1381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think coins with IPO/premines will succeed and be popular/mainstream? on: July 16, 2014, 05:58:24 AM
Of course they will, if they offer useful features to users. It doesn't matter for users how the coins came into existance. What matters is how easy it is to buy them with fiat, and what they can do with the coins. Miners are not users, hence miners don't have a final say.
1382  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This banker tricks us to do away with deflationary nature of bitcoin! on: July 16, 2014, 05:50:54 AM
Bitcoin is not deflationary, it has a pre-defined rate of inflation, till 2140.
1383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitshares-PTS to double/triple in price in the next 45 days!!? on: July 16, 2014, 05:09:30 AM
Share supply is 2 billion.

How many shares are assigned to 1 Protoshare, acquired before Feb 28?
1384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: July 16, 2014, 05:05:26 AM
Your average NXT whale, are they in it for the long haul as a usable currency or will they start dumping when this reaches 1 dollar? or even 50 cents?

Who knows and why does it matter. They should dump for the distribution to take place. The more they dump the better.
1385  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Deathblow to Proof of Stake on: July 15, 2014, 04:02:48 PM
First of all, I believe Nxt has ~30% of the stake currently forging

Where did you get that number?

What does Total Balance under More info in the NRS Version section on the dashboard mean?
1386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Deathblow to Proof of Stake on: July 15, 2014, 03:06:49 PM
A lot of discussion is specifically about NXT.

Is there any difference in NXT's PoS implementation vs most of these new altcoins with PoS?

NXT's implementation is unique, except if those new altcoins are clones of NXT (NFD, NAS).
1387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Deathblow to Proof of Stake on: July 15, 2014, 02:27:15 PM
As price action and market volume observations show, buying 51% of NXT would be at least two orders of magnitude more costly ($50+ bln) than buying 51% of hash power for Bitcoin ($500 mln), because each time 1% of NXTs is purchased the price goes up 25%, that would be exponential growth of capital required to buy 51% of all NXTs in existance.

You don't need 51% of the coins just 51% of the active stake.  In no currency can 100% of the money supply be used for minting.  If it was then the currency couldn't be used for anything else.

There are not many reasons for people not to forge/stake in NXT, either solo (bigger stakes) or through pools (smaller ones). That's why most of the coins are forging, hence, yes, you need 51% or close to that and the capital two orders of magnitude larger to buy all those coins than the capital needed to buy hardware to hashrate attack Bitcoin.
1388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: July 15, 2014, 12:17:50 PM
It's sad that respected developers arm these newbies with irrelevant half-truths and these newbies go spread those on the forums. In the end, they lose, because they start believing these now irrelevant half-truths and miss out on good investments.

None of them have been convincingly shown to be secure

Oh well, what do you think are the criteria for them to be considered secure by you, personally? How long should this or that PoS implementation be around to prove it's secure?
1389  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: July 15, 2014, 12:10:04 PM

Peercoin's PoS implementation has nothing to do with NXT's PoS implementation.

PoS may be broken in one system, but perfectly safe in another.

Just like PoW may be susceptible to 51% attack and successful double spending and selfish mining in Bitcoin, but not susceptible to those attacks in Myriadcoin due to its 5 independant PoW algos.
1390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT VS NEM on: July 15, 2014, 11:47:57 AM
Anyway, despite your rejection I really like you and wish you all best with your investments! Good luck!

I can't say I like you, but still wish you all the best and good luck Wink
1391  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: July 15, 2014, 11:38:21 AM
So basically we're looking at a scenario where fiat collapses and each Bitcoin becomes worth $100,000+, or zero.

If fiat collapses globally as much and as quickly as in Argentina, I believe in that environment barter would be better suited for trade, not Bitcoins. Hopefully fiat collapses gradually enough, for crypto currencies to keep purchasing power.
1392  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT VS NEM on: July 15, 2014, 11:10:15 AM
Are you in?

No, I don't do partnerships, especially with someone who has such shitty ideas Cheesy Don't bother writing such long articles next time Smiley

Are you confusing "Nothing at Stake" with "History Attack"? Nxt mitigates history attacks by not allowing block-chain re-organisations past 720 blocks. That means we don't have to worry about the founders mounting an attack with ancient coins.

Yes, he does confuse them, many people do, because they simply parrot others' wrong opinions.

History attack is impossible because all blocks older than 720 in the past are irreversible, there are decentralized rolling checkpoints in NXT which take care of that.

Here is how Vitalik Buterin formulated the "Nothing at stake" issue" two weeks ago:
https://nxtforum.org/general-discussion/bounty-for-successful-nothing-at-stake-attack/msg60114/#msg60114
read that thread from that post to the end to see that he was apparently satisfied with the replies he got that NXT is not vulnerable to N@S, or at least he had nothing else to retort.
1395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT VS NEM on: July 15, 2014, 07:51:12 AM
You shouldn't trust any web site on the Internet. I thought you were around long enough to know it. Read the code and make your own conclusions. Oh, and did I mention you should stay away from decentralized exchanges?
1396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT VS NEM on: July 15, 2014, 07:44:06 AM
Finally sane person who agrees that everything in NXT is copy. So where is that innovation then?

I guess only butthurts here are people that bought nxt at 9 cents to see their investment go south and now have to spread lies about "originality" and "innovation" around forum. Well, I wish them luck with their bags.

EDIT: I thought that www.nxt.org is official web page. Sorry if its just some nxt pumpers idea. its innovative like nxt to spread lies around, rofl

You can call me insane, but I didn't say what you claim I said about everything in NXT being a copy. You just made it up Smiley

Investments are risky and fluctuate, correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Bitcoin also lose about the same from its all time high? What do you invest in that always goes upwards only?

No, you thought wrong, there is no official website for NXT. There is only semi-official forum where developers post updates to the bitbucket repository of new NXT releases, everything else is decentralized in NXT, get used to it Smiley
1397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT VS NEM on: July 15, 2014, 07:33:19 AM
I didnt say he copied algo but idea.

Ripple is fully decentralized currency.

I told you already I am not butthurt, I am laughing, am just annoyed to all the lies nxt people spread around.

They should start by changing their web page which still says nxt is fastest crypto and that there is no fees on asset exchange (but I guess lies are nxt business model).

So will you be investor in atoni888Buy asset? It will be honest 100%, same as everything on nxt lol

He might have copied the idea, so what. Peercoin's PoS implementation is faulty, he improved on it. Peercoin copied the idea from real world in the first place, it's all about going and improving the older inventions to make them more advanced. Are you surprised? That's how the world works, sorry to break it to you this way.

Ripple is not decentralized, it's distributed, feel free to look up the difference.

Go tell them to change the web page, which web page are you referring to, by the way? There is no official website for NXT, it's decentralized, you can set up your own website, that would be same as others, and you can put on the webpage whatever you want. There is only a semi-official forum at nxtforum.org

What do you offer with your asset? Tell me all terms, I'll think about it.
1398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT VS NEM on: July 15, 2014, 07:22:35 AM
atoni, still butthurt? go see a doctor, haha Cheesy

NXT's PoS algo has nothing to do with Peercoin's.
Peercoin has centralized checkpoints, NXT does not.

You can't copy a decentralized exchange from Ripple, because Ripple is not decentralized. You can copy an exchange, but exchange is something that has been around for thousands of years, haha, it's like a wheel that was invented long ago.

You can't premine a 100% PoS coin, because it cannot be mined in the first place and all PoS coins must be generated all at the same time.

Aliases, gateways, yeah, he copied those, so what, both are natural developments to make life easier for users, expect a lot more things to be copied that add value to NXT.

Still butthurt?
1399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: July 15, 2014, 06:33:32 AM
6. PoS
7. IPO

Haha, that leaves nothing to discuss then.
You should only invest in Bitcoin and XMR, thread can be closed Smiley
