2061  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon Asics delay or are the Chinese post offices open arround 9 pm on Sunday? on: January 28, 2013, 01:10:48 PM
So where are those Avalon Asics? They shipped them in a Warhammer 40k starship that got attacked by demons while in the warp? This seems the only logical explanation.
2062  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What have caused the rise and fall of bitcoin prices in the past? on: January 28, 2013, 01:09:23 PM
Free market. People selling and buying. More people adopting bitcoin. And so on, tons of causes.
2063  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Your Bitcoin Client on: January 28, 2013, 01:08:19 PM

This, bitcoin is totally different. You can't print bitcoin at will!
2066  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BitForce Jalapeno - Worth the investment? on: January 27, 2013, 08:56:16 PM

I am not saying this is wrong but I've been making that on 200Mh/s on slush's pool...
And? Read what mjc said, he is considering a total hash power of 500Th/s, not todays one!
2067  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kim Dotcom Mansion: Press conference 2013-01-19 GMT on: January 27, 2013, 08:03:59 PM
Do you know that they are working on a new database system wich make the blockchain download much much much faster? I'm trying it since some days and it is really much faster. In like 6 hours or so a decent computer get the whole chain.
Yes, it is still a lot and that's why unless you want to run a full node, you should use a lightweight client (especially since lightweight clients have a much better interface!)

Electrum and Multibit are like the normal client but without the blockchain. They aren't online wallet lol
2068  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BitForce Jalapeno - Worth the investment? on: January 27, 2013, 07:53:45 PM
It is very hard to tell since it still hasn't been released. And well, since no asic at all has been released so far.
2069  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: cgminer - Best shae: 2.72K ??? on: January 27, 2013, 07:45:26 PM
Mining with this card is useless, especially since you are heating a laptop, not good.

This said, there is nothing wrong with the best share. It is the difficulty of that share, 2.72k is 2720. Since difficulty now is 2.97 millions, for a block to be found, it take a share of 2.97 millions. Yes, it is random, but it works fine.

I would not argue against that.  I finally got a friend of mine to mess around with it.  Even at this early stage, one needs a pretty decent computer...at least for the initial block download which he gave up on after a few days.  How it would be in steady-state, I don't know.
Never heard about lightweight client? Seriously why the hell did you tell to your friend to use the qt client? Tell him to use Multibit or Electrum, you start it and it's ready to use!
2071  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introduction and Question about FPGA on: January 26, 2013, 11:34:49 PM
What i tried to avoid is that you mistakenly think to become rich via mining and spend tons of money in mining equip and then you realize that you made the wrong choice. Better safe than sorry!

You are new and you think mining is a get rich quick scheme? You are totally wrong. Also ASIC should arrive soon, buying a fpga today isn't exactly a good idea
2076  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Ships on: January 26, 2013, 08:34:25 PM
Ehi look a BFL guy insulting people
2077  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: it mining worth it these days? on: January 25, 2013, 06:27:50 PM
1)So far no ASIC has been delivered.  It seems someone shipped ASIC but so far no one received anything.
2)If they will be really delivered then it will be the only way to mine. Fpga or gpu will be useless, exactly like cpu is useless today. So if in the future you will want to mine, it will be asic mining. (wich is a good thing btw...)
3)Do not expect to become rich! Everyone will buy them, difficulty will skyrocket and profit will be more or less like today. 10 BTC per month is too few you say? For something wich cost 1300$? How many BTC can you mine today in a month if you spend 1300$?
2078  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Blockchain.info/Blockexplorer.com question on: January 25, 2013, 06:15:46 PM
No.

You can only know the coins in that address. To know the coins in a wallet.dat you must first know all the addresses of that wallet! Sure, you can guess somethings, by looking at transactions and etcetc, but only guesses, and maybe totally wrong.

2080  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why $17? Because this is happening... on: January 24, 2013, 10:35:28 PM
People saw price increase and started buying because omg if price increase i become rich. Then ppl saw btc at 19 and went SELL SELL to make profit. No need to involve pump and dump and mysterious organizations
