is this beyond the utility collab since you mentioned Dans widespread reputation beeing the reason?

Yup ;-)

The reason other teams continue to ignore Dan's requests to hold off on collaboration announcements is they are trying to pump their coins. Anyone who has been part of our community for some time is already used to it, hope it benefits xcurrency.

Yep....see this time and time again.  Funny it never has any effect on XC though.

Do you think that XC's price would've stayed constant throughout a season where most alts took a dive if it wasn't for Dan's reputation, which ensured XC's legitimacy and trustworthiness?

Do you think that, say, XC's upcoming web 3.0 distributed content server will have no effect?

I think that Dan's collaborations have a pervasively beneficial effect on XC.

And what's likely to be the most significant effect of all is what we're going to announce very soon. It would not be possible unless Dan was widely known, highly regarded, and in personal communication with various projects.

no need for defense mode Arlyn. we take it with a smile meanwhile. looking forward to that news. is this beyond the utility collab since you mentioned Dans widespread reputation beeing the reason?

I did not mean for you go on the defensive Arlyn.  I'm in XC, and plan to be for a very long time.  In fact I've picked up 9k in the last few weeks.  I didn't mean that there were no underlying effects of the collaborations.  I just meant, visually, you see the jumps the other coins have, but XC remains the constant.

+1. I also didn't  mean for my comment to insult the team, I'm only stating the truth. And our team has no control over what other teams say and do. However, Dan can make an example as some point and say, "hey, if you don't respect my wishes, Xc is out of the collab." It may at least let other serious projects know they need to act professionally if they want to deal with xc. If they don't respect Dans request, announce prematurely, and xc bails, their coin will dump rather than pump.

Or maybe you guys can simply write up some xcontracts. Lol

Apologies if I overreacted guys. I'm down with a bit of flu, and there's been a lot of concern in the community about collaboration in the past.

Do you think that, say, XC's upcoming web 3.0 distributed content server will have no effect?

Any estimates on when that could be expected to be working and usable, considering the amount of effort for example the chat feature has required so far?

In what complexity range does web 3.0 lie compared to the chat?

Mesh-net infrastructure is already on though. That is a major part of web 3.0 content distribution. Correct me if I'm wrong Arlyn.

Is the content stored in the blockchain?

No. It'll be in encrypted local storage accessible to (though not decryptable by) Xnodes, and indexed on the blockchain.

Hi all

I can confirm that Dan specifically requested that nothing from Util be published without his prior review, but they went ahead regardless.

Dan is, however, interested in consulting with Util, specifically regarding their http-vpn tech.

Most importantly, the intention is for all collaboration to benefit XC.

In this case, our plans will benefit XC massively.

I can't release details just yet, but it's quite likely that we'll let the word out tomorrow or the next day.

It's a particularly major development.

You said that as well for QiBucks, but I have yet to see something happen with that.

Can we have a bit more information about that collaboration please?

Think we may have to wait for 'tomorrow or the next day' for that. My guess is XC nodes as exit nodes for their VPN, or something similar.

It's bigger news than that.

[Cryptico, now that's a tease ;-).]

bots seem to be gone on trex. now they share equal volume with cryptsy and i see alot of buys. me like. bring us some news Synechist. something is happening.

Something is indeed happening.

There's also a lot going on behind the scenes, and the roadmap looks insanely hardcore. But you'll all have to stay posted for now, as we're not in a position to release any news yet.

For now, suffice to say that you can expect a mix of linear developments and complete surprises. ;-)
The XC team needs to do something about this horrible price.

I know that there is going to be an ITO and that might bring the price up, but as of right now, XC seems to be dying for people that never visit this thread.

I am also noticing that only a select group of people post on the thread, I think that needs to change as well.

The term "horrible" is only relative to your subject position.

For example, it's an utterly wonderful price for investors.

As a second example, it's a sign of stability in a very volatile environment, which is pretty great too, as it indicates existing investors' faith in the project.

Don't compare the current price to XC's initial pump, unless you want a rough idea of where the price is likely to go in the mid-term future.

Is Kristov Atlas reviewing the code?

Before public code reviews by anyone start to happen, we'll first have internal consultation and audits done.

How about you answer this question?

[Linux troubles]

Sorry, I don't have the first idea about Linux-based systems.

Best thing to do is to just wait until we release a Linux version and people are around to take reports and make improvements.

A Linux version will be released once the code for Group XChat is straightened out.

innovation doesn't count in the crypto world

The opinions of women don't count in the real world.
....particularly if they work at microsoft and ask for a raise.
Or you know, you could accept that everybody has their own opinion.

While we're at it, let's also take aim at the pervasive misogyny of cryptoland.

This is such a male-dominated space. It would be lovely to have more women involved - and made to feel welcome.

Sorry been away for a bit and saw some of the updates without diving too far into them, just a quick one though with the IPO

Do I have to trade in my existing coins for it ?

anyone got a link that explains this ?

Is this 2 different coins now ?

no you don't have to trade your xc for the shares. the initial idea was to give shares to XC holders 1 for every 10 XC you hold but those numbers aren't fix yet.

it also won't be two coins. XC will still be XC like you know it. the shares will be exactly that. shares of the XC inc. company.

My opinion is, that the price is correlated to a few things like:

Rev2 was released weeks ago and we still don't have a linux and mac client, this is contra productive to the availability and useability of the coin.
I agree that a mobile wallet for android/iphone is also important but no client except a windows client for a closed source coin is a no go.
Even the tor-Stick is useless as it doesn't provide the latest version of the client (as it's also linux).

I think all operating systems should receive a client at the same time, as this is very important for the mass adoption of the coin.
It even shows that we care about every user. A new release should also provide an updated tor stick.

I think at least Rev 2.5 and Rev3 should be released after a working client exists for all major operating systems.

I, for one, can't use my coins and parked them in an exchange as i only use linux.
The current situation forces me to buy a windows license and even worse install this crappy OS just to receive and send coins.

That would only be a big deal if people are unaware that XC is still in development and hasn't launched publicly.

We're sorry for the delay, but it's just not feasible to release versions on every platform without testing the code first - which is what's been happening of late with the windows build.

In contrast, Rev 3's code will be fully ready for the public and available on all platforms on launch day.

So - what's the difference between XC now and the "Public Release"?  The public is using it already genius  Roll Eyes

I'll take your use of the term "genius" without irony.

The difference between XC now and when it's launched publicly is that now its code is still (a) closed, and (b) in active, constant development. Rev 3 is when we publicly declare it ready for mainstream usage.

Wooder, did you not notice that I said it's infeasibly time-consuming to compile builds for all sorts of platforms when the code is changing on a daily basis?

Please pay attention. It'll save you your enduring frustration.

FIBRE has expended their development funds

A "secondary offering" would be the way to go but that requires a
hard fork and a change to the float of a given coin and no one wants to do that ..

Donation requests go unanswered

So what's the plan ??
We can't and shouldn't expect Dan to carry the financial burden  ..

Triff ..

I don't think it is clear that all of the italicized above is Fibre's issue...not XC's.  Just because they are having issues doesn't mean that XC is.

We shouldn't start creating problems just because another coin has them.

Well said.

Also: has Triffin not read that we're having an ITO?

1579  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XC][XCurrency] Decentralised Trustless Privacy Platform / Encrypted XChat / Pos on: October 09, 2014, 01:26:16 PM

You're right that a level price is not what we wanted or expected for XC.

On the other hand almost every other project's price has decreased, so relatively speaking we've done very well.

To my mind this speaks of the confidence that XC investors have.

Not exactly.  Price is still off about 80% since the initial pump.

I'm not sure what that remark implies.

Not implying anything. The price of most coins have gone down as much.  The XC price hasn't done any better than other comparable coins over the last 4 months or so. DRK is down about the same from it's highs and might have performed a little better than XC.

Fair enough. I suppose we're parsing the data differently.

The initial pump is a different phenomenon to the seasonal price action for coins.

After the initial pump XC has stayed mostly flat. In comparison, most coins this season have gone down.

i wouldn't see it like this. PPC rised, ANC rised because of the expected zerocoin implementation, blackcoin rised after it's drop again.

it's true that DRK and Monero our direct competitors lost value but DRK started at the same price level we are right now but it's still at higher price level after the massive drop

It's true that some scam coins dumped but we had no lasting movement in price and this is what disturbs me most.

DRK has had an awful Summer. Its price has gone from 0.0277 to 0.006 (and tanked down to 0.002 on the way).

In comparison, XC has gained gradually.

Monero's price has yo-yoed up and down, but generally down.

Lots of tiny coins got pumped.

So it's true that most coins have gone down this season, except some random pumps. XC has stayed flat, and its lows keep getting gradually higher.

Is the correct math. if I bought 100 BTC at 0.025 and sell at 0.0067 I would have 25 btc right now that is a 200% decrease in the tot amount of BTC I initially invested are you fuking crazy guys you do not see this?Huh

Cryptico you're measuring the initial amount in terms of the remaining amount. Your 200% means that the initial amount is 200% higher than the remaining amount.

This is what is meant by the term "200% gain".

For a decrease in value, you need to measure the remaining amount in terms of the initial amount (i.e. the opposite way round). This would be (100BTC - 25BTC)/100BTC = 75% loss.
