Newegg.com has the Arctic 7 cooler on sale with a $7 dollar discount now. Limit of 5. Just picked me up some for the build.

How about this. I throw in a S1 no power supply and it has not been over clocked and 1 additional Avalon module. So this gives you 1 4 module Avalon, you will need to up the power supply to 1000 watts and 1 S1. Gives you a total of 280gh of power. I live in So Cal so the shipping cost will be very cheap.

Trade you a Avalon asic first generation. Getting around 80ghs. Including 750 watt power supply for your 3 750 TI gpus

Bob,

I will have 4 chips leftover from my X3 conversion. Do you think it is possible for me to pay minersource  USD of $275 and get a extra miner? Otherwise I will have to do something with the 4 chips. I was thinking about having the extra chips made into an additional miner but then trying to coordinate this along with the group buy would have been too confusing for all.
225  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $0.49/GH/s on: July 30, 2014, 05:26:06 PM
has blackarrow account being hijacked? that's not the way to deal with customers, even if they may not be real customers..

Still not sure why anyone in this thread is being called a non-customer.  BA is basing that off of assumptions because we won't tell them order information because they have threatened in the past to withhold compensation or move troublemakers to the back of the order line.  So any sane person would keep that completely hidden.

And yes, you are correct, that is no way to deal with customers.  Then again, BA is barely a real company, so it kind of makes sense in a backwards kind of way.

Blackarrow had good intentions but their execution leaves a lot to be desired. They were dishonest about their time frames and knew they couldn't make their production dates yet still sold units based on false dates. Shame on them for misleading their customers and shame on us for believing them and their BS. I am a firm believer now in no pre orders.  This allows companies to take your cash and then give you the finger when they are late or don't deliver. Only buy in stock. Should have waited for S3's  Sad Live and learn.
226  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 22, 2014, 09:42:32 PM
then whats the points of it?

It's called a hobby. Ever heard of the term? I know guys who have spent over $100,000 fixing up cars. They won't ever get ROI on their hot rods but they don't care. It's what they are passionate about. If you don't understand then go buy some BTC and sit on it.
227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Help me decide which miner to buy! on: July 20, 2014, 06:53:50 PM
I have some cash to invest in scrypt miners and after a bit of reading I found a bunch of companies.
Alpha, Flower Technology and Fibonacci.io are really falling behind and i think don't have a prototype yet.
Then there's KNC and GAW, where we have a well known but troubled company vs a fairly new one that hasn't released their first miner yet.
I'm leaning towards GAW because they promised refunds vs no refunds from KNC and you are getting more MH for the same money.
The only thing that made me consider KNC in the first place was the delivery time, but GAW recently said they will match this. What do you guys think?
And please don't  say things like "mining is dead don't buy miners". I have cheap power and used to GPU mine years ago.
Let's concentrate on the pros and cons of each company and product for now.

tl'dr  Which miners should I buy and which are the best for reasonable cash, on the market now?

Promises and delivery dates don't mean a thing to ASIC manufacturers. They can promise the moon but few deliver on those promises. Only order what is available from stock. That is now my motto. You pre order based on a promise of refunds and delivery dates you are taking a big risk.

Also im curious on what to do next..

Do you need some help on keeping track on eveything bob, marto?

- How can we place an order at TB or does bob arrange all that?
- How do we let marto know where to ship (mine needs to stay in the EU)?
- What about individual chip transfer? ( Cortex7 - 2x minion  --> y_boonstra , and other ppl like us ).

Best will be if you place an order with technobit site
and use tracking and code from minersource.
This way I'll know where to ship.
And minersource will provide me with the list of every sending with the chip owners inside and quantity.

Thx a lot marto.
You both are doing a hell of a lot better than BA ever did, much appriciate. .

+1.

BA needs to send a big thank you to Bob and Marto for saving their bacon. With out their assistance, more customers would be demanding a refund.
229  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $0.49/GH/s on: July 15, 2014, 11:26:16 PM
Do you know what is such a sad state of affairs? Back in November I was looking at three companies that had miners I could order for Feb 2014 delivery. I wanted to order from Bitmain but they were sold out and I didn't know when then next batch was coming. Also the S1 was only 180 GHs and the other guys were 1 to 2Th.

So instead I looked at Blackarrow, Hashfast, and Cointerra. Of those three dogs I thought  BA had the least fleas.  Forward to today. Hashfast is bankrupt, Cointerra is going down fast, and Blackarrow is slowly sinking.  Bitmain is the only one that is thriving.  Undecided

I would not start celebrating just yet. Blackarrow said they would not do any refunds until after shipping all orders. Have they sent you the BTC? If so please post the tx.id
231  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Minion Chip Assembly GB on: July 15, 2014, 04:01:54 PM
Probably the easiest would be to let Bob handle the extra chips and so if you have 4 extra chips, he will sell you a completed board for $160. 2 extra chips, he will sell you a board for $240. If Minersource could do this I think this would make it easy for people with extra chips to get another miner.
232  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Minion Chip Assembly GB on: July 14, 2014, 11:30:40 PM
1 board holds four chips you can pay for the board with 4 more chips but you have to pay for shipping in cash not chips

So 1 complete board costs 6 chips + shipping?

No 8 chips.. about shipping costs i dont know..!

Just to make sure I have this straight. It costs 8 chips as payment, 4 chips to actually mount, plus shipping? So for every 2 X1's converted (12 Minions) you can get 1 complete Technobit (Minus coolers and power) for the cost of shipping?

Each Minion board requires 4 chips to complete. Marto will take 4 chips as payment for 1 board. So if you are using chips for payment you need a total of 8 chips for 1 board. Plus you need to pay shipping because that is not covered by Marto in the 4 chip payment.  In your case with 12 Minion chips you can pay Marto to build 3 boards or give him 4 chips and he will build you 1 miner. You will then have 4 chips left.
233  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: how to mine bitcoin without a pool? on: July 13, 2014, 04:36:31 PM
Yeah, not worth it.  Solo mining alts can be OK but with Bitcoin it doesn't make sense without a large scale farm, haha.

All it takes is luck my friend. You get lucky and a block is yours. How much can you really earn with less that 1 TH on a pool?  You are better off I think just trying to get lucky solo mining.
234  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $0.49/GH/s on: July 13, 2014, 04:26:17 PM
I see no evidence that they have all of the parts to complete X3 production. They stated they have only made 10% of the backplanes. No LCD's and who know how many power supplies they have in stock. It could be none because they are selling what they have to generate income to keep their operations afloat. This situation looks like Hashfast part two. Delays and broken promises. Deliver a few units to make people think they are ok then bankruptcy.
235  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $0.49/GH/s on: July 13, 2014, 03:17:16 PM
BA has already been dishonest about dates. They kept on claiming they would ship in February and that they were on schedule then when the deadline hit nothing was shipped. They then extended their deadlines and made excuses as to why they couldn't ship. Now they claim end of July for X3 shipments. Why should we believe anything they say?
236  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $0.49/GH/s on: July 13, 2014, 04:49:46 AM
2.We have already manufactured 10% of the X-3 backplanes which are now in SMT line for assembly. We expect to deliver them by 12th of July

3.Deliveries of all X-3 current orders will be completed by the end of the month.

Where is our update?  Hopefully we will see it today!

So 10% of X3 orders should have shipped by now, anyone received shipping info?
This is the last 'promise' I'm taking from BA for my X3s.  All orders 'WILL' be shipped by end of the month!  Totally looking like a loss but still have hope of BTC price increasing.

They have only made 10% of the back planes. They are probably mining with the X-3s they have built so that they can refund customers, build more back planes, and get LCD's. They said refunds would happen only after all orders have shipped? Why is that? Because they don't have the money for more parts. Why else would they ship units missing parts such as the LCD.
237  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: head banging on: July 12, 2014, 02:22:05 PM
I just want to mine for the fun of it. In the past with GPU mining I got some cool stuff for the house with what I made. I don't ever expect to make back the investment in time and coin if I get up and running but I have to try to get it running. I think I prefer pool to solo mining more likely to get something even if it is only a few satoshi's, hehehe. Cheesy

The point others are making is... you are not only NOT going to make money with it but you will lose money because old BFL gear now uses much more electricity than it can possibly generate in BTC. I have 3 Singles in my garage that have done nothing except collect dust for the past few months.

Your only hope is to mine some wacky alt SHA coins and speculate on them.

If he solo mines and hits a lucky block he gets 25 BTC so how is that losing money? All about luck and having fun. Sometimes it's not about ROI.
238  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Closed]R17x: Black Arrow Prospero X-3 <DZMC Exclusive> $130 / 40GHS on: July 11, 2014, 11:19:00 PM
What is going on with this?

There has been no email or newsletter to my knowledge, well known sent to my email address.  The old website no longer exists and new one doesn't have anything about the group buy?

Do I have to troll through this thread and try to read between the lines of Thomas and Co who don't like communicating?

frustrated  Angry Huh
Well I could give you the abbreviated update, so you understand why there is nobody in DZ that gives a shit anymore. That is:

a) R17 was a setup, they  (DZ people) didn't give our money directly to Black Arrow, instead it went to their 'mate' a newly signed up Black Arrow reseller called minersource known here as bobsag3.

b) When things started going tits up, minersource did provide bitcoin (not fiat) refunds to those that asked a few month ago. Since most of us paid when BTC was > $800 that was a tidy profit for them!

c) In mean time, minersource have now 'employed' the DZ person that was supposed to be looking after our interests thomas_s.

d) As time has progressed and things have gotten worse, any new requests for refunds have been refused by minersource. There is of course nobody left in DZ to fight our corner.

e) BA expect to ship at end of this month, but have openly admitted the X3 is nolonger competitive but have failed to up the compensation, so instead they are offering raw asics as an alternative to taking delivery of X3's as an option. The three main problems with that deal are: 1. Only one company can do anything with those asics in terms of wiring them into a hashing board, in Bulgaria, with at least two weeks lead time. + shipping times! 2. You need to shell out more money to do this or give up half your chips as payment! 3. By the time all the above is done you will be lucky to get your money back hashing.

f) Those that stick with R17 will have to wait till August to see X3's hashing (maybe!) and even then we will be very lucky to see more than $1 in 3 of our investment back!

So we are royally up the keiber without a paddle!!

I think the only viable option is getting chips converted. By the BA press release they only have the ability to make 10% of the X3s because they don't have any more money to build backplanes.

The evidence I have for this is that they won't give refunds until after all units ship. They need all X3s to mine with to generate income. They will mine until they have the BTC to pay for refunds, LCDs, and backplanes.

If they had the funds they would have built 100% of the backplanes.

They claim a problem with the LCD manufacturer that is why no LCD. But could it be that they ran out of funds so they couldn't purchase LCDs for their units?

They used up all of their funds for the chip build.  They can offer conversions to chips because that is what they mostly have.

There will be a PR today or tomorrow with some sort of excuse for why they aren't shipping X1 in quantities but they are still on schedule to ship X3 by end of month. This is all a smoke screen.

IMHO the only solution to this mess is chip conversion and having Technobit build a miner. I see no other hope.

239  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Minion Chip Assembly GB on: July 11, 2014, 09:29:50 PM
Give me a model and I'll test it

Can you provide a picture of the base heat sink and fan on the Minion board? I want to see about some sort of mount for the miner.
240  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Minion Chip Assembly GB on: July 11, 2014, 05:54:20 AM
So what happens to our left over chips bobsag3

Maybe for those with a X-3 order. For each X-3 if we pay Bob $160 we get an extra miner? So a total of 13 completed boards with no left over chips.
