You are crazy!
You made 60 posts in an hour by maintaining post quality... However, it is proven that you are able to make 100 posts an hour if you don't care about the quality.
Experiment Succeeded IMO. I think you might be right. There were some instances where I was removing the spaces from quotes (habit) to save space even though it consumed extra time. If I ever do this again (99% chance I definitely will not) I'll have to train myself out of those 'good habits'. Additionally, I kept using large words that would slow down my progress. If you look through the archives you'll see what I'm talking about. (Should have kept going "the bitcoin and the price are rising but we cannot do the functional prediction because volatility and variability")

Holy fucking shit. I don't ever want to do that again. What an absolute nightmare, I tell you.
Yeah, 100 posts was way too ambitious. But this data will be great for analysis!

There's surely not just one option here. Can't the admins shut down these sorts of campaigns? Surely they can't be allowed to just spam everything everywhere??? Isn't this something the forum staff should be dealing with and prohibiting it it's such a big issue??? There are certain people who have even more of a laissez-faire attitude than me. Maybe you running it is the lesser of two evils but you would obviously be very biased here because I'm assuming there's money on the line for you and youre not going to be running it for free. Objectively better for the forum. Though this is not cemented yet as he has not received an offer. Before we talking about whether Yobit should recruit a manager, the bigger problem are their signature rules. I doubt one manager can properly manage hundreds participant who make up to 20 posts / day. If they add/change minimum earned merit in last n days, lower payment rate, lower maximum post / day, limit participant or combination of them, then it'd be manageable by one manager. Obviously, it's better to see a human manager than automated system. I'm sure that the amount of participants will be limited, either through a hard cap on the number directly or via the selection process indirectly.

For me, I isolate the manager vs. the campaign. I believe if you are able to target the spam and thoroughly manage the campaign properly, there should not be an issue. I know that you have been able to handle large numbers of participants in multiple concurrent campaigns at once and have the ability to manage one like this.
However, the issue that stands is that YoBit has orchestrated pump & dump events that they have publicized via emails. Moreover, they (in my opinion) are pretty shady, never mind the numerous complaints that have popped up: not exclusively scam reports but support ticket nonsense as well.
It's a tricky scenario in that we do want a manager to handle the campaign for spam. However, at the same time, you are managing the campaign for a company that is doing this kind of shady work.
It's kind of like picking the lesser of two evils. In my opinion, what's best for the forum is a manager working for YoBit.
This way, we avoid a wave of spam and we have some control over the participants. The only negative that we have is the association with the exchange but the alternative is letting them have free reign over the campaign (and potentially creating the wave thereof). I believe that a management of the campaign by yahoo (or any campaign manager, for that matter) would be in everyone's best interests.

The goal is >100 within the hour. I think it's possible.
I highly doubt that it's doable without some the pre-existing text to play with, notice that you need to a post every 36 seconds and that is more than enough to actually just post but the hard part will be finding WHERE to post. I'm going to time the writing of an example. The goal is improbable but that's why I set it there. An easy goal means a lack of pressure.
(25 second timer so that I can ensure enough time to find a thread, quickly read the title and last post and formulate a response in my mind) I'll be using this as an example thread: Buy every dip!Reply is below:
It's obvious that the idea of buying every dip makes sense. But the reality is that we don't exactly know when that "dip" hits. I think it's inane to tell people to "buy low sell high" when they can't predict the markets.
(came right off the top of my head by recalling all the general nonsense that's written) So okay, maybe one post per minute for three-liners (spammers typically choose this) using newlines for padding will work better. Regardless, it'll make for an interesting experiment.

I do not think 100 post in a hour is also too much for a shitposter too.You need a bot for this Assuming I average 110 wpm == 550 cpm, I can probably make at least one post per minute.
Just did a few to practice. Should be good enough to hit at least 60 posts/hour. At current YoBit rates, assuming Sr. Member accounts only, that would be 0.0072 BTC == $38/hr. That grows to $64/hr with Legendary accounts. If we assume that the account farmers only have Sr. Member accounts (they require 3 per hour) then you would need 24 for an 8-hour work day. (give or take an hour)
Good luck with the testing, it'll be fairly rapid to fake the "constructive" replies - just expand, expand, expand.. Especially useful threads for that are the "who is your bitcoin heir" type threads Ah, yes. The ever-so-frequent post-padding that spammers decide to insert into their posts to obfuscate the very fact that they are just rambling with the same nonsensical bullshit that is ingrained into their mind after countless hours of frequenting the forum and posting the same vapid and generic replies to posts which that quote thereof and will do the same routine of agree and expand or rephrase in a different way, without adding any extra content. See how easy it is? That took less than a minute to type, I believe.

So you are saying if I wear Yobit signature, it will automatically make me spammer? Sorry but I beg to differ. You know that's not what I'm implying. Stop trying to wring a debate out when there isn't one. YoBit induces spamming != YoBit campaign members are spammers.
Knowing Yobit, and they way they operate their exchange, i really don't feel as if they deserve much of a chance. [...] Any exchange involved in the shady act of market manipulation via pump & dumps (knowingly advertising thereof) is absolutely out of the question. I forgot about this, actually.
As I said before I just really hope this campaign doesn't affect posts and their contents to the point that you have to actually look for a good quality post among countless spams and shitposts. It will. I'm sorry.
This is why signture campaigns shouldn't be announced out of this forum. I mentioned this long time ago, that there must be a strict set of rules about running campaigns for both managers and participants. At least, participants spreadsheet should be publicly displayed. Where's the enforceability, though? How do you isolate signature campaigners from people who have regular/personal signatures? How do you tackle members that state, "I'm not getting paid for this."

As a side note, someone could potentially create many useful posts in a short period of time (although maybe not 100 posts in an hour), if you have sufficient knowledge of bitcoin related subjects. The metric is really to form a kind of idea on how many posts I can make under the context of "barely-passable" or "sufficient" post quality. If you take a look at a large portion of signatured posts, you'll understand what I'm talking about.
You needn't reserve a post for this.. You seem to do this a couple times: make an OP and make a post reply right after (so essentially a double post). I don't care - but note some people might thing you're doing only it for the signature payout too. I don't think I've done it too often recently: maybe twice outside of this thread. Doesn't really matter to me what others may perceive as "posting for money". Those that know me should know (to some degree) that I don't just mindlessly post to hit the cap every week. I also trust in DS's ability to not tick a single line "Reserved" post as qualified.
This is not going to do very much. A manager does not need to be "not banned" to do their job as a manager, and they could potentially do their job in its entirety off the forum without even disclosing their account. Which is exactly what's happening here: something that I've feared. High-count low-effort campaigns that induce spam, hosted off-forum.

I think the only board that is in danger was in the Bitcoin Discussion and Altcoin Discussion board the rest are just fine Spam haven boards include (but are not limited to): Bitcoin Discussion Mining speculation (not as much) Technical Support (not as much) Economics -> Speculation Marketplace -> Gambling ->-> Gambling discussion ->-> Investor-based games ("ponzi alert" spam) -> Lending ("you need collateral" spam) -> Service Announcements ->-> Micro Earnings -> Service Discussion Trading Discussion Meta (certain threads) Politics & Society (certain threads) Beginners & Help Off-topic Any altcoin board

Analysis
59 posts in 60 minutes. Not bad! If the YoBit campaign continues without any qualms regarding member post quality (mine were 'decent', not good) then these would be the rates for 3 members of the ranks: Bitcoin Price: $5300Sr. Member: 0.00708 BTC == $37.53 / hr Hero Member: 0.00944 BTC == $50.03 / hr Legendary: 0.01180 BTC == $62.54 / hr Certainly lucrative, especially if your cost of living is low. With more accounts, you can extend your work day. Let's consider a limit of 3, though. Using only 7 hours of their time every week: Sr. Members make: $262/w | $1050/mo | $13696/yr Hero Members make: $350/w | $1400/mo | $18261/yr Legendaries make: $437/w | $1751/mo | $22827/yr I've seen account rings span far more than "just" 3 accounts. This is why people farm accounts.Zero effort. Very little time. Huge profits.

I type fairly quickly. I maneuver around the forum quickly. If I were a shitposter, how much could I post? Probably a lot. I'm doing an experiment to test this very theory. Supposing I had multiple accounts and switching between them was as seamless as going to another board (since I won't be using alts) I could garner a large amount of signature earnings from campaigns that didn't care (too much).
The reason that shitposting is so lucrative is because of the profit. And to really get a sense of what these account farmers are doing, I wanted to see exactly how profitable it could be. For science! I hate spamming and therefore I will delete my posts as soon as I can (after archiving the posts for further research) but at 12 AM UTC *, 4/21/2019, I will start my one hour of "quickposts". (I'll try to "look" constructive like many spammers do by picking random bits of knowledge here and there, but in a way where I can pump out as many posts as possible.) The goal is >100 within the hour. I think it's possible.
This is inspired by the new YoBit campaign which will bring forth a wave of spam. Only Moses can save us now. *estimated time
EDIT: This is obviously very empirical and only applies to a shitposter that possesses the same traits as I do.

I don't mean about instinctly shitposters whom mostly never change their posting habit, but you know what? There are real users, whom simply don't familiar with the forum, posting shit in their first days in the forum. For those kind of users, whom have good progressive attitude to change, like me, such neutral tags might help them to realise their faults, and they will change. My neutral tag, years ago. This user is a garbage shitposter who writes redundant posts in shitty English. You might have changed, but others do not. I can count the number of users of which I have seen change their ways (ponzi supporter, red-trust users, or shitposters) on one hand. That's about as blunt as I can make it. You speak from an ideal perspective. This world is not ideal. For every user like you, there are thousands more that will refuse to change their ways. Why? Because it's easier. Because it's more profitable. This is (in a sense) an example of survivor bias.
|
|
|
Leaving neutral tag on shit posters as early warning for them is good. Shit posters sooner or later will fall into burst posting or plagiarising, so if DT members tag them with neutral trust, and leave a warning mesage for them; they will keep their shit works. Eventually, someday, if they get punishments by plagiarism or something stupid, they won't have chance to blame on anyone else. Maybe, it is one of the way old users help newbies in the forum. I used to tag spammers. Back in January of last year. That took a horrendous amount of time and I didn't even crack 1% of the total spammers on-forum. The neutral tag will be even less impactful and still take an equal amount of time that could be used to (instead) report posts.

I don't think there's a public list of participants, and I don't want to manually search for them. If you have a list of names or userIDs, I'll get you a list of their full Merit data. Perhaps scrape from your list of users that have mentioned YoBit and check for "YoBit" in their signature class? <div class="signature"> when in the user profile, or <div class="signature{profileID}"> (without curlies) in posts. It won't be a conclusive list but it'll be a good start.

I believe there is some function in Google Sheets (either an = function or a tool itself) that can isolate duplicates in the same column. This should be an easy check for most managers.

Dropping this in lieu of a sale thread. Will attempt bingo with some Bitcoin Penny coppers soon!

How did they compare to Stake.com? Stake >>>>>> YoBit by far. Not sure how secondstrade fits on the metric however the latter two produce the most spam mostly due to their apparent limitless cap on members and disregard for post quality. You cannot expect every member to be able to post up to 20 posts per day without it impacting their post quality. If the upper limit means that you compromise quality then you should lower it, duh. Side note we could happily send packages of Oregano back and forth while making others jelly. Gladly. I hear a certain someone is also producing some herbs as well

Hey, I used to love being in the Yobit signature campaign! You and I both, but that was a time I would rather not remember. BTW actmyname, can you pass me some of what you're smoking? Sorry, US customs apparently doesn't like oregano crossing their borders but they're OK with charging $600 per pack of insulin.

www.fbi.com good thing they aren't a government agency or anything and might use the extension .gov Ah, don't you know the US government started outsourcing the FBI and has now gone corporate. Cheaper that way: more money can be dedicated to financing their military.
I'm waiting to see threads that provide concrete evidence right-away rather than saying they have some thereof. It helps no one and can be used as a blanket statement so it devalues the impact of those that actually have something (or think they do)

Congratulations to the winners. (Forgot about this thread, oops!) Too bad CoolWave has to get so mad that they'll try to roll into this thread for no reason other than to insult LC.
