But yes finland will be ocvupied asap i guess in few days

Like the last time when Russians tried to conquer Finland. They sent 20 thousand men to Finland who had only 4k, which makes it 5 Russians for every Finnish soldier. The results? Russians lost 3000 vs only 274 dead and 445 injured on the Finnish side. Nowadays with the modern equipment that Finland has (over 100 Leopard 2 tanks and almost 25 thousand men), they are capable of defending themselves against the rusty Soviet-made crap that Russians are sending to battle.
That's not the point though, is it? As you've mentioned yourself, the technology has vastly improved, which would lead to a greater number of casualties. Putin is recruiting soldiers as young as 18-20 years old, nobody deserves such fate, irregardless of what side you're on.

The point is to avoid evolving the war into a larger scale one, because soon enough, it would expand throughout the whole Europe, with huge casualties. Someone needs to pull Putin's plug.

Okay, for anyone who might be interested, I did actually fill up my details, in an attempt to receive the bonus they were offering. After approximately 2 weeks, the $5 bonus was credited into my account. Was it worth it? Meh, if you're planning to use the service, I don't see why not. They didn't ask for too many details, all the exchanges I'm using already have them, so it's not that big of a deal.
1863  Other / Politics & Society / Quarantine measures in China, Shanghai on: April 16, 2022, 11:09:17 PM
Hello there,
Didn't see any topics referring to this matter, have you seen what's happening in China? The government has locked people inside their homes, forcing them to have daily testing, police is separating them into quarantine camps (more like concentration camps) if test comes out positive or if experiencing symptoms, even mild. It's astonishing, that all countries are easing measures, since it's yet to be proven whether lockdowns were actually effective, China on the other hand is adopting zero case policies.

This type of lockdown didn't even occur at the start of the pandemic, where the virus was way more deadlier than it is now, after going through numerous mutations, without having medication and vaccines, which enable us to have very limited casualties, compared to 2 years ago.

Not only is it saddening, but also suspicious, is China hiding something else, or is it just being paranoid, imposing tyranny over its citizens? Let me also point out that China has a history of lying to organizations such as WHO about the severity of such infectious diseases (same thing happened with both Covid and SARS).

What are your thoughts regarding this matter?
1864  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Finland on the way to NATO on: April 16, 2022, 10:01:06 PM
Russia didn't wanted to have border with NATO in Ukraine, so, no they will get 1340 km boder with NATO in Finland. This is what they wanted? Or they will try to demilitarise and denazify Finland too? I think I don't have to remind how Winter War ended.

What about the rest 20%? On top of that, we should also take into account the accuracy of the poll, which is something unknown, at least till more of them rollout.
I guess that remaining 20% haven't decided or don't have opinion about this question.
That's my guess too, still, the 20% isn't enough to change the poll's final result. Russia doesn't want to be bordered with NATO, however, It's very doubtful that they have the stamina nor the power to go against Finland too. On top of that, it would cause a global outrage, I highly doubt that NATO would sit watching Russia declare war to one more country. I'm honestly hoping that this situation stops soon.

I'm currently in Poland, where a large number of Ukrainians have fled in an attempt to seek shelter, this isn't right. It breaks my hurt seeing all these refugees and the bombarded cities.
1865  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation and investment on: April 16, 2022, 08:10:19 PM
There is no denying of how much every country is facing money inflation including my own country and it's causing high level of anxiety due to rapidly increasing prices.
And from last year COVID situation making it more and more worst for so many.
To handle a situation like this  you have to be calculated and it doesn't matter how much you hold to start investment but what matter is how persistence you could be to achieve your goal. It's really hard to start but if you put your best into something you are good at it, you will get good results in the ends.
Am speaking with my personal experience as I faced the same situation 3 months ago but now am doing fine and increasing my investments.
The whole situation is a mess, we went through many years of financial depression in Greece, a lot of austerity measures. When things started to get better, Covid-19 hit, taking everything along its way, tourism was devastated for the past two years (last year wasn't that bad, but still quite worse compared to pre-covid levels). Now, after the immense pandemic crisis, the increased living costs due to inflation are creating huge pressure in the economy and the society.
1866  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation and investment on: April 16, 2022, 04:08:36 PM
Inflation will continue to occur, no country will experience deflation because the central bank always prints money without proper calculations, this is what makes us have to invest so that we can survive, and the best investment option is that it can be turned into cash at any time so crypto is my first choice for now.
And who said deflation is better? Trust me, people who are struggling to survive aren't going to invest money, nor the adoption of cryptocurrencies is life saving in such cases. If people are anticipating a decrease in prices, they stop purchasing non-essential goods, cutting down the demand, thus, decreasing the flow of money in the market.
1867  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation and investment on: April 16, 2022, 07:49:48 AM
We all know that almost the entire world is currently experiencing variable inflation, and my country is no exception. Almost all goods prices have gone up, financial stability has been disrupted and most of us have had to incur additional costs to pay our bills due to rising tariffs and taxes.

At the same time I am still thinking about investing even though I am really having a hard time achieving financial stability at the moment. If previously I could save 50% of my total income for investment then for now only 25% seems difficult. If you are also experiencing this condition, then I have a few questions to answer.

  • Will you continue to invest even if it is only 10%-20% of your total monthly income?
  • How do you achieve financial stability during this inflation?

Share some of your thoughts, I think it would be good to consider especially as long as this kind of condition persists for a long time.
Inflation has affected all of us indeed, particularly, I didn't invest any money of my salary, nor could I save 40-50% off my salary aside. With that being said, I would only hold all my earnings made via signature campaigns, but with the current condition, I'm seriously considering withdrawing half of what I'm making per month, since the cost of living has greatly increased.
1868  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Finland on the way to NATO on: April 15, 2022, 07:14:37 PM
It looks like it's going to be real.

https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/finland-make-decision-nato-membership-coming-weeks-2022-04-13/

The majority of the Finns also support this move.

Finland having the courage to send arms to Ukraine already was pointing for the move to join NATO.

On Sweden things aren't as clear yet.

Putin can claim that getting a piece of Ukraine deserves the price of seeing Finland and Sweden joining NATO, but he will get the latter without having the former.

I'm still astonished as how a successful dictator could take this stupid decision.

Some say that his isolation, caused from his fear to get Sars 2 (the big tables are proportional to his fear), can explain his paranoia and this absolute blunder.
Interesting, however, as the article mentions, there isn't a timetable on when that will happen. Recent polls show that 68% are in favour of joining NATO, while only 12% are against. What about the rest 20%? On top of that, we should also take into account the accuracy of the poll, which is something unknown, at least till more of them rollout.

Putin had warned about Finland since the start of the invasion, however, his army is now devastated, thus, I highly doubt he'd make another threat a reality.
1869  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russia moving equpment near by finland on: April 15, 2022, 05:41:53 PM
No question why fin is not in nato.
Also if putin attack fast enough he can go to swdden also.
But yes finland will be ocvupied asap i guess in few days

What it comes to moving equipment near Finland, it's a couple weeks old video from military exercises. There's no proof that there would be any new military equipment next to Finnish border. (Source: I am Finnish)
Well, that's a good thing to hear. In response to Finland and Sweden announcing they are considering joining NATO, Russia has warned them. There have also been rumors about nuclear equipment being installed near the border. However, no further information nor military exercises have been announced until then.
There's a golden rule that applies in most cases, anything the enemy says, it's false propaganda and a rumor. While I'd take Putin's threats seriously, since he's currently invading Ukraine, he's certainly a world security threat, I highly doubt that he'd try something like that. He's already failing in Ukraine and at the same time, if something like this were to happen, the EU and NATO would probably step in to stop his advance.

Well, his invasion of Ukraine obviously went exactly to plan and he was able to take over the whole country smoothly and easily in a couple of days, without any mess, civilian casualities, western sanctions or global condemnation...

Even if he wanted to, it seems highly unlikely that he'd send the incompetent and demoralised remnant of his military somewhere else to open another front. I really can't see it happening. Although with Putin, who knows, difficult to rule anything out.
That was his initial plan, however it failed miserably. It's been way over a month and I don't see light at the end of the tunnel. Anyway, Putin has indeed threatened the neighbouring non-NATO countries, however, I can't seem to find anything to backup OP's claims regarding military movement nearby Finland.

Putin's threats against non-NATO countries are nothing new, I don't believe that they will ever be fulfilled, Russia is losing the war.
1871  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Have you been infected with Covid-19? on: April 13, 2022, 06:22:26 PM
At this point we've probably all been infected with it...  I know I've been confirmed as having been exposed and received notifications 3 times.  I never bothered to get tested because I just got a good night's sleep and went about my life, but for a large % of human beings this would be the covid experience.  Children likely wouldn't even need the good night's sleep.  The fact we're vaccinating kids and getting them on a regular booster schedule for what should be considered harmless to them genuinely makes me sad to the point where I question parents that would do this to their children.

I was also infected by covid-19 despite having got first dose of vaccine but thanks God I got recovered within 2 weeks after having diagnosed covid positive. i experienced mild fever and cough during early days of infection. I used to take Panadol, cough syrup and heavy dose of vitamin D  as advised by doctor. Beside taking medicines I used to drink herbal tea 2/3 times daily which helped me a lot to reduce coughing. I think my condition didn't go worse because I had taken first dose of vaccine and after full recovery I also got 2nd dose of vaccine.
What kind of vaccine did you receive? If it was the Johnson one, you're pretty much protected with one dose, if a long period of time hasn't passed since your vaccination. If it was one of the mRNA ones (such as Pfizer or Moderna), one dose isn't sufficient enough, but will still assist you in case of an infection. Good thing that you now have received both doses, I got infected in December and had minor to mild symptoms.
1872  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation hitting a 25yr old record | Predictions for the future on: April 13, 2022, 12:52:49 PM
I don't expect to ever fully pay off the debt we own, things were going quite better before Covid-19 hit though, now we're at rock bottom again, at least we're not alone now.

The time when governments tried to help the economy and ordinary people with various measures is over, now they will try to charge us with interest, and they have two good excuses, inflation and war. It is not easy for ordinary people, but for those who knew that this time will come sooner or later, it is still easier to reconcile that we have to adjust - I have experience with much worse things than inflation, so I can accept such challenges perhaps easier than others.

P.S I was to visit Croatia next week but couldn't find affordable tickets from my area (I live on an island), I really hope I could visit next time, Zadar and all the Adriatic islands are extraordinary.

I hope you enjoy your visit, especially at this time of year when it is not too hot - and I hope it will be nice weather, because yesterday was a very stormy day with strong winds and rain along the entire coast. The good thing is that all measures against covid have been removed, masks are needed only in pharmacies, hospitals, and nursing homes. I would buy you a beer, but unfortunately, I am currently located far from the coast.
Excuse me for taking a long time to reply. Looking back to my post, I believe that I haven't phrased it correctly. I wanted to visit Croatia (Zadar to be exact), but there weren't any direct flights due to my location, and had to take another plane from Rome, after spending the night in the airport, while the whole trip would cost a fortune.

Would love to visit in the future, will certainly try to to visit within the year, I'll let you know if you're up to for a beer!

I'm currently in Poland, Krakow, that's why I'm not that active. So far it's great here.

My best regards to the whole community!
1873  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When and how did you discover Bitcoin? on: April 10, 2022, 07:04:49 PM
That's a long time ago, I don't remember how exactly I got involved in Bitcoin, but it was somewhere between 2013-2014. I was young and dumb back then, around 14-15 years old at max, with absolutely zero knowledge about cryptocurrencies. I was slowly introduced via Bitcoin faucets, gathering what seemed worthless bits back then, only to be proven wrong a few years later.

I'm on the forum since 2014, I was ignorant back then, and as an underage person, didn't have access to Bitcoin markets. I was lucky enough that some of the BTC acquired back then, was saved till now.
1874  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Have you been infected with Covid-19? on: April 10, 2022, 04:35:09 PM
BTW, the logical reason for vaccinating everyone is so that everyone gets antibodies without getting infected with the virus.

Everyone doesn't need it. Children absolutely don't need the vaccine, and there's emerging evidence of inflammatory properties that the vaccine and boosters are causing in children. Sweden has not recommended that some children, I believe 5-12, take the vaccine for this very reason. Most healthy people wouldn't need the vaccine either but took it anyways. Their choice, they probably never knew their relative risk from COVID to begin with. Older folks need the vaccine and probably need boosters. With omicron, none of this vaccine discussion matters. Vaccines are hardly effective at all with the new variant. We'll just restart these vaccine discussions when the "omicron" vaccine releases. Most people are done with COVID.
I think it is a matter of some people not understanding that practicing good healthy hygiene is the first and best vaccine everyone needed in other not to be infected by the covid-19 and for the record we have seen some people who have the shot and still get the virus.
Yes, everyone doesn't need the vaccine, an example is me and I have to get infected with the virus cause I always play by the rules. Aside from that, I have seen an adult who took the shot and she dies the next day which automatically shows that the vaccine is never for everyone.

Good hygiene certainly plays an important role, following the Covid-19 guidelines, along with proper wear of mask severely decreases your chances of infection. However, vaccines do not promise protection from contracting the disease, but they do promise to lower the mortality rate, which has decreased greatly after they rolled out.

Vaccine complications exist, however, compared to the billion of doses that have been distributed, the percentage of complications is nearly zero.

You're in a forum named after Bitcoin, complaining about it and its price? Isn't that hilarious? Okay, it has been a bit stale the past few days, so what? People are always complaining, it crashes, people complain, it gains in value, there are still people moaning about it. There's price volatility, moaning, there isn't still moaning.

It's astonishing that people always expect to be earning from massive upward moves, but end up disappointed because their bubble was just burst.

While I get your point, the virus isn't as dangerous as it was when it first came out, due to mutations, its illness is pretty mild for the majority of people. However, my opinion states that the vaccine is a way to minimise risk in case of infection. While most people will develop mild symptoms (including myself when I was infected), there's still a small chance of developing severe illness.

For instance, the mother of a friend of mine, aged 54, unvaccinated, died after contracting the disease. She was perfectly healthy, no underlying health conditions. Her health quickly deteriorated and was put in an ICU, but to no avail.
1877  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1FeexV6bAHb8ybZjqQMjJrcCrHGW9sb6uF 79k bitcoin address. The truth about it? on: April 09, 2022, 07:10:34 PM
Hello everyone! What do you think about the legendary 1FeexV6bAHb8ybZjqQMjJrcCrHGW9sb6uF address?
For those who don't know the story, 79k bitcoins were sent to this address 11 years ago, in 2011, and they were never moved, not a single dollar.
It is said that they were stolen from Mt Gox,
The first ‎79,956 BTC where deposited into the address on the 1st March 2011. Mt. Gox major hack came in around June 2011 according to Wikipedia

So the Mt Gox story is ruled out.

Craig Wright claims that he bought them from Mt Gox (he is also claiming that he is satoshi, I think he is a big scammer).
What do you think, or know, about this address and the person that got these bitcoins?
CW can go fuck himself. If he can't prove that he owns the address by signing a message using it, then you shouldn't believe all his lies.
Good detective work.

Chances are, it's an abandoned wallet since the dawn of Bitcoin, perhaps someone who sold/lost his personal files/HDD and no longer has access to the wallet. Whether we like it or not, this simple scenario could be the most dominant one.

Crazy people are still sending BTC to this address. Reminds me of 1BitcoinEaterAddressDontSendf59kuE
It has recent transactions, is the address actually being used by someone or are there people who simply dispose their coins to a random address?
1878  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Nuclear war? on: April 09, 2022, 05:55:46 PM
First rule of war: Anything the enemy says is disinformation. Whatever the Duma says is simply looking to confuse, demoralise, mislead or otherwise make the war effort more difficult.

On nuclear strikes, Putin should know well - or at least the people around him - that there is no winner to a nuclear war. No territorial gains, no political gains, no economic gains, no glory or reputation, only death and destruction for all, including Russia, Putin and his supporters.

Putin cannot dream of invading Finland, Poland or Romania without the rest of Europe and US sending a massive aid in conventional weapons. The most likely outcome of another war like this one is Putin killed by his own men and / or Putin's army so damaged that he would not be able to wage war again.
That's what I also believe, on the one hand, Putin could potentially use nuclear weapons, to contradict the fact that he's losing the war, while on the other hand, that would not only be disastrous for Ukraine, but for the whole world, which would lead to a series of bombing, leading to a devastated, uninhabitable world.
On nuclear strikes, Putin should know well - or at least the people around him - that there is no winner to a nuclear war. No territorial gains, no political gains, no economic gains, no glory or reputation, only death and destruction for all, including Russia, Putin and his supporters.

Still stock up on those iodine pills, just in case. We never know with people like Putin and Biden.

No point in stocking up on iodine pills, there are people who actually need them, taking a single pill won't revert that the world would be destroyed after a nuclear attack, thus the living conditions would be that terrible, that iodine and radiation will be the least of your problems.
1879  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation hitting a 25yr old record | Predictions for the future on: April 09, 2022, 04:32:30 PM
Yes and this is why many markets like crypto are struggling to make new ATHs and many medium type of stocks. Inflation is very high and central banks need to control it by raising rates. They need to raise rates so there is less demand for goods and in return the prices will go down.

One example of this is to suppress the prices of real estate. They will weed out many buyers because payments will be higher and as a result they will make prices stop rising and maybe drop in certain markets.
Certainly, the market has been awful the past few weeks, my DeFi investment is going downhill, like the rest of the market, showing little to no recovery for days.
A little update, after the announcement of March inflation in Greece, from the Hellenic Statistical Authority. Greece's inflation in March surpassed 8.9%, the highest since 1995. On top of that, the average price for fuel is 2€/liter for petrol and €1.70/liter for diesel, while we're having one of the most expensive electricity in Europe.

I will not say that there is anything in the fact that Greece is in a position to pay dearly for all the help it received to get out of bankruptcy, but it seems to me that your hands are quite tied and that you are at the mercy of Brussels and the European Central Bank. I will not say that it is better in my country because we are somewhere in the middle when it comes to inflation and data for February, but since we have our own currency, some things are still easier to implement than being in the eurozone.

Some other countries are even more disadvantaged with double-digit inflation rates - Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia are examples that there can always be worse. Given that all three countries have decided to stop importing Russian oil and gas, it remains to be seen how this will affect inflation in the coming months.

I don't expect to ever fully pay off the debt we own, things were going quite better before Covid-19 hit though, now we're at rock bottom again, at least we're not alone now. Definitely, there are countries with worse figures, however, it's pretty hard to compare who's in the worse position, unless we take into account living costs and minimum wage, something which is severely low here, compared to other countries.

P.S I was to visit Croatia next week but couldn't find affordable tickets from my area (I live on an island), I really hope I could visit next time, Zadar and all the Adriatic islands are extraordinary.
1880  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation hitting the world every year on: April 08, 2022, 09:26:37 PM
There won't be a pandemic continuously happening in the next 50 years, so expect that things will start to recover as soon as the COVID-19 pandemic is completely gone. Unfortunately, though, there is the Russian invasion of Ukraine which rocked the prices even more. The timing is really bad. I hope this won't last long.

As far as inflation is concerned in general, though, things are already designed for it. We don't need to tackle it as if it is an uncommon phenomenon. But let's not commit the mistake of saving too much in fiat as the interest in banks is normally lower than the inflation rate. Well, at least we have Bitcoin as a saving alternative.
Covid-19 might be gone, however, there's no guarantee that a new infectious disease doesn't appear in the upcoming years. Overpopulation, poor hygiene in several parts of the world, pollution, globalization are some possible causes for such diseases. Let's take into account that the Spanish Flu was spread throughout the world due to mass transportation of soldiers, while the terrible living conditions during the war may have contributed to the emergence of such an infectious disease, which quickly turned into a pandemic.
