2261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think shops should accept bitcoin? on: May 27, 2020, 10:59:02 PM
We cannot tell them what to do because it's their own decision but they can use a payment gateway that will instantly convert their coins to fiat to mitigate the risk of a loss.

Accepting Bitcoin could put the business on the map and give it an edge over the competition.
2262  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is crypto is better then fiat? on: May 27, 2020, 10:51:48 PM
If you become a whale by buying Bitcoin then you can as well become a whale holding company shares and manipulating the position of that company on the market.

Years ago people believed that there are groups who got bitcoin almost for free nad those groups are now manipulating the market but it's clear that the people who had Bitcoin in 2010 sold it or are still holding. Those who are manipulating the market sim ply bought it over the years and the same thing could happen to you on any other market.

Whales are in every stock!
2263  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hello everyone! Do you still have confidence in altcoin? on: May 24, 2020, 10:00:02 PM
I value my privacy and I'd use cryptocurrencies to shop online, especially if I wanted to buy products that I wouldn't like anybody to know about Wink

I think the current market is still in an early stage and recovering from a long winter so it is a buying opportunity.
If Bitcoin goes up in value and it will altcoins will follow.

The best applications are privacy coins but they're now under attack from governments so if they survive they're going to go up in value.
2264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Enough of bounty scam, you can help to stop it too. on: May 24, 2020, 09:47:53 PM
No one can stop scam projects in this market. It always appears in many different ways and forms, we can only avoid them with our own experience and not promote it.

You can stop it but first you have to stop being greedy.

Just start asking them to pay with tokens that are already trading on reputable exchanges.

It's not a problem for the team to invest some real money in their campaigns. They could put in a thousand dollars and buy any coin they partner with that is already trading and use that 1000 as a downpayment. Once the work is done everyone gets $10 in that tradable currency + additional new tokens that can be worth something or nothing, but at least you'll get some money for your work.

If a team doesn't have 1000 dollars for campaigns you can expect them to never achieve anything.
2265  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Beware of lying project team on: May 24, 2020, 09:39:23 PM
Most projects are scams so most project teams will be eventually caught lying. It's as clear as the sun rising in the East.

I always use the same one strike rule with new projects. If I find any lie on their site or any fake picture, fake resume, anything, I stay away. Once a liar always a liar!
2266  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price could reach $ 100,000 by 2025 on: May 24, 2020, 09:28:12 PM
100 thousand is one of only 2 possible outcomes. Believe it or not Bitcoin will not stay at 10 or 15 thousand. It's not possible and I'm willing to bet all my money on that.

Analitically, technically, fundamentally, it can only progress or regress. What this means is Bitcoin will eventually pass 20 thousand and then 50 thousand and then probably also 100 thousand to in the next 10 years, or it will keep going down towards $100. It will not go to 0 but very low and some other currency will take its place as a digital store of value.
2267  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to answer when asked "Can I make money mining bitcoin?" on: May 24, 2020, 09:15:07 PM
Many people make money mining bitcoin and it's even possible to mine using your own solar power but this is an extreme long term investment.

I'm pretty sure 90% or more of first time askers have no expectations of having to lay out for dedicated equipment or having to balance power vs outlay. They're probably expecting to fire up that Chromebook and watch those bitcoins pour in.

It's one of the reasons why all those scam browser miners and cloud mining schemes managed to make so much money.

Idiots thought mining Bitcoin is like making an account on some site or buying a mining contract and on the other site of the server some guy will buy and set up a miner for you every time you click a button Cheesy

I've always laughet at those photoshopped pictures of giant warehouses full of miners those scammers were posting to lure newbies in.
2268  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: An inspirational story of a 19 year old boy. on: May 24, 2020, 09:02:40 PM
Quote
Most of us have at least $1000 in our savings account.

Lol! Your dad is either a millionaire or you are unaware about the reality. $1000 is a big amount and I bet more than 95% of the young age people don't have even half of it.

The story may inspire young age people to invest in bitcoin but if they end up loosing money in that process, that will be a real pain for them. I know few persons who had invested heavily in bitcoin back in late 2017 and still paying their credit card debt from their salaries. The boy in the story just got lucky!

I have to agree with you on this. When Bitcoin was in its early stage at less than $5 a coin most of us were not aware of its existence.

At that time I was still at school and did not even have a decent computer and had to ask my parents for money every time I wanted to go out or order a pizza. When I had $10 in my pocket I felt lucky.

To go all in with your savings is always a difficult choice even if it's 1000 or less.
2269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to answer when asked "Can I make money mining bitcoin?" on: May 24, 2020, 08:51:49 PM
Answer yes because this is the truth.

Can you make money mining Bitcoin is a question comparable to can you earn a million dollars or can you become a successful trader.

Many people make money mining bitcoin and it's even possible to mine using your own solar power but this is an extreme long term investment.
2270  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Average Weekly Investment on: May 24, 2020, 07:24:01 PM
There has to be very little of those average 30 million investments because Bitcoin is barely moving up. In 2019 we went to 13 thousand and now can't even break 10 so what's wrong?

Did that 14 thousand happen without all those institutional investors? Were people ignoring greyscale and buying on exchanges in 2019 to move the price and now switched to more OTC trading? Was the volume fake back then?

There has to be some explanation because the charts are showing that we are struggling more than we were in June 2019.
2271  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi isn't that rich. on: May 24, 2020, 07:10:03 PM
If he really started selling the market would panic and dump hard but before all those people would manage to sell he'd liquidate a large portion of his coins.

Even if he were to sell just 100000 bitcoins for half of the current price so around 5000 dollars that's 500 million USD! And that would be a very small part of his stash.

He is rich both theoretically and practically but selling would destroy his creation. I don't think having some fiat money is more important to him than his life's work that changed the way people see digital money and decentralization.
2272  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is Bitcoin price drops is a buying opportunity? on: May 24, 2020, 06:40:03 PM
Many of the discussants respond that this is a really good opportunity, but I think the answer is not so obvious. Much depends on how long you are ready to “freeze” your money. Plus, if there is a bearish trend ahead, then after some time there will be more favorable prices for purchases and it is more reasonable to buy at lower levels.

And you are right. A 5% drop is not a good opportunity in Bitcoin because it often doesn't end with 5%.

A trader would be satisfied by something like this but if you're a holder you should wait for a better opportunity. Bitcoin hits a 10-15% drop every 2 -3 months, it shouldn't be a long wait.
2273  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you feel this pressure on physical gambling? on: May 23, 2020, 11:04:44 PM
Because the state does not allow physical casinos, I have never experienced the pressures that the OP said when visiting physical casinos. However, I only have a few habits gambling on online sites and especially online crypto gambling.

I love dice and I have played it on several sites. As an experience, I can be said to be disadvantaged in gambling because I often lose compared to winning so I have to come out with an empty balance. To win, I had to make a number of attempts and also use several techniques. But in the end I was still unlucky and could my efforts to achieve victory be called something like pressure ? If can, that means physical gambling and online gambling are both having pressure for players even with different situations.
Before I tried to play the traditional way of casino and other gambling games. One of the games I had tried is betting in Billiards in which I will bet that I can win the game for a big amount of money. As long as no one defeats me I will play continuesly without realizing that I am slowly being an addict. But when I experienced a lose streak, I got pressured and had decided to stop playing gambling because I am really afraid to lose all of the things I had just because of the addiction.

So that's a positive kind of pressure. The one that made you stop playing.

What OP is talking about is also called peer pressure. It's when you look around and see other people doing something and feel compelled to do the same.

I've never cared much about that and never did things like continue drinking because my friends wanted to get drunk. I do what I feel like I wanna do not the things others want.
2274  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Slots are better than Dice. on: May 23, 2020, 10:45:18 PM
Even if you're right OP there's more dice casinos to choose from and not many people actually play slots online.

The beauty of slots is the lights and sounds that draw people in and the interaction with the machine that keeps them playing. It's extremely popular in Asia where they even have more skilled version of slots called pachinko.

You can say all you want about slots being better but Bitcoin dice games are still the most popular.
2275  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Gambling Games on: May 23, 2020, 10:29:33 PM
I wonder why there's no poker. Big fakeouts and all ins make this game the most spectacular.

Out of the things OP listed probably slots is the most spectacular because the most people play it and it brings casinos the most revenue. I don't like it though.

From this thread I've learned that hi low is called hilo in some places. I didn't know that before! Cheesy

2276  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling hiding, rules ignored. on: May 23, 2020, 09:47:59 PM
So you guys always obey the rules of your government? Is that it?

How come the government banned people from entering casinos but did not shut down casinos and allowed them to operate? If a casino is open you can expect people to go there. The rules should not forbid people from playing but casinos from being open.
I'm seeing a law breaker, that's how I put on how you reply this thread, am I right? What's the harm obeying rules imposed by your government?

People know that casinos should be closed by now and if there's no announcement from the government to operate they shouldn't have entered, so they are at fault too. Rules goes for both not just for one entity.

I don't see obeying as harmful, but if I don't see a point in something I don't do it.

Yes we could say that I'm a lawbreaker but there's a saying that rules are meant to be broken, is there not?

The rules for the current situation change every month. If they one day say that you have to wear an oxygen mask every time you go out are you going to buy one and cary a tank on your back? Cheesy
2277  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gold Medalist Bought Bitcoin on: May 23, 2020, 09:33:33 PM
It's great because Bitcoin is entering what we could call a new phase where it becomes fashionable.

Before that it was first seen as money of the Internet nerds, then as a speculative investment compared to gambling, fools gold, to finally become a real investment and digital gold, a gold substitute for millenials.

Now it's becoming trendy with people wanting to have it so that they don't get left behind and have something to talk about at parties. Let's see what the next year will bring.
2278  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin twitter account today asks "If you met satoshi what would you say?" on: May 23, 2020, 09:25:27 PM
I'd first ask for a proof. There's so many Satoshi imposters running around that this would make me extremely suspicious. I'd think someone is trying tos cam me.

You'll have to agree with me that getting an email from someone saying he's Satoshi would make you feel like reading a message from the Nigerian Prince.  Tongue

I also hope the guy who wrote "hi Craig" is joking.
2279  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2009 coins on the move? Probably not Satoshi on: May 23, 2020, 09:09:02 PM
Maybe it has not affected the price as much as you think!

Bitcoin has been struggling to break 10 thousand and there's been a recent double top that signals a short term reversal. The price is just looking for a support from which it can continue upwards.

It was debunked many times already that those were not Satoshi's coins! Satoshi was not the only person in the world who mined in 2009.
Welp, this is the only time that I remember the market suddenly plunge when a certain amount of Bitcoin is being moved. So I'm sure there's a huge impact on it and whoever that person who moved their Bitcoin in an old address is an early investors but we don't know who are they. Best advice is wait a little longer to see if the price would normally back up or just gonna go down for the bottom.

What bottom are you talking about? Back to 3000 dollar bottom? You can forget about that.

Bitcoin was mined by a few people in the early days and the thought that it's Satoshi is simply ridiculous because it's such a small amount.

If Satoshi wanted to move money you'd see a million bitcoins being moved not 50.
2280  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: J.K. Rowling, Author Of Harry Potter Is Interested in Bitcoin, Time To Short? on: May 23, 2020, 08:58:04 PM
I don't get why people interested in BTC like OP can still say such naive things like "bitcoin is taking a big hit"

The sky is falling! Bitcoin went down from 9800 to 9400 time to short and it doesn't matter that it was lower than 9400 just 5 days ago! Let's make a big thing out of it and keep saying that it's a big price hit because nobody will remember that this month we were trading for 8500 Wink

Any serious trader knows that an asset going from $9,800 to $9,400 is a bit hit. Perhaps if you only have $100 invested, you will not feel like it's a big hit but it is.

I have more than 1 Bitcoin and it's not a serious hit. It's a joke.

Don't compare traditional assets with Bitcoin. Bitcoin is a separate class, a first of its kind.

Normal assets don't go down by 70% one year to go up by 300% next year. For an investment that every year moves by at least 50% up or down 5% is nothing.
