1561  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Exchanges are guilty of preventing Bitcoin mass adoption on: October 18, 2020, 04:55:16 PM
So OP thinks it's the exchanges that control the market and they own all the coins deposited by users and play around with them in a great ruse to buy all physical gold and stuff and then crash the price of bitcoin because they think it's worthless.

They build their multimillion dollar businesses on something they don't believe in and don't care about. It was all a big hoax Cheesy
1562  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SATOSHI !!! IS THIS LEGIT? on: October 18, 2020, 04:28:39 PM
I do not!
For me posting this thread is not a waste of time cuz after all, we all are here because of Satoshi.
The only reason I decided to post this thread, was because in Le Paul passport in his name was written Salotoshi and that's it.
As for this being an old rumor, I did not knew about it since I'm new in Bitcoin, found out about it not longer than 2-3 months ago...
However, I can not take the adivce of your for granted to not waste time, however I just found it interesting as I mentione

You can't even spell it right and start stupid threads based on your misreadings!
It's "Solotshi" not "Salotoshi" and there's a big difference between Solotshi and Satoshi.

What you are doing is taking words Happy and Hungry and saying that they have to mean the same thing because they look similar.

The article doesn't contain a single proof that there's a connection between this arrested gangster and the creator of bitcoin.
1563  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why FOMO isn't as bad as people make it seem. on: October 16, 2020, 11:46:08 PM
The simple rule is "buy at the bottom and sell at the top". But i don't think this applies to all coins, it only applies to solid coins like bitcoin, ethereum and the likes, because they have stood the test of time and would surely find their way back up. But most of these new coins, if you buy at the bottom, the price might still go lower and keep you trapped there. so it is better to wait and see a clear move up before you get on the train to avoid fake outs.

I don't see this post have anything to do with FOMO

Correct. The topic doesn't get followed by the post.

FOMO is always bad because it makes you forget what you were supposed to do. If you're uncertain or fearful don't trade!

Buy at the bottom sell at the top applies to every single tradable asset not only top cryptocurrencies! You don't know what you're talking about OP!
1564  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia blocks localbitcoins on: October 16, 2020, 11:33:57 PM

What will happen in practice - the budget will be plundered Smiley

They'll spend a lot of money to make a useless centralized cryptocurrency nobody will use just like Venezuela did.

I don't know what's going on in Russia but every year they come up with some new opinion about cryptocurrencies and their own crypto was supposed to be made like 2 years ago.
1565  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UK hospital launches rehab programme for bitcoin addiction on: October 16, 2020, 11:19:51 PM
Hahaha. I never noticed this topic.

What's the treatment for Bitcoin addiction? Forced-sniffing newly printed bills, while being repeatedly lectured with propaganda about why the Central Bank is the only true path to a "normal non-addicted life"?

According to their site it's not Bitcoin addiction but addiction to day trading.
https://castlecraig.co.uk/treatment/behavioral-addictions/bitcoin-addiction-treatment

I wouldn't want to be treated by someone who obviously doesn't know anything about Bitcoin.

Quote
Chris Burn, a gambling therapist at Castle Craig Hospital says, “the high risk, fluctuating cryptocurrency market appeals to the problem gambler. It provides excitement and an escape from reality. Bitcoin, for example, has been heavily traded and huge gains & losses were made. It’s a classic bubble situation.

They said it in 2018 and some poor guys went there and paid for a therapy that stopped them from buying in 2019 Grin
They literally paid to be stopped from making money on Bitcoin.
1566  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do mixing companies want stolen bitcoins? on: October 16, 2020, 10:48:39 PM
I'm just adding to the comparison made by pixie85. Doctors would gather information about the patient and make a report. Wounded patients who are likely criminals or offenders would be considered the same as tainted BTC. If mixers should offer their service as doctors do, they will be obliged to submit data too.
but that is a very weird comparison. a gunshot wound is the result of an obviously criminal act, specially in most of the world where owning a firearm is not allowed. so reporting it is justifiable and is a must. on the other hand coins that are being mixed are from people who want to increase their privacy and there i no obvious way of knowing whether said coins are coming from a criminal act or not.

Yo beat me to it, so I'll just say that I agree with the answer.

A doctor was one of the examples that came to my mind and was very general. We could say it's a currency exchange owner. He takes cash and exchanges it. Doesn't ask for your personal details, doesn't take a photo of you, doesn't check the bills for stains of blood or narcotics, doesn't ask you where you got it from.

Why are we all of a sudden demanding that a mixer does a checkup of the coins, denies service if he finds them suspicious or files a report to the authorities?
1567  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-10-08] Bitcoin Can't be Correlated to Traditional Assets on: October 16, 2020, 07:31:10 PM
Did anyone think that bitcoin is a traditional currency? It seems to me that BTC was positioned as something new from the very beginning.

It's new but it still plays by the same rules as the stocks.

People say it cannot be stopped but it can be significantlu slowed down by laws, see China, Russia, and many other countries.

It definitely follows the world investment trends. When stocks fall Bitcoin also falls. It can pump and fall on its own because it's a small ecosystem but it is influenced by the big world around it, and the most important part. It is bought for fiat currencies. When people want to get it they use banks to tranfer money. You influence fiat currencies you influence the price of Bitcoin.
1568  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A lesson, disadvantage of storing seed into the device. on: October 16, 2020, 07:10:02 PM
We all know the disadvantage of storing your wallet seed/private key into an online machine. Here is a lesson for us, Lost coins in the stupid way.

In the case from the link it was rather a matter of messing up with the private keys or mishandling them. It wouldn't really mattered if he had it on an offline or an online machine. If you delete the only backup you're usually in trouble.

I had my coins on my computer for many years without any problems. The important part is not messing with it if you don't have to. The more you send your coins between wallets and exchanges the greater are your chance of losing or exposing them. Just put them in one place, keep your pc clean and you'll be good.

You want to know who are the people who usually lose coins? The same people who try to invest in every single shitcoin, download a lot of new wallets for those shitcoins and enter all those suspicious sites like mlm, hyip, cloud mining, porn, bitcoin multiplyers, blockchain hacks, you name it.
1569  Economy / Economics / Re: Where the top world Elite Rich guys invest on: October 16, 2020, 06:42:09 PM
What question is basically wrong. There is not a a single place where they invest everything none will do that.

Where does the question suggest that they are investing in a single place?  Grin

Op is simply showing what stocks the rich are holding.

I'm pretty sure they have people working for them whose sole purpose is to be well informed and know what's going to happen around the world before everyone else.
1570  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-10-08] Admiral says Bitcoin and crypto threaten democracy in South America on: October 16, 2020, 06:28:56 PM
It will not be very seriously if they abide by America's side of democracy hehe. All countries' governments are similar to the countries that are not a democracy in this way.

The EU democracy really is different from the US model and they are both different from the fake democracy in Russia or Belarus.

How can these things be compared? I don't quite understand it.

What do you mean? How can Bitcoin threaten democracy? It's simple. The US democracy is viewed in terms of debt. They help other countries obtain it and send them the bill along with contracts for US corporations.
1571  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do not store your wallet on the exchange, store it on your crypto wallet. on: October 16, 2020, 06:09:56 PM
I feel like these warnings are becoming something like "don't cross the road when it's a red light ", everyone is giving the advice but at least once or twice a year when there is no car in sight everyone does it.

With the avalanche of newbies, people that associate exchanges with banks, with less educated investors the exact opposite is happening:
Five mega exchanges hold 10% of Bitcoin's entire supply

Nope, people are just too lazy or afraid of being responsible alone for their coins so they would rather trust an exchange than their own laptop or knowledge.
I don't like what's happening but I also don't believe in miracles, the percentage of people doing exactly the opposite will only grow in the near future.

I have a feeling at least 1/4 of the ones saying it's not right to keep coins in exchanges have some right now as they type stored on binance or another one.

Wise words. I have to come clean that although 90% of my money is in a hardware wallet I still held some ofit on exchanges ffor various reasons that included:
-trading
-laziness - I used my exchange address as my master campaign address and just kept it like that.
-laziness 2 - I had some altcoins and just did not had time to install wallets for them. Itw as easier to keep them on exchanges. I lost like $200 by doing it but when you're lazy you usually have to pay the price
-laziness 3 - I preferred the exchanges to formk my coins for me because I did not trust some wallet providers like when bsv had forked

guilty as charged Cheesy
1572  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Enpugh is enough time Truth about btc on: October 16, 2020, 06:01:55 PM
And what evidence do you have that the banks created Bitcoin? We have plenty of evidence to support Satoshi, i'd like to see some of yours just to be able to compare.

Did you get dropped on your head or something?

He fell out of his stroller a few times, doctors sad it was nothing serious Cheesy

1573  Economy / Economics / Re: I lost my job, how about you guys? on: October 16, 2020, 05:08:46 PM
Pandemic and caused lockdown are the main reasons why many people can't feed their family, the situation is worse than expected in small developing countries. The logistics business and airline companies have limited the schedules trips due to the frequently changing rules in many countries. Hope you and everyone around us will be able to recover from this loss and we will be back to a new normal life.
Yes but it does not mean they will stop to work because they lost thier job. Thier family will suffer,  go and find another job just to provide the needs of thier family.

It's never too late to start again. It's just a job, some people are losing their lives.

I'm still doing fine with my job so I can't really relate to OP but I know many people who lost a lot and never gave up. Life is full of surprises you never know what's in line for you. Many people became rich in their 60s after struggling for many years.
1574  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I'm very worried about my Crypto Trading. on: October 15, 2020, 11:11:15 PM
You don't need to be afraid if you invest in the top 5 coinmarketcap, you will not lose everything, investing in long-term crypto is recommended for beginners, my advice if you are holding an altcoin that is still running, you should sell and replace it with the top 5 coinmarketcap.

Please stop telling people such nonsense.

Market cap doesn't say anything about the coin's current and future performance!

XRP that is rank 4 on CMC is down about 90% from its ATH and also down a few % from the last month's price so you could buy it in 2018, 2019 or even last month and you'd still be at a loss.
1575  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: YouTube’s sleazy decline into scam promotion on: October 15, 2020, 10:50:41 PM
YouTube just like Google has this same problem of not filtering their ads and leaving it to the users to do their research on any ad that appears as they use the app or Google search/chrome for example.

They are lazy and incompetent because when it comes to property rights and even private disputes they're quick to give out strikes and delete channels. They also like to delete od block content they don't like like people talking about covid were having their videos deleted.

What about those youtube crypto channels that were under attack some months back?

Where's the freedom of speech?

This is a problem with centralization and decentralization. Centralization will lead to them doing what they want but decentralized platform have such limited content.
1576  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Promote constructive criticism when doing posts or replies, on: October 15, 2020, 10:41:37 PM
This forum is having different kind of individuals who can range from both extremes of helping them to clear everything to just make a troll of them and its their natural behaviour. I do support the constructive critisism idea and I always try to do in that way hope everyone can help others instead of just trolling them.

Sometimes you just can't do constructive criticism. If you want exapmples look for threads where some individuals defend Craig Wright. When you read their posts all you can do is respond with sacracsm or non-constructive criticism because nothing constructive is going to come out of saying that a liar is not a liar.

I say that both constructive and non-constructive criticism have their use and should not be avoided. It's important to know when to use each of them.
1577  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do mixing companies want stolen bitcoins? on: October 15, 2020, 10:27:09 PM
I treat BTC like I treat cash. I don't check my cash for traces of drugs, blood or semen so why should I care where my Bitcoins come from?

I think that mixers should offer their services to everyone just like doctors cure everyone. They don't discriminate between good and bad people they just do their job.

1578  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on recent move of 1000 coins mined back in 2010? on: October 14, 2020, 09:45:06 PM
Its becoming obvious that after 10+ years, virtual currencies just aren't going to take over the world.

10 years is nothing in the life of a currency. What's 10 years when you look back at what stock market giants have achieved. In its first 10 years Apple barely made 4x gains.

Long term hodlers have to sell at some point or what was the point of buying in the first place?

Moving coins doesn't mean selling them! I've moved my coins many without selling or giving them away for example when I bought a hardware walet.
1579  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: JPMorgan Chase bank backs Square's $50m Bitcoin investment on: October 14, 2020, 09:34:11 PM
JPMorgan Chase Bank has been surprisingly favorable to Bitcoin lately and from one of the biggest enemies, with CEO Jamie Dimon waging a war of words in previous years, now appears to have softened its stance.

His war was nothing but a PR stunt and a way to influence the price.

He saw that the market reacted to his early negative opinions with some strong bearish moves so he keept on tweeting and told his people to try to use those influencial tweets to make money.

He even admitted later that his daughter is trading bitcoin.

Who can blame him though, bitcoin is a beast. A honeybadger of the markets.
1580  Economy / Economics / Re: Show me shops where i can spend crypto ...crypto is useless... on: October 14, 2020, 09:20:05 PM
gifts are not taxable here ,if you trade btc there ,and i get fiat here as gift from you ,not my problem ...

But if you buy BTC and send it to somone that's taxable and that's your problem? A rather dumb and rare law if you ask me.

In most countries only your income is taxable not the action to buy or sell Bitcoin, because what if you sell at a loss? What if you just buy and sell at the same price because you made up your mind and decided not to get involved?

Mentioning your strange local laws when talking about usefulness of Bitcoin around the world is out of place. In the same way a Chinese citizen could say that Bitcoin is useless because he can't trade or take it to a store. The rest of the world will respond just like you did: not my problem.
