It prevents cheating and provides stability.

It is like voting for politicians. You give them power for a period of time. Otherwise, the political system would be not stable enough.

Btw. you can transfer you NXTs out of your account to reduce your effective balance (and therefore the leased out effective balance).

oh great, I didn't notice the Period of leasing field, looks like NXT has it all covered pretty good Smiley

For more knowledgeable NXTers, question on account balance leasing,

I see there "Remember: Once submitted the lease cannot be cancelled."

how come? I mean what if I want to change the forging pool later or go back to solo forge, is there no way to do that?

It was 183 BTC Smiley

it's a little smaller now, let's hope, it only grows from now on Smiley

Stupid question, but how do I solo mine on linux?
If I start the ./bitmonerod daemon, does it solo mine automatically?
When I exit it, it says mining has completed or something like that, does it mean it is mining while running?

True! No ETA yet

That's fine, there is a good buy wall forming @7000 in anticipation, might be the new floor from now and for the long bright nxt future Smiley

It always amazes me that people think this coin will actually succeed... People can't even figure out how to say the name lol.  Not to mention the faulty distribution model, and resultant declining network security.

Doge was a joke guys... It'll be over this year.

yeah yeah, see you in a year Smiley

If people thought it was dog meat, that would be even MORE advertisement. It'd be all over the news and then someone could clarify it and it would have a viral effect. That would be MASSIVE.

You're right, except for the fact that McDonalds wouldn't allow such an ambiguous name to be listed, because it's them who would have to explain after perhaps some lawsuits that customer didn't realize they were eating dog meat haha... but it could slip by someone busy and get in too Wink

It just sounds so awkward now. And it's not doggy, it's dough-jee (as was brought up a couple weeks ago).

It'd be awesome if McDonalds would also accept Dogecoin for the burger, even if for nothing else but the promotion.

yeah I know it's dough-jee, but people not familiar with that at all would see Doge in the menu and might just think it's a misspelled dog meat burger or something Smiley

Can only dream of McDonalds accepting Dogecoin now, perhaps next year Smiley

What's DGS?

I put in my vote! I wonder why they didn't just go with Doge though instead. "McDoge" sounds better than "McDogecoin."

Voted too. Probably because McDogecoin make people wonder what is Dogecoin. and Doge would just refer to a dog, and not something a lot of people would love to eat Smiley

Little birdie said we can expect Alias Transfer + DGS + fee lowered to 0.1 implemented in the next release? Can anyone confirm? Wink

Is people's faith included in the "intrinsic" definition, that is, I know what people are willing to exchange the currency for and I have a certain amount of faith for that and that adds to the value of the currency?
2215  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: May 28, 2014, 08:44:19 PM
I had this issue a few weeks back. I complained quite a bit and posted in the main cryptsy thread and it was resolved quickly.

thank you, I just did that too, mine has been pending for 80 hours, hopefully this solves the problem.
2216  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Official] Cryptsy News and Info XC/BTC and NRS/BTC markets added! Happy Trading on: May 28, 2014, 08:43:43 PM
BitJohn, I am not able to receive a withdrawal of NXT from Cryptsy. It has been over 80 hours and it is still pending. I have tickets #136824 and #137397 opened on the issue, but all I am getting is some canned responses from the support techs.

I haven't seen this kind of withdrawal delays at Bter, it's unacceptable, how am I supposed to do trading with such delays? If the NXT withdrawal is not possible, please escalate the issue to see that it's refunded back to my Cryptsy balance.

Thank you.

What, you also got NXT stuck there or some other coins? Just trying to see if it's just me or NXT is really f*cked at their exchange.
2218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: May 28, 2014, 04:31:24 PM
Can you guys help Cryptsy fix their NXT withdrawals, any devs here that have contacts with Cryptsy techs? It's been a long time and they're still 'working' on it, might need a little helping hand there or something? It's almost like nobody ever withdraws NXTs from Cryptsy. What's the use that the exchange is listed in the first post if withdrawals aren't functional.

I've just seen the live video where wesleyh said the next release will include some interesting features, people will want to buy NXT and withdraw and bummer!
2219  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.6 HARDFORK MANDATORY UPDATE on: May 28, 2014, 04:08:37 PM
But i'm not going to remain silent while this coins is changed just to please some miners who want to make $ while they sleep with their videocards running.

The coins were not about mining profits but about something else , that is about to get forgotten.

Duuuuude, I never said anything about pleasing miners. In fact, I've been saying to please investors, not miners. But you can't please investors and just tell miners go to hell. There is a compromise and it is there: PoW/PoS or multiple PoW. In any case it's a win-win for both miners and investors as the security of the network is increased and 51% attack is no longer possible. That's all I am saying.

PS: I don't mine, for the record, I have a couple of laptops, not gonna risk mining on them and not worth it.
2220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.6 HARDFORK MANDATORY UPDATE on: May 28, 2014, 04:03:18 PM
Have you seen even one sr or hero member proposing to change the distribution or algorithm to attract miners?

There are more than enough miners in bitcoin. But they tend to be more and more centralized and that poses a great risk down the road. Unfortunately, there is no way to change that in Bitcoin now, as miners would not accept that radical change and not use the software with such a proposed change, so there is no reason to propose such things. However, these changes can be proposed and implemented in altcoins. And that's what some senior and hero members do.
