Oh nice. Sounds great. Who is working on the implementation of Instant Transactions and do they need funding to do this faster?
According to this IT is still in design phase, because it depends on TF. Not sure about funding though, there are other priority features on the list, TF/IT is promised to come before the end of November, but after other features have been implemented.

There is a chance that other European countries will not take kindly to printing more Euros and the resulting inflation.
Well, they already took it in the past few years, kindly or not, doesn't matter. There is a choice: to write off losses and shut half of the banks overnight together with all depositors' funds because most banks will then have a lot of failed assets on their books and effectively become bankrupt right there or print money to make that debt smaller through inflation. Google 'hyperinflation episodes in the history of money', they always chose the latter in the past.

If so how will NXT get down to instant transactions? Also what do you mean by decentralized vs centralized and which one would be better?
In Bitshares users vote for a pre-defined number of delegates (forgers in NXT terms). In NXT it's a randomized process of who forges the next block and there is no pre-defined number of forgers, no voting. When TF is enabled, the system will be able to predict who forges the next block, but it should still stay randomized as to choosing a forger. Predicting the next forger makes it possible to implement Instant Transactions. Well, obviously, decentralized is better, because that's the general and primary purpose of crypto currencies, isn't it? In designing a crypto special emphasis should be on keeping it as decentralized as possible, keeping it as close to peer-to-peer model as possible instead of designing something similar to server-client model, which leads to centralization, but gives an advantage of short block times.

If NXT largest competitor is Bitshare, I could not find any information on Bitshares block time?
If NXT has the best features then it will be HUGE!
BitsharesX is not designed to be decentralized, that's why their block time is very small, only 10 seconds. Just like Ripple has a 15 second block time. In fully decentralized systems block times with less than 1 minute result in a high number of orphan blocks.

Sounds like fun, but a 20 GB blockchain in 6 months?

This kind of arrangement is very risky, and is not guaranteed for Portugal. There are obviously limits as to how much the ECB will be willing to print in order to bail out a specific country. It should be noted that printing money will result in inflation that will affect countries that were not bailed out.
Sure it will result in inflation. But not printing money will result in quick collapse of the banking system, because failed banks' shares and bonds are other banks' assets, the entire banking system is interconnected. So it's either quick death or slow blood shed in the form of printing money and resulting inflation. The past history shows that in almost 100% of similar situations the slow blood shed was chosen, no reason to expect otherwise this time.

Is it still available?
Yes, it is. PM me if interested.

Well, 90-95% NXT obviously. 5-10% split between NEM, Qora, BitsharesX as backup should NXT fail for some reason. Others are not worth considering yet.
CryptoNote is not Generation 2.0, it's more like generation 1.5.

trend is up. trend is your friend. never trade against the trend.
Exactly! Speaking of which, where do you see the trend is up? Mid-term trend has been going sideways, long-term trend is still down or at least bottoming, uptrend hasn't started yet (breakout above $700 would signal the start of uptrend). Oh, I got it, you must be talking about noise price fluctuations, lasting days and or weeks at the longest. I see now, you're a day-trader.
|
|
|
In relation to Litecoin
That's just some noise. Crypto currencies are supposedly here to change the world, then, you should look at yearly performance, that has more relation to changing the world than a few days/weeks of noise price fluctuations.

I hear opposite that ltc is going to take doge. But this is tricky cuz boot coin are dropping from market slowly.
Who takes who depends on how active the community is at this point and development efforts of course. It doesn't depend on miners. If Dogecoin stops development, including external infrastructure, apps, etc. and the community gets bored, then Dogecoin will die. Same is true for Litecoin.
|
|
|
interestingly enough that more and more people have started talking about selling when its pretty obliviously that the price will go up by the end of the year. I wonder if they are saying that because want to buy now at a little price or they are really sure that the bitcoin price will go down
Well, it's not obvious the price will go up by the end of the year, but it's a very realistic possibility.

Why don't you just measure performance in 5 Year Plans... and stay in bed the rest of the time?
Quarterly and yearly performance are standard milestones in forex, stock market and commodities trading as far as I know. But I know that in pump-n-dump cryptos it's days and weeks that count

So who will take LTC place?
Dogecoin.

Measuring performance by month is for pump-n-dump kind of trading, isn't it?

It's not losing popularity, but it's not gaining it fast enough for the price to reflect it.
There are two scenarios I envisage for the near future.
Optimistic: price stays around $550-650 for the next 2 months and then starts slow gradual rise to the previous ATH ($1000-1200) and will reach it by summer 2015.
Pessimistic: price goes to $400-450 where it finds strong support, and then starts slower gradual rise to the previous ATH ($1000-1200) and will reach it by the end of 2015.
Could be somewhere in between these two scenarios.
