And you can power a 3-4 pin fan directly from your PSU using special adaptor.
1582  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Antminer s5 sell !! on: June 05, 2015, 08:03:20 AM
Where have you been 2 weeks ago?.. May be I would like to try my luck buying S5s from you in spite that nobody can trust to a forum member with 1 message...

Please someone make a build for Win7 x64, I'll check it on R9 290 GPU and report the results.

Let the minng begins!  Grin

p.s. how can I tell Sia to communicate with Internet via proxy server? How to cancel an announcement of my dedicated space for Sia network?
1585  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: a freestyle review by Rabinovitch on: June 04, 2015, 02:18:33 AM
My new S5s has arrived yesterday.

Shipping was very quick (the order has been paid at May 23rd, shipped at May 25th). It looks that the packages are not being packed well enough as before:

But S5s seems to be brand new units with v1.91 blades:

So now I can really stick the radiators on that copper plates.  Smiley But it looks that this is not necessary, take a look at the temps:

Both units has the noname fans that differs in details from each other and my first S5's fan. I put into work only one unit untill now and I have to say that it's fan is much, much quieter then I expected. I can hear it from another side of the house though.  Smiley

Now Bitmain invented new way to connect to the miners - using the button on it's I/O board and IPReporter sowtware (since the miners use DHCP by default). But I was not able to discover brand new unit because only my old S5 was reporting it's IP address constantly to this sowtare. In spite that it has no special button for IP address reporting. So the only way for me was the list of DHCP leases of my router...

You better try here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=160.0

Or make your own water cooling kit.  Wink

Come on, this is the first time I met this problem with Monero. I hope it will not be repeated...
1589  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency - 0.8.8.6 on: June 02, 2015, 01:38:41 AM
Dear GingerAle! It's Win7 x64, you are right.

Before today bitmonerod+simplewallet were starting OK. After a long period I decided to run it again and here is the issue I described above.

Nothing has changed it my starting .bat also:

Code:
@echo off

tasklist /FI "IMAGENAME eq bitmonerod.exe" 2>NUL | find /I /N "bitmonerod.exe">NUL
if not %ERRORLEVEL% == 0 (
  echo Starting node...
  start bitmonerod.exe --data-dir E:\ProgramData\bitmonero\
) else (
  echo Node already started.
)

tasklist /FI "IMAGENAME eq simplewallet.exe" 2>NUL | find /I /N "simplewallet.exe">NUL
if not %ERRORLEVEL% == 0 (
  if exist wallet.bin.keys (
    echo Starting previous wallet...
    start simplewallet.exe --wallet wallet.bin
  ) else (
    echo Starting new wallet...
    start simplewallet.exe --generate-new-wallet wallet.bin
  )
) else (
  echo Wallet already started.
)

pause

When I try to run bitmonerod as Administrator the error is the same as before:

I guess I should delete the monero blockchain and try to re-sync. And it seems that it works.

kazuki49, no, I decided to support the Monero network by keeping the monero core opened.  Wink

So the command prompt windows closing after these last error messages.

What is your advice for such case?
1591  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Heat Sink 8.8mm x 8.8mm x 5.0mm location on S5 on: June 01, 2015, 06:28:05 PM
miguportugal, why don't you order a heatsink with longer fins? Not 5, but 15-18 mm?
1592  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S2 Discussion and Support Thread on: June 01, 2015, 11:27:01 AM
Edit: if you (or anyone) wants me to add more settings there in the base firmware, just let me know and I'll add them in so next release has the extra settings.
You need to tell me the settings you want i.e. as above "40:196:5f06"
The numbers are "timeout:frequency:regdata"

Thank you for your work on S2s!  Wink

Many times we have discussed here on the forum the results of S2s overcklocking. Personally I would like you to add my maximum stable result of OCing. It was:

    option 'freq_value'     '5102'  #219M
    option 'chip_freq'      '218.75'
    option 'timeout'        '38'

Probably values for 225 MHz could be OK too since I have 1200 Wt Corsair PSU inside my S2. But I'm not sure about exact values for this frequency.

Probably all mindtrip's values can be included too: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=629997.msg7012357#msg7012357
1593  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Heat Sink 8.8mm x 8.8mm x 5.0mm location on S5 on: June 01, 2015, 09:21:05 AM
You better try Arctic Silver Thermal adhesive before.
1594  Local / Майнеры / Re: Antminer задержаны таможней - нужно разрешение Фi on: May 31, 2015, 02:56:41 PM
Мои два тоже, судя по детализации трекинга, таможню уже миновали. Тьфу-тьфу-тьфу, чтоб не сглазить.  Cheesy
1595  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Quieter fan for the S5 that puts out the CFMs? on: May 29, 2015, 07:43:25 PM
The stock fan has furious CFM value, so the static pressure is not so important in this case I guess.  Grin

You can always compare which 120x120 mm fan with 12V power is more preferable in the sense of noise, CFM and static pressure values at http://delta-fan.com/Wink
1596  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S5 + 3D printied mods on: May 29, 2015, 02:35:12 PM
The more air blows strictly in direction from one fan to another - the more cooling efficiency, I guess. So if one fan pushes, and another pulls, then why should it lead to less efficient cooling?
1597  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Quieter fan for the S5 that puts out the CFMs? on: May 29, 2015, 02:32:10 PM
At least you should choose 120 mm section! But also keep in mind an airflow value, 120 CFM and higher is what you should seek for.
1598  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Quieter fan for the S5 that puts out the CFMs? on: May 29, 2015, 12:55:22 PM
What do you all run for aftermarket fans on your Antminer S5s? Why did you choose this fan? Do you run the same fan front and back?

Denis

I use Gembird DC120SF-12AS3 (120x120x38 mm, 3000 rpm, 124.74 CFM). I chose it because of price and availability.  Cheesy Two of such fans cooling S5 perfectly for several months, and I can live in one house with S5.  Grin
1599  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S5 + 3D printied mods on: May 29, 2015, 12:51:16 PM
Don't you think that at the top you can (and maybe should) use the same duct as at the bottom? In that case the top fan will make additional vacuum for airflow through little radiators from back side of the blades to be more directed.
1600  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Overclocking antminer S5 on: May 29, 2015, 03:49:20 AM
Well, here are my OC results. I am too lasy to arrange the data into some nice table.

Quote
P.S. after all that I made some additional measurements at miner's side (I started to measure HWE with M's Ant Monitor a bit later, after measurements for frequency values 356.25 and 375), about 1 hour and more for each frequency value:

Frequency 350 (default) - 1157+ Gh/s, 0.0001% HWE (1 HW per hour), 616 Wt
Frequency 356.25 - 1160+ Gh/s, 616 Wt
Frequency 362.5 - 1200+ Gh/s, 0.0004% HWE, 626 Wt
Frequency 368.75 - 1200+ Gh/s, 0.0004% HWE, 639 Wt
Frequency 375 - 1220+ Gh/s, 647 Wt
Frequency 381.25 - 1250+ Gh/s, 0.0045 HWE, 657 Wt
Frequency 387.5 - 1270 Gh/s, 0.0093 HWE, 665 Wt
Frequency 393.75 - 1270+ Gh/s, 0.0156 HWE, 677 Wt (upd: 1288 Gh at PMpool.net, diff 4096)
Frequency 400 - 1300 Gh/s, 0.0258 HWE, 687 Wt

At frequency 400 and with PSU Corsair RM1000 80+ Gold power consumption at the wall is about 666 Wt (peak value), hashing speed is 1301 Gh/s (after 11+ hours of running), and HWE is 0.013%.

It's from my review.
