2161  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Coin Control now available in Ledger Live on: September 19, 2020, 08:32:18 PM
RBF is automatically enabled, but you can't actually use it though Ledger Live YET. They eve suggest that users should use a different wallet if you need to increase the fees on an unconfirmed transaction.
Wait... so they just mark the transaction as "RBF=true", but there is not way to actually increase the fee in Ledger Live? Huh Roll Eyes Undecided

*sigh*... it's like 2 steps forward, 1 step back with Ledger... Undecided
2162  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Is there a Mycelium node? on: September 17, 2020, 12:39:51 AM
It's a weird situation... I was helping the user on Telegram when they first posted the other evning... using their 12 words seed mnemonic and "legacy" option, Electrum only shows transactions up until the end of June (and a final balance of zero). OP swears there has been activity on the wallet since this date (as recent as last week).

Tried the "p2sh-segwit" and "native segwit" options, but they show no history whatsoever. Even tried using derivation paths for different "accounts", but no history there either. It's like the iOS version of Mycelium just started using a different derivation path at the end of June or something??!? Huh

Addtionally, for whatever reason, even after a delete, reinstall and restore, the Mycelium app on the iOS device was unable to sync properly... hopefully, when that situation is rectified, the wallet will resync correctly and show the correct balances/transactions.

Otherwise, it's going to be a "needle in a needle stack" type of search trying to figure out what the derivation path should be... Undecided
2163  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Coin Control now available in Ledger Live on: September 17, 2020, 12:31:42 AM
I was playing with it and managed to "break" it... I "accidentally on purpose" unselected all the coins, then clicked done (ignoring the red warning box)... and then it told me that I had insufficient balance to send... While that is correct, the problem is that you cannot click the "coin control" button unless a valid amount has been entered in the amount to send box!!?! Roll Eyes Undecided

Solution is to close the send dialog and start from scratch again... still, nice to see coin control and RBF included (finally!)

2164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Best way to send small amount of BTC to 200 unique addresses? on: September 17, 2020, 12:08:55 AM
I was reading up on sendmany.  Does it have to be done from Bitcoin Core, or could it be done from a GUI type wallet, and if so, where is it!?
For the record... Bitcoin Core does have a GUI... and it's easy to do "sendmany" in the GUI... you simply click the "add recipient" button at the bottom of the send screen and it will add another recipient section for another address/label/amount:

Obviously, not as easy as creating the CSV file and bulk importing 100+ payments into Electrum Tongue, but if you already have Bitcoin Core and you're wanting to make multiple payments in one transaction, it is quite simple and easy.
2165  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Multisig with a twist on: September 15, 2020, 11:01:49 PM
Or, "A" could be an "auditor"... "B" and "C" could make individual requests to spend funds and "A" has final sign off on the requisition, but "A" cannot then spend any funds on their own...

Which is essentially what the original thread was about... so that users (ostensibly "buyers" and "sellers") could request funds in the event of a dispute, and the "mediator" could authorise the payment, without "B" and "C" being able to cut them out of the deal... likewise, the "mediator" could not simply steal the funds.

It's certainly an interesting concept...
2166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Fees to high on: September 15, 2020, 10:42:29 PM
How can I transfer them without paying this soo much fee?
Have a read through this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2848987.0

Obviously, with so many inputs, the transaction you're trying to create will be VERY large in terms of raw data size, the fee is dependent on this data size. That thread will help explain what your options are for working around the high fee caused by so many inputs. However, depending on exactly how many micro payments you received, and the wallet you are using, it could be difficult to setup a consolidation transaction with a low fee Undecided

What wallet are you trying to use? Does it allow you to customise the fee? Huh
2167  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Preparing database (with bitcoin dir in another hard disk) on: September 15, 2020, 10:39:59 PM
I use the "File -> Settings..." option within the Armory GUI
https://ibb.co/RhBY0hd
I'd suggest that you remove the "C:\Program Files\Bitcoin" from the "Bitcoin Install Dir" box in the settings, just leave it blank... and then shut down Armory (and shutdown Bitcoin Core if it is running), making sure that ALL Armory and Bitcoin Core processes have stopped (double check "Task Manager" or restart your computer to be sure they're stopped). After that, manually run the Bitcoin Core GUI, wait for it to finish syncing up, then start Armory.

If that still doesn't help, then you might need to use the "Help -> Factory Reset" option in Armory.

My complete log is:
https://pastebin.com/iyuDmpdu
It's a strange one, it seems that it is definitely trying to start bitcoind using a datadir of "D:\Bitcoin", but then Armory goes looking for blocks in the AppData\Roaming directory??!? I do not think I have seen that happen before. Huh Undecided
2168  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Got Scammed by velomare on: September 15, 2020, 10:23:14 PM
i didnt get the refund, can i add flag on him? he was never going to refund anyway, 60 euro is too much for him
Yes of course... go here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;addflag=2813711

Select the: "This user violated a written contract with me, resulting in damages." option... on the next page, select the date as appropriate and use the link to this thread as the reference (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5275415.0).

Advise once you've created it, so other users can then support the flag.

He is already negative rated by two members.
Flags are better... they show up big warnings that are hard to miss for newbies and users that are not logged into the forum...
2169  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Preparing database (with bitcoin dir in another hard disk) on: September 15, 2020, 11:34:14 AM
Can you please post the complete log file? Huh (TIP: use pastebin.com rather than just copy/pasting it all into a comment directly!)

While the error you have shown would tend to indicate that the "pathing" has not been picked up correctly and it is using the wrong "Bitcoin Home Dir" value... there might be something else that isn't set quite right.

Did you simply modify the settings.txt, or did you use the "File -> Settings..." option within the Armory GUI itself? Huh
2170  Economy / Reputation / Re: flag @suchmoon / proof that suchmoon is a Chinese communist that trolls users on: September 15, 2020, 03:29:11 AM
He didn't had any reported risk or loss with his betting service until then to accuse him of anything.
No reported loss... but suchmoon was, quite rightly, highlighting the risk involved...

A relatively unknown user with little to no reputation, woken up after a long period of inactivity... wanting to "self-escrow" other people's funds, for a somewhat dubious "P2P betting service" for which they were planning on taking a 10% fee, at zero risk to themselves.

Risk Factor == High.

suchmoon's flag does NOT suggest that anyone had suffered from any financial loss at the time the flag was created... just that there was a risk of financial loss to anyone interacting with this user. This is an entirely legitimate usage of a "Type-1" flag.

And judging by the support the flag has received, numerous other users agree.
2171  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: think i was scammed but not sure how. please help. on: September 15, 2020, 03:09:35 AM
as far as saving my seed looks like i made a big opsec error. its saved in a text file on my windoes pc and also a text file on tails. the text file on windows is what probably burned me.
Yes, I would think that this is indeed where the problem comes from... it would tend to indicate that your PC has been compromised. You should seriously consider completely wiping that PC and reinstalling a fresh OS.

And in the future... NEVER store your seed on an "online" device. It should always be "offline".

coins were sent to 16jPSWsActk43MgzN9xZkwdnSpyLJk8iSH btw
Sorry, I was trying to clarify whether that is your wallet address or that is the address that the thief sent them to? Huh
2172  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: think i was scammed but not sure how. please help. on: September 15, 2020, 12:57:23 AM
... the weird thing is when i look at my history it shows 2 transactions at the same exact time. one coming in with the new bitcoin and one going out with the total amount.
It would appear that your wallet has been compromised... most likely someone else has the seed for your wallet... they were monitoring your wallet and upon seeing the incoming transaction for $1000+, they created a transaction to steal it all.

How did you backup your wallet seed mnemonic (the 12 recovery words)? Huh Did you ever store this digitally on your computer or on a cloud based server? For example: screenshot, text document, instant messenger, "note" application, email etc? Huh

What address were your coins sent to?

i went to electrum.org/ and downloaded the 4.0.3 stand alone exe. before i was using 3.3.8.
Did you verify the digital signature of that standalone .exe file using GPG/Kleopatra (as per the instructions here)? Huh

If you still have the .exe, you should download the signature file (https://download.electrum.org/4.0.3/electrum-4.0.3.exe.asc) and then verify it, to make sure that the version of Electrum you downloaded is actually legitimate...
2173  Economy / Reputation / Re: Flag suchmoon ,he is a communist supporting communist ideology on: September 15, 2020, 12:49:04 AM
Why his nickname is suchmoon? It's something from chinese world? "Such" & "Moon"
Huh? "such" and "moon" are two English words... how on earth did you arrive at the conclusion that it is something from "chinese world"? Huh Roll Eyes
2174  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: lost secondary password and some of Wallet Recovery Phrases lost too. on: September 14, 2020, 10:25:45 PM

my problem is I have lost my secondary password used for withdrawal.
They will definitely have a way to recover this.
They definitely do NOT have a way to recover this... In fact, they warned users that there was no way to recover/reset this password when a user would set it up:

They even state that they cannot reset your main password either:

Sorry I can not login. after I enter my main password the site asks for the secondary password:

That is very strange... I have "second password" enabled (as per the screenshot above), but I'm not prompted to enter it when I login Huh

Anyway, your best shot at recovery is using the seedrecovery python script that is part of btcrecover as mentioned by NotATether.

Missing 4 words is not much, could be brute-forced. Do you know the address?
What kind of address do you mean?
You will need to know at least one of the addresses that was generated by your Blockchain.com wallet (preferably one of the first 5-10 addresses that you used)... seedrecover needs this so it can check each valid seed mnemonic combination that it generates is the correct one by checking to see if it generates the same addresses that were in your wallet

2175  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Where to get large amount of testnet coins? (~2.5BTC) on: September 14, 2020, 09:57:17 PM
Where do test coins come from, is there any kind of mining?
Yes, they are essentially mined in the same way as Bitcoin on Mainnet... however there are mechanisms in place to make it (theoretically) "easier" to mine by resetting the difficulty from time to time... unfortunately, for whatever reason, some people like to use ASIC mining rigs on testnet which means they mine lots of blocks really quickly and then the difficulty increases dramatically again Undecided

2176  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Seuntjie' Dice bot programmers mode discussion. on: September 13, 2020, 09:53:32 PM
but how can i make bot stop after it had currentstreak = -10
or 10 losses and it has to win back to original balance then stop?
Saw your other post on the other bot thread...
how do we stop bot if it struck a losing streak of 10, ie, currentstreak = -10 and we need to stop it only when it wins [more losing steps may follow after hitting -10] above the original balance when it was positive?

my sample didn't work:
if currentstreak <= -10 and win then
stop()
alarm()
print("stopping after bad streak")
end

You will never have currentstreak < 0 and win == true at the same time... as soon as a win is recorded, if currentstreak was < 0, then currentstreak is set to 1... likewise, currentstreak will never be > 0 and win == false, because as soon as a loss is recorded, if currentstreak was > 0, then currentstreak is set to -1.

You will need to create your own "flag" variable... set that to true when currentstreak >= -10... then when you get a "win", check the flag and stop as required.

Something like this:
Code:
...
badstreak = false
...
function dobet()
...
  if win then
    if badstreak then
      stop()
      alarm()
      print("stopping after bad streak")
    end
    badstreak = false
    ...
  end
  ...
  if currentstreak <= -10 then
    badstreak = true
  end if
end
2177  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: BIG QUESTION : BIP 0039 on: September 13, 2020, 09:49:35 PM
I think what it is saying is that if you don't have the wordlist then you cannot confirm if the checksum is valid or not, so to display it as incorrect.
Ok, that makes more sense to my coffee-less brain Wink

I noted this in the BIP39 docs:
Although using a mnemonic not generated by the algorithm described in "Generating the mnemonic" section is possible, this is not advised and software must compute a checksum for the mnemonic sentence using a wordlist and issue a warning if it is invalid.

Gotta love "it's possible, but not recommended" type statements like this Tongue

well he blocked me in discord, and i cant send PM here cuz im new , not sure how i send him my btc address , i will wait for his reply
Please do keep us updated on the outcome of all this... I don't want to leave negative trust on a user due to a simple misunderstanding. So, if you get refunded I will be more than happy to remove the rating from his account.
2180  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: BIG QUESTION : BIP 0039 on: September 13, 2020, 11:01:18 AM
But you can just pick 12 random words without the checksum being correct.
The checksum is only a small additional and limited check for errors.
Sure... except that the vast majority of wallets do NOT allow you to use "invalid" seed mnemonics... They just say "Invalid Mnemonic" and then you can't recover your wallet. Intentionally using an "invalid" seed mnemonic is asking for trouble.

Quote
When a checksum is invalid, warn the user that the phrase is not something generated by your app, and ask if they would like to use it anyway. This way, your app only needs to hold the wordlists for your supported languages, but you can recover phrases made by other apps in other languages.
I don't see how this could possibly work... if you don't have a wordlist in a given language, how are you meant to convert each "word" to the correct 11bit binary sequence? Say I gave you a menmonic in a different language like this:
Code:
tahi rua toru wha rimu ono whitu waru iwa tekau kia kaha
Without the matching language wordlist, what chance do you have of converting that phrase to the correct 132 bits? Huh

Quote
So if you have a mnemonic that has a false checksum verification, it doesn't mean that it can not be used.
It also means that you most likely won't be able to use it easily on the vast majority of BIP39 compatible wallets... there are 1 or 2 that are exceptions and will allow you to use "invalid" seed mnemonics, but they are definitely the exception rather than the rule.
