Oh... and just to remove even MORE of the mystery!!!

1222  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 30, 2021, 03:38:48 PM
I think we should ask theymos to implement a feature, where you can select to have all your old posts deleted after an X period of time. Or better yet, after a certain amount of the price rising, e.g. delete all posts that were posted when BTC was worth 100x less then it is now.

why?

this forum is part of bitcoins history. leave it be for historians (or garbage pickers, depending).

I was just kidding, because of the post above me where a member made a deep dive in the old posts of a Legendary member, and used that to infer stuff about how rich this person might be. It was just a way of hinting that that might not be very Gentlemanly.

ah, gotcha

but JJG is the go to guy on that. i think he has spreadsheets on us to keep track.

I can guarantee that JJGs guess on how much BTC I own is most definitely incorrect. Tongue  In fact my wife does not even really know...  Actually with all the lightning channels I have open now it's hard for ME to even know. Wink

Done. The Scottish Highlands await you and your wife.  One day.....

I have not forgotten!

I am curious. Have you moved to Scotland at that time? According to your past post, You were in Dallas.

I do live in a large city (Dallas)

Dallas is a big city where most people want to live and want to own an apartment there.

According to you, You were going to accept bitcoin as a payment method for your business at that time ( I am pretty much surprised that you trusted Bitcoin at that time).

I own a recording studio and am new to bitcoins.
Now I am wondering if I could take them for payment at my studio.

Since you didn't update that post anymore, IDK if you were accepting Bitcoin.
Bitcoin Price was $15.40 Per BTC at starting of July 2011.
Source: Bitcoin Price Table, 2011

I assume you have a couple of apartments in Dallas now if you were accepted Bitcoin that time.
And You can buy a few islands in Scotland anytime. Smiley

One word of advice.

Be careful digging into and exposing the personal details of the people in this thread.  As in avoid it.  It is not a good etiquette as most of us want to remain anonymous, and safe. Luckily... I don't mind terribly.  My opsec is fairly well blown here, and as you have discovered there is a lot of personal info about me on this forum.

I did offer bitcoin as payment at my business, and none of my clients ever went to the trouble to use it.  Even with a 20% discount.

I still live in Dallas.

Sadly for me, I was around for the beginning of bitcoin, but as a starving artist I never really accumulated very much of it... so no buying of islands for me.  Hindsight is always 20/20.

Just beat up a trendline with volume...

Pants.

*EDIT*

Let's see if the trendline flips to support.  I bet it does!!!  And it will make a decent basecamp for the next attack to retake the psychological 60k.

I think we will noodle around under 60 for a moment, and then take it fairly quickly.  I do not think there is a lot of resistance at that level.

Well if we're still planning to honour our past deal, by your answers I'll at least know you're the real cAPSLOCK:

I am a simple man with absolutely no need for "Lambos",cannot afford the years taken off my life due to any drug habits, and don't want hookers. I would like a home in the mountains, and possibly a place by the sea... perhaps I will try to combine those two things and move to the up country in Maui.  Then I just need enough to pay the bills.

I suppose that sounds boring.

That doesn't sound boring at all. It sounds idyllic and I couldn't agree more. When it happens, I'll invite you to one of my homes in the mountains in exchange for a visit to one of yours!

It's a deal. Seriously. It would be really fun to make this happen sometime in the next few years...

Buddy breaker! Where the hell is everybody?  Cool

I think if ever I were to agree to meet a WOer in real life, to check that they really are who they say, I would ask them "What is ChartBuddy, how often, and at what time to within the nearest minute?"

If they can't answer those three questions, they're a fake and are most likely after your stash.

Well, I am glad you said something because now I know the answer.  But I would have just said we breaks up the walls and walls of JJG posts.  And sometimes a few in a row at night.
1227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lightning Network Observer on: November 29, 2021, 07:57:51 PM
Agree with Rath.  You could do this with any non custodial wallet.

But for what your friend wants?  I will suggest this.

Use two wallets:

1.  Send On-Chain bitcoin to Wallet of Satoshi
2.  Send a lightning transaction to Muun wallet.  (You may need to send more than one to squeeze out as many sats as possible, many wallets will only allow you to send a percentage of your total to save sats for the fee)
3.  "Withdraw" with an On Chain transaction.

Now... some details.

-You can change the two above wallets to any other two that would work.  I just know that both of those will allow on and off chain transactions from your balance.
-WoS is custodial.  This implies counter party risk.  But it also ensures your sats come from "somewhere else".
-CoinOS.io is another good choice and lets you float between BTC, L-BTC,and lightning with one single balance. This would allow sending to az series of LBTC wallets and back to CoinOS if you  like in the middle of your trips.  Liquid will allow you to use Monero like Confidential Transactions, and you could use morethan one CoinOS account and TOR if you REALLY want to push it...

This whole exercise has made me think about the nature of layer 2 systems, and how they will actually end up doing some fairly interesting UTXO obfuscation.  Also, i had never considered that funds that join and leave a "layer 2" *could* also end up "dirty" without the user knowing.  Eventually this will probably make it to court or some other official.  Lightning's privacy is going to be an interesting twist (as will Liquids)

Looks like bullflag resolved...

Now let's see what sort of legs this thing has...

1229  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 29, 2021, 04:09:11 PM
I *WILL* quote myself again that this is a bear trap eventually... Wink

But this channel does not look too happy yet.  But obviously if we can retake circa 60k that would be very meaningful here.  Again, it is interesting seeing so little retail involvement while Microstrategy announces getting in for another half billion at just under 60.

I feel like we are beginning to push a little past "due to hear about more OTC positions being taken by the bigger players".  They are either all playing chicken with each other holding back their announcements, or Microstrategy is shooting the biggest foot cannon in the history of finance.

Since, IMO, it is not the latter we are only left with seeing UP coming soon.  We are sitting on the edge of it right now.  Will this resolve as a bullflag?  Or do we stay in the channel some more?

*EDIT*
One other comment.

At these retail price oracles like Stamp and Finex et all we are seeing something OVER and OVER in the midst of a bull market:

On the way up there is little retail volume.  But the selloffs DO have greater volume.  Look at the chart below.  See how the down-barts are accompanied by big red candles, and yet the legs up have like 20% the sized green candles.  HOWEVER we are still in a bull market overall, and have been seeing this pattern just about the whole time.

I think there is only one way to interpret this (and it makes me excited).  And it harmonizes with what we have been seeing this whole cycle.

Coins are moving from the hands of traders on retail exchanges into the cold storage of people trading somewhere else.  Otherwise we would have seen the run from 3k-60k in under 2 years. Volume up on the exchanges when the market moves down, and quiet as it floats up.  Yet we are net going up.

I am betting that Microstrategy is enjoying their position as the only big player who can just brag about their intentions since they earned the position to do so by being first.

On the other hand if other large stakes are being taken, and the companies taking the stakes are public.  We cannot go forever with them operating in the dark.  Eventually they will have to report what they have done, right?

I just cant figure out how we do not see an avalanche of announcements soon.  Nothing else makes sense.

Interesting news...

Jack Dorsey stepping down from CEO of Twitter.  Markets seem to like it (with the stock up5%).  Not sure if he intends to stay at the top of Square.

Possible this has something to do with the sharks at Elliott Management who have been trying to oust him.

Personally, I am mixed on Jack... don't quite like/trust him...

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/11/29/twitter-ceo-jack-dorsey-is-expected-to-step-down-sources-say.html

https://www.the-sun.com/tech/4167154/jack-dorsey-step-down-twitter-ceo/

RIP Twitter.

I could be wrong here, but it's my understanding is that Jack was the only person standing in the way of Twitter becoming more of an aggressively ad-riddled, invasive data collecting, free-speech censored, Facebook-like toxic cesspool.

Sounds like he no longer wanted to play along with the greedy wealthy investors.

Quote
It’s also unknown why Dorsey, 45, would take a step back. But if he steps down, the next CEO will have to meet Twitter’s aggressive internal goals. The company said earlier this year it aims to have 315 million monetizable daily active users by the end of 2023 and to at least double its annual revenue in that year.

That's interesting Torque.

I have been so puzzled by Jack because the whole corporate "censorship" aspect we have seen over the last few years has been very prominent on Twitter where an entire set of people have been ERASED there including a sitting (and now past) US president.  Where one particular worldview is exalted, and another declared to be "Nazi" or "fascist" or "white supremacist" And shut down.

At this point in the story the two faced liberal, and the HONEST libertarian will point out that Twitter is a private company and should be allowed to curate their content how they choose including banning whomever they want for any reason they want. I agree with this point of view. And it saddens me that so many people that identify with the sort of politics I espouse are shouting "censorship" at the top of their lungs, which is why I put it in quotes, and why I point out that it is the HONEST libertarians who defend Twitter's right to do this and it saddens me there are so few.

That does not mean it is not an abominable practice.

And that is where I get confused about Jack.  His push towards the "blue sky" project.  His love of decentralized systems, including Bitcoin, and his claim to want to support wild unfettered free speech seem to contradict with the position he takes when he awkwardly testifies in front of congress.

That's where I get confused.  Which is he?

Another problem is he is building ANOTHER Twitter like ediface with Square/Cashapp.  A centralized bank that is all tangled up in Bitcoin and is destined to censor transactions eventually, UNLESS they build it in a way that learned the lessons they missed when building twitter.

Which side is he on?  I don't know.

Here discusses the impact of LN on content creators.
Something we might not really familiar with, today, but could be relevant in the newer future. He actually also discloses, in the last row of the article, his investment on this thesis.
Podcasting is an interesting example, since podcast micropayments through Lightning are implemented quite nicely in Breez.
You can set it to pay a few sats (any amount you want) every minute you listened. And compared to traditional solutions, it doesn't just count the minutes and does a one-off payment afterwards; it directly pays LN invoices every minute which is not possible without BTC and Lightning.

I have a channel with podcast.org and MOSTLY see lots of little sub 20 sat relays.  Its cool!

So many dip buyers

Didn’t realize there where so many BTC’s

 Tongue

There will ALWAYS be BTC for sale!  It's just going to be a little while before any of the sats I own move.  Except maybe to new taproot addresses... though I still have not figured out how taproot works lol.

How convenient for the Fed that a new covid variant "suddenly appears" right before the month they talked about tightening?  Roll Eyes

Money printer will never not go brrr. They just need an excuse for the public.

Yep, of the 100 variants over the last few months, they decided to use this one for their media attack dogs. They know they can't taper, infact, they know that they must keep increasing the brrrr. Just needed that excuse to save face.

I think they've already seen the early retail data coming out, and realize that hardly anyone is buying anything anymore, for Christmas or otherwise. They already know that this shopping season is going to be a bloodbath of red.

The whole world is deflating, and they know it. So this is all a smokescreen cover for a controlled demolition of the world economy. Mass layoffs, lockdowns, and firings (due to non-compliance with a certain mandate) is not just a byproduct of all this, they are actively seeking a shakeout of tens of millions of people from worldwide employment. They need small businesses to fail and close permanently. They NEED it to maintain big corp profitability and to get more cheap debt fuel from the Fed.

A quick look at the falling labor participation rate proves this. Jobs that are permanently lost and never coming back.

Sadly this is pretty much the only working explaination that makes sence anymore.

They are crashing the markets over a long weekend in the US when they are either closed to the public, or only open 3.5 hours and they intend to take as much out of Joe Public's savings as possible.

Occams razor.

But one little light of solace.

Wonder why people like Hillary Clinton are out in the news chirping about the evil Bitcoin?

Because it is NOT a part of this long laid out plan.  And they are beginning to see it is going to be trouble.

I hope President Bukele survives all this...  I would imagine people are talking about "sending a message".

For YEARS during bull markets we get to a point like this and we wonder.. whoa, is this it?  Did we top out?  Did I miss my chance to sell at the top (why are you selling at all? (not that there are not good reasons to! But if you probably weren't selling in the first place... then why the fear/regret?))

And most times with the conditions the way they are right now we would most CERTAINLY NOT be seeing the top already, but a pullback on the way up.

Here's a little reality to put it in perspective:

So, not to say history generally repeats itself, but it most certainly does "rhyme" from time to time as M. Twain was attributed to have said.

Which one of these verses are we hearing read from the book of history THIS time?

I really know nothing about technical analysis (nor science or confirmed sources).

But at least you know some math, surely?

I got about halfway through the multiplications tables when I realized that instead of memorizing the numbers I could just figure them by multiples of the lower ones, or use a little formula (algebra?  Is that a math?) to figure the number.

So 7 X 7 is 3 * (2 * 7) + 7, and since I know 2 * 7 is 14 (I hadn't given up by that point) I can know for sure that the answer is higher than 14!

So yeah... definitely know math.  (Or maths for you euro types)

I really know nothing about technical analysis (nor science or confirmed sources).  But this looks like either a falling wedge or a descending triangle.

It seems to be acting more like the wedge though.  And that looks like a decent breakout with a little volume

There would be some sweetness to bitcoin observing the US turkey holiday as it has in the past...

So thanks to the rest of the world NOT celebrating the holiday and getting on with business as usual! Wink
