At least they have not answered to me, a best potential russian tester of their hardware...
2322  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S3 PSU question on: July 27, 2014, 10:18:32 PM
Can Seasonic SS-1250XM run 3 non overclocked S3 Antminers  without problems?
Sure it can. But even if you do not plan to overclock them - it would be better to connect all power connectors (use cable adaptors).
2323  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S3 PSU question on: July 27, 2014, 04:37:10 PM
Ok, is there any other good PSU to power 1 S3?
I believe there are several good PSUs, for example Zalman ZM600-GLX, SeaSonicSS-660XP2 (even better because of 4 PCI-E 6+2 connectors), Chieftec APS-650CB... You can give me a link to your preferable shops and I will help you to choose right PSU. Wink

Corsair VS650 is not good then as it has 2 8PINs on 1 cable?
Well, IMHO not the best solution, but why not? At least if you plan to power only one S3 with this PSU and if there is no other PSU available... See the mutex's message above. )
Thanks Rabinovitch,
- you are welcome!

i understand. What is the best and the cheapest choice for the S3 ?
Which PSU should i buy ?
Please provide me with link to your lovely shop where you suggest to buy it. )

Common recomendations can be as follows:
1) One 12V bus (if possible);
2) 2 PCI-E 6(+2) pins power connectors (4 if possible - we NEED to overclock such kind of hardware...);
3) 450 W and above (I don't know exactly power consumption of overclocked S3; PSU power should not be more than 600-650 Wt for only one S3);
4) 80 plus certificate (higher is better...).

Always strive to connect power cables to all 4 S3's connectors.

Hey guys...Please, hook up all your 4 PCI-E connectors... Wink

You never know what the PCB designer had in mind...but there is a REASON for these 4 connectors...like traces current(s), parallel (redundant) supply...etc...

Can i use a Thermaltake Hamburg 530 Watt PSU for an Antminer S3 ?
Yep. Without overclocking (since this PSU has only 2 PCI-E 6+2 pin connectors). But if you obtain two molex-to-PCI-E(6 or 6+2 pins) adaptor, you'll be able to overclock your S3 too. But do not expect too much overclocking, 'cause this PCU can provide maximum 456W power at 12V line.
2325  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: standard hardware vs asic - what do you use for mining? on: July 27, 2014, 10:00:21 AM
SCRYPT-N/X11 - more ASIC resistant, still being mined with GPU's but in the end may become ASIC-ified if there is enough momentum/value in it.
By the way it is rumored that manufacturers already has a samples of X11 ASICs since May. On trader from Russla told it.

We would be glad to get reviews from someone with engineering skills. Please PM us with your previous work you've done, we will discuss the conditions
So, I am an engineer in telecommunications. I was working in Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd with GSM BSS equipment deploying and troubleshooting BSS in West Siberian region for 4+ years, then I was a chief of department, then I have downshifted to service engineer's position and worked with industrial printers and applicators, then... then... Now I am almost Tele2's employee and back at engineer's position working with Ericsson RNC managing UMTS network in Novosibirsk. Former Linux amateur explorer...  Roll Eyes

I have just sent an e-mail to you. Maybe I'll get lucky in this...

Which one of these PSU(800 to 850 W) will you buy?
If I were you I would like to buy this one:
http://www.pccomponentes.com/corsair_ax860_860w_80_plus_platinum.html
Second in line would be this:
http://www.pccomponentes.com/corsair_rm850_850w_80_plus_gold_modular.html

Server PSU is definetely OK, but if something will go wrong or if you get bored of mining seems that it will be easier to sell out a PC PSU rather than server PSU... Grin

My chips are OK now, but what does it mean (the same board, top in this list) when the board's temperature value change it's colour from black to this under-red colour? I saw it at temperature value 52, 55 degrees, without any "x".

I got my S3 today and got it setup and mining away, but i noticed something wierd in the summery page and dont know if this is a problem or not so i wanted to ask.

Accepted   Rejected   HW   Utility      Discarded
4,228        85             5       24         38,145

This is a printout from my summery page and im not sure what the discarded is and why its so high. any explanation would be graetful to a new miner.
Today setup process of my S2 showed that you better change the mining pool.
Things are looking very interesting - the same pool can be suitable using one internet provider, and discard a lot of shares with just another provider... Latest Kano's firmware made mining on triplemining pool impossible due to big enough amount of rejected/discarded shares, but now S2 is mining on it normally just using another provider...

and then used advanced ip scanner to find out what ip address has been allocated.
A well-developed router should be able to display a list of connected clients with their IPs to you.
2332  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain AntMiner S2 Setup [HD] on: July 25, 2014, 02:42:10 PM
That error message suggests you're tying in your current password wrong.
Well, I suggest that my current password in miner's web interface is nothing but root. Anyway, I have tried both passwords - root and admin, just to be on the safe side...

Kano ?
Kano, works on the cgminer team.
Edit: here's his github page for the S2: https://github.com/kanoi/cgminer-binaries/tree/master/AntS2
I have upgraded my miner with latest Kano's firmware (because of specially compiled CGminer there).

Maybe someone knows why my network and pool settings resetting to default every time I reboot my S2? Is there any file(s) in which I can configure my personal settings by hands (since the system does not save settings automatically)?
2335  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Mining bandwith on: July 25, 2014, 08:58:01 AM
Yep. Judging by Winbox application (a tool for control and configure MikroTik routers), it's about very few kbps...

I've met this problem too. Who's got a solution?
2337  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain AntMiner S2 Setup [HD] on: July 25, 2014, 08:33:58 AM

- How do I change the login password?
- Navigate to System -> Administration. Enter the current password and enter your new one twice.
Doesn't work on my S2. It returns a message in red letters "Invalid password" and doesn't change it. Whatever I try, even "123"-"123" as my new password.

I would like to replace two front fans with Noctua NF-A14 PWM, and original chinese fans will be spare fans... They are too hot at their center after rotating for a while at 2400-2500 rpm, has anyone tried to grease them?
What would you say about Noctua fans? Is it good idea?
