1641  Economy / Exchanges / Re: KuCoin Has Found The Hackers Who Stole $281 Million on: October 03, 2020, 04:51:53 PM
It's a bit of an overstatement. They found out the addresses to which the coins were transfered and made them public so that the coin teams and exchanges can block them.

They don't know who owns the addresses and about 30% of the hacked coins still was not blocked. Even if the hackers manage to liquidate 10% it's still a lot of money for them.

Also, we don't know if the 30% is really what they control. It may be more. I wouldn't trust the news coming from a hacked exchange 100%.
1642  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is monero a good buy because of the application? on: October 03, 2020, 04:33:29 PM
On one hand its's great because of the anonymity and the fact that even the US government with all its resources can't track the transactions.

On the other they are starting to influence exchanges around the world to stop accepting monero. There may be a time when you won't be able to trade it on any high liquidity exchanges, only on shady ones that can steal from you or get hacked and this will limit the use of this coin and lower its value.
1643  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coin do you trust, BNB or ETH? on: October 03, 2020, 04:10:02 PM
I trust both BNB and ETH but i like to invest in ethereum. Because BNB is limited to Binance but there is no such limitation for ETH. There are more pair in ETH. Also i think after release of ETH 2.0, ETH price will be increased.

In other words BNB is centralized just like any other company-controlled cryptocurrency. You can see how  easy it is to destroy a company by reading the recent development in the Bitmex case.

They arrested one of the shareholders and immediately people started withdrawing money from the exchange and speculating if this is going to be a collapse similar to mtgox.
If CS gets arrested or dies you can expect a big dump on BNB.
1644  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Ripple (XRP) might be the future of digital payments on: October 03, 2020, 03:59:05 PM
A centralized shitcoin like XRP will never be a future of anything but Ripple company.

It made millions of dollars making promises and selling them to gullible investors and it's going to keep making money as long as they have their premined coins to dump on the market.
1645  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Cryptospace is getting Worst on: October 02, 2020, 10:02:41 PM
This rope reminds me of all those ponzi coins that openly said they're ponzis and people still bought them hoping they'll be able to exit first with a profit.

People are braindead, don't blame the space when you're a part of it.

Those rope devs took the opposite approach and gained followers this way. Most projects want you to buy so they chose to do something different.
1646  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trump gets Covid and we Crash? on: October 02, 2020, 09:42:45 PM
Imagine what would happen if Trump died.

A huge market drop and then China gets nuked -> WWIII

Hopefully he is only lying to get more votes.

Who would nuke another nuclear superpower? Only someone with a death wish.

The S&P crash coincided with the news about charges against bitmex. Also one of the people involved in the exchange was arrested, the others were not because they were outside the US.

There's nothing to worry about. Such news 2 or 3 years ago would take us down by at least 10%. The market is more mature and less volatile now than was a few years ago.
1647  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What If Captain Kirk Used Bitcoin? on: October 02, 2020, 09:30:18 PM
Dude, I have news for you, Star Trek isn’t real Grin
Seriously though, if they used bitcoin as their currency in the films then presumably as Star Trek is popular then more normies would have bought bitcoin & the price would be higher Smiley

It's pretty good though.

Do you know that in the original star trek in the 70s they used wireless communicators that had a flap? about 30 years later phones based on that design like Motorola Razr became very popular and there are new models coming up till this day.

I remember that the most popular curency was gold plated latinum but there were some rare substances out there that served the purpose of money like dilithium used by warp cores to generate power.
1648  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mediocre/People. on: October 02, 2020, 09:21:09 PM
it's funny that my friends still think that bitcoin is a multi-level marketing product.
another friend of mine also thinks bitcoin is bitconnect.
in my country, cryptocurrency is categorized as an asset. it's forbidden to use cryptocurrency as a currency  Grin
however, it can be traded just like commodities.
then, how I am supposed to tell my friends about bitcoin?
bitcoin is a cryptocurrency that can't be used as a currency yet?  Grin

I know how you feel. When I talk about it with someone much older than me they usually ask: how much was it worth 10 years ago? less than a  dollar? and now it's 10 thousand? You poor child, don't you see it's a scam?
1649  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's your HODL and favorite project on: October 01, 2020, 10:38:59 PM
I don't hold many altcoins.

I have ETH of course because it has some potential with 2.0. I bought some a year ago in the bear market and made so much profit that I'll put it in my long term wallet along with BTC.

Then there's Cardano but it's a coin that was full of promises and nothing else. I honestly don't know why I'm still holding it.
1650  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as Company Cash Reserve on: October 01, 2020, 10:21:56 PM
Not sure if the tweet is real. Holding reserves in Bitcoin seems risky.

Bitcoin is still an investment not a safe store of value for a company and it's because although I believe in Bitcoin and know it's going to gain value over time it has periods of short term bearishness where it can take months or even years before the price normalizes.

As a company you may need the money here and now because of expansion or a worse year that makes you reach for reserves. You can't wait 2 yearsfor the bear market to be over.
1651  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Official resellers of hardware wallets. on: October 01, 2020, 10:06:58 PM
If your old trezor doesn't work maybe there's an easy fix to it.

If the screen is blank it's probably not the memory that's damaged but just the lcd driver or maybe the backlight.

It's possible you could have it fixed by someone who normally fixes phones or electronic watches. The principles are the same.

I'd trust the official resellers. I'm sure it's possible to remake the package and the seal but I've never heard of anyone who was scammed after buying a new wallet in its orginal packaging.
1652  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Florida man charged with scamming investors out of $6.8M in crypto trading schem on: October 01, 2020, 07:27:49 PM
This won't end well for him. What was he even thinking?

Now he's going to have to take the plea and this usually means a year or 2 behind bars and return of all stolen money.

Was it really worth it? If he tried to sell everything and run with the money I'd maybe understand his way of thinking.
1653  Economy / Economics / Re: Trump's Economy or Biden’s Economy - which version is better. on: October 01, 2020, 07:15:05 PM
Trump was really overestimated when he was taking over. People thought he'd be great for cryptocurrencies as a free market investor, shareholder and so on but he never attempted to popularize or support crypto. He's the man who likes his green.

When we look from a crypto holder's viewpoint both of them are going to be bad choices but Biden probably a worse one.

1654  Economy / Economics / Re: FOLLOW THIS RULES TO BECOME RICH on: October 01, 2020, 07:06:51 PM
Rule 2
Monitor your expenses ( Even the tip you give to a stripper)

I monitor my expenses so that I don't even consider going to strip clubs. Wink

Rule 3
Don't gamble

Tell that to professional gamblers who made fortunes this way.

Rule 4
Don't invest in women (gold diggers)

What if you ARE a woman? Don't invest in men? Cheesy
1655  Economy / Speculation / Re: Predict the bitcoin price range as we enter the New Year on: October 01, 2020, 06:48:17 PM
I think that we'll stay in the 10-12 thousand range.

I'm bullish enough to discard the possibility of sub 10 thousand unless it's a momentary dip like on september 9. That one did not even last an hour.

I also find 13-14 thousand very unlikely. If we manage to break 12 for the first time since August the price is going to catch a strong FOMO uptrend breach 14 thousand.
1656  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Openbazaar needs your support on: October 01, 2020, 06:09:04 PM
I will not support them because I haven't used them at all.

Every time someone was talking about  it on the forum I kept opening their site but there really wans't anything that I liked or thought to be priced so competitively that I'd consider buying it.

I wish them all the best because no crypto business should go bankrupt, but if that is the market's judgement, so be it.
1657  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: French police arrest terror financing ring that used Bitcoin coupons on: October 01, 2020, 05:59:59 PM
This happens usually in everyday because of its hidden engagements. The reasons for using bitcoin here is hidden transfer. I saw last week Twitter hacking using bitcoin payments. So now it is easy to collect for hidden transfer by using bitcoin payments system.

What hidden transfers? These days you have to buy coins somewhere. If you buy on an exchange you will not hide anything.

It was pretty easy to do (and still is) for old holders, people who mined their coins or got them before AML laws came into place. They still own coins that are not in any way connected with their real life identities.
1658  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good Morning from a Non-Bitcoiner on: October 01, 2020, 05:50:53 PM
If non-bitcoiners are starting to spread around pictures and memes about Bitcoin it's all good.

I'd be happy even if they were making jokes about it but this picture is pure positivity. Tell him he made your day!
1659  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to see if a new coin supports mining? on: September 30, 2020, 11:36:15 PM
If the coin is already on the market you can go to coinmarketcap and open the coin's page.

Right below the name on CMC you'll have it's rank, webiste, explorer, a link to documentation and a few tags. If the coin is mineable it's going to be written there and there along with the type of mining like pow, pos, or hybrid.
1660  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Anyone know a dice game that is actually fair? on: September 30, 2020, 11:28:51 PM
Every Casino promote their service to be provably fair. Every Casino too have their own procedure to check the fairness of the roll. Just on the coincidence people believe in it. No one is sure, to what extent this is fair. With the trusted gambling site, it is good to spend unlike the fair functioning.

That is correct every casino has its own definition of fairness and that is why they use the word probably fair as according to them they are fair to the gamblers. Playing on a trusted exchange only gives confidence in their fairness policy and nothing more.

Every casino will claim to be "probably fair", even if they are not. I only prefer to play gambling on the old trusted casinos because everyone is sure about their fairness. Many new casinos may also be fair but it will take time when majority of the gamblers will trust them.

Did you guys just change provably into probably and start talking about it like it's the casino's definition of fairness?  Grin I just had to ask even though I know what i'm reading. It's so funny.

Provably fair is not their definition or anything. It's simply a way of making the rolls random and visible to the player but encrypted so that the player cannot cheat.
The rolls are fair but people rarely are able to stop playing after a good one.

If you registered on a site and put $100 in a single roll and won would you walk away? You'd probably try to bet the 100 again because you'd knew that if you lose you're back to your starting money.
