That's awesome.

Currently some scam chains are doing all kinds of bullshit storage and wash trade volume to claim to be being actually used.

This Monero volume is probably the most organic volume of ANY of the crypto assets.  Only Bitcoin would beat it, I think.   And I could imagine arguments that Monero is a contender to be being used more organically than even Bitcoin... but that might be pushing it.
1062  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 03, 2022, 12:08:32 AM
To me this looks like more of a simple cooling off rather than a reversal.  I think this rally might still have some legs.  Though I still have no idea why Smiley

Just thought I'd share here because it's relevant and personally a little exciting...

Not sure if anyone remembers but a few months ago I made a post about a business my friend works for that generates their own electricity (via gas and wind) and sells it to the grid. The problem comes at times when they sell to a grid at a loss when they have excess energy so I suggested they set up a mining operation. Long story short they got up a test bed with a 0.8MW operation and it seems to be going well; there's now plans to expand this to other sites nation wide to I THINK a 8MW total. Sitting down with my friend tomorrow for me to be brought in an have a possible role in all of this so I'm pretty excited. TOTAL change from my current line of work but definitely something I'd be passionate about.

So yeah, that's that Smiley

The extent to which the current "Bitcoin uses more electricity than Crustopia" sort of narrative has things so COMPLETELY out of phase with reality it will be a strange jolt for honest people when they realize how it enables energy creation even more than it uses energy.

It is a ripe market for businesses to make money guiding this revolution.  Wish I was not so lazy. Wink

Ho, hum.

Another 1/3/xx will come and go with me holding the keys to over 99% of my sats.

I do admit to having a few sats on WoS, and Coinos.io which are custodial.  But I have less than 200k sats on addresses, or in wallets for which I do not hold the private keys.

The reason I state this, is not to be snooty, or even an idealist.  But there should not NEED to be a day on which we encourage people to self custody.  People should ALWAYS self custody.  Otherwise they do not get Bitcoin.  Holding a few sats in custodial hot wallets?  Well, that level of risk tolerence should be up to each user.

But far too many people do not custody their own coins.

This is true in spite of the fact that some people have EXTREMELY compelling arguments to have a trusted third party.  For example Microstrategy is recently being shamed by idealists for having a third party custodian.  But this is a very understandable risk.  Because they need to follow various regulatory requirements, and do not really have a choice.  So it is not all cases in which we can do it... but in those where we can?  We should!

This shaming is so misguided.  The majority of sheep hitting like on that tweet do not hold the keys to their coins.  THOSE are the people we need to "get it".

So...  if any of you denizens of the WO are still letting a third party hold the keys then reach out to me via DM if you want.  I will help you set up a secure way to custody your own coins.

Eventually the governments are going to make a move around custody.  You are really going to want to be holding your keys when this happens.

Watching the Dr Malone / Rogan interview... pretty good so far.

(btw eff you bct post merging script, and thanks to cOPETECH)

I thought it was a very well done and informative podcast, I also liked JR's interview w/ Peter McCollough but I think Peter got a little bit off the rails w/ some of his assertions that should have been should have been toned back until empirical data supported them as fact. Dr. Malone was properly reserved to avoid weak assertions that could be used to debunk the entirety.

That's interesting. I did watch that one too.  And I did not get that sense from McCollough.  In fact I kind of thought Malone got WAY more risky... but i might have just zoned out for the portion you are thinking of... These things are interesting..but they are long as hell.  3 hours!  But I am going to watch ever minute.

But I also think McCullough kind of danced around the fringe compared to the laser focused assassination of the current narrative this thing was.

DAMN  Powerful stuff..  the last 15 minutes is ABSOLUTELY DEVASTATING.
1069  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 02, 2022, 04:11:05 AM
Holy Crap... The Robert Malone interview is an absolute nuclear bomb.

Either Rogan helps breaks the mass formation psychosis, or he will go down in history as an "alt-right nut".

Because the folks benefiting from this crisis are not going to like this interview... that's for sure!

(sorry... if enough people grump about it I will move this to the official thread... Smiley  )

ALSO: trying to vote in the poll (275k) bit I can't do it?
1070  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 02, 2022, 12:38:59 AM
Come on. That was easy. Everyone knew that.

Waiting that monero.how add new month so can draw another quarter to transactions by quarters graph. It will be highest again.

Well... I am still in the dark!  As I must be the dumbest Monero fan of all time.

All I do is hold what I have since 2014, while now and then BUYING some more like I did on 12/14/21.

So, maybe I saw it too?  But what did I see?

For all you ham radio enthusiast, a 97 year old station powering up and transmitting, amazing old technology.

SAQ Grimeton Christmas Eve 2021 Transmission on December 24th

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ecg2UrKvNr8

Edit: "SAQ is transmitting on one frequency only; 17.2 Khz, as the radio wave is generated mechanically and the rotating alternator cannot produce any higher frequency. The transmitter was installed in 1924 and it was in operation 24/7 for several years. During WWII it was used to communicate with sub marines, as the low frequency allows the radio wave to be recieved under water, down to about 6 meters (18 ft). We are on air 2-3 times a year. See our website alexander.n.se and subscribe to our newletter and you will be noticed in time before any."

The antenna is 2,2 km long, that's a hell of an antenna.

Fascinating well presented video, enjoyed that more than most of the crap I've endured over Christmas holidays.
Don't know that cAPSLOCK's transceiver would pick up VLF as low 17.2Khz.

Bitcoin price still hovering at mid December levels, no tears to shed.

Optimistic for 2022.

Arriemoller and all of WO Happy New Year and many more of them.

I am not a radio expert by ANY means.  But no, I am certain that under NORMAL circumstances my radio could not pick up a a 2km+ wavelength.   Ha.  It can RX down to 30k, but of course only in amateur ranges.  I thin there would need to be some sort of converter and the right antenna, then I could do it.  Perhaps when the time comes for a future TX I will see if I have the energy to put together what I need to receive.

I am MOST interested in CW just on the basis of how far one can communicate on the amount of energy in a lightbulb.  But I have exactly zero morse code skill whatsoever.  It's one of those bucket list things I doubt I ever get around to.

For those who want to get lost in the signal this is a fun site:

Well look at that!  Seems we got a decent bounce.  But now the question is what next...  the volume and all the other signs are pointing to breaking down.  And being the last day of the year coming up you would think the bears and bulls have a little shenanigans planned for the next 24-48... SUCH FUN watching the walls! Wink

Highest Daily volume candle since October 6th on CB? Not convinced volume favours the bears anymore, even if was previously the case (and when you posted such an observation).

Price is struggling to get over the 200 Day MA & VPVR point of control around $48K, but otherwise looks neutral short to mid-term while remaining at this level. Quite simply, a rejection from this price is again bearish and a break above is again bullish. Hence $48K always being a key price level for me.  Notably, the bears yet again failed to push prices lower than $46K, that instead attracted considerable buying pressure.

For now the trend remains sideways, with buyers stepping in below $48K and sellers stepping in above it. Until this narrative breaks, price remains undecided in a short to mid-term. Price has otherwise bounced from some longish-term support, which is a positive sign, but requires closing above $48K as well as moving back above $50K for confirmation. Otherwise is nothing more than another dead cat bounce.

While not being an expert in Wycoff accumulation theory, I am beginning to see this pattern within the current short-term trend:

Needless to say, it requires confirmation by a breakout above the current resistance level around $51K. Looks similar though.

The Wyckoff accumulation phase is a sideways and range bound period that occurs after a prolonged downtrend. This is the area where larger players try to build positions.

I have always been drawn to the wyckoff model.  Just like many other forms of somewhat complex TA models I wonder if we are looking at animals in the clouds (speaking of clouds... that is the one TA discipline I COMPLETELY do NOT understand, although I enjoy our Toxic's charts).

But I think what is interesting me at THIS particular moment is we have several interesting factors aligning at the same moment.  The dateline being the most unusual one.  With the tax implications as well as the futures expiration obviously taking a role.

Obviously Bitcoin might cross into the new year and just keep plowing along sideways overall between 30-65k for months, or even forever (Laura), but it's pretty hard to imagine.

I feel like we are witnessing the biggest game of global financial chicken ever played.

And yet a guaranteed winning move is very easy to pull off...  And though I am watching the charts like crazy, I am playing the same game I have for over a decade.  Hold.  Maybe buy a little.  Play with my nodes.
1078  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 31, 2021, 02:43:47 PM
OK!

So many times, we have been here.  XMR/USD at strong (and critical) support:

Same sort of thing in XMR/BTC:

It would be fairly sad to see the price breaking either of these, and devastating if we lost both...  That seems EXTREMELY unlikely.  So for the first time in ages, I am a buyer.

So proud to say I bought at the recent bottom...  But was it THE bottom?  Or just the next bottom.  That is the question.

OR!!!

Is all the recent action from people playing the "monero pot" game?  I have to admit I bought one entry. Smiley

The drawing is in like 9 hours I think,  Which one of you made this?

Actually i've been waiting for the male-british-gay version of Jeanne d'Arc for too long.
But i fear Hollywood will annoy us with Joan Rambo first  Roll Eyes
Sigh...

I can't wait to watch that show where they portray Anne Boleyn as black.

Fuck this Goddamn space rock.

As long as there are people who can see and fight the nonsense we will eventually get back to where we need to be.  This madness cannot last forever.

Though there are times I am close to giving up...

Am I the last to notice that Session (the messaging app) is using Monero's seed word scheme?
Nothing new about this because it is using monero fork and those nodes are used for their app but I am not interested in their coin.
Who knows what happens with this app when there are nobody running their nodes except maybe developers.
I don't think doing this with Monero nodes will work with new fork of Signal.
