Could you elaborate on this claim? You mean the software itself can be harmful or it's some gullible peeps giving scammers access to their PC without realizing it? I haven't heard about anyone getting hacked by running Teamviewer or AnyDesk (without giving full access or similar silly actions). Cool

No i don't mean that software itself can be harmful, this is more threat to inexperienced users whee they give access to your computer by social engineering. If you know what the program is used for you obviously would't give an access to anyone. But scammers are always targeting the weakest, uninformed, not tech-savvy people they can manipulate.

I was referring to these guys and tactics they are encountering: https://www.youtube.com/c/ScammerPayback/
Watching them will be worth the time as they often are hilarious and contain so much scammer tears.

Yeah, I was a bit shocked as I thought there was some new vulnerability found in that remote access software you mentioned. But social engineering is of course a very powerful tool which can break any password or encryption algo. I remember I read a study regarding this and it was mentioned there that social engineering tricks were behind some 70-80% of all hacks/incidents so let's not underestimate it.
1302  Economy / Economics / Re: Russian Gas ban - A problem for Europe or suicide for Russia? on: January 17, 2023, 03:16:21 PM
This is not a scary story that Smack That Ace told us, but still the situation is not very pleasant...
No increase is pleasant, but no need to spread bs while real situation can be easily checked.

I suspect the truth is somewhere in between +800% and +40EUR.  Grin Although +800% is possible in some countries too (I heard Bulgaria had some really drastic energy price rise)
Well, I would like to hear in which Europe countries gas heating for families increased by 800%. We all know that prices increased and its not pleasant at all, but its one thing for price to increase 100% which happened in some countries but completely different to get increased by 800%.

and +40EUR is possible if you use some tricks, like solar panels or a heat pump for example (something about his sister's house the poster was not aware of).
They are not using any "tricks" like solar panels (they do plan to install them as from what I could see a lot of their neighbours have roofs of their houses covered with them) but their house is pretty new (built 4 years ago) so isolation is good which can affect how much you spend on heating (and cooling). Still, even if they lived in an old house I don't think that increase would be nowhere close to 800% like that guy from the screenshot allegedly had.

Well, if you claim their bill was 120eur last year and is 160eur this year I'm calling this claim bs. 160eur bill is only possible perhaps for a one-bedroom apartment in Germany. How big is their house? It's not a sea container sized house?  Grin

I have some info on energy prices in a few EU countries. Bulgaria and Baltic states were hit the most I guess. Electricity is up from ~5cents to ~50cents (for business consumers). Gas heating bills are up from ~100-150eur last year to roughly 300-400eur this year in the Baltic countries. I can't provide any proof like a scanned copy of energy bill but it's coming from very trustworthy sources.
1303  Economy / Economics / Re: Fiat and crypto and stock is bs, but property is real on: January 17, 2023, 02:41:16 PM
Fiat and crypto and stock is bs, but property although is just concrete but it is real.

I know all stock investor loss money and some of them are killed, but not all property investor loss money, when Elon Musk said crypto is as bs as fiat, I challenge him to prove me property is anything resembling bs.

When you buy into stock, you get snake oil, but promised it’s indeed a “business”, stock =/= business wake up. When you buy into property you indeed get the concrete box, you indeed get what you paid for, I don’t know what stock investor actually buying into, they tell me they’re buying a stock and it is a business, I try to fathom whatever they said, but stock is stock, business is business, you can’t mix something that’s totally different word by word, or context by context, or content by content, it’s snake oil and they’re buying into delusional snake oil and in the end they get thin air certificate that tell them they’re entitled to the business, it’s so funny investor are so gullible. But what is there to say, when I tell them, they’re scammed they don’t believe me and even being very hostile on me and call me retard, they think they’re getting the business when they buy the stock, what give?

I'd say everything is bs, except for crypto. Well, not really crypto but Bitcoin (yes I'm a Bitcoin maxi). FIAT can be printed without limits, get devalued by inflation or confiscated, stocks are volatile af and any company can go bust too. RE can be confiscated too, plus you have to pay land/house tax in many countries and if you don't, it will again be taken from you by the government.

Bitcoin is the only true value - it cannot be confiscated, destroyed like paper money, it cannot be eaten by inflation.  Cool

1304  Economy / Economics / Re: Russian Gas ban - A problem for Europe or suicide for Russia? on: January 17, 2023, 08:24:46 AM
Monthly gas bills increased by 800%, from 81 euros to 651 euros per month. This is the result of EU governments declaring that they have enough gas for this winter and will never need Russian gas again. This is just one of the families in Germany, but I guess this is a well-to-do family that can spend that much money. How will the poor and working class cope with the harsh weather conditions?
Cool story bro. You live in Germany/know someone there or you believe everything you see on the internet?

I spent Christmas holidays in Germany at my sisters place and we talked exactly about the gas price issue. So, they live in a very comfy 170m2 4 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms house and last year they were paying 80 euro per month for gas and this year gas company increased it to 120 euro per month. Just to add that she relatively recently gave birth to a baby so they are keeping house really warm (even too warm for my taste, I walked around the house in a tshirt in the middle of winter) and not trying to save money by freezing their asses off.

Now go check how much an average family makes in Germany and see whether they can handle 40 euro increase per month.

I am living in a Northern part of Europe and he is my cool story. Small flat around 62m2. In January 2022 bill for December 2021 the line "heating" stated 121,48 EUR. Bill for December 2022 "heating" is already 176,51 EUR + 109,98 EUR that is covered by government as a support. Country average salary is around 1300-1500 EUR. My parents live a private house, probably around 250m2, they have gas heating. Right now they have a fixed monthly gas payment around 500 EUR, but previously they have paid about 200 EUR. This is not a scary story that Smack That Ace told us, but still the situation is not very pleasant...

I suspect the truth is somewhere in between +800% and +40EUR.  Grin Although +800% is possible in some countries too (I heard Bulgaria had some really drastic energy price rise) and +40EUR is possible if you use some tricks, like solar panels or a heat pump for example (something about his sister's house the poster was not aware of).

I will provide direct remote control to the customers (TeamViewer or AnyDesk )
If you want to invite other people to do (TeamViewer or AnyDesk), you must have an account that has earned trust in gambling on this forum, currently you are still a beginner only 4 posts, you want to connect people's personal software with you, anyway I don't think people here use remote desktop apps for extra bets.
-cut-

If i may add that both of those softwares has been famously being asked to install by Indian scammers, made famous by @ScammerPayback in youtube. No one in their right mind would do any business with op who is now trying to shill his own posts with newb accounts, but i guess the target audience of OP is people lacking tech knowledge that might have crypto to steal on their computers. Perfect target audience for a scammer

Could you elaborate on this claim? You mean the software itself can be harmful or it's some gullible peeps giving scammers access to their PC without realizing it? I haven't heard about anyone getting hacked by running Teamviewer or AnyDesk (without giving full access or similar silly actions). Cool
1306  Economy / Economics / Re: More Money Problems that Bitcoin Solves on: January 16, 2023, 08:42:07 PM
Why aren't the governments of the world seeing the greater money problem that bitcoin, and not even their CBDC, can solve? Can they at least think about allowing bitcoin to coexist with their money? I'm not asking them to abandon their fiat. Can they stop hindering Bitcoin's development and begin exploring its possibilities? It hurts that they are aware of the potential of bitcoin and have decided to ignore it. The issue of inflation, which destabilizes the world, can be resolved by Bitcoin. Additional money can be printed, but more bitcoins cannot be created. Inflation occurs when there is more money in circulation than is required. This can never happen with bitcoin.

Quote
- Inflation occurs when the money supply of a country grows more rapidly than the economic output of a country.
- The Federal Reserve changes the money supply by buying short-term securities from banks, injecting capital into the economy.
- The quantity theory believes that the value of money, and the resulting inflation, is caused by the supply and demand of the currency.
Quote sourcehttps://www.investopedia.com/ask/answers/042015/how-does-money-supply-affect-inflation.asp

When will they learn that bitcoin may be helpful? What are they waiting for?

Bitcoin is so much superior to any fiat that they're afraid of it because as soon as people will understand it, they will dump fiat for good and never look back. But the truth is people are a bunch of easily manipulated, brainwashed, propaganda puppets. They're waiting for the government to allow them to use it as legal tender (like El Salvador did). Only then global hyperbitcoinization is possible.
1307  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Can you transfer large amounts of BTC using Lightning Network on: January 16, 2023, 08:45:58 AM
Is the Lightning Network used strictly for small transactions between two parties or can one party use it to send a large quantity of BTC (e.g. 35 BTC) to the other party?  Is there any advantage to sending large amounts using the Lightning Network vs. using the normal bitcoin Blockchain?

If it's that big, no reason to NOT do it on-chain. Theoretically, you could send it via Lightning (if you find a channel) but I don't see any reason to use Lightning it's simply wasn't meant for this. LN is for small, instant payments. Use the right tools - you can also hit a nail with a wrench, but it's better and more comfortable to do it with a hammer.
1308  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Risk of jail for developers. Should you be anonymous? on: January 15, 2023, 07:14:39 PM
The government cannot arrest you based on something that you did when it was not a crime. If Bitcoin was made illegal to develop then using it would also be illegal. No one can be held responsible for open source projects unless they are actively committing changes to the project after it has been illegal to do so. I think there are a lot of reasons why you should remain anonymous when developing public open source software but I do not think this is one of the reasons.

Correct, but you forget that governments are good at adjusting the laws to fit their needs. So, something which is perfectly legal today may become illegal in a blink of an eye. Then you're going to jail.  Roll Eyes
1309  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: my friend lost the password for his crytowallet. what he could do? on: January 15, 2023, 09:33:02 AM
Dear BTC members,
My friend lost the password for his bitcoin wallet. however many BTC companies offer to help him by sharing wallet.dat file.  I stopped him because of scammers.

My question is, is there a way to help recover his wallet?

please share your thoughts.

Regards

I guess you could try to bruteforce the password. Just start by installing the bruteforce software and then try to configure it by entering the data that you have (like approximate length, characters it contains etc). It should be pretty straightforward. If you'll face issues with configuration, just ask here and the community will guide you. Good luck with recovering your funds!
1310  Economy / Economics / Re: Twitter could launch in-app ‘coins’ to help creators make money on: January 15, 2023, 08:42:12 AM
Quote
The app is also working on "awards" that can be purchased with coins.

It seems Elon Musk’s Twitter is working on a new scheme to make money from the platform. The service appears to be experimenting with an in-app currency called “coins” meant to help creators earn money from the platform, according to screenshots shared by two app researchers.

The feature has been spotted in recent days by Jane Manchun Wong and Nima Owji, app researchers who often publish images of unreleased features. According to their posts, coins appear to be an extension of Twitter’s existing tipping feature. “Coins allow you to support creators who Tweet great content,” reads a screenshot shared by Wong and Owji. An image shared by Owji back in December showed a new “Coins” tab in the same section where users can keep track of their tips.

For now, it’s unclear exactly what Twitter’s plans are for coins or when the feature could launch. The company, which no longer employs communications staff, didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. But the screenshots suggest Twitter is at least considering featuring coins prominently in its app as both Wong and Owji spotted it in the main sidebar.

But coins may not be just for tipping. Wong also spotted an “Awards” feature, which allows people to use coins to buy in-app gifts for others. According to the image shared by Wong, users would be able to buy gifts for as little as one coin (called “Mind Blown”) or as much as 5000 (called “Gold”). It’s not clear how much coins will cost, though Twitter would presumably get a cut of revenue generated from coin purchases.

So far, Elon Musk doesn’t seem to have publicly weighed in on coins or awards, but he has spoken broadly about wanting more ways for creators to be rewarded. He’s said that Twitter Blue revenue would potentially “give Twitter a revenue stream to reward content creators” and that “creator monetization for all forms of content” is also in the works.

It’s also worth noting that despite the “coins’ moniker, the feature doesn’t seem to have any cryptocurrency tie-ins, at least for now. “Twitter Coin is still under development and we don't even have any evidence that it's something related to crypto,” Owji noted. “Don’t let the scammers fool you.”

Aside from youtube ad revenue has there been a social media platform offering the following features?:

He’s said that Twitter Blue revenue would potentially “give Twitter a revenue stream to reward content creators” and that “creator monetization for all forms of content” is also in the works.

I'm interested as to how they propose to deploy content creation revenue given the text limit along with limitations on server video bandwidth. Could image based memes could be considered approved content?

Could they conceivable payout decent revenue based on end users publishing a few sentences of text? Could that disrupt the freelance writing market where some authors are paid by number of words published?

They're reporting twitters proposed internal currency coins feature will not be crypto based. Which is interesting development. I think most of us expected dogecoin support. Or something similar. There have been a few previous leaks that this was coming. Although unfortunately the sources were apparently deleted before anything more than a few unconfirmed screen caps could be recorded.

While twitter's launch of a watered down version of facebook's proposed diem and libracoin projects might not be the most exciting headline anyone has seen. Perhaps this could be a step in the right direction?

Musk seems to be obsessed with coins and tokens. He went from Bitcoin to Doge, from Doge to his own coin projects etc. I mean, why does one need to reinvent the wheel? Just use Bitcoin or Lightning ffs. He's just not really happy he can't control Bitcoin I guess.
1311  Economy / Economics / Re: Sanctions at work:Russia posts its second highest deficit in the post-Soviet era on: January 14, 2023, 07:59:30 PM
Look. For some reason, everyone decided that sanctions are like a toggle switch, or a lethal injection into a vein - once, and that's it, the body cools down! No. Sanctions don't work that way. The sanctions are stretched out in time and have the goal not to try to quickly "neutralize", but to make the country's economy, financial system, industry, military-industrial complex suffer an irreversible destructive effect. It's like a boa constrictor that slowly compresses the rings around the victim's body, first immobilizing it, then it becomes difficult for the victim to breathe, and then a crunch of bones is heard. And even if the victim manages to fall out of these embraces by chance, this victim will never become as fast and strong as it was before - the muscles and tendons are already torn, the brain is already damaged from lack of oxygen, the internal organs are damaged and do not work as they should, and rather everything will no longer work as it was until recently, and the skeleton is broken and will grow together for a long time, but crookedly, causing pain later with every movement ...

You're completely delusional. A tiny Caribbean island of Cuba has been under sanctions since 1959! 64 years dammit! That's a very slow constricting boa. Russia is not geographically isolated and is self-sufficient so my rough estimate for the sanctions to start working is approximately NEVER  Grin
1312  Economy / Gambling / Re: slots.video - reinventing jupiter rising` on: January 14, 2023, 07:45:01 PM
JupiterRising.xyz is now www.slots.video
I am now using a premium domain, this domain values at $700.

I've reinvented the entire platform into a different type of casino.

Through the backend, I am now able to distribute shops.

Shops have a manager, their owner, who creates his own cashiers who are his employees.

Cashier's jobs are to manually create their shop's player accounts upon request, as well as handle their deposit and their withdraw manually.

So essentially, I am a distributor who disburses credits at wholesale to shop owners.

Depending on the amount you would like to purchase in wholesale is what determines the % you receive them at.

$900 -> 3000 Credits @ 30%
$1,625 -> 6500 Credits @ 25%
$3,000 -> 15000 Credits @ 20%
$5,250 -> 35000 Credits @ 15%
$10,000 -> 100k Credits @ 10%

Shop managers are able to create their own Helper, Rules, Faq & Article pages for their own shops that players will be able to see.

For this next week, I am willing to offer demo shops that will come with 1000 credits.
This will cost $100, after the 1000 credits you will go back to standard pricing.

+1 (209) 659 - 7070

I like the concept but as many others already mentioned in this thread it can easily turn into scam. It would be nice if this could evolve into some kind of "decentralized" or "social" casino platform that would be pretty cool.
1313  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Call centres selling fake crypto taken down in Bulgaria, Serbia and Cyprus on: January 14, 2023, 07:18:05 PM
Good news from Europol - some call centres selling fake crypto were taken down.

From time to time we may hear about people who received a phone calls with a very attractive investment proposal. Many of that people accepted the risk and gave their money to scammers. It looks like for some time we will have much less phone calls like that, as many centres has been taken down.

Some details on Europol page: https://www.europol.europa.eu/media-press/newsroom/news/call-centres-selling-fake-crypto-taken-down-in-bulgaria-serbia-and-cyprus

(do I understand correctly they inform about the action one year after, or someone made a mistake with a date? publication date is Jan 12th 2023)

These guys are really annoying. Last time they called me from Warsaw, Poland (perhaps relocated?). I still can't believe how many people are becoming victims of these scam calls. Every time I hear about them in the news, they're reporting MILLIONS in scammed funds. How can people be so gullible? Do some still believe the Nigerian prince's treasure exists?  Grin
1314  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin developer @lukedashjr's wallet was hacked on: January 13, 2023, 10:53:13 PM
This is terrible news. I wonder how these hackers got a hold of his cold wallet addresses if they were so secure. I think besides reporting such eventuality to the local authorities, or maybe even FBI, he may also ask exchanges to freeze funds with relations to these addresses so they could be returned if things go well.
Frankly, initially I thought this was FUD/hijacked twitter account. I'm too lazy to scroll through 12 pages of this thread but I suspect it turned out this indeed happened and his stash is really gone? If so, what can I say? Another proof you don't have to save but rather spend it all on Lambos, hookers and blow while you can. Roughly 20 million? That'd be enough to live 1-2 years in luxury (without buying any expensive RE for sure).  Roll Eyes
Point taken, this just puts fear to the people of this industry coz if cold wallets can be hacked remotely, what else can't be right? Then again I am pretty positive he'll get the funds back somehow, long as he knows who to talk to and where to consult.

That's how FUD works, yeah. And good luck hacking my paper wallet remotely.  Grin

Alejandra Guajardo, who represented El Salvador at Miss Universe 71, wore a costume with a Bitcoin theme. El Salvador is known as the first nation to legalize Bitcoin as a form of payment. Did Miss El Salvador cause the Bitcoin price to spike last night? We have gained $1,000 over the last 12 hours.

They just demonstrate to the rest of the world that they are prepared to move beyond simply embracing the cryptocurrency area by changing the way we perceive a cashless society. Adoption is a real phenomenon that won't end there.

If it's so, the effect is still there - I can witness some nice upwards price action right now - we're attacking $20k at the moment. If we'll breach $20k the future ahead is bright - fair chance to reach $40-50k this year and new ATH after the halving next year.  Cool

May be this is not the case and this time the machine malfunctioned, but I've heard stories of casinos and bookies refusing to pay winnings. Most of the time they're are accusing customers of trying to scam casino/bookie. In this particular case they're trying to blame it on a technical glitch/malfunction? Not nice.
