So.. I will say one thing.  The last BIG corn buy I did was March 12 2020.

I am about to do another one... looks like today, but we will see.

I bought 0.05638 @ ~35.5k  Not quite the bottom, but I am still feeling pretty good about it! Wink

Although damn... That last time I got more than 4x the BTC for 1/2 the price.  It's amazing how little $2k will get you now even when it IS on sale! I say that's a 'big' buy... Well it is for me, I typically stack in the 100-200 range, and really just to feed my degenity.

Hahahahaha... The carnage... I love it!!!

It's kinda funny how we have become this way, isn't it?

Hi, my name is cAPS, and I am a multidump survivor.

-pause-

HIIII cAAAAPS.

-pause-

Yeah well anyway this time I was believing in something called a supercycle, and before you know it I was back up to 40% dumps in a week again.

Group hug?

last time was the s-curve, remember that.

Shut up.. S-curve is about to make a huge comeback!  Think of it as an "itallics s"!

This is my view: https://i.imgur.com/aqFXLAW.png

This is just a shakeout.

I still think we will see 700usd this year.

You know... it all depends on big daddy corn.

Monero Twitter is getting giddy with flippening talk, lol.

Fuckin noobs.  But I do have some respect for them.

One thing that is really bothering me (aside from the obvious)...

Every major miner has now signalled for the taproot upgrade with at least 1 block. It's takes a little while for their entire operation to signal every block, so we will miss activating taproot this round, but next one it is definitely going to happen. Good news in an otherwise shitty past day.

https://taproot.watch/miners

Anyone have a good ELI5 link for taproot?

Currently P2PKH (start with 1) and P2PSH (Start with 3 for example) payments look different in a transaction.  But with taproot you would be able to make transactions without being able to tell the difference between payments to scripts, or to public keys.  The difference between those payment types gives clues as to what the transaction is being used for.

With Taproot enabled it will be more difficult to know that a payment was going to be used in the creation of a lightning channel, for example.

The way this works is (ELI5 style) you can COMBINE all the public and private keys into something that looks like a SINGLE keypair and do transactions with that.  Pretty nifty because you get all the benefits of multisig without anyone knowing it IS multisig.

Currently we leak a lot of information just based on what our transactions LOOK like.  So one thing taproot will do is make chain analysis MUCH more difficult. (Or really I should say much less easy lol)

Uncly Tony 'splains it here...

I can sense across the great biosphere, that one of you is about to have a Mindrust moment.

Question is, which one of you is it?  Cheesy

I agree with you on this... it's time, I think.

But what is a great biosphere?  That's a little granolaish for you Torque.
2072  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 17, 2021, 03:20:12 PM

Thanks Homer, that was it. That's the little bag!

Looks like I'll be OK. It's amazing how psychology affects our brain and body. Yesterday I was happily eating beef jerky sprinkled with O2 absorber and enjoying it (tasted great BTW). Now, the mere thought of doing this again makes me want to puke my guts out.

It's going to be beef jerky without O2 absorber from now on!  Cheesy

I am sorry for your experience with the oxygen absorber, but I am delighted you got to experience beef jerky. Wink  Jack Links is a mainstream brand here in the US, and it's decent enough.  But there are also many small brands and less mass produced sorts of jerky that are also excellent.

But the very best of all?

My wife and I have made it with a food dehydrator.  We have the butcher cut some meat very thinly, and we season it, and put it in that gizmo and it takes a few days I think.

IT. IS. DELICIOUS.  MUCH MUCH better than anything you can buy in a store.  Similar to the difference between a loaf of bread from the store, and one baked at home.  Anyway... something to try.
2073  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 17, 2021, 01:43:55 PM
Facebook, tried that. Didn't really work out.

Coinbase and Circle, on the other hand, did USDC and it's doing great.
I think that Facebook was greedy and didn't do their homework properly. For example, the coin "basket" they've tried to use made their coin proposal become a competitor for USD. But that's just me.

Not just you... The US Senate, and the Federal Reserve are thinking exactly the same way.  They would stop bitcoin too, if there was anyone to stop.
2074  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 17, 2021, 01:38:59 PM

Oh that sucks. Of course, the guy is a pathological liar so I don't beleive him.

Last thing that anyone should want is for Musk or Tesla to own any Bitcoin.

Pretty sure he can't lie about this without going to jail.  Assuming the same rules apply to him as do me.
2075  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 17, 2021, 01:34:16 PM
So...Musk tweet is like the Silk Road bust of 2013?

OGs know what I'm talking about...

A few years ago I sort of had this vision that has stuck.  Bigger and bigger things would try to destroy bitcoin, or worse and worse calamities would befall it.  Six one, half a dozen the other.  Eventually nations themselves would come against it.  I saw it in the frame of a video game.  Bigger and bigger boss-fights.  Each time the hero gets to level up with better armor and weapons.  Every time it comes out stronger, ready to face the next boss/calamity.

Today even the prophet of "Anti-Fragility" himself has crashed headlong into the strange beast that is bitcoin.

No matter how many time it happens I can't get used to it.  I have to just admit it... I suppose it is like going in a haunted house.  I know what's gonna happen but it still scares me. Wink

I think this particular calamity is starting to get close to the nation level fight... In fact I have a feeling they may have had a hand in this particular drama.  Here Elon... take this carbon cred*cough* BIG SWORD, and go kill that thing for us, Mr. Genius.

And here we are again... surrounded by wreckage and smoke.  Some of us wondering for the 719th time if Bitcoin is the one this time lying there dead on the ground...

Heh.

Bad Elon! Bad DOGE!
Next tweet:
Tesla sold Bitcoin 🤣

I think everyone knows he sold already. Inflows day before his twitter post, and the fact that his Tesla venture is going to chit in China. He needed the money to suppress the poor performance of Telsa last quarter and needs it again for this quarter.

If this is the case...  then it would be sooooooo very delicious for Bitcoin to punish him very severely.  Until recently I had nothing against the guy (nor did I worship him as I feel some do), but as of now I would love to see him suffer. Wink  Evil, I suppose.
2077  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 17, 2021, 01:39:52 AM
The more I think about it... the more I think Elongate is really really positive for the corn.

We can't lose.  No matter what Elon does it will benefit Bitcoin, I think.

If he continues to promote Doge it could be quite the detour for folks, but ultimately he will fail.  Because whatever centralizing thing he does will just drive people into the arms of bitcoin.

He could turn out to be quite the enemy of Bitcoin too... now that the community has publicly embarrassed him.  I do not know what he does under those circumstances.

But overall I see this as probably being a net plus.

I'm thinking same, but we'll take some time getting through it. He'll probably just move on and ignore it soon enough, when narsacistic types get exposed they usually put the blame on somthing other then them and just disappear. To do otherwise would continue to expose how much of a god they aren't, and their ego is not set up for that.

Yeah... this thing really really went bad for him.  He got defensive, started bragging about starting paypal etc.

I think the really tantalizing thing to me is to know what is REALLY going through his head.

The whole bigger blocks, more TPS thing.  Can he really be that unevolved in his thinking about Bitcoin?  He has no excuse.  The math has already been laid out by so many folks.  If he really is that ignorant, then this will have been strongly embarrasing for him.  He will either dig in, or as you say disappear.

It is more interesting to think he is working some angle though.  If so... what is it?
2078  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 17, 2021, 01:34:43 AM

This probably provides some evidence to the doubters that we are NOT quite ready for a supercycle.. but hey.. maybe some peeps are thinking that there will be, and I doubt that the world works like that and I doubt that status quo institutions are just going to roll over without at least a certain amount of fight both with financial tools if they can do that and with information wars too, if they can maintain some amount of credibility in propagating ideas that put bitcoin into doubt, at least to those who are less familiar with what really causes bitcoin to tick, and even some of us longer term bitcoiners will sometimes have our doubts, too... but hopefully we neither panic nor sell too much of our stash too soon because of our sometimes over receptivities to whatever new talking points are getting put out into the social media or wherever else such information is being propagated.

I think the institutional interest is enough to kick off the "supercycle".

I wish there was a way to know how many CFOs got a text from their board members this weekend about how Elon is doing them all such a big favor.  I imagine the OTC desks are going bonkers tomorrow.  in fact I imagine VIP customers are making deals tonight. The market may have already swallowed up the 19k TSLA sold, assuming I am right about this.  It will go down as a great short term move, but shortsighted.

I suppose I am a hopeless bull.  I just have a hard time seeing this pulback not getting snapped off pretty quickly.

I can't stand that sentiment.

First of all, who even knows who bitcoiners are?  Bitcoin Twitter is an echo chamber.  And if you want "Crypto Twitter" then there are plenty of Laura Shin type folks to listen to.

Also what's the difference between telling someone that ETH is a scam, and wagging your finger at "toxic" people?  Isn't it really the same thing?

To be honest I am starting to see that line as scam grease.  No need to critisize folks who take the maxi line unless they threaten you, and I think what they threaten is a way he wants to make money.

I get sick of the HFSP shit too to be honest.  But a bunch of dweebs on twitter have absolutely nothing to do with bitcoin adoption.
