2281  Economy / Speculation / Re: Countertrading Jim Cramer on Bitcoin on: August 23, 2022, 05:28:09 PM
Yes you can easily counter trade all his ideas and come out ahead. Whenever he has some stock tip, it’s usually him entering way too late. I noticed that he buys near the top and sells near the bottom.

And no idea whether it’s deliberate or not but he has a very bad track record. Has since 2008 pretty much. No idea why people still watch him and why he is so popular.
2282  Economy / Speculation / Re: I've been confused in BTC on: August 23, 2022, 05:22:13 PM
Where have you been for the past few months. We peaked at $69k and had a low of $17K. You are complaining about a small pullback. Crypto is very risky. You can’t buy it with money you can’t lose. There is a chance it can even dip further.

Too many people are investing in crypto because they think they will get rich but that ship has sailed. You won’t get rich investing in Bitcoin anymore like people in 2009-2014. You might make 3x and that’s it.
2283  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum Outperforms Bitcoin Trading Operations on: August 23, 2022, 03:46:55 AM
The reason why is most likely due to the merge. And right now it’s summer and Bitcoin is pretty much trading sideways. So ETH volume doesn’t really mean much.

Many are buying ETH on spot and shorting on the futures, so basically 1 hedge equals to twice the volume. It will be this way until after it merges and the block is passed since people want the free ETH.
2284  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LUNC 1.2% burn per transaction = is this true or lies? on: August 23, 2022, 03:44:56 AM
Honestly I would just avoid anything related to Luna altogether. This pretty much is the reason why Bitcoin crashed down to $17K. It’s the reason so many loan providers and market makers went bankrupt. Many people are upset at this coin and I don’t see it having much of a future.

Sure it’s cheap however it’s past will always haunt most people and no large player will invest in it again.
2285  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will Ethereum price get to 4,000 in 2022 on: August 23, 2022, 03:41:42 AM
This is very difficult to answer because a lot of this depends on what will happen with the economy. If inflation has peaked, fed rates will ease or reduce, unemployment numbers will go up slightly then there is a possibility that ETH might hit ATH in 2023. Along with Bitcoin and stock markets.

However bond yields are starting to go up again and looks like stock market got a bounce and might head lower. Inflation most likely topped however since oil is down. However nobody knows exactly if the bottom was hit or not.
2286  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it advisable as a starter to engage in future trade? on: August 23, 2022, 03:37:48 AM
The only difference between future and margin trading is the leverage. The more leverage the more riskier for you to lose your entire account. With margin trading your leverage is much less and spot trading is basically 1:1.

So all in all you can lose all your money in all 3 different methods but the futures one you can just lose it faster if you use more leverage. So if you don’t know what you are doing you shouldn’t use any of the trading methods and just trade demo for now.
2287  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Pardon is this sounds stupid on: August 23, 2022, 03:31:59 AM
Nobody knows what the value of ETH POW will be. Currently on the futures it’s predicted to have a value of $40 per coin. Most likely ETH value won’t change by much. Unless there is some huge bug.

The value of BTC didn’t change at first when it split to BCH but it did a few months after. Then BCH shortly hit a value of 0.10 BCHBTC so it was fairly valueable at one point. No idea what will happen to ETH POW because there I already ETC out there.
2288  Economy / Speculation / Re: MY BITCOIN SPECULATIONS AND VIEWS on: August 22, 2022, 10:50:50 PM
Yes it does seem bearish. If you look on the weekly you can see that we got front run on the previous weekly support. Many were probably going to short there and missed the opportunity. Plus the stock market is also turning over.

Right now I think the market is waiting on CPI prints, unemployment numbers and fed rate decisions before it decides which way to go. Right now we will just chop around unless there is some black swan event. There is also the ETH merge and the mt gox coins being distributed sometime soon.
2289  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Started a 1k to 10k challenge in 20 days and it's going well! on: August 22, 2022, 08:21:03 PM
Generally the way it works is like this.

Someone starts some $1K to $10K challenge or so. They post everything live and not in hindsight. Sometimes they get lucky and usually make it to the end. Then they usually have some "If you want to see me turn $10K into $100K, join my paid group".

The way the scam works is that when they start with $1K its usually with demo money. Or if they live stream it, they usually have another account to hedge their trade. So even if they lost the $1K, they would make $1K on their hedge account (minus trading fees).

2290  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: September is already here on: August 22, 2022, 08:16:37 PM
Well from what I recall I don't think there are any AMD gpus which are 5GB. Nvidia however has a few GPUs which are 5GB however I don't think they are popular with miners. Most are holding the 8GB variants of those GPUs.

So since an ASIC has much higher hashrate than a single GPU, it explains the sudden drop we got in the last few days or so. Makes you question, how many ASICs are actually running behind the ETH blockchain. Given this drop it seems to substantial.
2291  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH diff bomb what can a miner do? on: August 22, 2022, 08:13:07 PM
Because I remember when ETH forked and ETC was born. The difficulty was extremely high for ETH when it forked. However unlike Bitcoins difficulty retarget, it didn't take that long for the difficulty to adjust and for the chain to survive and was at first only mined by a handful of miners. So the way they coded the difficulty retarget was so the network can still function if a huge portion of the hashrate is decreased.

So looking at https://etherscan.io/chart/blocktime
it seems that the block times are fairly close to the average even with the hashrate that is leaving the network.
2292  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Average crypto futures trader monthly salary is 9000$-30,000$ on: August 22, 2022, 04:17:31 AM
I'm just giving advice to newbies and all, I myself have traded in futures trading, indeed 1 day we can get $ 5 even $ 10,
as long as we know how to trade, but the profit and capital that I got a few days it just disappeared in the future,
Because of what? because it is greedy and indeed the market is very volatile, I am sure it will also happen to you if you are determined to trade in futures market

Making $5 or $10 a day is nothing like making $1000 or $10000. You cannot compare the two. Most people won’t be sweating when they are down $5 in a day while they would if they were down $1000. This is why you shouldn’t demo trade or trade small positions because it’s easy making money.

You just hold your trades longer and most likely the trade will work out. But when you got 4 or 5 figures on the line then the game completely changes. So this is why many lose money when they go from demo to live trading.
2293  Economy / Economics / Re: Anyone here from Germany? What exactly are your electricity costs? on: August 22, 2022, 04:14:14 AM
Couple of days ago Germans PPI was released and it was something like 5% but it wasn’t per year it was per month. So it seems these energy prices are having a huge toll.

I wonder what will happen with large auto companies like BMW and VW. How will they be able to sell vehicles if their PPI is so much higher. Most likely won’t be able to compete with other brands stationed elsewhere in the world.
2294  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: September is already here on: August 22, 2022, 04:00:27 AM
You sure that the recent drop of ETH hashrate into ETC has nothing to do with miners switching to ETC to abandon ETH chain but more of the fact that 5gb GPUs stopped mining recently due to the DAG just recently hitting 5GB.

There are many of these 5GB GPUs out there and they maybe are switching to ETC since they don’t have a choice. Because the profitability is much worse. Wouldn’t make sense any other way.
2295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Pardon is this sounds stupid on: August 22, 2022, 03:54:45 AM
The POW Ethereum that we mine today will stay with the current DAG. However if you want you can mine ETC right now which will work with your 4GB GPU. Unfortunately 3GB don’t work anymore on ETC since dag is exactly 3GB right now.

Nothing resets, it just like a fork in the road. On the left you get POS and no miners and on the right you continue the old chain like nothing happened.
2296  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH diff bomb what can a miner do? on: August 22, 2022, 03:51:04 AM
Isn’t the merge suppose to happen on a given block number. So if many miners move to ETC the difficulty readjusts fairly quickly and it’ll still be pretty close to sept 15.

The way the difficulty bomb works is that every block the difficulty is increased whether or not the hash power has increased. So even if people leave ETH the hashrate will go down and difficulty will readjust to maintain 15 sec block times and difficulty bomb will still cause a small increase. Unless I am making a mistake somewhere.
2297  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New coin for miners on: August 20, 2022, 03:20:37 AM
We can estimate the ASIC hashpower but it won’t be accurate. Reason why is because there is no guarantee that all the hash power will switch to ETC after the merge.

If the profitability is going to be extremely low, many ASICs will face doom as being another door stop pretty much. As much that hashpower will never switch.
2298  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can I trust people who claim to be mining cryptocurrency on their cellphone? on: August 20, 2022, 03:18:02 AM
There was a popular coin a while back which you could mine on your phone, electroniem or something like it. However it wasn’t really mining. Just pretended to mine and you got paid for it.

Most cell phone mining apps are scams to steal your private keys. If you find one in the google play store and it doesn’t have many reviews it’s most likely some malware.

2299  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is there a crypto I can mine on my laptop on: August 20, 2022, 03:16:10 AM
You can remove the battery and most laptops will run without a battery. They are not like phones which can only operate with a battery attached. So yes you can protect yourself from a fire just by removing the battery.

However cleaning the heatsink is not so easy. It usually requires the entire disassembly of the laptop which can be difficult for most. If you spray compressed air you will just push the dust further down. And using a vaccuum to suck up the dust won’t usually work as it doesn’t go down deep enough.
2300  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is there a crypto I can mine on my laptop on: August 19, 2022, 03:52:48 AM
Never a good idea to mine on a laptop. You don’t realize it but on a 9 year old laptop you can pretty much mine and the laptop can start a fire.

Laptops have bad ventilation unless they are gaming laptops. And after 9 years you got tons of dust inside your heatsink. If you mine constantly you will create lots of heat and most likely the battery can bulge and expand and explode. It’s not very wise to mine on a laptop.
