Here's the gist of it, as far as physical infrastructure is concerned:

Meshnets:
"Laying cable lines is rather expensive; we would have to unearth concrete and pavement each time someone moved and lines needed to be moved or upgraded. As wireless technology advances, however, the price of powerful WiFi routers will reach a point where they can effectively replace copper wires for the middle class in relatively urban areas. Instead of connecting to a modem installed by your Internet service provider, these routers connect directly to each other, or to long-range routers designed to reach past unpopulated terrain where no users live."

Or even better, rather than only wifi also use cell-phone masts essentially making every cell-phone a content broadcaster. If only an altcoin project was working on an app that targeted a service everyone use their phone for, making that service free to ensure wide adoption and then used that adoption to create a platform where each phone in a network could broadcast content.
Making the app connect to wifi where available by a blockchain based protocol that with encryption protected the owner of the wifi-router against knowing what content users were looking at and broadcasting, thus legally shielding him.
The developer of such app should preferably be someone who has experience within the field of loss-less wireless data transfer and mobile broadcast with military security. But who could that be?

Sneaky.

It's great to see new OP Smiley

Synechist, would it be possible to update the op every time as new wallet releases come available with the new features? Would be nice to see those yellow balloons pop into green phase in real time during releases and progress Smiley

It's really nice to see mobile wallets released before rev 3 too, has the work on those already begun?

Yeah that should be possible.

When things get delayed is when larger changes are necessary, because then I have to re-slice everything and hand-write the bbcode. And Bitcointalk is idiosyncratic at best in handling hyperlinked images, so it takes ages.

Small changes like that should be easy.

You can expect updates on mobile wallet development before too long. ;-)

I think you should keep it constant mate.. 1000 makes sense to me, keep it a round number and incentivise holding a reasonable number of coins...

Liking the OP.

Indeed. My guess is that it'll stay 1000 for a while. There's no obvious reason to change it.

Glad you like the OP. :-)

I know all nodes mix based on volume and that mixers only are backups in case of low volume but I still don't think the communication around this is sharp enough.
Could the team make a diagram or a cartoon that everyone easily can understand? Just as not to get confused with DRK Master Nodes.

You're dead right here - and there will be clarification regarding this. Probably tomorrow.

In the updated OP it now says 1000XC is the requirement for trustless mixing all the time. Is this final?

1000 XC for xnode do make sense because you will earn XC if run as a xnode.

Yup, it's 1000 XC.

This amount is still somewhat provisional.

Also, if XC's value increases, it's very likely that the required balance will decrease.

XC is first by volume in mintpal now, but price isnt going up still.. i think we should see nice pump (~300k) before monday like we saw before July 7th. And I hope that we wont back to same level (130k).

LOL, May god bless us.

The price is going up.

You can find a coin control guide here.
http://forum.xctalk.com/index.php?/topic/161-coin-control-basic-functions-a-newb-friendly-guide/
or here
http://www.crypto-way.com/coin-control-guide-for-xc-wallet/

Also i what to ask if some1 can make a guide for XC TOR STICK(how to use, how to burn it on flash drive - for beginers)

Cheers

Yeah that's a good idea. Of course the guide would have to change as the ISO build matures. Perhaps we should give some thought as to the best point to do that...

I have XC client in a win7 and mac pc. I sent 20 XC from the mac client to win7 client. Everything is ok; balance on mac reduced by 20 XC plus small fee and balance in win7 increased by 20 XC. However, i can't see where the 20 XC came from (which address) on the mac client. The "show transaction details" only shows where the XC went, not where it came from. How do I find out which XC address the 20 XC came from? Is is necessary to have coin control operational (not yet in mac) or is there something else I'm missing. Also, will XChat update for mac be in Rev 2 for 9/15 or for later Rev 2.5. thanks

Hi hi

You can specify which address a payment comes from by using coin control.

After the payment's made you'll need to use a block explorer to identify the address sent from. Check out the OP for a block explorer.

If you made a private payment, block explorers (and anything at all) won't help you. ;-)

I don't use Mac. Is XChat on Mac working for anyone else here?

Ok, thanks; that make sense. But when will coin control be included in the mac client

Last I tried (which was a few weeks ago), XChat doesn't work on Mac.

Just heard from Dan. It'll be working sometime before Rev 2.5. Sorry I can't give you a more precise ETA at the moment. We're pretty busy getting the finalised Rev 2 ready for Monday.

will it be possible to create a decentralised internet connection with a blockchain? I mean for using blockchain 2.0 applications we will still need to connect to the internet with a corporative internet provider.

Will it be possible to build the connection as a blockchain using the same concept as per p2p currency applied to p2p internet access trough blockchain line?

I mean will it be possible for the computer to run this Blockchain Internet connection app off-line and then this will create the network where the computer can then connect to?

I hope I made my point clear enough..

Edit: so in my mind here the computers would be the cable stations or the antennas and the block-chain would be the fibre optic.. hope it makes sense.

bumping this up for synechist

Very interesting, very radical concept.

I suppose (though I'm no networking expert), that:
- XC's forthcoming content-delivery service could be the backbone of a distributed internet
- Hardware-wise, regular wifi routers and mobile phones could be exapted to provide internet access to each other
- And centralised/mainstream providers could be given a lower priority when a node has the option to connect to a privately owned device.

This is probably highly idealistic and no doubt would be a very slow internet.

On the other hand, if Xnodes are paid if they serve content the first or the fastest, but then are also prioritised if their connection to the node requesting content isn't through a mainstream channel, then this would incentivise Xnode owners to invest in faster/better hardware. The long-term effect of this would be to wrest traffic from the mainstream channels.  My guess is that it would take a very long time for this incentive to have a significant effect on the internet.

On this topic, check out NDCoin and Xennet.

(Thanks to our very own Xander Shepherd for these links.)

you ALL go on my f*ing nerves.

Synechist it took me two messages and some showing of understanding to get him change the title from developer to team member. Can't you cut that oxford language shit for 5 minutes and sound like a real person and put yourself into the guys mind a bit. title would be gone already.

Same applies to you rdnkjdi, cause factually Synechist simply has the point. even i can't understand your stance by now.
your title is a lie and as such unacceptable for somebody setting such high moral standards to everybody and their mama who talked to jasin once in their lifetime.

in a bar we would send you guys outside now end get two beers ready for the talk out after the brawl.

Anyway fuck this shit i'm taking another week of forum break. seems bout time again.

One more thing.

XCurrency is the most exciting and ambitious project in crypto, check us out if you seek a good investment . this thread is not at all representative. Our PR guy is actually a super cool dude.

good night bitches

My apologies hoertest.

rdnkjdi, if I've come across as cold or "not like a real person" then that is not my intention. My intention is simply to appeal to reason, since in your previous posts you were strongly disposed against me, and I saw little point in trying to alter this.

slapper, I'm aware that my decision to persist here is not the only option, and it comes with a cost. But my opinion is that in this case it's the better option overall.
