2102  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A physical Bitcoin casino on: January 12, 2016, 04:36:48 PM
I's a good idea if Bitcoin transaction can be completed in a matter of seconds and if they will accept bet after 1 transaction. Imagine yourself sitting in front of a slot machine and you want to play so you pull out your smart phone to scan the QR code and then wait for 1 transaction, that's a big hassle right? Unless Casino accepts Bitcoin as payments for chips and token, i'll be happy to fall in line.

One can end up waiting hours for one confirmation...
2103  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to fix dust transactions? on: January 12, 2016, 02:04:49 PM
Import those keys to Bitcoin Core, activate Coin Control, select less than 200 inputs for each transactions, pay a small fee, like 20k satoshis, send everything in several transactions to the same address, then consolidate everything in one input.

You may have to exclude inputs less than 3600 satoshis or 5600 satoshis.

It may take some time for your transaction to confirm, do it fast as the number of transaction on the network is not very high at the moment, the chances of you getting confirmations are good right now.
2104  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [poll] What do you currently use Bitcoin for? on: January 12, 2016, 09:25:48 AM
Speculation, just trying to buy low and sell high.

It's a 'change address'.

It's in your wallet and it's created automatically.

Get PGP: https://philzimmermann.com/EN/findpgp/

And I think this is what you're looking for: https://www.gpg4win.org/download.html

Heloo,

I deposited 15000 dogecoins to my cryptsy account.

I see a diference in price of   cryptsy and c-cex.
c-cex 31 satoshi
cryptsy 42 satoshi.
Is good for sure profit.
But cryptsy not credit my deposit.
Is cryptsy scam?
Haven't seen there notice about closing their exchange service, i think it was published only today. And also withdrawl is locked but don't know about dogecoin withdraw. If they allow get all the doge back as soon as it get credited (hope it will be credited).

ImportAddress

Requires wallet support. Added in Bitcoin Core 0.10.0.

The importaddress RPC adds an address or pubkey script to the wallet without the associated private key, allowing you to watch for transactions affecting that address or pubkey script without being able to spend any of its outputs.

2114  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-01-03] Scaling Bitcoin: The Great Block Size Debate on: January 04, 2016, 01:48:22 PM
bitcoin does 7 transactions per second why paypal does 100. If the block size is increased to 16 MB, it can match that of paypal. The block size can be increased slowly, because there will be side chain transactions.

Bitcoin can't handle 7 transactions per second, that's the theoretical limit, the reality is something like 2,5 or 3 transactions per second.
2115  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Primedice, Bitdice Profitable System for Sale .3 btc - first 10 people only on: January 04, 2016, 11:07:07 AM
300k rolls is nothing, I've made more than 500k rolls 'martingaling' and everything went well but when you extrapolate it to serious numbers like 5 million or 10 million rolls you'll go bust, it's an inevitability.

2119  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-12-29] Coinbase Tests Bitcoin XT, Gets Removed From Bitcoin.org on: December 30, 2015, 10:25:10 AM
If a service starts using a competing Alt coin and not Bitcoin, it has to be removed as a Bitcoin related service... it's that simple.  Wink ... not many people seem to get it... or they

are struggling with it. They seem to think Bitcoin XT is the original Bitcoin. The day when there is consensus that Bitcoin XT is the dominant fork, we will accept it.. or have to

accept it, until then... it will be a Alt coin in our opinion.

Bitcoin XT is the original bitcoin, well at least the original vision for bitcoin...

Satoshi on blocksize increase:

It can be phased in, like:

if (blocknumber > 115000)
    maxblocksize = largerlimit

It can start being in versions way ahead, so by the time it reaches that block number and goes into effect, the older versions that don't have it are already obsolete.

When we're near the cutoff block number, I can put an alert to old versions to make sure they know they have to upgrade.

On bitcoin's future:

Quote
“At first, most users would run network nodes, but as the network grows beyond a certain point, it would be left more and more to specialists with server farms of specialized hardware.”

http://satoshi.nakamotoinstitute.org/emails/cryptography/2/

Quote
The design outlines a lightweight client that does not need the full block chain.  In the design PDF it's called Simplified Payment Verification.  The lightweight client can send and receive transactions, it just can't generate blocks.  It does not need to trust a node to verify payments, it can still verify them itself.

The lightweight client is not implemented yet, but the plan is to implement it when it's needed.  For now, everyone just runs a full network node.

I anticipate there will never be more than 100K nodes, probably less.  It will reach an equilibrium where it's not worth it for more nodes to join in.  The rest will be lightweight clients, which could be millions.

At equilibrium size, many nodes will be server farms with one or two network nodes that feed the rest of the farm over a LAN.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=286.msg2947#msg2947

Quote
The current system where every user is a network node is not the intended configuration for large scale.  That would be like every Usenet user runs their own NNTP server.  The design supports letting users just be users.  The more burden it is to run a node, the fewer nodes there will be.  Those few nodes will be big server farms.  The rest will be client nodes that only do transactions and don't generate.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=532.msg6306#msg6306

Current development is transforming bitcoin into a settlement network deviating from the original vision of a payment system.
