1361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT/NEM or Monero/Bytecoin? on: July 18, 2014, 07:05:07 AM
You can mine NXT indirectly at http://hashrate.org if you're interested.
1362  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are PoS coins secure and reliable? on: July 18, 2014, 06:57:17 AM
It is true that it's easier to attack PoS coin, but it's sorta impossible for new coin to use PoW,otherwise, those with ASIC miner will dominate the coin.
There are different implementations of PoS, some are vulnerable, some are more secure than PoW.
It's not impossible for new coins to use PoW, especially if they run on an algo that ASICs haven't been invented for yet, or something like Myriadcoin with 5 independant algos. Myriadcoin is not susceptible to 51% attack, but you never hear much about it. Why? Because most posts here are from miners, who don't give a flying fuck about the future of a coin, all they care about is profits from mining. They can't fairly and accurately assess fundamentals and advantages of a coin and don't even try to. They cry scam to everything that doesn't let them mine and dump for a profit. And naturally PoS coins don't let them mine and dump, hence they cry foul as soon as they see the word 'PoS' in a sentence.
1363  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Begining of the END for BTC. Bitcoin is becoming ultra regulated currency on: July 18, 2014, 06:45:40 AM
Decentralized exchanges is the answer.
1364  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are PoS coins secure and reliable? on: July 18, 2014, 06:35:22 AM
Yes, PoW is dominant yet there are several examples where PoS has resulted in serious issues.
That's not a good argument to continue the PoS experiment.

PoW coins have had a lot of serious issues too, but that doesn't stop people to continue the PoW experiments, so why stop with the PoS experiments, your statement sounds illogical Smiley

Neither Bitcoin nor other PoW nor any PoS coins have entered mainstream yet, and if/when they do, people won't care what crypto to use as long as it's convenient (they won't be able to mine (in the case of PoW) any of it, buying already is/will be the only option for 99.9% of them), secure, has a lot of services on top.

Decentralized exchanges is the answer.
1366  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are PoS coins secure and reliable? on: July 17, 2014, 07:24:54 PM
PoS is garbage. The only reason for its existence is to separate fools from their money.

Here is one with miner mentality.
1367  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin (BTC/USD) Price Prediction. $4000-$6500 by August/September 2014. on: July 17, 2014, 06:37:22 PM
GOBI opens August 1.  We'll see what effect (if any) that has on the price.

What's GOBI? I only know Gobi Desert.

There is a chance for $1k in 2014, but no higher this year.
1369  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone else have a feeling NXT is about to explode? on: July 17, 2014, 02:41:12 PM
Don't make guesses Smiley The only way to find out is to set up a node, set allowed max. connections to a very high number and then leave it running for a few days, you will see a lot more peers than that or than Ripple, but I won't tell you how many, you must do the homework yourself Wink
1370  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone else have a feeling NXT is about to explode? on: July 17, 2014, 02:34:11 PM
Like I said, check the numbers, then come back, 100 nxt nodes was many moons ago.
1371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone else have a feeling NXT is about to explode? on: July 17, 2014, 02:28:08 PM
Its mostly run by businesses, banks, gateways, and eco system developers because with rippled server you do a lot more then only with client.

So, are you saying it's mostly centrally regulated entities running ripple servers? Well, just like I said, it's not decentralized. It just means the network has more than one center, but they are still centers.
1372  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone else have a feeling NXT is about to explode? on: July 17, 2014, 02:21:59 PM
Everyone can run Ripple server

What is the incentive?
1373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone else have a feeling NXT is about to explode? on: July 17, 2014, 02:18:09 PM
Ripple and BitShares networks are:
servers (called validators in Ripple and delegates in BitShares) + clients.

NXT is a peer-to-peer network, that means every node is both a server and a client.

Two different approaches.
Ripple and BitShares are distributed networks.
NXT is a truely decentralized p2p network.
1374  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone else have a feeling NXT is about to explode? on: July 17, 2014, 02:01:59 PM
Check the numbers, then come back. In Ripple there are validators and all the others.
1375  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone else have a feeling NXT is about to explode? on: July 17, 2014, 01:57:04 PM
hey atoni,

Ripple is not decentralized, so all those functions don't have a meaning. All those functions already existed before Ripple - centralized exchanges (forex and stock exchanges), instant transactions (Paypal and many other digital payment systems), aliases (DNS system), everything else. Ripple just put them all together, but it's still centralized. If you need centralized, just use what was before Ripple that I listed above.

There are different implementations of PoS, some are vulnerable, some are more secure than PoW.

Doge coin is desperately in need of a fix to the protocol. Until then no one outside of the hard core users will take it seriously.

If you mean the infinite 10k rewards, there is nothing to fix, it's a feature.
1378  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - Secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency - Now on Hitbtc.com on: July 16, 2014, 06:43:16 AM
Thats because you also promote NXT, a know scam, you don't know better. Dogecoin devs backstabbed the community when they decided not fix a bug in the code that would make doge be minted forever at a fixed rate (10k). Doge will never overtake anything anymore, it was put down, by their own developers that became blind with their 15min of fame, those who are not bound by commitment with lines of code on 3rd-party hands will dump everything and wait for the next sane project to rise and invest again.

It's all your personal opinion. I don't consider that a bug, and you are free to consider anything a scam.
1379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - Secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency - Now on Hitbtc.com on: July 16, 2014, 06:36:40 AM
doge got in the same trap, they were big, kind of like monero is now but more mainstream, then hubris got them and look where doge is now.

Where, exactly? I still believe Dogecoin will overtake Litecoin on coinmarketcap.com and will be a currency of choice for micro and small transactions.
1380  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This banker tricks us to do away with deflationary nature of bitcoin! on: July 16, 2014, 06:35:03 AM
Thankfully the Dogecoin tested this for us and it was a disaster

On the contrary, Dogecoin has been a huge success, with many merchants accepting it only after 7 months of running along with its 'father' Litecoin, and its success is not over yet.
