If I accidentally deposit $1000 to your account, I cannot just say to the bank "I'm sorry, I made a mistake, I want my $1000 back". I have to contact you and kindly ask you to send the money back to me, and you can refuse to do so for whatever reason.

Depending on who you are, you certainly can. Hence Bitcoin.

Correct. If you have an unexpected windfall at a bank (error transfer) that is classified as "not reasonable" then yes you have to give it back. Sucks, but that's life. Now if you deposit extra money to pay a debt in error then the holder of the debt does NOT have to give it back as it is a payment against the debt.

Bitcoin fixes the above issue.

That said, if someone dropped 100btc into my account by mistake I would refund it. Because it's the right thing to do and laying claim to something that isn't mine would corrupt my soul. That's worth way more than 100btc to me.

I tend to agree with you - in principle, but 100BTC?
I am pretty confident the decision to return that amount would have to age for quite some time with me.
But yeah, rather sleep well than keeping something that is not yours.

But how would you know perhaps that's a gift to you from some wealthy philanthropist? Or that's dirty mafia drug money? And giving it back would kill lots of peeps? I guess that would be a bit complicated for the owner of the funds to locate you? So not many chances you'd get contacted by the fatfinger?  Grin

I hope we're not in for years of slow downward slide again. That was demoralizing.

This is going to be THE downward slide. If you don't want to be demoralized, then sell everything, or aggressively short at maximum leverage. There will not be another bull run.

That's exactly what you told us last time...  Grin

Whats nice about the rise of the BTC now, is when I read trading-view. All bearisch TA ideas will be celebrated and liked like hell. "Awesome" here ... "see also that the btc went down 80%..." "bearish sediment" ... "bear market!"... Bla...

And all their Idea are now basically fucked... (okay, some predicted a rise to 51k and then a correction to 20k ... something like it.)

But why are they so bearish all the time? Is it, that they want to buy low? are they all short? don't understand it. Let the btc rise and shine.

I'll tell you why: because they're bitter nocoiners that's why.  Grin
2170  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 16, 2021, 05:07:49 PM
I'll be the first to admit I was wrong. We did not hit the top and my order went through. Now the price can climb or fall as much as it wants and I'll be fine either way knowing that I never have to sell again. By the next 4 year cycle there will be no fiat to sell into.

I won't be selling, I'll be buying things with bitcoins.

I cut up my credit cards years ago. I have a shitload of money on the exchange and in bitcoins but I can hardly spend any of it as I have to trade BTC with friends for a few hundred dollars here and there. I dropped all of my banks in Panama because they're assholes.

I'll let the world catch up to my lifestyle of not using banks or credit cards.

Thank God for purse.io. I was very worried when they announced a shut down last year.

That does not bode well.  Shocked

2173  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 16, 2021, 12:27:57 PM
The source as I understand it is SVT, Swedish television website, it says so in the text.

" I’ve been getting most of my statistics from SVT, the Swedish public broadcaster. They had been providing data on the share with antibodies in Stockholm up to a month or two back, when that information discretely disappeared from their website. I wonder why."

Do you really believe this yourself? Then you can easily be scammed by some 'Elon giving away coins' type of scam. Or another possibility could be wishful thinking. Grin  Grin

You must be joking? "Health and medical information grounded in science"? Maths and science yeah right heard that before.  Grin

I can see no reference on that website of what is the source of that graph? Did he just pull it out of his ass? All in all it's just another fake covidiotic website for peeps with low IQ who are buying that crap.  Grin

{...snip...}
I hope there is one last push over $50k. But I would not be surprised if we reached the top for this cycle.

Elwar, bro, what are you smoking?

We’re still early in this bull cycle, I’d estimate that the price will treble from here.

I certainly hope so. I did the sale years ago so as they say...don't let emotions play a role in your trades. It's certainly not a significant amount, but so many of the charts put us exactly where we are today years ago ($50-$60k range).

Which is awesome because the charts looking into the next 4 years are pretty amazing.

But we all know the other signs that we need to keep in mind...how many old friends that you haven't talked to in years are contacting you asking about some random shitcoin? How many people talking about $100k-$200k prices "soon".

I do believe that in the next few years we will never need to sell again. We'll just be using our bitcoin.

This is very interesting. Someone (prolly El Dude?) posted here some news about some prominent hodler and bitcoin believer selling at $48-49k. What is happening now? Old boys losing faith? Of course we risk a lot. I haven't sold anything since 2011. In case the price goes down now, I am screwed: I'm sentenced to another 4 years (at least) without Lambos, hookers & blow.  Grin Still I don't consider selling. Why? The cycle is not yet over. We barely touched all the previous blowoff tops and went down immediately which is not something we can witness at $50k mark. So we're probably waiting for a violent multi $10k pump followed by immediate heavy dump? I dunno but I have a gut feeling we (royal we of course) shouldn't sell now.  Cool

In which all shitcoins were dead.
Bitcoin broke All Time Highs

In some sense, some of us likely feel bad for him (referring to Mindrust).. because it is difficult to know how to get such thoughts to stop..

it is a kind of post hoc rationalizing after having had sold too many coins too soon (referring to bitcoin).

If fuzzes up and fucks up the thinking of maybe even the smartest of peeps - kind of demonstrating that we don't want to end up going down that road, because it likely becomes almost impossible to come back.. including the thoughts that you always want to try to stay ahead of the game a bit - but continuing to be overinvested in BTC rather than underinvested, even if a large amount of suffering might have to take place during longer term BTC price corrections that do happen from time to time and we have no reason to believe that they are not going to happen in the future, even though some peeps talk about supercycles that are suggesting that such longer and deeper corrections might not happen from here on out (that is if we enter into a supercycle).

I think mindrust's current behaviour comes from the natural protective reaction of the human mind. It protects the human from going insane, by creating (and amplifying) reasons to justify one's wrong decisions. I wouldn't be surprised to see mindrust behaving 10x like r0ach, shilling PMs and supporting 5G/alien/COVID-19 conspiracy theories.

Yeah, exactly this. I can see mindrust turning into a racist chauvinistic nazi eventually....  Cool

Haha what a joke. Some don't want the Bitcoin to reach 50k... Not yet..

Damn didn't move move my orders to buy the dip

I am one of them who does not want BTC to reach $50k as long as I get my salary and add some more into my wallet  Wink then it could go to Moon or another space  Cool
Quiet curious when it will reach the highest Peak in this run?!  In the middle or last quarter of 2021? Or first one in 2022?

My SOMA predictions tell me that around 12 June 2021 we will reach the peak of $168 020. Then the usual sideways and possibly bear market before the next bull run in the zone of $7 tril cap. I think that because of the raised institutional interest, the next bear market will be shorter and shallower compared to the previous bear markets. I expect a brief 55% local bottom correction from the last ATH $168 020, before returning to the bull run.

#confirmedbymathandscience

So one peak or two, most of us agree that we're in a bull market and this bull market is not going to run out of steam soon. Let's see if 600w's grandma was right with her prediction (80k $/EUR?) for the first peak? How many peaks are going to happen? Now I'm a bit worried about that early stage of a fee bubble similar to that in 2017. Let's see how it's going to unwind.

Yeah, it seems that the bull market is still heating up. My prediction is moderately optimistic. It is certainly possible to have a peak around $90K this Spring and another peak around $300K in late Autumn.

Possible, or sideways now until August-September and then a facemelting rally up to $300-400k!  Cool
