2061  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Qora | 100% POS | Assets | Names | Voting | Open Source on: March 19, 2015, 04:32:54 PM
interesting the thread for bounty. i read it but don't understand somethings of the explanation.
so you want it (AT) to be implementation ON the scrypt-chain? is correct?

AT is not a blockchain but a tech that can be added to any blockchain (to provide "Turing complete" txs).

So the bounty is for someone to implement AT on a Bitcoin clone (Script is the Bitcoin tx language).
2062  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Qora | 100% POS | Assets | Names | Voting | Open Source on: March 19, 2015, 04:23:25 PM
They have the talent to implement AT, they just have other issues to deal with constantly right now and kind of blew me off in a slack chat when I brought it up.

It is not surprising as AT is not going to be *easy* to implement for a Bitcoin clone (that is precisely why I created the bounty).
2063  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Qora | 100% POS | Assets | Names | Voting | Open Source on: March 19, 2015, 03:57:26 PM
I tried to get FTC on board, didn't work out.

The main problem is that you need *talented* devs (not copy-pasta devs although I don't know FTC at all so the comment is not aimed at them specifically).
2064  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Qora | 100% POS | Assets | Names | Voting | Open Source on: March 19, 2015, 01:09:22 PM
To clarify - AT is going to be implemented for Qora (it is about 95% done AFAIA).

So don't worry - Qora will be the 2nd blockchain to have AT running on it (the bounty is to get AT working for Bitcoin clones).
2065  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Qora | 100% POS | Assets | Names | Voting | Open Source on: March 19, 2015, 12:45:53 PM
Why do you need a scripted clone with existing user base?  I don't understand why you can't just create a clone from scratch and name it "Bitcoin-Token."  The whole point of this bounty is to prove that AT is compatible with Bitcoin-based technology right?

Correct - but I don't want a coin that gets "attacked to death" as that would not be good PR - so as long as it can't be destroyed then it can qualify.
2066  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Qora | 100% POS | Assets | Names | Voting | Open Source on: March 19, 2015, 12:36:32 PM
By the way, do  you know if the first ACCT use case has been implemented (or still in the work)?

We have written the use case but as only one blockchain currently is running AT (Burst) we haven't implemented it yet.

did you have any luck getting a Scripted Clone to implement AT?  Smiley

PS: I was going to talk to MicroCoin's dev (hithb) on your behalf. I am a big investor of Microcoin and Alcurex  Grin  But I don't know if you guys have already found a partner yet, so I haven't done that.

Unfortunately - we did not and I am going to most likely *cancel* the bounty for that (so if you think the guy you know might be interested then contact him about that ASAP).
2067  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Qora | 100% POS | Assets | Names | Voting | Open Source on: March 19, 2015, 12:26:44 PM
A quick question while you're here -- will there be any high-level API calls developed for Qora with the next wallet release?  Also, I heard vbcs was relocating.  Any idea when he will be back on BTT?  Grin

I have no idea about the Qora development itself (as I am not directly involved) but @vbcs has finished relocating and should be active again soon (he unfortunately came down with a cold that he is just getting over).

But don't you think it's up to customer to decide which apps are worthy of being spent on (so the power is ultimately in customer's hand)?

Absolutely - and once you have AT implemented you will have the Crowdfund AT to help! Smiley

...so cryptocurrency will become their business and main source of income instead of just being a "Hobby" project...

Indeed but I think we need to do that carefully. It is a bit like "artists" being paid for "art". Sooner or later you end up with "plain rubbish" being created by untalented people and promoted by fools just so that everyone can "make a buck".
2070  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Qora | 100% POS | Assets | Names | Voting | Open Source on: March 19, 2015, 12:01:26 PM
Your idea of payment for service has some merit but in my opinion it should be a "one off" fee and perhaps even optional (if the fee isn't too high and is ticked by default then most people won't untick it).

To be very clear I am very much against "copyright" and "royalties" (and "patent" for that matter) but of course devs do need to eat and live somewhere.
2071  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: CIYAM - Project Plan Outline on: March 19, 2015, 11:26:33 AM
What other packages you have in mind?

Here is a list of the relevant packages that already exist in CIYAM (but are not yet "blockchain" ready):

Blog
Email
Event
Forum
Group
Holding
Itinerary
Ledger
Message
Photo
Project
Schedule
Timezone
Token
Transaction
Wallet

If we wanted to create a blockchain equivalent application to CIYAM Open (http://ciyam.org/open) then we'd need the Blog, Forum, Message and Project packages.
2072  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: CIYAM - Project Plan Outline on: March 19, 2015, 11:17:06 AM
The User package has now been completed (took quite a bit longer than had been expected due to various changes needing to be made to handle the encryption of the password hash in particular).

A decision will need to be made about whether to next work on converting other packages to be suitable for blockchain applications or to instead start on the first actual blockchain application implementation with the Standard, User and Token packages that are ready for use.

Vrontis is that for the wallet source?

2074  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Block chain technology for USD/Euro/Etc being developed by IBM and central banks on: March 13, 2015, 07:20:47 PM
The very simple problem is going to be "corruption".

How are they going to convince anyone that their system isn't corrupt?

Without using an acceptable non-centralised solution (which is pretty much just Bitcoin at the moment) you simply can't trust it.

So you can be much more efficient than Bitcoin but you lose all credibility in doing so (thus even trying to make that a "sales point" looks weak).
2075  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [03-12-2015] China now Controls Bitcoin - CryptoCoinsNews.com on: March 13, 2015, 04:31:13 PM
I think that "entire cities" that have been built and no-one lives in is an exaggeration (and I have lived here a long time).

For sure there are "ghost areas" (generally outer suburbs) in which this is the case and one of them is/was famous for having the largest shopping mall in the world (that is/was basically devoid of any shoppers).
2076  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Double spending while spending bitcoin on stores on: March 13, 2015, 04:09:22 PM
Is it possible to know which one it will invalidate or is random?

It isn't really possible to know (although fees could make one tx more likely than another to confirm).

But assuming that the fees are the same then it would effectively be random (as it will depend on which tx got included in the best PoW chain).

My guess is that services like BitPay already detect such attempts and would warn their clients ASAP.
2077  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New 1.2.2 Automated Transactions on: March 12, 2015, 06:55:38 PM
Do you mean your personal name? I'm sure the guys found your wish hard to grasp when your BTT presentation says "Ian Knowles - CIYAM Lead Developer".

Yes - I mean my personal name (i.e. I don't need my ego to be stroked).
2078  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New 1.2.2 Automated Transactions on: March 12, 2015, 06:35:16 PM

I'd like the PR team to remove my name and just say CIYAM Developers in the next release (but it was pleasing to see the terms Automated Transactions and CIYAM appearing so thanks very much for that).
2079  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Creating metacoin for a decentralized exchange? on: March 11, 2015, 04:51:39 PM
Not yet at least. I think it can become a reality, though. Looking forward to the first USD:bitUSD gateway.

When you have that I will be much less skeptical.

Again I don't believe you guys are scammers but when you are doing things to do with peoples money you really have to be very open, honest and careful.
2080  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Creating metacoin for a decentralized exchange? on: March 11, 2015, 04:36:06 PM
Actually the beauty of it is the scenario you described won't happen because the shorter already put up enough collateral to perform the buy back, which is sent to an address controlled by the market on the blockchain. If the user shorting doesn't have the money to buy up bitUSD for example, and use it to cover the short manually, it will be bought out of the collateral they put up initially in the short (which is 2x the amount of the short).

This part I *get* (and always did after Dan explained it to me more than a year ago) but I still have a problem with it being named bitUSD when you can't exchange it for actual USD.
