silverstone st1500 required for 4 x 6870x2 card? 1500w
Each one of these cards requires a minimum 600w PSU according to the mfg site's product page. Four of these cards, incidentally, would require much more than a 1500w PSU - at least 2400w, and you definitely want some room to be comfortable for the purposes of stability and overvolting, so four of these dual-gpu cards would require multiple PSUs. you gotta be kidding me. you go by manufacture recommendation? they ALWAYS overestimate. so far, i believe no graphics card goes over the 300w TPD limit (6990 exception), and they need to stay within this maximum because they won't be able to dissipate more heat in a double slot design (at reasonable noise levels). getting a 2400w PSU for 4 of these just makes me laugh...

interesting concept. it would increase mobility, but still will require all necessary cables and it might limit the cooling, especially for non-reference designs that exhaust heat in all directions. this type of casing will trap a lot of that heat in

anyone else noticed that the past few days, there is a noticeable reduction in the rewards payment? my hashrate use to be around 6.2gh/s, now it dropped to about 5.3gh/s. i understand that the hashing power calculated by this pool is sometimes not accurate, but this is a drop of nearly 1gh/s, which is pretty significant. and also, the "24 hour luck" stats has been in the negatives for the past week. i use to get around 3-4 BTC per day, now i'm down to around 1.3 to 2 BTC per day.
what's up with this noticeable drop? did anything happen to server or were there any updates to the pool's mining algorithms?

It might be cheaper to buy a broken 5000 series GPU of Ebay (with a compatible fan); I'd check it out at least.
i don't think that's a really good option. there are some broken 5850s on ebay for $50, but that's rather expensive for just a fan. just getting a new aftermarket cooler for ~$35 might be better, but that's still pretty pricey for a simple fan that should be ~$5

here is the before and after screenshot of the cancellation. if i did sell it, then the available USD should increase. if i cancelled it, then the available BTC should increase. however, neither increased, only thing happened was reserved BTC when to zero. i downloaded the history, and this cancellation doesn't even exist in there. edit: NM, everything resolved

ya i thought it was instant too... wtf. i took a screenshot of it before the cancellation. of course, i didn't know this was going to happen, so after i saw it disappear, i clicked the "back" button on my browser a few times and took the screenshot.

this card looks like it's in between having high density setups vs more mh/s per dollar. you can get around the same hashing speed with 2x 5830 for only around $250, although it would require more hardware space. this is not nearly as bad as the 6990 though.

i put in 2 different sell orders a long time ago asking for $15/BTC and $16/BTC, and now with the current rates, that won't be reached for a while so i decided to cancel both the orders. the total sell order in the "reserves" was 6 BTC before i canceled, and after i canceled it, that BTC just disappeared. the "reserves" changed to zero, while the "available" BTC didn't increase at all. where did these 6 BTC go? maybe i'm just impatient, and if i am, then how long until i get back my cancelled BTC? i was just under the assumption cancelling BTC was instant, but i waited over an hour already.

try sending an email to sapphire to see if they can sell just the fan. and if they won't, the ask them if they're able to point you to their supplier

What cpu cooler is that? Looks sick
small request, can you please edit out your post to take out the quotes? quoting all the pictures like this to just reply with a small phrase takes up forum space, especially when i already posted all of that right on top of your post and to answer your question, it's a rosewill or dynatron 1U low profile cooler, designed for servers. this thing sounds like a jet engine... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835200058http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835114085It seems a Bufo viridis, so you would probably live in Europe, most probably North-East Europe would you mind editing out the pic as well? and actually you're waaay off lol. i'm located in the US, southern california to be exact

problems i ran into:1) stock CPU cooler is too tall. i originally used a socket 775 board with the stock cooler to do all my measurements, and the height i cut the rack into was a perfect fit. however, i didn't realize that a stock s1366 cooler was considerably taller. The pci-e extension cables didn't have enough clearance because the cooler blocks it. 2) the bar that holds up the rear end of the GPUs were about 6 millimeters short because the little PCB "hook" towards the end of the pci-e pins of the video card, got in the way of this bar. here you can see how the video card's pci-e pins are very close to the cooler, and this is not enough room to plug in the extension cables. these cables take up a few centimeters of space below the video card's pins. solution: i bought a 1U low profile s1366 cooler. it just came in, here's what it looks like installed on the motherboard. ahh, perfect... now the second problem, the bar holding the video card is too close, so the video doesn't have enough clearance to be mounted properly. solution: i drilled out rivets on both sides, made 2 new holes to move two bars back about 6mm, which is just enough clearance. that PCB "hook" now has enough clearance a few more mods to come before it's finished

I thought windows was limited to 4 video cards. Linux can operate 8 IIRC.
the new drivers can support 8 GPUs

So I guess it is time to say:
Happy Birthday Bitcoin!
wrong phrase, bitcoin wasn't created/invented on august 7 a few years ago. this is more of a milestone than a birthday

you should find out what's causing the problem instead of running away and power cycling it. is it because you have 4 or more GPU's on a motherboard? right now i'm having this problem, and i suspect the PSU not being able to handle the power load or the motherboard has too much current running through all the pci-e slots

I feel your frustration, but sorry, but I don't have any answers for you. I've been trying 5 GPUs on a very similar MSI mobo, a 890FXA-GD65, and it is unstable as hell. I also have a good PSU (Antec HCP 1200W Gold). Frequent difficulty booting into Linuxcoin and wildly fluctuating hashrates with only 3 GPUs connected. After adding two powered PCIe extender cables it managed to boot into Linuxcoin with 4 GPUs active and the hashrate is more stable. But I'm RMA'ing the damn thing and replacing it with an ASRock 890FX Deluxe4 AM3 AMD 890FX mobo which will hopefully work with 5x GPUs.
unlike the GD70, the GD65 has an extra 6-pin power plug that you plug in directly into the motherboard for additional power to the pci-e slots. so with this additional power, i'm not sure what else is making the instability of this board.

wow price is now 7.7 USD per BTC. looks like it's the trickle effect of panic sells?

FYI, the "closed" type is known as "reference design cooler" and "open" type you refer to is called "non-reference design". the ass and mouth term you used is hilarious for video cards

hmm ya i thought this was too good to be true for instant shipping. funny... it will ship at end of august and their website says "ships within 1-2 days". do they charge card when you order, or do you only get charged after item ships?

*BUMPPP* lowered price again

hmm looks like at the place just north of those burned area, the two pins are touching, so maybe it shorted? i'm not too sure...
