2221  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Whale Temple on: March 14, 2014, 10:53:19 PM
It is time for the bulls to join in prayer and call upon the great wall whale from Mar 4 to save them from impending doom.

I noticed that bitfinex was the one exchange that didn't participate in that 'joint statement of bitcoin exchanges after mtgox'
2223  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: March 14, 2014, 10:00:55 PM
Is it worth the risk of holding fiat on exchanges for an entire month or two to possibly increase coins by 5-30%?
2224  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: March 13, 2014, 03:25:15 AM
I do not understand all this ripple hate here (i.e. pre-mined scamcoin, lol). Ripple protocol is exactly what somebody above said would facilitate bitcoin adoption - a way to conveniently deal with many currencies, without the hassle for the user.

True, pre-mine makes XRP a bad get-rich-quick scheme - but what does it have to do with technology?

So far, whenever we see somebody embracing bitcoin - even regulators or Wall Street - there was very positive reaction. Except for ripple, for some reason?
I think it's because ripple is centralized.
2225  Economy / Speculation / Re: Prepare for March 16 Dip on: March 12, 2014, 09:58:35 PM
Thanks. I'll send some btc to bitfinex and be ready to trade the dip on margin.
2226  Economy / Speculation / Re: It's been three months... on: March 12, 2014, 12:34:15 PM
If timing markets was that easy, why isn't everyone a millionaire already?

Also, why are you leaving out 2011 in your chart?
2227  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 12, 2014, 12:01:12 PM
TERA,
huh?
2228  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitstamp is the Next Gox and why Bitcoin will be at $300 soon on: March 12, 2014, 11:57:24 AM
5 digit fiat withdrawal just processed/confirmed in 3 business days.
2229  Economy / Speculation / Re: Challenge: if you really are a guru, post trades in real time on: March 12, 2014, 11:51:38 AM
Just in time for when many of us are going to quit trading and go into offline for a few months.
2230  Economy / Speculation / Re: This isn't a price poll, but rather a How sure are you that BTC will succeed? on: March 12, 2014, 11:36:17 AM
I think OP and I have a different definition of "succeed". I don't think this just means where btc will be in 2-3 years, or what the price will be at any point in time. I'm thinking more like will bitcoin still be around in 20-30 years. How about 200-300 years? Will it survive after EC is cracked - will there be some miracle patch, etc.? Will the programmable money ideas be utilized in mainstream adoption? Will bitcoin solve the world's banking problems and save us from the fed?
2231  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: March 12, 2014, 11:33:06 AM
but it's rational value is 1/4 of bitcoins ($150 @600),
Can you explain why litecoin is supposed to be 1/4 of bitcoin? I understand "the max coins of ltc is 1/4 the max coins of bitcoin" but this logic is flawed.
1. Litecoin does not have anywhere near the same adoption level as Bitcoin. They do not have the same fundamentals. How can you make a comparison involving only the supply side but not the demand side?
2. There are actually 8 times more Litecoins mined per day than Bitcoin, not 4, and the daily supply is a big determiner of price.
3. Bitcoin has a long history in which much of bitcoin is hoarded forever or lost. It is theorized only a small fraction of bitcoins trade on the market. Litecoin, on the other hand, doesn't have as many coins lost. Almost its entire supply trades on the market, which is a huge amount of coins.
2232  Economy / Speculation / Re: What would a sudden skyrocket of Bitcoin price do to other alt coins? on: March 12, 2014, 09:13:07 AM
it depends if alts are added to new exchanges. the last bubble was caused by China and the alts were added to Chinese exchanges too which is why they rallied along with Bitcoin. The next btc bubble is likely to be caused by exchanges opening in New York. The new exchanges will probably take volume away from btc-e which has already lost a lot of its trust and volume recently due to the cyprus/russia events. If btc-e and the existing alt exchanges are still the only exchanges trading alts and they aren't added to the New York exchanges then alts vs btc will likely drop.
2233  Economy / Speculation / Re: Next ATH: July on: March 12, 2014, 09:05:51 AM
The $400 in June and then ATH in July doesn't make any sense unless the $400 is a brief flashcrash caused by some mega silk road type incident, but even then it would be $530 and not $400.

The vision with the castle is that it would be a Bitcoin enclave. We would buy land around it and repair and erect buildings and make a small community living there physically. For many - me included - it would be a second or third home. Estonia is very conducive to business and corporate tax is 0%.

The first humble project will be the restoration of some bedrooms (for 30), a restaurant (for 50) and conference facilities (for 50) in the East wing.
Risto school of bitcraft and coinery.
2235  Economy / Speculation / Re: The New Moon for 2014 will be 1000dollars on: March 11, 2014, 11:21:23 PM

"moon phases" indicator. I'm not quite sure how to use it.
2236  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 11, 2014, 11:17:28 PM
It is interesting that bitfinex has similar walls approx +$1 above stamp ($630 - $631 and $640 - $641).
It's the same wall. Bitfinex adjusted the price by $1 as a fee for the cross-execution.
2237  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 11, 2014, 11:03:18 PM

Log scale downtrend. I'm such an ass...
2238  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 11, 2014, 10:53:31 PM
Post above killed my optimism.

I wonder if 645 is the new 825, we reach it several times, and every time we reach it, there is "CCMF", trains, and rockets, but then eventually we fall again...

You could draw the downtrend on a logarithmic scale instead of a linear scale and then there is a lot more time.
2239  Economy / Speculation / Re: Finra Alert says bitcoin more than a bit risky on: March 11, 2014, 10:30:47 PM
Wow Bitcoin is a high risk investment? Who would have known? You don't say? Surely nobody will invest now.
