1401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I just poked that GUY on: November 17, 2020, 05:24:39 PM
When I'm right I always like to shove it in my opponent's face. There's nothing more satisfying than the good old I told you! Cheesy

I have a friend who is always reluctant to buy. He has some money on the side and his trading strategy is like this:
-wait for Bitcoin to be in a strong uptrend.
-Buy
-wait for it to reach about 10% profit
-sell
-watch it go up more
-regret selling every day and tell friends how you made a mistake.

He's been at it for years and this year he again bought at 12 thousand and sold somewhere around 14. I've been telling him for at least 5 years to buy and hold.
1402  Other / Archival / Re: CitiBank & Report about Bitcoin: 21st Century Gold on: November 17, 2020, 05:02:31 PM
I'm a little scared.

If the price of bitcoin rises to $ 318,000, what will be the consequences?  It can be assumed that hackers will start hunting for coins (satoshi) of users of the Bitcointalk forum.  New computer viruses (worms and Trojans) will appear.  People will stop trusting each other.  The governments of the countries will pass laws on confiscation of cryptocurrency, as was the case before with gold.  The largest reallocation of capital in history will take place.

I would have preferred that the rise in bitcoin prices was not that fast.

Hackers are already trying to get your coins but they were trying in 2017 and 2018 too when Bitcoin was above 10 thousand dollars. Do you think that having 1 Bitcoin in 2019 when it was worth less than 10 thousand dollars made you safe from hackers? If they had a way to get your coins they would do it in an instant and take everything without regrets.

I'd be more worried about people around you knowing that your bitcoin is now worth 200 or 300 thousand dollars. For many people it's a life-changing fortune.

And wouldn't you know?  Bitcoin is above $16k as I write this.  Yowza!

$17740  Cool
1403  Economy / Economics / Re: Hoping that its the end of corona virus on: November 17, 2020, 04:47:34 PM
If vaccine is ready , then we can say that it could be the end of corona virus because we already have weapon to fight against it. But as long as vaccine is not ready and there is no tentative date if when it will become available in all countries, then we should still take care of ourselves and continue to follow the health protocol so that we can avoid to become affected of that virus.

If you need the vaccine to survive, how is it that you're not sick by now or dead? Before the vaccine goes to normal use and becomes available around the world many months will pass.

How are you going to survive until then if the vaccine is so dangerous and deadly. What if it is not? What if the vaccine is just another way for corporations and governments to make money out of something most people will never really need?

1404  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Grayscale keeps buying bitcoin. on: November 17, 2020, 04:19:06 PM
news about Bitcoin always comes at the end of this year, I hope with good news alone, like this,
if Fud comes somehow the fate of bitcoin prices at the end of the year,
even though people predict that Bitcoin at the end of the year could reach $ 18000.

Your goals are pretty low since the price is already 17400.

It only took a day for it to go up by $500 and we have more than 40 days left before the end of the year.

With how much money Greyscale and other institutions have allocated into Bitcoin, they're making a million dollars every week.
1405  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How about day trading Eth? on: November 16, 2020, 11:48:11 PM
i have much question for all of you, hope you or somoene who read this will give me some instruction, how much eth do you use for daily trade ? i want to try trade, but i just have low capital, and i still like worried cause i dont have enough knowledge is there a reference for me to learn ?. especially about mental psychology, maybe some book or anything else. Thank you

With low investment you're going to have low profit and exchange fees will reduce it even further.

Treat trading crypto like trading your time for money. If you earn $20 a day, how many hours were you trading to reach that? Would you be able to make this much without taking a risk?

If your trades bring profit but the profit is low it usually means your trades are too small. Just don't try to increase them through leverage because it makes trading much harder.
1406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Grayscale keeps buying bitcoin. on: November 16, 2020, 11:42:24 PM
We definitely not sure then what is their plan as they are very aggressive accumulating Bitcoin

Their plan is to make money. With them it's just that they are taking the high risk - high reward road. If you look from their perspective they took a small risk but it paid out so now they're going all in because with Bitcoin it's not like rolling the dice every time. The longer it remains unbroken the stronger it becomes.

In 2015 it was full of uncertainties and promoted but now it's finally beginning to be recognized as digital gold by the media.
1407  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PayPal Reaches 85% of Binance.US Volume on: November 16, 2020, 11:18:14 PM
There are better places than paypal to buy crypto but people still prefer to use paypal... Nobody cant be even sure that these btc are real

I can think of better places to find a date than Tinder, but people keep using Tinder.  Grin

I think the coins are real but much more vulnerable than if you bought them on Binance and moved to a software wallet.

It would be great if those bullish predictions by Citibank and others came close to reality but usually when mainstream media wake up and go bullish we're already half way into the bull and not that far from the top.
1408  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PayPals Bitcoin is a scam on: November 16, 2020, 11:07:50 PM
I somewhat agree and won't be using their service.

For us, bitcoiners with a little experience, there's no point buying coins that you can't move to your own wallet using PayPal, but this service is not for us and is not a scam.
It's made for PayPal users who don't have accounts on crypto exchanges yet and would never have.
Now they can get Bitcoins without doing any additional work and getting verified on some new platform.
1409  Economy / Economics / Re: Dow Jones could crash by up to 4000 points if Biden locks USA!!! on: November 16, 2020, 12:44:24 AM
There's a chance that Biden will announce a national lockdown in the US since he believes it to be the only solution to keep the pandemic under control but I don't think that the perfect solution due to the damage once was done by the total lockdown and not even this time that Pfizer vaccine was proved to be more than 90% effective

A lockdown is the worst thing he can do and far from being a solution for anything but maybe stopping migrations lol Cheesy

If he does it he's going to bankrupt businesses and it won't change anything for covid. The lockdown will have to be lifeted at some point and then whoever did not get covid in the first and second wave will finally get it. This is not something we can stop. We can delay it, that's all.
1410  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-10-13] BoE's Bailey sees little intrinsic value in Bitcoin on: November 15, 2020, 10:58:17 PM
Very nervous Cheesy that's funny. I bet he also gets nervous when GBP is down and XBT up.

Too much nerves will get you bald early, Andrew... oh, wait.  Grin

I'm pretty sure GBP is going to be less important than bitcoin for the world economy.
1411  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you fear the president of your country, one day, making Crypto illegal ? on: November 15, 2020, 10:50:42 PM
Well actually yes also if that day happened I was thinking of ways on how to bypass the system in order to access cryptocurrency again, I know that it would be dangerous for me and I can be in prison for that but I'm used to cryptocurrency and I don't think they can stop me from accessing it.

It's really easy as long as your banks offer international transfers.

You can move fiat money abroad and set up an account in another crypto friendly country like Estonia, Germany or Belarus. I also don't think the US will ever ban cryptocurrencies.

You can also send fiat to a foreign crypto exchange because your government can ban exchanges in your country but has no jurisdiction outside it.
1412  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HODL ₿itcoin for Life, not for Lifetime. on: November 15, 2020, 10:23:58 PM
HODLing is important and I love the term because it's so simple and meaningful at the same time.

We shouldn't keep doing it for lifetime as the purpose of every investment is to profit. A profit doesn't mean anything when you cannot use it to make your life better.

What are you going to do with your millions in bitcoin when you're 70 years old?
1413  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 4% return - compounded DAILY on: November 15, 2020, 10:14:05 PM
Is this a serious thing?  freebitco.in/ - scroll down 1/2 way of page.  EARN INTEREST ON YOUR DEPOSITS section.

Just curious, didnt see anyone mention, but 4% daily compounded interest is kind of exciting if it is legit.....any one any info?

If you get a return of 4% per day, will there also be a disadvantage? Nothing in the world is for free. There are always risks involved.

It's not per day. Yo have to read the post right below OP. It's all explained there.

4% per day is never legit. That would be 120% a month. Only ponzi schemes can offer that much. If it was legit nobody would be trading anymore as most traders barely make 10% a month. People who could earn 120% without lifting a finger would just put 0.1 bitcoin there and quit their day jobs. Grin
1414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buy Low, Sell High on: November 15, 2020, 09:58:51 PM
All I can say is that the circumstances are much more in the bulls favour so we might have an even bigger break-up. I mean:

1) Bitcoin is very scarce (supply is low)
2) People want to buy (demand is high)
3) People are greedy (they won't sell early)

Here you go. The perfect formula for an extended bull market. Wink

Correct.

The only thing that kept people away from it was the uncertainty of how countries will approach it. There were many conspiracy theories that this or that country will fight and ban it. Some politicians were negative like there was a congressman in the US who said it's money of the criminals and should be banned.

Once the rumors remained that and only that more people begun to trust Bitcoin and consider it a worthy investment.

Now there's little that can damage it.
1415  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-11-02]Facebook is banning the Bitcoin hashtag on: November 15, 2020, 09:33:36 PM
It's possible it was a mistake or someone's private opinion being projected on the content.

It's a big company and they have people responsible for compliance, political correctness and such.

Maybe this wasn't discussed on the highest level but a low level manager chose that this or that should be censored and when people reacted was forced to make it back the way it was?
1416  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin could destroy economy on: November 15, 2020, 09:14:40 PM
I believe it could play a part in the future of our economy also big corporate companies will change their business model, Even if BTC crashes it has nothing to do with the economy neither it may impact the countries economy. One thing they need to understand is BTC is a digital currency it's not a fait to worry about countries economy and don't make such stuffs as an agenda.
but I am sure that an altcoin can destroy the price of bitcoin because altcoins have a very large supply and there is no limit so that it will make the price potential to collapse but it is possible that the world economy will still remain stable because indeed bitcoin cannot have an important influence but still have to be vigilant if want to buy bitcoin.

Are you being sarcastic or is it your real opinion?

An idea that altcoins steal bitcoin's value and that if people continue to buy altcoins they will at some point push their value above Bitcoin is very naive.

In truth altcoins would have never existed without bitcoin and died if bitcoin were to die. Like do you think that if any country bans bitcoin it will not ban altcoins?
1417  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I made a cartoon movie revealing the secret of Bitcoin and Darknet on: November 15, 2020, 09:01:33 PM
So the whole time we were running the Bitcoin network that processes transactions for millions of people around the world we were also helping CIA to decypher UFO data?

If they only knew how much Bitcoin would be worth they'd simply buy mining software, power it up with their free power and free network somewhere at the Hoover Dam and have enough money for a moon base, ocean floor habitat or something  Grin
1418  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does China FUD matter anymore? on: November 15, 2020, 08:48:03 PM
China FUD is always metter due to the market specific. Everyone scare any FUD in the industry so much that any bad news from china could stop this run and cause big dump

Not really.

I remember Chiese FUD from 2015 and it was all about exchanges being shut down. First they were planning to ban Bitcoin then banned only exchanges, then there were rumors about mining bans and such.

These news mattered for 2 reasons.
1. There were still big exchanges in China and a lot of trading volume came from there. Not anymore.
2. People believed in the news because they thought it could be real but the more of it was disproved the less people reacted to the new ones.
1419  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - Reinforced by the pandemic on: November 15, 2020, 08:26:02 PM
Yes, I'm sure it acted as a reinforcement.

Investors always look for signs of strength or weakness on the market. A fall from 20 thousand to 6 thousand was a sign of weakness and we fell even lower to 3000.

A rebound back to 6000 was the first sign of strength followed by 10 thousand and then 14. Each of these made more investors join the rally.
1420  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cloud storage isn't safe place for your wallet keys on: November 14, 2020, 11:23:34 PM
Private keys should be keep like you would keep your bank details e.g credit debit cards, private keys are the keys to your cribs, if you can't keep them offline you are playing with fire, it's better to write down on paper instead on pasting in emails

Private keys should be even more secure. More like your password than your card details.

Knowing your card number a thief can make a transaction but this transaction will be small because most people have limits on their cards and would require a pin code for a larger transaction.

Knowing your private key they can drain your wallet to 0 without any pins or numbers.

Storing in the cloud is stupid.
