1321  Economy / Economics / Re: Nigerian Banks To Close Accounts Involved with Crypto on: April 23, 2021, 05:23:58 AM
This was a major challenge Nigeria's Crypto community faced which forced crypto traders to revert to the old way of buying and selling commonly known as "Peer to Peer (P2P)".

Several popular exchanges have implemented the P2P feature on their exchange. A typical example is Quidax which launched it's P2P platform weeks back.

Details can be found here : https://blog.quidax.com/make-way-p2p-is-live-on-quidax/

The problem with P2P is that you will be flooded with scammers, at least during the initial phases. When I was trading in Localbitcoins during my earlier days, I faced a lot of issues due to this. It takes a few months for a vendor to build up a good feedback score and earn a good reputation. During this time, a lot of people are going to get conned by the scammers. And the fact that cryptocurrency is in a grey area in Nigeria will make matters more complicated.
1322  Economy / Economics / Re: Janet Yellen to call for unified global corporate tax rate on: April 23, 2021, 05:05:29 AM
Theses companies (Amazon, Google, Facebook, etc.) are already banned from China, so that wouldn't change much for them. There is Apple, but they can afford to pay the tax.

Google and Facebook are banned in China, as the local competitors (Baidu and WeChat) have a complete monopoly. As far as I know, Amazon isn't blocked in China, but they geo-restricts users from that country. So here you are right. But China remains one of the largest markets for Apple (and one of the fastest growing markets as well). And it won't be fair to ask Apple to pay taxes in US, for their revenues in China. And let's not forget that most of the components for the manufacturing of iPhone, iPad.etc comes from the Chinese manufacturing units.
1323  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Participants Only] [IPL 2021] Prediction pool and discussion on: April 23, 2021, 04:42:00 AM
It feels like Samson's international career never going to kick in. After his first ton in the first game he again went into his shell and struggling with the consistency drama. It pains me to see such a talented batsman to struggle again n again. Poor guy need serious soul searching if he want to make name for himself in the cricketing world.

Samson is highly inconsistent. Although his fans would disagree with me, I think he has got enough chances at least when compared to someone like Devdutt Padikkal or Ishan Kishan. Now there is too much competition for the slot of wicketkeeper batsman and Samson has so far wasted whatever opportunity that was given to him. A lot will depend on how he performs during the remainder of the IPL.
1324  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: April 22, 2021, 12:59:19 PM
So guys, what are the predictions for Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Rajasthan Royals? One of them is in exceptional form, and currently is placed at no.2 in the points table. While the other is also placed at no.2, but from the bottom. Everything has clicked for the RCB, but for RR the individual performances hasn't translated in to points. I have gone with RCB for today's match, as RR seems to be unable to make up for the absence of Archer and Stokes.
1325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen if Satoshi moves or sells his Bitcoin? on: April 22, 2021, 12:00:30 PM
If some of Satoshi's estimated BTC980,000 coins show any sort of movement, then we can expect a bloodbath in the market. Despite the multi-billion USD daily trade volumes, I don't think that the market has enough liquidity to deal with an additional inflow of more than BTC10,000 in one day. As we have seen during the past few weeks, whenever a whale dumps a few thousand coins, the prices remain suppressed for many days. What that is the case, you can imagine how the market will react to the possibility of close to a million coins being dumped.
1326  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-04-21] Governments can stop Bitcoin by shutting down mining, says Electric on: April 22, 2021, 11:13:06 AM
They are wrong. There are more than 250 countries and autonomous territories in the world and there is zero chance that all of them would crackdown on Bitcoin mining simultaneously. OK.. let's take the unlikely scenario of that happening. But that doesn't mean that all of the miners would just shut down their shop and quit. There will be some who would continue mining cryptocurrency, albeit anonymously. I don't think that the governments have the resources to track down and prosecute small scale miners.
1327  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Transactions Fee Are More Expensive Than Ever on: April 22, 2021, 10:45:30 AM
As mentioned in one of the previous posts, the mining difficulty gets adjusted in every two weeks. Right now, a huge backlog is created because on average 3 or 4 blocks are being mined per hour instead of the average 6. Once the mining difficulty gets adjusted, the number of blocks mined per hour will once again increase to 6 per hour and hopefully most of this backlog will be cleared. But it will take some time, because the Mempool size stands at 265.4 MB right now.
1328  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk please stop messing up the crypto market on: April 22, 2021, 10:32:11 AM
You mean Elon Musk converting into John McAfee, that shilled in his twitter every project that pays. I think that Elon will never become that person, as his brain is not damaged (perhaps yet) by drugs like Johns Smiley
Elon is simply different. Maybe this is due to having way more money then others. Or I would say that Elon Musk is more troll than a shiller.

McAfee's brain was not damaged. He promoted all those scams, because he earned big $$$ from them. Once he stated that he charges $105,000 for a single tweet to promote a cryptocurrency project. Now this is something that intelligent criminals would do. You don't expect that from a brain damaged person. The estimate by SEC is that McAfee made $23 million in total, but I think that the real amount may be much higher.
1329  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Participants Only] [IPL 2021] Prediction pool and discussion on: April 22, 2021, 10:16:53 AM
The biggest problem with KKR is that majority of their players(Batsmen and Bowlers) are very inconsistent so far this season. For example, Russell took 5-15 in one match and gave away over 40-45 runs in another.

Also, Russell scored 54 from 22 against CSK, but he scored at a low strike rate in the previous matches. Other examples include Karthik, Gill, Cummins etc.

Agreed. None of the players listed above have performed in a consistent manner. Russell was supposed to be their star performer, but apart from his 5-wicket haul, he was out of form in the previous matches. In particular I am concerned about Dinesh Karthik. He has only made 72 runs from 4 matches. During the last season also, he didn't scored too many runs. I would add Eoin Morgan to the list as well. So far he has scored 45 runs from 4 matches.
1330  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: April 22, 2021, 10:01:21 AM
^^^ Their scoring rate seems to have accelerated after Liton Das came to bat. They have crossed 450, and may be looking to add another 100-150 runs. That would mean that the declaration won't come before the end of the day's play (because only 31 overs are remaining). If they continue with the current rate, then they will end up at 550-560. Ideally, they should be looking at 600 plus. All that said, quite an impressive performance from Bangladesh considering the fact that star players such as Shakib and Mustafizur are not part of the team due to IPL commitments.
1331  Economy / Economics / Re: Could Bitcoin Smash Socialism in Venezuela? on: April 22, 2021, 07:46:28 AM
They need a proper and inspiring leader, not just a proper organization of the economy. On the other hand, they have to balance the country's income instead of focusing only on oil. Because of this fact, the country was vulnerable and they cant withstand the crisis when oil price droped sharply

IMO, they need both. Hugo Chavez was so successful because his budget was boosted by high crude oil prices. It allowed him to start generous welfare schemes and large infrastructural projects. And when Maduro became the president, the crude oil prices dropped and he could not continue with these same schemes. I really doubt whether Chavez would have been successful, had the oil prices crashed during his term.
1332  Economy / Economics / Re: Bangladesh Bank will not leave any digital currency in the market on: April 22, 2021, 07:29:38 AM
I don't where you're from but we have the same government, it seems that most laws only have a maximum effectiveness of 3 months in my country and then it will fade in obscurity. I do agree, if people get desperate, they have to do whatever it takes to get those money.

I am from India, and even here millions of individuals are dependent on cryptocurrency for their major source of revenue, or passive income. A few months back the government proposed a blanket ban on cryptocurrency, but they were forced to put the proposal on hold due to massive outcry from the users. I just hope that in Bangladesh also the government will come to their senses and will deal with cryptocurrency in a more productive and mutually beneficial manner.
1333  Economy / Economics / Re: Venezuela Planning New 100,000-Bolivar Bills Worth Just $0.23 on: April 22, 2021, 06:53:41 AM
^^^^ I agree with the previous posts, but why do Venezuela needs to import basic commodities such as sugar? Why can't they produce all this within their country? I have heard that Brazil is one of the top producers of sugar, so I guess the climatic conditions in Venezuela will also be favorable for sugar production. I just took one example, but I would like to know the reason why Venezuela imports most of the commodities from abroad.
1334  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: April 22, 2021, 06:20:05 AM
Last ball dropped by Nitish Rana, which went for six turned out to be little expensive in the end. Things could have gone differently if last over target was even 14-15 runs. KKR's lower order is filled with genuine tailenders, you can imagine when Kamlesh Nagarkoti comes at 9 and then followed by others but yeah running between the wicket is the area they should work on.

Yes.. that was a relatively simple catch. Rana dropped it, and it cost KKR 6 runs. If that catch was not dropped, then the target would have been 14 from the last over (13 for a tie). Also, the team coordination was very poor among the KKR batsmen. Both Varun Chakravarthy and Prasidh Krishna knew that they need to give strike to Cummins. But they were very slow and complacent while running. KKR should blame themselves for the loss.
1335  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: April 22, 2021, 06:09:43 AM
I don't know what the Bangladesh batsmen are thinking. So far in this session, they have scored just 45 runs in 18 overs (which amounts to just 2.5 runs per over). They have 8 wickets in hand, and I would have expected them to score quickly and declare before the start if third session. Seems like the Bangladesh captain would like to bat for entire day today. For Sri Lanka, no quick wickets in the opening session. The morale seems to be very low.
1336  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Participants Only] [IPL 2021] Prediction pool and discussion on: April 22, 2021, 05:52:11 AM
CSK vs KKR game turned out to be very entertaining for everyone. I was thinking that KKR might just give up after losing 5 quick wickets and mayhem created by beautiful boy Deepak Chahar. KKR's middle order really fired up and made things interesting for their supporters. I knew Patty can bat but didn't expect him to go bonkers like that, there are surely some positive from KKR's perspective. Middle order is back in form, now if Morgan and top order also kicks in then this team would be really tough to beat.

It was not just Cummins, Russel also made some big hits (he made 54 from just 22 balls, which included 6 sixes). Ironically these two players went for a lot of runs when they were bowling, so it was like a sweet revenge for them. Cummins went for 58 from his 4 (his most expensive spell in T20?) and Russell went for 27 of his two overs. It was a bloodbath for the bowlers. From the CSK side, Sam Curran went for 58 from his 4, and Shardul went for 48 from three.
1337  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: April 21, 2021, 04:51:12 PM
At the end of the first day, Bangladesh collected 302 runs and they lost 2 wickets. I think if the Bangladesh team can start the next day well, they will be able to collect more than 500 runs. Mushfiq, Liton and Miraz are all very good batsmen. I think they will be able to play the whole next day and declare the innings after collecting 550+ runs.

If they bat sensibly, then it may be possible to add another 250 runs in 60 overs. So they can declare by tea, and then have 30 overs to bowl tomorrow. But given the inconsistent nature of the Bangladesh team, I would restrain from giving any overly optimistic scenarios. Ideally they should reach 500-550 before the declaration tomorrow. The Lankan bowlers looks demoralized.. but still they can come back in to the game if they are able to take a few quick wickets tomorrow.
1338  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Participants Only] [IPL 2021] Prediction pool and discussion on: April 21, 2021, 04:10:36 PM
SRH annihilated Punjab registering their first win which surprised me to be honest. I expected SRH to win comfortably, but I didn't expect a thrashing win. Punjab seems to be going downhill once again this season.~

I am not at all surprised by the poor form from Punjab. They are overdependent on a few players for both batting (KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal) and bowling (Mohammed Shami). The remaining players are not very experienced and it was evident today. The problem is that whenever the top order fails, there is no one in the middle order, who has the capability to build a partnership and get them to a decent total. Nicholas Pooran was in such terrific form during last season, but so far he has failed to score runs this year. He had 3 ducks from 4 innings.
1339  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: April 21, 2021, 03:57:24 PM
CSK vs KKR is live now, and really we are seeing the real CSK attacking approach after few years and Ruturaj also joins into the batting form with first fifty of this season.

At the end of 13 overs 121/1.

CSK has got a great start to this season, when compared to the disaster they had last time during the initial phases. Suresh Raina's inclusion made a huge difference this time. Also, some of the younger players are performing really well. And the replacement of Kedar Jadhav by Moeen Ali has worked as well. Right now the only player who has yet to reach his peak form within the CSK lineup seems to be Shardul Thakur.
1340  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Transaction Fee on: April 21, 2021, 01:58:58 PM
It is already 3 days past that I withdraw some Bitcoin from Electrum wallet, I pay $3 for it but until now still at 0 confirmation.
And if we check on https://mempool.space/ you'll get surprised that the fees are so high and $3 are very far to be prioritized by the miners. That seems so hopeless to think.

LOL... I guess $3 would be far down the queue.. Because even the low priority transaction is at $12.51 (according to the website that you have quoted). And from what I can see, the Mempool size for transactions >120 Sat/Byte is 8.1 MB. For >100 Sat/Byte, it is close to 20 MB. If your fee is lower than this, then the chances of getting a confirmation by today or tomorrow is close to zero. If it is that much urgent, then you can try accelerating your transaction. But be ready to dish out another $50 or so for this service.
