121  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] KNC Titan Scrypt Miner. ** no bad dies** 325+ MH/S w/ psu on: September 23, 2015, 08:55:52 PM
I'm ready to bet that you will mark down the price soon.  Wink

There are still presents an offers to buy 256 Mh/s miners for about 1000 USD without shipping.

Where is this Alchemist Miner 256 Mh/s  for 1000 USD not including shipping? I will buy now with escrow.

I have a HEX4M blade for sale. It has a custom heatsink and comes 5 120mm fans. 4 of the fans are Noctua fans. .5 BTC and I will ship to you as used computer parts to save on duty.
123  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: my computer got hacked and my BTC and LTC is gone what can be done on: June 30, 2015, 10:01:12 PM
Well that really sucks.. cause anything transferred or any bitcoin transaction for that matter is non-reversible.

Unless the person who stole your bitcoin returns it to you out of some moral sympathy. I`d try to contact that person if its possible, and say hey you got me! I`ll send you $40 starbucks gift card or something along those lines or something, boasting his/her ego.

Hard lesson learned. Get a cold wallet.
124  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: my computer got hack and my BTC and LTC is gone what can be done on: June 30, 2015, 08:10:08 PM
Did you log into your bitcointalk account from the same computer that you downloaded the alleged malicious attachment? Do you have an AV?

How strong was your wallet password? Did you use the same wallet password for anything else? Did you have your wallet password stored in plaintext anywhere on your computer?

Txids of the transactions?

I have Norton on my computer and it blocked the malware or so I thought. But then the next day I checked my wallets and all my coin was transferred out. I don't have the pw of the wallet written down so don't know how they got past that. Really sad.

My computer was hacked last night. I was stupid and clicked on a email I should not have and before I knew what happened my coins were transferred from my wallets. I had PW set on the wallets but still they were able to transfer out. Is there anything I can do or is it gone. Really sucks.

I recieved my batch 2 titan finally after months of waiting. I requested a refund, knowing that there is no chance in hell i can get any ROI now. Since I've got it now, I want to send that thing back, and press on with litigation through Magnus Daar at Nova. Has anyone been in a similar situation where you you returned their titian junk back to them? I don't know where to ship the thing

So if you returned the Titan and then the next day LTC shot up to $100 a coin would you then ask KNC to ship the unit back to you? I know it sucks to buy something which is then shipped late and  LTC price is not helping. But most know buying a piece of mining hardware is a risk. You are either comfortable with the risk or don't buy. KNC also has not done any favors by shipping defective units. I have a Titan and I know that I won't ROI any time soon or maybe never. But this was the risk I took. Hiring a lawyer and trying to fight it out with KNC I believe is pointless.
127  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: TECHNOBIT fucked us on: March 26, 2015, 06:59:34 PM
I am not sure what miners you are talking about, but as far as i know they are just a shop which orders from other companies who make a deal with them to sell miners.
Never seen them have own brand miners in shop.
I think you ordered one miner which probably was from a company which disappeared.
Their are plenty which was going to deliver in feb. but went offline or never answer if you mail them

Worth mentioning that Technobit had a deal where you could trade them Black Arrow chips and get an assembled Black Arrow board with a couple fewer chips.  This was back in July and they claimed they'd be shipping in a couple weeks.  Minersource did a deal where they traded a lot of the Black Arrow orders they owed but couldn't get because Black Arrow couldn't seem to ship anything not crappy and/or explosive.  As far as I know, though, Minersource never had money from that, they simply traded chips from Black Arrow to Technobit.  As far as I know no one on that deal got any hardware ever.  Supposedly there were some bad parts put on the boards, which caused the initial delay.  Our hosting center should have had quite a few of the Technobit boards, and we even offered Technobit to do the repair for free on the boards that should have come here.  They talked with us a bit then never said anything to us after.  They had plenty of stock and have shipped the same boards to other people, but for some reason I haven't heard of one of the orders through that big Minersource trade going through.  I wouldn't deal with them after seeing this.

Everything above is as far as I know- and I didn't order anything from them so that might not be too far, but we were discussing helping them fill that minersource order, possibly doing more than just the assembly on boards to be hosted here- and they suddenly went dark on us, all while their website claimed they had the exact same boards in stock and shipping.

Never had a problem with Technobit. I converted my Black Arrow chips to 2Hex4M miners thru the Minersource deal. Happy with them.

Sent a broken Titan module and a month later got a 100% working one. Am I lucky or is KNC doing a better job of supporting their customers.

Got a tracking number for my bonus miner. Should be here by Friday.  Cool
130  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: TECHNOBIT fucked us on: February 19, 2015, 01:49:58 AM
I never had any bad experience with them. I converted my Blackarrow chips to 4hexm miners and they have performed well.
131  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Spondoolies SP35 - Heat + Noise on: February 16, 2015, 01:34:56 AM
Yes I presume a lot. Could his work be ok with the increased cost of hosting a SP35? Sure. He could be trading his services for the hosting of his equipment. In this case it could be a good exchange for both parties. If everyone is aware of what is going on and ok with it then I say more power to him and why not buy a second SP35 and have them foot the electric bill. If they really don't know and he values his job then better make sure they are aware so he doesn't get fired.  All I am saying.

If the CFO is talking about a $600 increase for the electricity bill of a TEST RACK, I would not want to work there. The parking lot lighting is more than that usually, and no one remembers to turn it off.

So what you are saying then is if they don't notice or don't care then it is ok to steal $600 a month from work.
132  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Spondoolies SP35 - Heat + Noise on: February 12, 2015, 11:45:26 PM
Ya I doubt that the people in charge know that their electric bill is going to go up 600 dollars.  Here is the conversation.

CFO: Why did our electric bill go up $600 dollars?
IT: We let a developer run a SP35 server FOC. Must be using a lot of electricity.
CFO: Unplug it right now. No way we are covering a $600 dollar bill.

If this were your business would you be ok with a $600 dollar increase in your electric bill?

You presume a lot with this post, it's entirely possible that could happen but I sure hope the basic questions like how much power would be used were asked by the authority approving permission..

We allow things like that to run knowing exactly what it will cost, the treatment of facility costs vary depending on the business but in our case it is a fringe benefit for employees and we know exactly what we are doing.. Another local facility provides 220V 30A as a benefit for the same purposes, in short while you make a valid point it's entirely possible it's no issue for them...

NOTE: I am not rubbishing your response all input is very valuable to me but I am struggling to get past all of the people who say " you will never profit/break even mining is a waste of electricity. the difficulty is too hard" I would like a balanced argument on both sides.

I am also confused by this argument. I see a profit can be made if you stay efficient with your set up.
I think that is because I don't see the word "Millionaire" when I read the word profit.
ALOT of people on here say mining is dead and gone, BUT they still do it!!!
They're on here everyday posting/reading topics and posting pics of their gear,...so if it's not profitable, even a little
WHY ARE THEY STILL HERE???

I think you're in a good position to make a Profit---Go For It!!!

In the UK the averate cost per kw is .24 cents. So 20.76 dollar a day to run. 622.08 dollars per month. If he gets 2 BTC per month at 220 per BTC his net loss per month is 182.08 dollars. How is this a profit?

from the sentence that says "My work is allowing me to host this unit FOC in my test environment where all costs are covered (Power & Data)".
Especially the part--all cost are covered.

Yes I read where he said this, however I don't believe his work knows how much electricity the SP35 will be using. His other 5 servers seem to be dell r710. At 500 watts each that is 2.5 Kw of electricity. The SP35 at full speed will be doing 3.6 Kw. So they are going to be seeing more than a 100 percent increase in the electrical cost associated with this rack of equipment. I don't think they would be willing to cover a 600 dollar electric bill per month FOC if they knew. I want to see how they feel after a few months of big electric bills.

The op posted that the company is relocating the existing equipment AND the SP35
to a better controlled environment that is going to have upgraded power.
It sounds as if the op has talked this over with the people "in charge".

135  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Quiet, preferably wireless miners on: February 12, 2015, 12:43:04 AM
1 option is to use syscooling designed S5 water cool module with a higher quality pump from Ebay...

then you could have over 2TH (2.3 - 2.7TH out of 1 unit), however the PSU is not included.

You can use the server grade PSU to lower the expense if you are in the environment with no flammable items around the mining operation.  Other wise, high end regular ATX computer PSU to power them up!

Just wondering which ASIC bitcoin miner would work with the following parameters:

Quiet (in the same room as me)
Preferably wireless, but can be ethernet.
The more power efficiency the better
If it comes with it's own PSU or it is built in, that would be great too!

I currently have a s3 that I got for $200 Canadian with a Power supply which seems like a steal, but would love to get more hardware.

Thanks!
-Dave

Get a antminer s4, run the quite fan mode to get the fan speed down to 2800 rpm. Pretty quite guy.

Funny how people always change their tune. The same people who said in the summer of 2013 that BTC mining was dead and no point in doing it were then the same people buying antminers s1 up the ass in December because BTC price when over $1000. Now with prices low again the same people now saying again that mining is a waste of time. Yes mining now is very difficult. Given the low BTC price and difficulty you are not going to make a profit or cover your cost. Unless you own a dam and are making your own electricity, you will not cover your electric cost for running the miner or air conditioning. Some people can mine at a loss with the hope of future profit. This is a good time now for the hobby miner, not so much for the big mining farms.

Here is something sad. The top hasher at litecoinpool.org is making 93 ltc per day. This is less than $180 USD.
139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: February 03, 2015, 07:00:27 AM
Yeah, I used to be pretty bullish about LTC.. No longer. I really think it's future is sub 50 cents.

Hum well sub 50 cents. If I can mine 20k LTC then I will have made ROI.  Cheesy  So if the hash rate stays the same, in 10 years I will have mined 20K LTC. I don't think my Titan will last a year let alone 10 years. Sad My only hope is $10 LTC.

140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: February 02, 2015, 10:54:30 PM
KNC has really gone to hell. I got an underperforming Titan that has bad dies. My only goal now to mine 1000 LTC and pray to the sweet crypto gods that LTC will get back to 10$ and I will have some sort for ROI.  Smiley
