So the project is done and the bounty no longer available? Darn.  Undecided

Sorry

Well if you want help with anything along these lines, or have any advice, I am open to it. I evolved my idea for an ATM into a Bitcoin VISA card. You might see it around the forums soon, once I have it all planned out.

I could sell you what I have of my business. I have a really good domain. The vending machine. Hundreds of professionally made cards with codes hidden behind a scratch off section on the back and a database of the codes. Let me know if you are interested.

What about using your trezor to digitally sign arbitrary data? Does it have that functionality? I'm guessing it does since they have plans to use it for authentication but not sure.

I remember that I already answered this earlier. TREZOR has support of signing bitcoin messages already (like Bitcoin-qt, Electrum and others), it's not in myTREZOR yet (will be very soon).

Sorry. I did a text search through all of the pages since then for my handle to make sure that you hadn't replied to me.

Anyway awesome. Can't wait.

So wheres it at now? update?

I still have it. I came to realize just how much risk was involved in this. If I was classified as a money services business without a bond I could face jail time.

If someone finds your dollar bill laying around on the ground they can spend it. Dollar bills still work just fine. Dont give your trezor to anyone else, problem solved. If you lose it, oh well you only had 100 bucks on it or w/e is the analogue to what you might keep in your regular fiat holding wallet.

You see, here I disagree. Why would anyone buy a trezor for 120 bucks to only carry an average of 100 bucks around. Doesn't sound too practical tbh.

Well not for 120 bucks but the free market drives down the price of everything. Someday these things will be in a little basket on the desk of companies free because they have a logo on the back. In intermediate stages between here and there the price will fall dramatically. In a year I bet they will be driven down to 1/4 of the price.

I asked this question ages ago but i dont think anyone ever responded to it. I think its still a good question so ill ask again.

To make an analogy. If trezor is a male condom, have you guys put any thought into developing a female condom? That is to say, people who use a trezor are completely safe from having their bitcoins stolen, but what about the risk to the merchant when you plug your trezor into his system? Have you put any thought into developing a devise for merchants that would allow customers to plug their trezor into the merchants system with out any risk of a fake trezor compromising the merchant's security?

I don't think trezor is for POS terminals. Atleast that is how I understand it.

Well as it is no. That would be way to much risk to the terminals to plug god knows what into their systems. But with such a devise as was described above, they could be.

Could be implemented yes, but do you really think TREZOR will reach such an adoption that it will be neccessary?
In its current form - no.

but 5 years down the road, an RFID version would be entirely acceptable using a slightly different protocol than the in/out of USB

Sounds better, but then we will even more need the PIN or PW, because of obvious reasons Wink

TREZOR 2.0 would then need some kind of num pad

There is no clear reason to need a pin if we are not talking about huge amounts of money. I mean I dont have to enter a pin to hand someone cash. None the less i have never yet had cash stolen from me.

That would be true if there was a mechanism that would prevent repeated charges. Afaik there is none at this moment. So if you find a TREZOR you could not steal much money at once, but with many small charges your could empty it pretty fast.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Hard to say. Clearly it is not the case that it would be worth it now. Im just wondering if its on their radar.

It would be even easier than say credit cards. If you had one that was more analogous to your wallet than your savings account you could run it without a pin. Then you could just stick the trezor in a slot and press send if the amount was correct. It could literally be accomplished from start to finish in 2 seconds. Then you add to that all of the other advantages of bitcoin over credit cards. It could really illustrate the value proposition of bitcoin.

Where can i find the public key that satoshilabs uses to sign their firmware updates?
2374  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: August 05, 2014, 01:39:24 AM
Perhaps direct entry of paper wallets into the Trezor is the most secure method of inputting rather than trying to get a secure channel outside of it.

If you are THAT concerned about security than just author and sign the transaction on an offline computer and copy the signed transaction over to an online computer to broadcast it. You know the old school way like we had to do before trezor Cheesy

I know someone who still has it mint, I guess. I don't have contact details, but will ask him to contact you on the next bitcoin meetup. he always is present there Smiley

Does anyone know of a place where bounties are kept up with? If not i will start a thread.

We've rejected the notion of bounties for two reasons:

1. The amount contributed is rarely - if ever - close to a level of compensation a REALLY competent developer (or even a development team) expects. Very occasionally this is mitigated by someone who is willing to take a huge hit based on the potential future value of the bounty.

2. More often than not, it becomes a race to the bottom. A competent developer will spend a lot of time discussing, architecting, scoping, and planning before writing a single line of code. A bounty encourages a writing-code-so-that-it-kinda-works style of development. In the end, we are left with poorly thought out code that we have to maintain.

What do you guys (the devs) think about the possibility of trezor support? Would it even be possible? I'm thinking probably not since the trezor is producing Secp256k1 signatures and inorder to produce a valid signature on monero it would need to be a ring signature (idk what that standard is called but its probably not Secp256k1). Is it just the case that inorder to have something like a trezor it will have to be purpose built for cryptonote platforms?

Lib Professors: Calling Your Daughter A “Princess” Is Sexist…

Eh I actually kind of see the point of the article. It is not a good thing to do to your daughter. Benevolent sexism that is. I mean its not that its evil or something. Its just teaching them that they can rely on their looks to coast through life. Which they could. But i doubt it is a very fulfilling life. Humans reach their full potential only by overcoming challenges, denying your daughter the same challenges in life that a son would have denies her the opportunity to reach her full potential.
