2121  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: script to start bitcoind on: December 30, 2015, 02:08:07 PM
You might take a look at these to keep an eye on them - monit works nicely.

https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-install-and-configure-monit
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/28187786/monit-daemon-error-connecting-to-the-monit-daemon

upstart might be an option too, but I prefer monit.

It could very well be memory issues.  Turning swap on (if it isn't already) could help with stability at the expense of performance.
2122  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: script to start bitcoind on: December 30, 2015, 03:20:32 AM
I have my bitcoind on a dedicated server but every now and then I log into the server and find its not running, so i then have to restart it and wait for it to sync from where it stopped.

Is there a script I can add to my server that would automatically start bitcoind should it stop ?

Thanks guys and girls

Its on an ovh box running ubuntu but without the gui

Thanks

You could be hitting memory issues during the so-called stress tests.  Even 4GB can be too little. You can adjust various parameters to require more fees to limit this, btw.

As above, systemd is an option, there are others such as monit. These are more generic to monitor a particular process and restart it if it fails.

2124  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-12-29][BTCMANAGER.com] Tunisia to Launch the eDinar, A Centralized Digital on: December 29, 2015, 09:10:29 PM
Love this part:

Quote
Thus, the eDinar is centralized and strictly controlled by the central authority of Tunisia, making it no different from its existing cash-based financial system.

So, it is just a database.   And all of your transactions can be tracked.

How long until it is hacked?
2125  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: No Block Source Avaliable - Bitcoin-QT on: December 29, 2015, 05:52:01 PM
I see many of these errors:
Quote
2015-11-10 21:37:32 ERROR: AcceptToMemoryPool: non-final
That is fine. It just means that a transaction is non-final (has sequence numbers for inputs that are not 0xffffffff) so it isn't considered standard and thus not accepted to the mempool. IIRC the exceptions are OP_CHECKLOCKTIMEVERIFY transactions and transactions with just nLockTime.

How does that happen if I actually haven't made ANY transactions in hat wallet?

Bitcoin core is part of the bitcoin network so it is accepting and relaying transactions to other nodes whenever it is open.  Some, like the ones above, were non-standard and that is being reported.
2126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Proof of Stake - Majority of Coins Burned on: December 29, 2015, 01:14:27 AM
This seems like it is off-topic for here since it is not about Bitcoin, but an alt coin.  But the answer would depend on the implementation of the coin.

E.g. Is the network aware that the coins were provably burned?  If so, what are the designed and programmed rules for that case?
2127  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Hi i just bought some btc and now there gone on: December 28, 2015, 07:20:21 PM
Are you talking about transferring them to "blockchain.info" or the "blockchain" or something else?

Without more information - transaction ID etc - it is difficult to say what is going on or who you should speak with.

hi i bought some btc yesterday at copenhagen bitcoins and tranfere them to blokchain i see they was there..
but this morning they have all gone none transactions have been made or nothing i dont understand where have they gone
i can now see that the wallet they where transferred to from cph btc arent the same as the one i got now on blokchain?
plzz i anybody have any idea what to do im lost here....

thanks
2128  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Full node with search function??? on: December 27, 2015, 10:44:28 PM
There is, kind of. You need to use the debug console. In the debug console, you can get information about a block using
Code:
getblock <hash>

where <hash> is the hash of the block.
You can get the hash by using
Code:
getblockhashs <height>
where <height> is the block height.

You can also get transaction info by using
Code:
getrawtransaction <txid>
Where <txid> is the txid. This won't always work since Bitcoin Core doesn't index all of the transactions by default. If you want to be able to search every single transaction in the blockchain, then you will need to enable txindex by adding
Code:
txindex=1
to your bitcoin.conf file or add -txindex to the command that starts up Bitcoin Core.

That seems like a lot of hassle just to do a search. i would be easier just using blockchain.info or something similar. i wonder if they will implement this into later updates. i know its not essential but it seems like it would be kind of handy and convenient to have built into the node. it atleast gives a small bit of incentive to actually run the full node in that you can search it as well.

I think it is much more likely that the recommendation will be to use an add on web (or other) interface that queries Bitcoin core versus having it integrated into Bitcoin core itself.
2129  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What is the fastest way to download the entire blockchain? on: December 27, 2015, 07:31:16 PM
You can safely ignore most of the people saying to download a dump of it - they look to be trying to boost their post count.  As others have said, current versions are faster downloading it themselves.
2130  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Transaction not showing up on blockchain.info?? on: December 24, 2015, 09:05:52 PM
I sent .0159 btc using localbitcoins.com wallet and it isn't even on the blockchain it's been like 40 mins?? What do I do?

Several options:

1. Wait.
2. Check a different block explorer since blockchain.info may not be accurate
3. Provide a tx id so people can look to help.

2131  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: too much delay to process bitcoin on: December 23, 2015, 04:26:51 PM

let me clear this.

this address: 16ogRBbGhtR5tduKM1vEmXipurz9aXG3ps is a generated address from jostpay website.
this address is suppose to transfer money recieved to exchanger wallet address: 1JbzJgjJVTeRdbbNKJqSojSX2ZbXsCpcxy but has not transfer money to exchanger and has taken longer than expetced time

normally, when i place order to fund my jostpay acc, a bitcoin address is generated for me to send btc to, after done that, the generated acc transfer the funds to exchanger wallet and my jostpay acc is credited after few confirmations.

so in this case the generated address has taken longer than due time to transfer funds to exchanger.

am so happy you are looking into my case, thanks so much..

hope to get this resolved.

You will need to contact whomever controls the "16ogRBbGhtR5tduKM1vEmXipurz9aXG3ps" and "1JbzJgjJVTeRdbbNKJqSojSX2ZbXsCpcxy" addresses that is "suppose[d] to transfer money received to the exchanger wallet address" then.

Is that a function of jostpay or someone else?

In either case if I understand your description this is something you'd have to speak with jostpay about why the address that you sent to - 16ogRBbGhtR5tduKM1vEmXipurz9aXG3ps - hasn't been credited to your account.

2132  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: too much delay to process bitcoin on: December 23, 2015, 03:41:52 PM
That transaction already has 100+ confirmations, so this is a service problem. What exchange are you using? The only thing you can do is contact their support.

i must admit , am amazed at the fast responds.. so much thanks guys.

i am using http://jostpay.com/  and their wallet address is https://blockchain.info/address/1JbzJgjJVTeRdbbNKJqSojSX2ZbXsCpcxy
exchanger have not receive coins yet. am very worried.   i spoke with exchanger and he said problem not from his end that funds have not been transferred to their wallet.

The transaction you listed above doesn't show it transferring to the address shown in the 2nd message: 1JbzJgjJVTeRdbbNKJqSojSX2ZbXsCpcxy

It shows two transfers:
16ogRBbGhtR5tduKM1vEmXipurz9aXG3ps   2.30012215 BTC
1Ai28ooSaavi9Ger9RBHK1TQ84Bys4edhM   0.0022129 BTC

If you intended to send it to "1JbzJgjJVTeRdbbNKJqSojSX2ZbXsCpcxy" you didn't send it there in that transaction.

Are you sure the transaction number in the first message was correct?

2133  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: too much delay to process bitcoin on: December 23, 2015, 03:18:55 PM
As knightdk says, this has > 134 confirmations now so you should speak with the "exchanger" and see what the problem is.  If you say who it is, someone may be able to help you find out who to contact there.  Barring that, just go to their web site and talk to customer service.

2134  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is this BIP65 sample script standard? on: December 23, 2015, 01:07:45 PM
Although I haven't confirmed it yet I get the feeling that one can make this or in fact any other similar script standard provided that it is created indirectly via a P2SH tx (so the script itself doesn't appear as an output but instead appears as in input when redeeming).

Hmm... seems I might be wrong about that: https://blockchain.info/tx/24a44ba982e4be2865c3c84fc408079871b49baa0d8a185ce45781228e8ae56e

(hovering the mouse over the little triangle displays: This transaction has a non-standard input.)

Sad

I've seen blockchain.info incorrectly mark standard transactions as non-standard in the past, so I don't think their note is dispositive. (Eg multi-sig, iirc - don't know if they've fixed that yet)
2135  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Upgraded to 0.12 now RPC calls giving 401 Unauthorized on: December 22, 2015, 08:41:27 PM

Hmm. I just did a git clone. I thought it would be the latest stable release (I'm not that familiar with git).
The current matter branch, which is what you cloned, is now for 0.13. 0.12 is not in its own branch but it isn't stable yet. It just has feature freeze. The latest stable would be in the 0.11 branch with the v0.11.2 tag.

It would explain why I couldn't find any release notes Cheesy

For sure!  ;-)

Hopefully this doesn't indicate a bug in 0.12.
2136  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Upgraded to 0.12 now RPC calls giving 401 Unauthorized on: December 22, 2015, 06:56:53 PM
Wait, 0.12 is already out? I've just tried going into Bitcoin.org and the version availible to download is still 0.11.2 so im pretty confused... also in the "News" section above in this forum it still says Bitcoin Core: 0.11.2? Are you talking about some sort of RC version? (release candidate)

If he is running 0.12, he is running a beta - could be part of the issues.

0.12.0 is hoped for by Feb 1, 2016.

Something like should get a particular branch to be sure which one you are on if you don't want to be running bleeding edge:
git clone -b <branch> <remote_repo>

e.g.
git clone -b v0.11.2  https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin

or to update:

cd bitcoin
git pull
git checkout v.0.11.2

2138  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-12-22] Linux Foundation Unveils Blockchain, an Open Source... on: December 22, 2015, 03:39:42 PM
Somewhat sparse on details, but if the distributed ledger is shared between those 20 institutions then it is not all that distributed.  If it is to be distributed outside those 20 to businesses at large, there should be some value there to protect this blockchain, otherwise it will be much more vulnerable to attack.  Piggybacking on bitcoin (or alt coin that has value) makes more sense.
2139  Economy / Economics / Re: Europe in Crisis on: December 22, 2015, 02:10:46 PM
It took hundreds of years, lives, hard work, toil and trouble for democracies to get where they are today and it takes just a few years for a
few politicians in said countries to undo everything and take them back to mediaeval times.

They give away their money, they do nothing about religions, culture and people that threaten their very existence and ban anyone for disagreeing.
They have had enough.

They actually give away other people's money that they have taken through taxes.  If they were giving away their own money, that would be one thing.   Smiley

Is it still showing that? 389647 is the current count now.

Does it show connections?
