2321  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bangladesh going to accept Cryptocurrency??? on: December 06, 2020, 12:07:09 PM
Is Bangladesh really important country to talk about it? I even dont know there Bangladesh is

They have a population of around 200 million, but that is it. The economy is smaller in size when compared to countries such as Denmark and Finland. But at this point, it will be suicidal to ignore any of the world nations, no matter how insignificant they seems. In the South Asia region, most of the governments have taken a hostile stance against Bitcoin. If Bangladesh goes the other way, then it is going to be huge.

Incredible win by India. Hardik Pandya once again made the difference, after a good knock by Shikhar Dhawan. The Australian pacers looked clueless, especially Daniel Sams and Andrew Tye. The spinners were impressive (both Swepson and Zampa), but the pacers couldn't support them. The only disappointment for India would be the repeated failure from Sanju Samson.
2323  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: December 04, 2020, 10:40:36 AM
Way India got a start and kept on losing quick wickets and at one-point 92/5 in 14 overs considering this the recovery has being phenomenal. This would give bowlers some respite that they are defending good score. India would need to pick couple of quick wickets in the start which will put OZ under pressure, and this would slow their innings a bit.

OZ got a quick start with 24/0 in 2.3 overs.

It was Jadeja who came to the rescue once again. Among the top-5 batsmen, only KL Rahul managed a score above 25. It was Jadeja and Pandya, who took India to a respectable score. Sanju Samson once again wasted a good opportunity, especially after getting a good start. Now his fans should not complain too much, if he is dropped once more.
2324  Economy / Economics / Re: Taxless society idea on: December 04, 2020, 06:41:36 AM
Throughout its historical development, mankind has repeatedly tried to establish a more just model of building social governance.  Many rebellious masses of people and their organizers tried to establish a more just society without taxes and means of coercion.  All of them were able to exist for a very short time.  The current structure of society is the result of thousands of years of accumulated experience.  To finance public needs, able-bodied citizens must contribute in taxes.  There is no other way yet.

The government can't function without taxes. If direct taxes are not there, then indirect taxes are required. Only a very few countries have managed to phase out taxes completely. Examples are oil rich countries such as United Arab Emirates, and island nations such as Bermuda and Bahamas. But these countries have other sources of income, and therefore tax revenue is not necessary.
2325  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: December 04, 2020, 06:05:04 AM
There are some challenges but BCCI seems determine to add more teams. I am optimistic that all stakeholders including franchise/ Broadcasters would come on same page, if not for 2021 season then may 2022 IPL season.

India has about 35ish domestic teams and if they can't find players then its shame IMHO. Even if players are average then i believe IPL exposure could help youngsters greatly.

Domestic cricket in India doesn't have the same standard as the county cricket in England, or the Sheffield Shied of Australia. One of the reasons is that national players seldom takes part in these tournaments. IMO, every major metropolitan city in India should have their own IPL team. Right now large geographies are not represented, such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Northeast.etc. Adding more teams would help in getting additional fanbase from these regions.
2326  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: December 04, 2020, 04:37:58 AM
Bio-bubble in UAE was 100% effective thankfully and we got to enjoy a ton of entertaining matches in the midst of this pandemic.

It was never easy to manage so many players and supporting staff. But to their credit, the BCCI managed it extremely well. Not a single player tested positive for COVID 19. On the other hand, the Pakistan team is touring New Zealand currently, and several positive cases came up in their camp. The New Zealand government even warned the Pakistanis that they would be deported if the quarantine norms are not strictly followed.
2327  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: December 04, 2020, 04:18:14 AM
After a disappointing ODI series where Australia completely dominated in the first two matches the T20 starts today, India has a good team who performed really well in the IPL and i would like to see Sanju Samson getting an opportunity and i wished to see him playing the ODI but he did not get the opportunity. Expecting a run fest just like the ODI and i expect the team batting first will have the advantage.

India is definitely a better team as far as T20 is concerned and their players have the experience in playing in IPL. But let's not forget the fact that most of the Australian players are also part of the IPL. I am not expecting any whitewash with the T20 series. It is going to be much more competitive when compared to the ODI series, and I would even say that India is having the advantage.
2328  Economy / Economics / Re: Visa is getting more interested in Crypto on: December 03, 2020, 05:13:06 PM
Now I'm in doubt about something. I saw yesterday Paypal and Visa retreated their partnership with facebook's Libra (Diem) due to politicians and regulators pressure, but now I see the same two giants are adopting bitcoin? Huh
Without any doubts the interest for crypto currency is huge, however I see some inconsistencies between the news.

It is actually very simple. Libra project is different from Bitcoin. Bitcoin was an original innovation, created by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2008 and first mined in 2009. On the other hand, Libra plagiarized around 95% of the idea (as well as the code) from Bitcoin and tried to dish out their own version of the cryptocurrency. It is similar to what the Chinese used to do two decades earlier. They purchased a couple of Su-33 fighter jets from Russia and then plagiarized it's design to create their own jet (J-15). To their credit, the Chinese exported far more pieces of J-15, than the Russians could ever do with their Su-33. Facebook wanted to do the same, with their Libra shitcoin.
2329  Economy / Economics / Re: More Banks maybe Closed and cryptocurrency exchangers are new way of banking on: December 03, 2020, 04:53:27 PM
Banks are still important in the world, we cannot just say that it is better to close because there are some cryptocurrency exchanges. Banks are used for traditional transactions and we all know that cryptocurrency is not that ready to use instead of using banks because cryptocurrency still needs to be innovated and become recognized by all countries as well. We can say that there are still countries that are prohibiting the usage of cryptocurrency and that is not good for everyone if they try to close the banks. Also, the knowledge about cryptocurrency is not known by all people, so it is hard to do a quick change.

It is retarded to say that cryptocurrency exchanges will replace banks. We need banks to deal with currency. Bitcoin on the other hand, is an investment asset and not a currency. You can compare cryptocurrency exchanges with stock markets, but not with banks. Banks are an integral part of the modern economic and financial system, and they will survive as long as humanity exists on this planet.
2330  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: December 03, 2020, 01:18:05 PM
It's a good decision for everyone. I felt this years IPL ended too soon. It actually did but I as a fan would love many more matches. With other forms of cricket losing their viewership, IPL could possibly be extended to 3 to 4 months. With many teams, there would be many players involved with much more exposure for indian youths. With everything to normal, IPL would go to more cities, more viewership and more fans. More fans brings more commercials. It's a win win for everyone.

Franchise cricket is the future. Within the next 4-5 years, I expect international matches to decline to a bare minimum and leagues such as IPL, BBL and CPL to take their slot. It doesn't make any sense to spend time on boring bilateral series, when we can have 6-team, 8-team or even 10-team franchise tournaments involving hundreds of players at the same time.

Look at football. Leagues such as the EPL are much more important than international "friendlies".
2331  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: December 03, 2020, 01:09:11 PM
Reducing weight for an athlete is not going to be a tough task and Rohit done well in IPL as well so we can see him back in action real soon, injuries are more concerned compared to weight gains by players so BCCI wants to keep the prime players as 100% fit for the important tournament and series.

Injuries were expected after such a tight IPL schedule. Most of the players were playing more than a dozen matches each. Although we can claim that T20 is a less demanding format, playing so many matches in a row might have exhausted most of them. And these players didn't had any match practice for almost 6 months and they were suddenly thrown in to the glitz of IPL.
2332  Economy / Economics / Re: Economy after COVID-19 on: December 02, 2020, 01:23:35 PM
Right now the pandemic is not showing any signs of a slowdown. Especially in regions such as the United States and the European Union, the number of new infections are rising. First the pandemic needs to be contained. Only after that, we can plan about any sort of economic recovery. Trends are looking bad, as the winter season is peaking in the northern hemisphere.

It will be reduced after the distribution of the vaccine, and it's going to happen on the second of the year, once the first wave of distribution of vaccine occur the percentage could drop to 50% we will build a herd immunity right away even if only 20% of the world's population is vaccinated, there is a study that vaccination could last for two years until everybody is vaccinated.

UK will be starting their mass vaccination program for priority population from next week onwards. I guess other developed nations such as the United States may also follow suit. The first batches of the vaccines are already booked by the developed nations and hopefully they will be able to vaccinate most of the priority population (medical professionals, elderly.etc) within the next 2-3 months.

By mid-2021, we can expect COVID 19 to get contained in most of the developed nations.
2333  Economy / Economics / Re: After 1 year of Covid 19 Virus on: December 02, 2020, 01:09:07 PM
There is a long way to go before the vaccine has reached enough people to make a difference, probably 6-12 months in the most easily-reached populations and longer for those that aren't easily vaccinated.  On top of that, we don't know yet if the vaccine will give us lasting immunity or if populations will continue to be vulnerable to variations of the virus like the flu every year where despite vaccines, mutations in the flu virus still infect millions of people every year.  Bottom line is we're not close to returning to normal life like pre-covid.

Today the authorities in the United Kingdom announced that they will start the mass vaccination program from next week onward. The richer countries have already made their pre-order for the vaccines and within a short period they will be able to secure enough doses to vaccinate their priority populations. Most of the developing nations are yet to make such orders. They will continue to suffer from increasing number of new infections and deaths.
2334  Economy / Economics / Re: Venezuela Planning New 100,000-Bolivar Bills Worth Just $0.23 on: December 02, 2020, 12:59:58 PM
A few days back there was this news from Venezuela that the army is involved in Bitcoin mining.

https://news.bitcoin.com/venezuela-army-mining-bitcoin-for-unblockable-income/

I don't know how successful their efforts will be, as Venezuela is not producing any mining equipment currently. They need to import their mining rigs from foreign nations such as China and South Korea (which again is going to be difficult, as sanctions and embargoes are in place). I assume that they have surplus electricity which can be directed to these mining farms, but even then capital costs can be very significant.
2335  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins price pump influence bitcoin price Negatively ? on: December 02, 2020, 11:40:31 AM
Most of the altcoin trade volumes comes from trading between altcoin-bitcoin pair. Only a minority comes from trading with fiat currencies. Under such circumstances, it is natural that an increasing market share of altcoins may negatively impact the Bitcoin market cap. However, during the current rally, Bitcoin has remained strong, with more than 62% market share (back in 2017, during the rally it was less than 40%).
2336  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: December 02, 2020, 11:31:53 AM
India won the match by 13 runs. The credit should go to Pandya and Jadeja. They scored a lot of runs during the final overs, to get India to 300 plus. When the 5th wicket fell, no one would have imagined that India would end up with a total of more than 250-260. Also, credit goes to Natarajan, for picking up two important wickets in his debut for the national team.
2337  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: December 02, 2020, 10:16:53 AM
Australia needs another 120 runs in 15 overs, at 8 runs per over. It is still achievable for them, but they have lost 5 wickets by now. Alex Carey and Glenn Maxwell are like the last recognized patting pair out there and if one of them gets out then the tail will start with Ashton Agar. But both these batsmen are gamechangers and India needs a wicket very soon.
2338  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This source reports that Chinese govt has sold bitcoins from Plustoken scam on: December 02, 2020, 10:08:51 AM
I believe China is left scratching their heads on why the had to go through all the trouble selling those coins. The whole cryptocurrency market is on a path of price discovery for another ATH. They are missing a golden opportunity. The move was not very Chinese of them. Cool

Do you really expect the Chinese authorities to make investment in Bitcoin and the other cryptocurrencies? At that time, they treated the stash as proceeding from crime and similar to other non-cash assets the authorities followed the regular procedure and converted it to fiat currency. This is the same procedure which is followed by the other countries as well, to deal with "proceeds from crime".
2339  Economy / Speculation / Re: Nearly $ 100 million worth of Bitcoin stolen from the 2016 Bitfinex hack has jus on: December 02, 2020, 09:54:52 AM

If you had a skill to hack $2.3B you'd definitely found the way how to launder it. So many ways to do it: deep net, mixers, scam exchanges, OTC private deals, multiple wallets etc. I think they will be ok if don't make some stupid mistake which is possible too.

How on Earth does one even begin to launder $2.3 billion. They will have to have like 100 corrupt politicians in their back pocket. Really, you need government cooperation to launder that kind of money. And they probably can never travel outside the country where they cash out.

I have to disagree with you. Laundering this many coins is actually harder than stealing them. Hacking an exchange can be done in a few steps, if the insiders are involved. However, moving this money and then converting them to fiat can be quite complicated. Staying anonymous during this step is next to impossible. The least risky strategy is to move the coins from one crypto wallet to another a few times and then mixing them. The conversion to fiat should be done after many years, after making sure that the trail can't be traced back. In many cases, the hackers don't have the patience for all this and ends up revealing their true identity.
2340  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-11-25]Is This The Real Reason Bitcoin Has Suddenly Soared Toward Its All-T on: December 02, 2020, 09:43:48 AM
I think by "2017 rally" they, Forbes, mean a shorter period of time, starting mid September 2017. That's when Bitcoin really jumped big, from $3,600 to $19,000 three months later. And the current rally has started in the end of September 2020, with BTC at around $11k, and if it is indeed a more more sustainable one, we can expect Bitcoin going over $60k in 2-3 months from now.

I don't know whether we will have similar bull run or not, but we can expect it to last at least 3 months. The demand is looking robust right now and if the additional supply is completely removed from the market then $60K or even $100K may be possible within 2021. The current rally is supported by solid fundamentals, so it is very much probable.
