221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is Going to the MT Gox Creditor Meeting and What Will You Do If You See Mark on: July 22, 2014, 01:10:29 PM
I dont think I would want to go, and if I did, I probably wouldnt say or do anything if I seen Mark.

I guess you'd be thrown out the court room if you attempted to do anything stupid. We have a more or less functioning legal system in most developed countries in the world for a reason!
222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Physical Coins - Need Help on: July 22, 2014, 01:09:23 PM
There are some where you supply your own key or kits that you put together, i would suggest that if i were you.

Do you supply your public key or also the private key. If you also supply the private key it doesn't really matter who created it, the person manufacturing the coins will then have access to your BTC!
223  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Books on Bitcoin on: July 22, 2014, 01:08:11 PM
Read the paper by Sathoshi Nakamoto. It covers the basic principle of the whole experiment. Those principles haven't changed. The core bitcoin system also remains the same. The rest, though, is in heavy flux and books will be quickly outdated!

I have read the paper many, many,  times. Sure.
I understand 95% of it, I would say.

In the meantime, I can hardly say I understand 40% of the Bitcoin-Qt code. Probably much less, actually.
I really miss some books to help me out...

I gotta admit I haven't looked into the Qt code myself. But I hear it's not that well documented, is it?
224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: who are those 1% of the new world order of bitcoin economy? on: July 22, 2014, 01:07:21 PM
currently about 1% of address has more than 5 bitcoins..

when it comes to wealth inequality bitcoin is same as the old financial order.

so those who own more than 5 bitcoin, will they become the 1%...

then who are those 99%? ..

one good thing is the 1% of bit economy could be from the 99% of old economy..

if decentralization does not solve wealth inequality, what else will?

Only governments and regulations can solve that problem. Only when there's a country offering enough incentive to remain there while adhering to rules that may force you to pay a lot of taxes (because of your high income) things may change for the better!
225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has anyone that stole BTC have been caught, ever? on: July 22, 2014, 01:05:45 PM
Mark Karpeles. sort of...

actually yes Smiley

Karpeles is like OJ.  we all know he's guilty...but he's evading justice.

although in the end OJ ended up in prison.  we can only hope justice
finds Karpeles too.

At least Karpeles didn't kill anyone! Oh wait, didn't some CEO kill herself because her BTC were on Mt. Gox? I wonder how many lives have been ruined by the downfall of Karpeles. Do we have any numbers?
226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Physical Coins - Need Help on: July 22, 2014, 01:04:35 PM
You can only be sure if you're supplying a public key that's being printed on coins. But the private key should remain in your possession. You have to take care of it yourself. Never release it!
227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is Going to the MT Gox Creditor Meeting and What Will You Do If You See Mark on: July 22, 2014, 01:03:20 PM
I hear he will be there

I guess there are quite a few people who will want to throw an extra-cold Frappucino in his face  Undecided
228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin via SMS? on: July 22, 2014, 01:02:30 PM
Oh sorry didn't read that part cause I saw you say send and just reacted like to do to all other sites and google searches that say buy via SMS then comeup with only being able to send, and yeah those are scams

So I guess you better stay clear of those then  Undecided Maybe charging you via a telephone bill just isn't safe for the service provider since they may not receive their money but you have the bitcoins, which can't be charged back by definition!
229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Using 2FA to guard against Bitcoin theft. Do you back up your 2FA codes? on: July 22, 2014, 01:01:12 PM
yes i always backup my 2FA QR. by take a screenshot on it Tongue
because i usually try new ROM in my phone, sometimes bad things happen and i can't access my phone Sad
i recommend you to backup when you set a new 2FA

So you use custom/rooted software to run your phone and keep screenshots of 2FA codes? That basically calls for an accident to happen!
230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Bitcoins are not stolen .. on: July 22, 2014, 12:59:29 PM
Surely having to go to such lengths to protect your Bitcoin is only going to make it harder for mass adoption?
Things will change in time. Bitcoin will become easier, more user-friendly, more secure for the average joe.

When that happens, you will know. Because you will be rich.

'If that happens', I guess! We can't know for sure if the whole experiment succeeds. Well, the experiment will succeed anyways, it already has. But if the technology 'Bitcoin' will succeed remains to be seen.
Also, maybe we won't be rich if our Bitcoins are stolen before that happens  Tongue
231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has anyone that stole BTC have been caught, ever? on: July 22, 2014, 12:57:29 PM
Didn't Klee get like 1100+ BTC stolen from his wallet and has already received over 550 back?  Sounds like the hacker is getting scared because people are finding out about him.

Anyway I can't imagine the authorities would even look kindly on hacking and thieving...since Bitcoin is considered property in the US, perhaps it would be theft still I am not sure how that works exactly.

Um, I guess he just extorted Klee by asking him to promise he wouldn't go the legal route and just forget about the whole thing. In return he'd return some percentage of the BTC stolen. Klee agreed, I really don't know what I'd be doing in such a situation!  Undecided Poor guy!
232  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Books on Bitcoin on: July 22, 2014, 12:55:37 PM
BTC is too young to have High Quality books as there are no real experts with long time expirience in it, as..well...BTC itself is not around long enough.
And yes...remotemass  is correct....coders will always saY: "Best book about bitcoin you can get is source code itself", and yes, i agree there is need for something like that.
There is a document that goes that path here: https://github.com/minium/Bitcoin-Spec

People often need multiple years to write a good book. Even if someone started a book on bitcoin back in 2009 when the paper was released, they would've maybe just finished the first chapter.
Donald Knuth hasn't even finished his series! Heck, he even invented a typesetting system (everyone uses nowadays) in order to write that book!
233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin via SMS? on: July 22, 2014, 12:54:00 PM
I don't mean to send bitcoin I never said send, I mean to full on buy it, how can I send it if I have none

I know, that's why I posted a link for a service that claims to do exactly what you're looking for. But like I said, be careful, people say that it's a scam. Always be careful and google if a service you're about to use may be a scam.
234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First airline to accept Bitcoin for payment - AirBaltic on: July 22, 2014, 12:53:02 PM
Talking about annual revenues, does someone think we could argue that it's smaller than Dell, or not?

airBaltic 2013 revenue €325 million
Dell 2013 revenue $56.9 billion

No comparison here, is it?

Ha, so a company now needs to exceed multiple billions of USD in revenue in order to be a good thing for bitcoin's growth Cheesy
Hey, on the other side... if it it true, look how far we've already come!
235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Books on Bitcoin on: July 22, 2014, 12:51:32 PM

236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dell: Bitcoin Aligns Our Brand With Innovation on: July 22, 2014, 12:50:10 PM
'Aligns our brand with innovation' - Ha, yeah that sounds like they took the idea from a textbook on how to create a 'cool' brand. Maybe they just need to do some memes or develop a mascot in form of a cool kid with a skateboard!
237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New York’s New Bitcoin Rules Are Going to Kill Its Startups on: July 22, 2014, 12:48:37 PM
I think the theory that the whole proposal just being a 'foot in the door' is interesting. They post those restrictive rules only to publish the
'real' rules afterwards and everybody will be happy that they've been relaxed! Talking about human psychology!
238  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin via SMS? on: July 22, 2014, 12:47:11 PM
That'd be an interesting system. I don't know whether such a system exists, but you can send BTC via SMS. You can even send BTC via effectively every means of communication!
Quick google-search yields a site that may be a scam, beware! https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=252145.0
239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has anyone that stole BTC have been caught, ever? on: July 22, 2014, 12:44:37 PM
The most amazing thing is that the guy who sent 800 BTC to Mt. Gox after it already went belly-up, got his money back. He wrote to some people at the Bitcoin foundation and also to the lawyers organizing Mt. Gox's insolvency, and he got them back! Fat chance!
240  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 5 Bitcoin Trends That Have Emerged in 2014 on: July 22, 2014, 12:43:08 PM
Big retailers accepting BTC. It remains to be seen whether they do that because they actually like bitcoin or want it to succeed, or they just want to hitch a ride on the media-bandwagon
