2201  Other / Archival / Re: Where is the current absolute bottom of Bitcoin? on: January 22, 2022, 01:30:06 PM
I've seen a lot during my Bitcoin journey, since 2013. To be honest, I'm clueless about what's going to happen. Is it concerning? It is, I didn't believe that we would lose the $40.000 resistance. Up to this point, I wouldn't be surprised if a similar pattern of 2017 occurs. Bitcoin suddenly crashes, facing huge losses.

To be honest, I'm pretty disappointed, but I'm trying to keep my cool, not panic and not do anything stupid.
2202  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Your purpose in life. on: January 22, 2022, 12:20:33 PM
No parents would allow his/her child to embrace to a career that will not be profitable.  I understand we growing up their is this passion we do have for a particular life style but I feel if this life style which the child is mimicking is not a good one ,it is best for the parents to change the child's way from it so that the child won't grow up with it. But if it is a good one that will have impact in the child's life when the child grows up it will be better for the parents to encourage that child to grow up with it.
We're currently going through a world that is rapidly changing and advancing, what we think is profitable now, might not be profitable in 5-10-20 years. From my point of view, it's best to follow your passion, if you're good at something, chances are that you might as well end up turning it into a living. There's no way to predict the future, thus, we might as well follow what we like.

Not quite understanding what's the purpose of the whole article is, apart from gathering a few clicks. Anything that can become an addiction is harmful, especially if it has to do with money. Trading is a form of gambling, it's unpredictable, I wouldn't blame anyone but myself if I was in his shoes. I do understand him, though, the anxiety it caused me was tremendous, I wouldn't do it ever again.
When it comes to emotional damage on which things could really affect you then it is possible specially if this one dealing off with money which it is really understandable on how people do really reacts nor

would really do in terms on the moment they had lost money.Addiction on something doesnt really give out something good but rather goes the opposite. If you arent that prepared in terms of

losing money then any forms of investment shouldnt really fit you out and its better to avoid it rather than coming into this point.
There are many ways you could potentially lower the risk and be on the safer side, such as holding, staking assets, and generally, trying to accumulate cryptocurrencies.

It doesn't always have to cause anxiety, yes, it is a stressful procedure and risk is always involved, even when holding. Currently, the market is suffering a severe crash, which is stressful, however, I'm hoping it will recover in the near future.

2205  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [POLL] Have you ordered your free Covid tests yet? on: January 21, 2022, 03:27:24 PM
Antigen tests are prone to false negative tests

Makes sense to distribute these to everyone then, right?

My friend who works for a union in California had everyone at their job site be asked to take a rapid test.  Nearly all of them came out positive.  Some decided to retest (using an antigen test, same as the first as recommended) and tested negative.  My buddy decided to work from home for a week instead along with most others.  Nobody was showing symptoms of any kind.  However, the one person who was triple vaxxed and wears a mask all the time did test positive and went to the hospital for confirmation where he was tested to be positive again.  Again, no symptoms of any kind.  Do with that information what you want...  Two things are certain, these tests are not accurate and our government is wasting a ton of money fearmongering their population into socialized medicine by any means necessary.
Worked perfectly fine for me and my girlfriend. We both conducted these kinds of tests and were accurate enough to show us we were positive, after developing symptoms of fever. I don't know what kind of tests you've been distributed, but they worked just fine in my case.
2206  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [POLL] Have you ordered your free Covid tests yet? on: January 20, 2022, 08:22:25 PM
As I understand, it's rapid antigen tests. Even if you test positive with it, you still will have to make PCR test that your disease would be confirmed offcially. I think antigen tests isn't accepted for traveling, school or work and it's not very accurate.

As I understand, even if you test positive using one of these tests (if you are asymptomatic) there's a 97% chance that it is a false positive.

This to me isn't about health and safety.  It's just more propaganda.  As soon as these tests start hitting doorsteps every social media influencer in the country is going to be taking them day after day hoping for a false positive so they can make a twitter post for sympathy.  It's actually not a bad plan if your goal is fearmongering.  I'm not sure it will have the desired effect though, as it will show how many people test positive with no symptoms and begin desensitizing us to this flu.

Buckle up, the social media campaign is starting...  So thankful to be in a position to not give a fuck...
Most likely the opposite. Antigen tests are prone to false negative tests, due to incorrect sample. Yes, PCR tests are more accurate, because the said operation is similar to a blood test result, it's conducted by a laboratory. If you get a positive results, then it is very likely that you're infected with Covid-19.

2207  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ARE WE SEEING COVID-19 BEEN DEFEATED/BEATEN THIS YEAR ?! on: January 20, 2022, 07:31:19 PM
don't forget to add that people have to vaccinate, all people need to vaccinate to avoid ending up in the hospital and dying, this disease is not something people are kidding about, they need to continue to wear a mask and comply with social distancing. this is the new normal that will be for years to come. I still can't understand why there are people who think this year will end covid
Vaccinated people still end up in the hospital and die. Vaccinated people still need to wear masks and comply with social distancing. Personally, I'm not ready to accept such new normal and these thing never will be normal for me.
Don't agree that all people need to get vaccinated. With dominating omicron variant, it's not that dangerous, even for not vaccinated people. I read articles that that it can begining of end of pandemic, but in general, covid won't be gone soon, but it may be considered as common flu.
That's true, vaccines do not eliminate the chance of infection nor the chances of developing severe illness. However, the chances are significantly lower, and that can be proved by looking at the statistics. For instance, in Greece, from 600 patients in ICU, 80-100 of them at most are fully vaccinated, while the rest of them are unvaccinated.

Vaccines are working and it's easily proved.
2208  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [POLL] Have you ordered your free Covid tests yet? on: January 20, 2022, 06:28:04 PM
I'd send the tests back with a sample of something known by WHO tests to be positive for the covaids (papaya fruit juice for instance) and a name of special friends who might benefit from a little knock no the door by the ever-so-highly trained contact tracer minions.  Maybe the names of some of the local 'helth' office bureaucrats.

They are probably trying to collect more DNA with these things, so some saliva from a pet lizard would also be a lot of fun.

We've had free* rapid antigen tests here in the UK for nearly a year now. Not sure what the process is in the US, but we don't have to send the actual test back anywhere, we just notify the NHS of the result, whether positive or negative. So no DNA-gathering.

* let's not get into this debate
We used to have free tests too, before vaccines were rolled out for all age groups, their conduction was mandatory in order to attend your workplace. After getting vaccinated, tests were no longer needed but I still collected them occasionally.

Unfortunately, our government has stopped distributing free self tests, however, free testing is being provided at specific hotspots.

Despite the other replies, I find their distribution useful, especially when I had symptoms and wanted to get tested without going outside.

But also never be so confident with crypto market, usually popular opinion will not realize in the future of crypto market. When people optimist about the bearish will be end and the idea is become mainstream, the market will do the opposite, and also the opposites.
So i think it's better to prepare for any upcoming condition
actually having full confidence in the market would be bad for most people. For example, look at last month where many people had high expectations of $100k bitcoin which made them confused now and not even a few of them panicked and sold their assets because they experienced a fairly decent depreciation.
believing in bitcoin will reach a good price is very possible but don't have high expectations of something because apart from taking time the market is very difficult to predict
That's the main reason I avoid following the mass, having high expectations can be devastating if they are not pleased. That's the main reason I'm not following such speculations, I don't want to feel disappointed if they fall short, while I've learned to be satisfied with what we have. Bitcoin's price is way higher than last year.

Don't get me wrong, I do believe that Bitcoin will recover from the current situation, but I tend to be more protective with speculations, since as we've noticed, a lot of people were expecting $100.000 before the end of 2021, which quickly fell through.

Hoping is great, but we need to be a little more cautious when it comes to predictions.

I wish I could travel to the past so I could change my life forever.  Smiley
You could've your wish granted but you won't be allowed to rejoin us on planet earth. How about that 😏.

A friend told me three years ago how he sold his six Bitcoin in 2014 or so. At that time I wasn't even aware of anything called Bitcoin. I looked at him like an alien and wondered why he didn't even discuss the Bitcoin stuff with me. Truth be told, I'm sure if he had told me then I wouldn't have taken it serious as I'm always hard to convince. Again, even if I had bought any Bitcoin then I'm sure I would've sold long ago. It's the same way that person who was gifted 25btc for coming last wouldn't have made anything substantial from that. They would've sold at a pitiable price and taken the profit in what would look like a giveaway in today's calculation.
You couldn't have guessed, neither could we. Regarding OP's post, it's funny that people were practically mocking Bitcoin back then, even a few years later, the last position's reward would be worth over $1.000. However, I highly doubt that these Bitcoin winners actually put them in good use, there are either lost in the blockchain forever, or sold for pennies.

After reading through these comments all I can say is that mental health is a real issue, especially in the USA.

A lot of people suffer from paranoia, grand delusions, and schizophrenia.

That is clearly demonstrated by the anti-vaxxers on this forum.  No point to argue with them, they are sick and are not able to
process information the same way as sane people.
Reading some of their replies make me feel sick to my stomach. Gibberish is posted all over the forum, on serious matters, but these idiots keep ridiculizing the whole ordeal, thinking they are the chosen ones who know best. Fortunately, I only see a few specific members reproducing such kind of posts, but they have the tendency to spread and post crap all over the forum.

I've actually locked one of my topics, because you couldn't get a single productive reply, after they spammed their stupid theories.

Mask  [...] they have literally 0 effect on the state of covid it seems.

Is it safe to assume that you're not actually a qualified biochemist?
Have you actually looked at the studies and associated data around mask efficacy? Surgical masks are obviously better than simple cloth masks, but the data show that cloth masks do have a protective effect. Even if they aren't 100% effective, they are still going to reduce viral load.

I am qualified, I would say Smiley 5 years of biochemistry and engineering studies resulting in a M.sc in protein science and yeah viruses are essentially proteins with some RNA or DNa inside Smiley.. I am not arguing that the mask could not work in theory or in a very controlled environment, for preventing droplets to spreading in the air, to stop a single virus is impossible for simple N/M 95/94 masks and not what they are designed to do.
I am saying masks SEEM to have no effect on the spread in society if you compare mask mandate schools and states with non mandate schools and states. It even seems like mask mandate states are worse off, and i said strange.
I would guess that masks are used poorly and that masked citizens think they are protected more than they actually are, which leads to unnecessary risk behavior.
I would like to see some kind of evidence for your saying, but I highly doubt it that there is any. As I've mentioned before, masks were a common practice even in the past, during the Influenza pandemic in 1918. Even in theory, it's pretty logical why masks are a preventive measure of infection, doctors always used them during medical procedures to avoid infecting the patient. If it wasn't for the mask mandate, especially throughout the first phases of Covid-19, we would definitely have a dramatically higher number of cases, and deaths of course.

A quick look at WHO's website may educate you, unless you know better.

2213  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: IS it possible to let your BTC work for you ? on: January 16, 2022, 02:07:08 PM
Possibly, Binance offers staking with your bitcoin although at a really low rate for annual so it's not that worth it putting in but if you're a hodler and you have nothing better to do with your bitcoin, you might use it to store your bitcoin to earn yourself daily satoshis. I put mine in those and it's been almost 2 months since then and I am happy with the interests that I have earned even though it's not a lot.

However, the bitcoin is still working for you in order to generate profit. This is similar to a time deposit at a bank, except that the interest rates are extremely low. However, if you hold it for a long period of time, you can earn a substantial amount of money. Profits are profits no matter how small or large they may be, and they are not easy to come by in this economy. Holding is one way that Bitcoin will work for you because you are simply holding and waiting for the price to rise, whereas others are staking, which is a method that is known right now that allows you to accumulate coins over time, and so on.
Staking, at least, generates Bitcoin, thus generating income passively, it's rendered a quite safe process, which is the main reason that its rewards are quite limited. Holding, on the other hand, doesn't guarantee that you'll actually earn money, while it can't be considered passive income, since you're not making any profit on a daily or weekly basis. The amount of coins you own remains the same, only the value changes, which could also point towards the negative side.
2214  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin collapse or mature? on: January 16, 2022, 12:54:02 PM
Collapse or mature it doesnt matter because if we do look upon on the current state of Bitcoin it is really progressive and the recognition that it gets do really make out improvement and we cant really deny that.
It is progressing but failing to break the resistance and more preciously we can say that current bitcoin market is into sideways movement between support levels around $41k levels and resistance around $45k levels. This might lead the market to have similar up and down for 2 more times as well before we are seeing any significant progress. But, the good thing is, usually after a sideways movement do progress in upside.

So, we can assume that bitcoin market is not going to collapse both in long run and in short run. We may or may not have bullish trend this year but we will not have another 80% bearish market this time for sure.
Resistance has been built at the $40.000 mark, I don't believe it crash any further than that. Thus, chances are that we'll experience some time of bear market, staying relatively stable, within $40k-45k level, it has stayed there for quite some time now. To be honest, as it has been mentioned before, I don't really mind, we have a long way ahead of us, at least, for those who are patient enough.
2215  Economy / Economics / Re: Fuel prices hitting an eight year high on: January 16, 2022, 09:48:45 AM
The ridiculous thing about this oil crisis is that it's not even captured by the inflation figures that we have.

Fuel prices are excluded from "underlying" or "core" inflation, which means that the actual inflation figures when taking into account volatile goods is probably in the double digits for most countries now.

This is precisely why you need to diversify out of fiat assets. They WILL lose purchasing power as a function of time.
That's interesting, I didn't actually know that, I thought that inflation also included gas prices, but it seems like it doesn't. The increasing inflation, along with the energy crisis (fuel, electricity prices etc.) are dramatically reducing our available income. It's astonishing because I believed that it was dying down a month ago, with Crude barrel's price going below $60-65.

Brent crude at $86.06 per barrel, with a bullish outlook. This is extremely concerning for oil importing countries such as China, Japan and India. And at the same time, this is going to further worsen the inflation crisis in the West. One interesting thing to note here is that the shale oil producers in the United States are ramping up their production, especially in formations such as Permian and Eagle Ford. And this influx has resulted in a spread of $2-$3 between West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude and the Brent Crude.
And I also expect it to rise furthermore in the near future, it has an increasing trend, we're definitely going to face higher prices in the near future, while inflation is getting worse and worse.
2216  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Changing my Thoughts And Behaviors. on: January 15, 2022, 08:38:05 PM
I prefer not to talk about cryptocurrencies in public, nor with friends and family. To be honest, I actually don't feel comfortable, people keep asking personal questions and advice, which I cannot and prefer not to give out, for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, I want zero liability, while the majority of people aren't accustomed to Bitcoin and most likely won't understand how exactly it works.

I'd advise you to take a break, and refrain from having Bitcoin discussions. Don't get me wrong, this is a great industry with significant potential, however, don't let it get the best of you.
2217  Economy / Economics / Re: Money and happiness. on: January 15, 2022, 07:32:27 PM
In my personal opinion and the happiness that I actually feel is when we are with the people we love under any circumstances, and money is only a complement because it can buy or make what we want with the people we love will be happier.
so both are very important and complementary, and but if we don't have much money and we are with our loved ones it can still make us feel happy because we are with happy people. And if we have a lot of money and we are not with the people we love, it will do us no good and we become lonely. that's how i feel.
good people ! from the past until now money can snatch true happiness ! In this modern era money is basic happiness ,only love will not be enough to start something happy ,with a lot of money you will not feel lonely ,people will come to you especially people you like ! money is very dominant in our life because without money you will not be able to eat otherwise you can eat and be happy because there is money love like that only exists in primordial times
It seems you can't read and interpret well what I mean, I mean money can't buy happiness because we can get happiness in any way including with the people we love.
And being happy with them doesn't mean we don't have money, and I mean a lot of money and without having to explain everything and you have to understand all opinions and goals, because all opinions aim like that.

since your definition is ambiguous, my question is are you happy with your family when you have no money?
The whole definition of the analogy of money and happiness is subjective to each person. From my point of view, I'll have to disagree with the previous poster, money doesn't solely provide you with pure happiness in life. You will eventually feel lonely, most connections will be influenced from money and won't actually be meaningful.

We need a little bit of both, you need money to live comfortably, but you need other ideals to lead you to a happy life, money itself won't do it.
2218  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin collapse or mature? on: January 15, 2022, 06:25:08 PM
It's wiser to avoid some speculation the year is still too young. We all expect a massive turn up for Bitcoin this year but having such a high hope could be too risky if that would be a criteria for investment. It's too obvious Bitcoin will definitely get matured again but using it as a speculation to invest could be detrimental seeing how high price has gone in the last year
That's my point as well, I'm not paying attention to any kind of speculation, it's not worth it and in the end, they might even cloud your judgement. I'm not dissatisfied with Bitcoin's price, even now, it's still higher than it was last year, I can still make profit despite the lower prices. Price volatility is a common thing, expecting it to always rise is wrong and in my opinion, pointless.
2219  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: IS it possible to let your BTC work for you ? on: January 15, 2022, 05:34:54 PM
There are certainly a few ways you can do this, but Bitcoin doesn't differentiate much from fiat currencies in your case. What exactly do I mean? I'll further explain. One way you can do it is by lending people money and claiming interest, no matter if it's in Bitcoin, Euros, or whatever you please, it's a risky procedure. On the other hand, you could potentially stake on a platform, such as Beefy, which is considered somewhat safe, but don't expect huge benefits from single asset vaults.

I've also seen that FreeBitco.in offers 4.08% interest, if you hold your Bitcoin there. It's an old, trusted platform, but still, would you trust your money to a third party? You'll have no access if something occurs.
2220  Economy / Economics / Re: Fuel prices hitting an eight year high on: January 15, 2022, 04:41:24 PM
Fuel prices continue climbing once again, with Crude and Brent barrel price surpassing $84 and $86 respectively. The situation is getting out of hand, with Unleaded 95 petrol now costing €1.838 per liter, and regular diesel €1.538 per liter. Fueling up, the average car now would cost €82.70 (45 liter tank) for petrol, and almost €65 for diesel.

We're only a few months away from the upcoming tourist season in Greece, will price levels ever return to normal or will they simply continue to rise, especially when the new season starts.
