2221  Economy / Speculation / Re: the algorithm customarily increases each computer's electricity usage accordingl on: September 11, 2022, 04:26:45 AM
https://www.thestreet.com/crypto/news/new-york-state-assembly-to-ban-proof-of-work-crypto-mining-for-two-years

The bill prohibits fossil fuel permits for crypto-mining relying on the proof-of-work consensus algorithm. The consensus algorithm validates a cryptocurrency transaction by allowing people to compete to add new blocks. As virtual miners compete to be the first to solve the complex puzzles, the algorithm customarily increases each computer's electricity usage accordingly.

Who writes this trash?

Yes it doesn't make sense what they wrote. Basically miners compete to be the first to solve the complex puzzles, however the algo increases the difficulty not in electricity consumption.

Only way that electrcitiy consumption is increased is if someone buys more miners or ASICs or GPUs. But the algo still stays the same. What the main goal of the article should of been is just to state that it consumes lots of power during an electricity shortage.
2222  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What's next for cryptocurrency? on: September 11, 2022, 04:04:23 AM
I think on Tuesday we should get a good direction of where crypto will head in the near future. Its when the CPI numbers are coming out. We are predicting a CPI change of 0%. So if this number is wrong and CPI goes up 1% again, then we will see massive sell off in all markets such as stocks because it means fed increasing rates is not working and they need to hike more.

And crypto will most likely follow this path. Summer is over and the markets are finally going to start trending now, question is which way.
2223  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: trading strategies how to turn 50$ into 100k$ in a month ? on: September 11, 2022, 04:02:11 AM
The ones that made $50 into $100K basically got extremely lucky. Its no different than those kids who invested in Gamespot early in 2021 who made crazy amounts of money.

The issue is that its extremely difficult to achieve. Most that did it, did it out of luck.

You can buy every currency out there and most likely most of them will go to $0 before one goes 100x in value. Try and start small and grow it gradually. Forget about these huge gains they are not realistic.
2224  Economy / Speculation / Re: Purchased at $23,500, when should I start to panic? When should I average down? on: September 11, 2022, 03:59:39 AM
If you bought near $20K, you most likely about it at 1/3rd of the price compared to the people that invested at the end of 2021 and early 2022. Remember how celebrities were pumping crypto at the time. So many people are bag holding at $60K or so. Many already sold at a loss.

Your price is very close to the current price. Just dollar cost average every week for whatever price we are at and hold on to it. Nobody knows what the low will be or if it was $18K. Sure $10K is a great price however everybody is expecting bitcoin to go there and most likely it'll never reach that price and you will miss out.
2225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PoW coins apart from Ethereum aren't that bad on: September 11, 2022, 03:56:05 AM
These coins arent pumping because of the upcoming merge, they are pumping because for some reason many coins are pumping this week. Remember Luna? Yes the one that started this bear market is also pumping.

I am guessing its because Summer is over and there is more liquidity in the markets. So there are many active traders now compared to a few weeks ago. And many coins are pumping left and right this week, including these POW coins.
2226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH Mining equipment on: September 11, 2022, 03:53:33 AM

Many cryptocurrencies have gone through ICOs and the US Securities and Exchange Commission may recognize them as shares. Are they also waiting for the fate of Ripple?

Yes I never understood why they never considered ETH as a security. My only guess is that its mineable currently and maybe because if ETH was sued by SEC then most likely all of crypto will crash and alot of capital is invested in ETH and BTC. They are mostly doing it to protect the investors.

Why they sued Ripple I still don't understand because there are many currencies such as Ripple. And its crazy how that lawsuit is going all these years. Pretty much lawyers are the only ones making money.
2227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PSU SPONDOOLIES SPX36 on: September 10, 2022, 03:45:23 AM
According to
https://www.spondoolies-tech.com/products/spx36?variant=12551612104776

It comes with a 4400 Watt PSU, so most likely its within the specs of the PSU.

Server PSUs can be run at a load close to its rating for long periods of time. They are heavy duty and are built much better than a regular ATX PSU.
2228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH Mining equipment on: September 10, 2022, 03:42:56 AM
Yes most people don't realise that ETH had a huge premine which was sold as an ICO back in 2014. And one thing I don't understand is how its not considered a security when it had an offering.

BTC clearly had no premine or ICO. You had to mine it or buy from someone who mined it to get BTC. Ethereum had a huge premine. Now the coins that are released per day as mined ETH are nothing compared to the ICO premine sale back from 2014.

2229  Economy / Speculation / Re: Here is why the price has remained low on: September 08, 2022, 04:05:06 AM
Price is going down lately because the bond yields are starting to break out again to the upside. Stock indicies aren't near lows however many stocks are hitting 52 weeks low everyday.

Last time bond yields broke to the upside we kept hitting new lows. Then they peaked in June and we recovered a little bit. Many traders are looking what the bond traders are doing now which have a good knowledge of the market.

The next CPI print is key.
2230  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Unstable grid power, seeking for solution on: September 08, 2022, 04:02:44 AM
I have less experience about electricity and electronics but I am so sure that you can't use a pressing iron on a stabilizer, am I right? The grid power is not stable since 30hours ago, it fluctuates up and down and it's affecting my rig so I am thinking, is a stabilizer safe for a mining rig? I'm drawing 1000watt so what's the best stabilizer I can use if I can....
An electric kettle or iron does not need a stabilizer, because they will work at low voltage, only the heating process will be longer.
I have 220 volts in the network, but there are jumps when the voltage drops to 180 volts and a little lower. A long mining experience in the village has shown that ATX power supplies from well-known manufacturers such as Corsair can easily cope with this task.
If your voltage fluctuates between 100-220 volts, then this is illegal, and your electricity supplier must deal with this problem.

Sure the PSUs are suppose to provide protection however can you really trust them in protecting thousands of dollars in equipment? Not worth the risk.

Going between 100 Volts and 200 Volts is not going to happen. Typically what happens is you get something like 90V. And like you said. Most light bulbs or stoves won't be affected but sensitive electronics will be.

90V is worse because it'll cause the current to increase to make up for it. If its over voltage like 140V then most PSUs will quickly shut down.
2231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH Mining equipment on: September 08, 2022, 03:55:57 AM
Most likely there is going to be crazy volatility in 6 days when the merge goes live. Its also the day that the inflation numbers are released and this will play a great deal on the stock markets which the crypto markets are correlated too.

I am guessing its going to be a sell the news event. Most likely many are buying ETH to get the free ETHPOW token and many will dump right after the merge.

As for GPU prices? No idea. Depends how many ASICs were actually on the network.
2232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PSU SPONDOOLIES SPX36 on: September 08, 2022, 03:50:20 AM
I didn't think anyone actually bought this ASIC. Back in the day Any SP ASIC was very well built. It was so well built that they ran outta business because they couldn't compete with Bitmain.

Most likely they use regular server PSUs. Just open it up and get something similar in power rating. I doubt they are custom PSUs. Its just 2 240V PSU installed together. However since you bought on eBay just send it back instead of dealing with this.
2233  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Binance to remove USDC as a tradable asset. on: September 06, 2022, 04:06:34 PM
Don't many exchanges do this already. I think if you deposit USDC to FTX it automatically is creditted as USD. The reason they do this is because it doesn't make sense to have markets like

BTC/USD
BTC/USDT
BTC/USDC
BTC/BUSD
BTC/TUSD
etc

If you combine all of them you get better liquidity and you save from having to convert between stablecoins like USDC/USDT.
2234  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How To Become A Profitable Trader with stop loss and trailing stop loss on: September 06, 2022, 04:03:04 PM
If you are spot trading and can't make a profit due to fees then there are a few reasons why.

1) You are using the wrong exchange. Most likely you are using an exchange not meant for active trading but instead long term investing. Some of these exchanges like Gemini charge like 1-2% per trade. So automatically you use 2-4%.

2) You are way over trading. If you are using an exchange like Binanace and can't make a profit this way. You are taking way too many trades and closing them too early. Overtrading is not good for trading.

2235  Economy / Economics / Re: Will crypto jobs make government jobs irrelevant in the near future? on: September 06, 2022, 03:39:46 AM
Crypto jobs right now are very similar to oil jobs pretty much. When the price of crypto is high then companies are having trouble finding enough workers to fill all the demand for their services. When crypto is down they lay everybody off.

Basically exactly what is happening with oil market cycles. So the jobs are there but they are very volatile. So not the best for many workers.
2236  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Unstable grid power, seeking for solution on: September 06, 2022, 03:37:28 AM
If your power is this unstable I wouldn’t mine at all. Because you will end up frying all your equipment.

So if you are heavy invested I would be careful because all it will take is one voltage browning moment where voltages halve and all your capacitors are going to blow up due to huge current spikes. Most PSU won’t be able to provide enough protection from them.

If your GPUs are old then I would just keep mining but not on newer equipment.
2237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NEW EthereumPoW on: September 06, 2022, 03:33:30 AM
Regarding ASICs and centralization.

I think many didn’t worry about ASIC centralization on ETH because compared to a regular GPU it’s efficiency wasn’t that all that great. Especially when comparing a GPU mining sha256 compared to an ASIC. Hence why they never upgraded the algo because they saw no threat.

Also all of bitcoins hashrate is ASICs and it’s also centralized by large farms. Remember before Segwit how difficult it was to make them signal to make the Segwit switch? So this is why ASICs on ETH wasn’t considered a huge security concern.
2238  Economy / Speculation / Re: Stressful crypto market on: September 05, 2022, 03:23:27 AM
Many people don’t understand that you can buy partial bitcoins, you don’t need to buy an entire coin like a stock. So this is why many people invest in cheaper coins instead because most don’t have $20K of saving laying around.

And right now it’s a very choppy time to trade. It’s summer still and the liquidity is still low. Generally September is a bad month for stocks and crypto.
2239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NEW EthereumPoW on: September 05, 2022, 03:20:08 AM
You need $25K to day trade. Saying its to prevent losses. And since most people don't have $25K saved up, they can't day trade

It's not to protect idiot day traders, it's to protect their victims when they can't make their margin calls.

I don’t think that is it. The margin is very low for stocks. It’s 3x for large cap stocks. Very illiquid stocks you don’t have margin generally. Many $1 stocks or so also don’t have 3x leverage.

And if you don’t cover your negative balance they will basically send the collection agency after you. Since they have all your data.
2240  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is a reliable store of value - what’s a reliable store of value for you? on: September 04, 2022, 10:15:58 PM
Yes just because something is scarce doesn’t mean it automatically will be valueuable. Take a classic Ferrari limited edition, it obviously will have huge value. However there are many scarce cars such as a Nissan Rouge convertible, however since nobody wants it, it doesn’t have much value.

Same with many of the alt coins out there.
Many have small supply however they still have low value because nobody wants them.
