1881  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to make old people understand Bitcoin? on: August 16, 2020, 08:19:37 PM
it will be easier for you if they are familiar with technology. Otherwise it will difficult for you to educate them and quite impossible if they are uneducated.

Impossible is the right word. I know some old folks and they don't have a clue how anything in the house works. They don't even know how to set the time in electronic clocks. Anything with buttons is black magic to them.

If your folks are asking you what type of batteries they need for the TV remote you know it's a lost cause.
1882  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mike Novogratz and Dave Portnoy Say Buy Bitcoin and Not Gold on: August 16, 2020, 07:38:23 PM
"In a video posted on Portnoy’s Twitter feed, the twin brothers — who founded crypto exchange Gemini Trust — say Bitcoin has the potential to replace gold as a store of value. Their reasoning? They claim that Elon Musk has plans to mine gold from asteroids."

This was the part of that video where I was in awe. I frequently despise Reddit, but I've read FAR better bullish cases in there than this one. Probably even the "you can use bitcoin to buy drugs on the darknet markets" case is better than this one.

I hope the Winklevi were just meme-ing, but I definitely expected a lot more from them.

It's one of those buy Bitcoin because it's going to become the next Dollar when Dollar finally collapses.

Or another good one: store food under yor bed because one day the economy will collapse and you'll be starving.

Build a fallout shelter because you'll need a place to hide when they'll nuke the country.

Please!
1883  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Slots are better than Dice. on: August 16, 2020, 07:16:10 PM
Well we have different perspective about that but for me it's not that entertaining but if he is talking about real slot machine no one can beat that but in online casino I think dice is the most wanted by the most of the players.

Sometimes you feel bored playing the dice games and for a change it good to have slot games that we can play. I don't compare both of them because gambling games are very limited and its good we have slots games to play online also.

I've also wondered why dice became such a hit. Probably because it was the simplest and the first game based on chance that adopted blockchain technology.
So many people begun to play dice that it became a habit even when slots were more fun because of all the sounds and pictures.

Maybe it's because dice plays out faster and you can have more attempts in the same amount of time than with slots?
1884  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Regulations in online Gambling sites on: August 16, 2020, 07:02:53 PM
I am just curious does this regulated gambling platforms requires KYC? I am seeing two things here, If they will require KYC they will have fewer users since some users does not like KYC and prefer being anonymous, but if they don't implement KYC that 100 euro limit per account is useless because 1 user can create multiple accounts and bypass those limitations.

If they are levying these limitations, what will stop them from adding a 'KYC mandatory' tag under the hood? They simply cannot steal a gambler's rights and the reason is - it is the gambler's money and they have the right to spend or throw away their money wherever they want to. Why are they robbing a gambler's rights this way?

Private casinos can add any requirements they want but as it was said they will be reluctant to do so because more regulation means less clients. After all we all want to make money and avoid KYC.

Casinos want to add minimum requirements forced on them by the authorities so it's lika a game between a cat and a mouse.
1885  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Reminder: There Is No Such Thing As Easy Money on: August 16, 2020, 06:51:41 PM
Of course there is such a thing as easy money - you just start a central bank. If you can't do that, then get yourself elected as a member of the European parliament ( or the English House of Lords).

Or you can scam people - this is usually easy money for the scammer.

You can also be a used car salesman - easy money if you're a good liar.

You can be a politician because that's also easy money for the most part if you can stand being hated and getting hit by a tomato or an egg from time to time Cheesy
1886  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reasons Why am I adding as many Ethereum bags as possible? on: August 16, 2020, 06:46:31 PM
the project team cannot predict price movements. it all depends on market conditions. it is possible only if Vitalik will endlessly buy Ethereum with his own money, then this is possible

It's even better. The team who owns a lot of coins will always benefit from spreading rumors because it makes them money.

Many teams hire shills to post for them just like OP and tell people to buy their product because there's some secret talks going on with a new huge partner and when it's announced the price will go to the moon so buy now while it's cheap Wink

I don't think it's all rumors it's already a fact that Eth POS is coming there are a lot of updates on it already we cannot consider it a rumor anymore I consider the developer action to buy back his own token good for the project, it's a motivation to fast track the progress because the team needs to support the price because they have a stake on it, that is why there will always tokens allocated for the team, take them all out and the project has a possibility to fail.

We all know it's coming but I was referring to this part where OP said:
Quote
I have Friends from the ETH project team, they gave me a green signal to double my Ethereum investment as much as possible

This is nothing but spreading rumors, shilling and pumping. Buy now or it will be too late! In many countries you can be sued for doing so.
1887  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can Crypto be more valuable than gold? on: August 16, 2020, 06:09:43 PM
Obviously Crypto will be more valuable than gold in near future because it's already gained a huge popularity and price if we campare with it's beginning price.

Hope you caught my point.

I wouldn't be so sure about it. You can't say that it will or will not be because nobody can accurately predict these things.

We could say that people will become more intelligent as time goes by because the statistics would indicate that but we could also be wiped out by a pandemic and reduced back to the stone age.
1888  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: which is a good option?? Trade or Hodl on: August 16, 2020, 05:47:08 PM
For me it is and will be hodling. I used to trade and took a lesson from it. Trading is a game where you win and lose and as a trader you'll see you're only 60% right. This means that if you know what you're doing you will be making money in the end but you will also be losing some of your earned profits by making mistakes.

When you hodl an appreciating asset like bitcoin you don't have to work for it it just happens by itself. 5 years later you have more money without lifting a finger.
1889  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I have Good advice for investors on: August 16, 2020, 01:08:44 AM
The more risky you play the more likely you are to get scared or fomo.

Playing risky is playing with borrowed money or money that's too big for you and that you don't feel comfortable spending or playing with high leverage that you're unable to sustain for long.

Usually investors who put 1% of their money in crypto don't get scared too much because such losses are acceptable. Invest 50% and you'll be losing sleep every night.
1890  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If someone mistakenly sent you 1 ETH, what would you do? on: August 16, 2020, 12:45:49 AM
as long as he can still prove it's his, I'll give it back. To be honest, I would probably hold back and wait for the person to confirm that he is the owner of the Ethereum. if possible, I want to return it. however, donating it to a charity is the last resort if no one feels lost to ethereum in a few weeks or months. Well, I do this if it is really the wrong ethereum submission.

If all you had was his address how would you contact him and ask to prove that he's the owner?

If somebody sends you some coins from an address he is usually the owner. Tongue

I'd take myself some finder's fee like 20% and send the rest back. I think it would be fair for both sides.

1892  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: $10 000 to invest, but at which price to buy? on: August 15, 2020, 09:14:15 PM
If you planning in long term investment buy now. there no reading to set a poll.

Exactly! You can wait for a small dump if you want but you have to decide if you want it or not. If you do there will not be a better time.

So many people wasted their votes by choosing 1000 or 2000 dolars. You will never see these prices again! I'm 99.9% sure that we will never go below 3000 again. If you want to wait for a few years be my guest but it's not going to happen.
1893  Economy / Economics / Re: Some chinese guy bought most expensive face mask in the world $1.5 million. on: August 15, 2020, 09:04:54 PM

So, you like to put your hands in other people's pockets and tell them how they should live their lives.
Is there anything else we should know about your political views?

Bernard Madoff  was a democrat ... Trump republican ... corruption does not care about political affiliation ... etc etc

Socialist believe in equality ...if your rich how did you get the money can you prove that you made it 100% legit ?

Of course anybody can be a thief or an asshole but that doesn't change the fact that socialists are snooping in other people's pockets and instead of focusing on ways to make money they'd rather take money from someone else.

Yes they want equality and that's why they will never achieve anything because equality is unnatural.

If I'm rich, what's it to you how I made my money? Do all rich people have to explain themselves to you now?
1894  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Scam victims on: August 15, 2020, 08:46:14 PM
When you ask about authorities who deal with these types of crimes you need to contact cyber a police cyber crime division. They deal with online scams and should be able to help you. If the company that scammed you was registered and is still operating maybe there's a chance to get some money back. Many people were able to win court cases against scammers.
1895  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Proof of the ownership of BitCoins during a Divorce on: August 15, 2020, 05:41:58 PM
From what I know the court will accept all types of proof.

If your portfolio is something like this https://alttracker.herokuapp.com/portfolio/419 you can take a screenshot and provide a link to allow them to access the tracker.

You can even record a video of you opening the program and accessing your account.

If the evidence is admitted the value of cryptocurrencies will be added to your marital properties.
1896  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to make old people understand Bitcoin? on: August 15, 2020, 05:07:11 PM
We would have to apply to the values they understand. Old people don't care much about investments so they would have to see another benefit of using cryptocurrencies like maybe safety but for that to work Bitcoin would have to become much less volatile.

It's very hard to change a person who did the same thing for many years. Many of these old folks prefer to use cash over cards because even cards are hard for them to grasp. You won't make them interested in Bitcoin.
1897  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Goldman Sachs are eyeing to create their own digital asset! on: August 15, 2020, 04:56:25 PM
Facebook Libra was supposed to be something similar. Who uses Libra today? Nobody.

To me another bank launching its crypto is not an important piece of news.
AFAIK, Libra is yet to be launched by the facebook and the are facing regulation issues on most of the countries so another fiat based tokens will face the same issue if it is not going to be backed by particular fiat. And its is not really an important news because crypto investments may never consider these kind of tokens as worth to invest since its just a stable coin.

I thought the project was abandoned. They faced so much negative feedback from the government that there won't be any libra.

Zuck probably took it all personal again just like when he was roasted at that congress hearing.
1898  Economy / Economics / Re: Some chinese guy bought most expensive face mask in the world $1.5 million. on: August 15, 2020, 04:44:18 PM
I don't get why govs don't  put 99.9% income tax on this f...kers ...?

Are you a socialist? Who gives you the right to steal from people? Maybe he worked hard to get his first million and then money made money.

It's easy to make money when you already have a lot. Those who have 50 million dollars or more can make another million every year just by moving their money around while we poor people work hard to get 10 thousand a year but I wouldn't try to steal from them. Property is untouchable.

Yes i am a socialist !

That explains a lot.

So, you like to put your hands in other people's pockets and tell them how they should live their lives.
Is there anything else we should know about your political views?

If rich people are wasting their money, then someone will get benefited from that wasted money. If the stored it rather than wasting then that will be more harmful to the economy.
But, yes you can question their morality, that they can help directly to the poor people rather than spending it on expensive products.

Correct thinking. A money put in motion always helps someone. There's plenty of luxury goods being sold all over the world and there's no crying about a billionaire who bought a helicopter or an island but a stupid mask makes people angry.
1899  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will you do when Bitcoin reach$20k? on: August 15, 2020, 03:43:57 PM
I was in the market few years ago when bitcoin almost reached $20k. I wasn't acting then (hodling for few years already) and I think a lot about when I should act next.

I wonder what other people who hodl bitcoin for few years plan to do.

Do you have a price in mind than when bitcoin will reach it, only then you plan to sell?

I'm buying low and selling high so every price increase is a reason for celebration for me and if Bitcoin reach another all time high and reaches $20 k I'll have a small celebration because it's another milestone to celebrate an all time high that we all we are waiting for.

If you buy low and sell high will you buy or sell at 20 thousand? Will it be low or high?

The answer isn't as simple as most people think. When Bitcoin broke 1000 dollars for the second time that 1000 from being an all time high became the starting point of another bubble and years later we see that we've never even come close to going back there. So we can say that the ATH of 2013 became the no entry zone after the next halving and remained like that for another 3 years.
1900  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What if Tether (USDT) flips Ethereum (ETH)? on: August 15, 2020, 03:35:19 PM
Considering that most people "follow the money", they might invest more thoroughly in USDT than ETH itself. They don't care if it's centralized, as long as they're able to profit from it. I believe that the stablecoin craze will last for quite some time, until the demise of COVID-19. After that, USDT's position on the market might return to "pre-pandemic" levels. The fact that market cap tells nothing other than the value of all coins in circulation, should not leave us worrying about USDT replacing ETH anytime soon.

All in all, the rise of USDT's popularity in the mainstream world should be more beneficial than harmful for ETH in the long run. After all, Tether (USDT) runs on the ETH blockchain. For people to be able to send/receive USDT transaction on-chain, they're required to spend some "ETH" which serves as a fee for the smart contract to perform its operations. In case USDT goes down the drain, another centralized stablecoin will take its place on the market. Since most centralized stablecoins live on the ETH blockchain, the world's second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap has nothing to lose. Just my opinion Smiley

Well said. People like to take unneeded risk and I've seen plenty of it in the altcoin subforum where people are asking if they should invest their coins into upcoming altcoins just to catch a possible pump. They already have a volatile coin like ETH and are thinking of ways to increase the risk of holding it.

While I would never choose a centralized stablecoin over a coin that serves as its base I understand why these coins might be successful in the coming years.
