If Monero passes Dash in price, then the drinks are on me  Grin

You know I was only kidding, right?  Wink

No. It's easy to imagine some people being very easily able to afford this under this circumstance. I guess I'm not getting my beer now. Sad

I'll say this. Ill buy everyone a drink when we are #2 on coin market cap. (unless its only because everything else cratered into oblivion). And I'm not kidding. I have to recognize you though as long time poster in this thread and you will have to post a pic to prove you really spent the monero on a drink Wink.

Does this have a white paper and/or any peer review? I love the claims. I'm totally into the utility and value proposition if it is secure and the claims about scaleability are true. Probably the latter is true because people would notice in about 10 seconds if it weren't. Just the security of this "tangle" style blockchain(ish) thing scares me.
1424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 03, 2016, 06:39:02 AM
BAM! ATH again.

And now is the time that I am SO glad I didn't penny pinch. It was for exactly this reason. I could smell that explosion coming.

I got in literally like 15 minutes before. You know how in scifi movies they always have a scene where the space ship is flying towards a closing hangar door and gets through as the last tiny bit of crack remains. That was me Grin
1425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 03, 2016, 06:35:27 AM
So, here's a question...

While I don't like what BTC is or is becoming these days, I don't buy into the theory it is "dead".  So, what happens to XMR when/if BTC decides to increase in price?

Will the XMR/BTC market readjust or will a 'rising tide raise all boats'?

Or will XMR bring new money into BTC, even?

Definitely have to disagree with explorer on that one. There has always been a strong anti-correlation between the prices of btc and monero. Monero could still rise in a rising btc environment to be sure, but probably always less than it would have in a falling btc environment. We are competition with each other. When btc is boring and stagnating its capital flows into alts. When it rises people get excited and move some of their capital out of alts and back into bitcoin.

Trying to purchase XMR on polo and NO ONE WILL SELL. It's frustrating.

Buy now, or wait for a seller @ .02

I posted this earlier, but it is relevant again.

I was going to up my margin long this morning, but the rates are going astronomical. Now I wish I had done it regardless.

Yea I'll be on the sloshing yacht. I love sailing yachts. Some of the coolest things money can buy. I have a very small one actually. Would very much like to be able to afford a nice one. Grin

And yea you are right. I stopped trying to penny pinch and just bought into the very thin liquidity on the sell side. Roll Eyes You can see it reflected in the most recent candle.

The recent StackExchange victory

What is this in reference to?

http://monero.stackexchange.com/

Only cryptos that have their own stackexchange site are bitcoin, ethereum, and now monero.

Wow! What an endorsement. Shocked

1430  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: September 03, 2016, 03:14:50 AM
So I just got my 2 new trezors in today and I immediately noticed something. The tactile feel of the click on the buttons feels noticeably different. Not just a slight difference. They feel very different. On the old one the actuation is very muted and soft almost mushy with almost no "click" to it. On the new ones its very clicky/snappy to the point where I can audibly hear the click if its very quite in my house.

Anyone else noticed this? Is it noted anywhere that satoshi labs changed some of their hardware manufacturers in newer production runs?

Dude hell yea. I hope it wasn't a joke because I'm going to remember this. Wink

If you are buying fluffypony's drinks, you are going to pay a pretty Moneroj.

Beer for my boys, 30 year old aged whiskey for my pony.

Oh yea, I'll just take a beer. Nothing fancy for me.

Full disclosure. I don't own any. I love the project because its the continuation of the ethereum projects vision, and I love that vision. But the reason I can't commit to investing is the almost non existent github activity. Can anyone change my mind. Explain how I'm missing something. Or make the case for why I shouldn't be concerned about this.

Looks good to me, last updated 37 minutes ago

https://github.com/ethereumproject/

All those repos are for the neo-ethereum project. I just worry whether hoping to constantly mooch off their work is viable. I think this project is going to have to go its own way at some point.

A mainstream article that basically covers the major points and does so correctly.  Just the facts mam, just the facts.

 Shocked

Agreed.  The word "criminal" was nowhere to be found. Smiley

Yes! THIS to me is the most bullish thing yet. Not the graphs, but the gradual acceptance of Monero as a usable currency, by normal humans. GLTA!

To me its all about the fundamentally sound tech, utility and the growing community awareness.

All i know is all the XMR i mined is totally worthless to me because of the micro payments made to my by the mining pool!  Embarrassed

This pool pays out in 1xmr chunks so less fees

http://mine.moneroworld.com/#

or maybe your machine is to slow to bother Grin

edit: bet me by a second Smiley

Main problem for me was that i mined back in the early days with a CPU.

The pools back then were paying in small amounts.

I never knew this was an issue until later.

Dont know why the fees are so high to consolidate the wallet.

Is there any way to reduce this?

Seems a big flaw, as this defeats the use of micro payments, especially if the value increases.

It was a flaw with the pool back then not monero its self. Monero isn't designed to do micro payments efficiently. No successful high market cap (relatively) blockchain is going to be good for micro payments though. Scientists and engineers need to solve that problem with something like a lightning network or some sort of segregated witness side chain that regularly prunes older blocks.

I'm really impressed that XMR is the first on Poloniex in terms of volume since a few days now. Same with the margin trading.
Guys do you reckon it is still the right time to invest in Monero? Isn't it a bit too late to enter the game?

I'm a pretty early investor (fortunately not so early as to have caught the top of that first huge spike though) and I just bought more. I can't tell you what to do but words are cheap so I tell you my actions.

*edit* Words may be cheap but let me explain my reasoning none the less. Early on I recognized the innovative nature of the technology when I read the whitepaper. However at that time it could have easily been the case that monero never would gain traction despite being innovative, useful and technically sound. Sometimes good things just don't gain traction and its a travesty but its the real world. Fast forward to now, we are getting press, people are reading the white paper, bitcoin jesuses are entering the space. We have taken the necissary foothold that we needed inorder to be in a position to gain traction if my beliefs about the technology its self are correct. Because of this I see monero as a better investment today than it was back then. Benefit of hindsight excluded obviously.

Mods and tech guys -

What do I need to do do upgrade the wallets? I am apparently trying to load an old wallet and it needs some type of upgrade?

If it's the old standard, I think you will have to just send your monero to a new wallet. You should be able to run simplewallet.exe with the flag --wallet-file arg to recover it for starters. Then just make a new wallet and send to a modern mnemonic seed style wallet.

Here is a post about it. https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/3jteca/how_to_import_old_monero_wallet/ and the answer worked. But probably if he had just run it with the flag I talked about above he wouldn't have gotten that error.

Guys. Monero is doomed. Its the end of the line. Abandon ship while you can.

Translation: Fill my order please. Grin

I can't post a chart right now, but XMR is looking bullish as hell ATM. We might be looking at another leg up tonight.

So hard not to buy more. Must resist. Wife would kill me. Must resist.
I've been there and done it anyway... as long as you can use funds that she doesn't watch you can get away with it for a while. But, sometimes the piper comes to call!

Whelp I couldn't resist. I doubled down. Order placed. The wife was just like I don't care if you trade one magic internet money for another... Cheesy. In my mind I think of bitcoin as much safer but I don't think she does.
