2361  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My soccer betting experiment in almost a week. on: January 17, 2023, 09:55:37 PM

Should I continue here where my balance only grows or get back to slot machines? One thing is sure, these winnings here has grayed out a lot my love for slots.
Well it is a good thing that you are seeking alternatives on the game you are playing often simply because you won't win in a consistent manner to any kind of gambling you engage yourself with as long as it is gambling. I am also into sportsbetting but I was doing dice games before. The thing I liked about sportsbetting is somehow allowing the players to minimize the tendency of losing through analyzing the teams I am interested with; past matches, players'performance and such. To answer the question whether you should go back to slots, that is really on you as @Oshosondy have said. One's preference is the answer. We are all aiming to win in this industry so choose what would push you near that purpose. You may also alternate from the two categories if you enjoy both.
2362  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC bulls back? on: January 17, 2023, 09:24:23 PM
I'm not sure if it is a bull trap but I do think that this is not  a bullish trend. One reason is that there is no concrete cause of the price increase other than what CIP have reported. This could just be a hype up but atleast, we saw one. Given that the market price suffered and struggled for a couple of months, it is nice seeing such thing because it simply shows that there is still hope given that many investors were discourage of the negative market behavior from the past few months.
I was thinking BTC was going to be on a down hill mostly until near end of 2023. Do you believe this is a bull trap or true recovery for next bull is now here?

I would be interested to see what you people think and why.

:3

I am not sure about the position of this market, many say that this is a trap and many say that now the Bull run is scheduled earlier.
But I didn't really pay attention to that, because I was just waiting for the timetable to continue my DCA this month to find the right price.
I'm only looking to accumulate long term, even though I'm quite interested in the price increase, but it seems I'm still going strong for DCA no matter what.
If this is a trap I'd be more than happy to wait for a price drop to add to my bitcoin portfolio.
The increase is more expected in 2024 regarding the anticipated Bitcoin halving. We may see spikes such as with what we have seen lately, as this year continues. As investors, we should really be taking advantage of the market behavior but we should not be too carried away by it given that this industry is way unpredictable.
2363  Other / Archival / Re: Mass adoption: Naming my child bitcoin on: January 17, 2023, 03:32:17 PM
If you are really into something olease don't involve or forcefully relate it to other individual other than yourself. You just removed the rights of your child to have a 'normal' life. What could happen? You are being too delusional I guess, sorry. What if issues happen in the future concerning this blockchain? what if your child get bullied? What will you do? Solve it yourself? this is being selfish if this is true. Bitcoin indeed is a good invention but this is just too much as others have mentioned. I am saying this 'coz I know someone did the same thing but on different thing. His child became the center of attention;both good and bad because of its 'weird' name. One thing I've learned? orevention is better than cure. Be responsible enough before making a decision.
2364  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you calculate house edge...? on: January 17, 2023, 02:51:07 PM
...if it isn't stated by casino beforehand, and sometimes it's stated only for dice and not for other games (examples being card games, roulette, slots), in such cases how is it to be calculated?
Stake.com has a fairness calculator.

But I don't usually check that because I cannot even understand the numbers in it. I am one of those guys that don't care about these critical details and just go directly to gambling.
I don't know how to calculate the house edge although, in provability checking, I do it manually by doing 10 rounds per seed. But it doesn't end up with my expectation most of the time because sometimes I win in a good streak or vice versa.
Maybe contacting support will be the easiest way to get an explanation.
I am one with the gamblers who are not checking the house edge simply because I don't bet that much. Either I win or lose; depends on my luck and analysis. I believe those people who care for such thing are the ones who gives more importance of what they are doing which is gambling in this case. They won't be wrong from doing so but no matter high high or low a house edge is, if you won't be lucky enough to win the game, then that would be fate right there. Let us say you are now aware of the edge against players; then what now? Choose other platform which has lower against its players? What if you're just unlucky? Then you'll lose still. Problem is gambler's mindset thinking that if edge is on the players, they'd generate more profit. But unfortunately, gambling does not simply work that way.
2365  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: betting against the Public, is this strategy working? on: January 17, 2023, 02:23:31 PM
Betting against the majority? Gauge what you are trying to do. If it is just pride with the idea of not following the majority, then that would be a bad thing. Stick with the objective which is to win even if it would mean you have to follow the majority in some instances. So I think it does depend on the situation; if you are having no assurance of what path or bet to take, then you may follow the majority but if you have your own stand backed with your own reason, then go for it. Gambling is complicated; not because majority bet on first team you'd be required to do also. Always have time to think as much as possible whether following them would yield to a better outcome than following your own intuition.
2366  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 10 Biggest U.S Lottery Jackpots Ever...(Until Now) on: January 17, 2023, 01:41:30 PM
In short, there are really people who made huge amount of money from gambling but what does it imply? To break the stigma, gambling will not be an easy way to be rich unless you are lucky. Not because there are people who won jackpots, would mean same thing will happen on your end. Bottomline is luck. Do not rely that much in this industry for financial aid because losing is more likely to happen in every game. Many people become addicted in this idusry because of such impression and hope. There will never be a way to be rich in an instant, on a daily basis. Play the game with expectations of winning but never be too dependent on such chances.
2367  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you handle your losses on: January 17, 2023, 01:07:39 PM
For sure have been asked numerous times. But to still answer and to be a reminder to the new ones out there; know your limits. Losing is indeed part of the process; winning in the first place is uncertain. In terms of dealing with your loss, Ofcourse that won't be an easy thing to do. You may consider taking a pause in gambling and engaging to other things you do aside. And that's on you when will you come back again. One thing is for sure; forcing your luck won't lead to any positive outcome so take your time. Some would say you need to get back your loss, well that is ideal but guess what, there is a higher tendency for your losses to be bigger if you'd do so. Then make it a habit to set a limit on the amount you can afford to lose everyday in order to lessen your affection towards negative outcome.
2368  Other / Off-topic / Re: Can any one set up a Blockchain Court of Justice ? on: January 16, 2023, 10:41:13 PM
no code can program "human"
it just becomes who can social drama the best story of what events happened, and make their story the most viral to get most votes.. you cant program that

In summary, it'd just become a different or extra version of the currently disliked/suboptimal system.

Most courts can become victims of manipulation already and a decentralised one would do the same unless it's based off specific logic (such as decentralised exchanges).
Indeed, also, it would go in contrast with decentralisation. Given that this blockchain protects anonymity, how come would it be proven every transaction if a user can transfer it from one wallet to another? Tracing indeed is possible but as long as there are no IDs tagged with that wallet, it would be impossible to determine who's the owner. Let us stick with being vigilant with our funds and to others. Stealing and hacking on the other hand is a also something. All of these would lead to one's negligence as an investor. It is money we are talking about in the first place and that should be enough for us to put extra caution with every action and held ourselves liable for whatever outcome.
2369  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anybody else confused by the dead-coins pump ? on: January 16, 2023, 09:42:31 PM
This is crypto, the wild west of investing. Unexplainable movements happen, it is what it is. If money is there to be made & the markets have low liquidity then whales will do it.

Just be careful because people with deep pockets can just as easily manipulate markets to send prices in the opposite direction.
Everyrhing's based on demand. No matter how majority considered something as "dead" if afterwards it will still have a demand for any possible reason, then its market value will again be active. Indeed, things are just way too unpredictable in this industry because demand in the first place is not consistent and is changing from time to time. We saw many projects which are still 'alive' up until this point even if they are not considered by majority. As long as there would be a small community to create a demand, then things are still possible. But when it comes to investment, engaging with dormant projects won't be advisable even if rewards would be big because of the possible rate of increase.
2370  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It is ok to sell your Bitcoin. on: January 16, 2023, 09:11:09 PM
Ofcourse it is okay as long as it is yours. Either you regret it or not afterwards; you are selling your asset for a reason. Regardless whether you sold it early or late; as long as there is a reason from doing so, that would be fine. We have different circumstances as investors in the first place. Some people will say "just hold". There will jist be emergencies in our lives which are totally unexpected and those will be the times wherein you have to break your plans to cope or adjust with the situation. Believe me, this happpens a lot in this industry. I had tough times as well wherein same thing pushed me to sell before rhe previous all time high. It did not gave me any regret since selling was necessary on my end.
2371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who's your biggest gainer so far ? ( Last 7 days ) on: January 16, 2023, 04:08:23 PM
I had big gains with Solana (unexpected) next is with BTC wherein I had some as well. Basically these are the tokens in my wallet and I was really planning to hold them for a while but a sudden increase took place recently. However I sold them upon crossing the barriers simply because I'm in doubt of a continuous increase as early as the present. The year has just started and Spikes are more likely to occur than bullish trend in my opinion, especially from being bearish for a couple of months. Recovery won't be that easy because there is now a huge gap between current market prices and ATH market value among cryptocurrencies. Would probably be spotting more coins for the purpose of earning profit if spikes again occur.
2372  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Btc get to $12k or $10k on: January 16, 2023, 03:48:54 PM
Its price could and could not, we never know. But if it is general possibility and to answer the question, then there's a chance especially ifthere will be something that would make investors and non-investors avoid this technology in any possible reason there is perhaps government restriction. Such scenarios could really pull down this technology. But let us hope this thing won't happen even in the future. For this year's market behavior, it is a good thing recently wherein market prices gone up and I think it is now on the correction phase because that was merely a spike.
All the callers, saying Bitcoin will get to $12k $10k or below, we haven't see $14k so far, is $15.4k the last bottom for btc or we are still going to see more dump??

this should be a mini pump
because Btc is resting at a critical supply zone. If it breaks and close above it, we may not see 12k. If not 12k here we come

We don't know whether it will hit at this price or not, but what I am certain of right now is that it is beginning to pump and that it is the result of the economy opening up and inflation cooling. My prediction to you is quite the opposite: it was on the brighter side than in previous years, but let's see what happens now that there is resistance at 21K; let's see if it breaks it or if we see another bloody year for bitcoin.
A long way to go still and it is still hard to conclude as early as now. Things including price movement is unpredictable in the first place. For sure many people are anticipating the increase in 2024 but let us not close the curtains early for Bitcoin's price.
2373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to profit from altcoins collapses? on: January 16, 2023, 03:24:16 PM
Sell short at Binance or other trading platform which would allow you to do so. Problem would be your 'timing' of when to sell and which coin to sell ofcourse 'coz if it happen that you sell short and the market price suddenly recover, you'd be in loss. The market itself is unpredictable which makes Trading difficult. If you are simply asking for a way to earn profit even if the market is down, easily, then there's no such thing as a shortcut to win. You'll need to have the skills to do so. Much better if you'll just wait for recovery to take place in this industry if you ain't ready to risk that much. That is the only way to survive the bearish market trend.
2374  Economy / Economics / Re: Your way of living the wage what you need to live normal life on: January 16, 2023, 02:50:02 PM
If the government wants to get involved then they have to increase the wages and the needs of the workers for a decent standard of living, but each job has a different salary and they have a life according to their income, even though there are regulations determining the minimum wage but it will not be enough to rent a place because their salary is not enough for that and does not include other main needs that must be prioritized. But some countries for a minimum wage of $250 per month is enough for a year's rent, decent housing and not far from urban areas.
It seems too cheap to be able to rent decent housing for a year close to the city with an income of $250 per month. I haven't even imagined that such a large amount of income can be used to rent housing or a place to live close to urban areas. Because when someone is in their new home, all the expenses for their living needs will be very large and they even need to find additional income so that they can be very comfortable to continue renting and also save to buy a complete house.

$250 per month is already huge in a third world country, whereas here in our place it is only $200, but still they can afford to rent a house or an apartment, but again, it is not enough. They need to spend their expenses only on those needs, and they need to do side jobs as a form of another source of income since it is not enough. Also, it is difficult to save money in this kind of situation to buy a house; you really need to take a loan, but again, you'll be struggling to pay it back. The solution is really having another source of income.

look for more options of earning some money thru side jobs. don't be picky, as long as you're earning and adding to your monthly income, why not? we have different cost of living as we live in different parts of the world. some countries are expensive and yet some are cheap. if you happen to live in a country where everything is cheap, why not save some of your extra and invest it, right?  it all depends on our disposition in life how we can improve our way of living, no matter where you are on this planet.

If you live in a country where food prices are low, your salary is likely to be low as well, so it is still expensive. Also, before the pandemic, I've noticed that when people are looking for a job or side job, they are extremely picky, primarily because of the salary they receive; however, after the pandemic, they are now getting all the side jobs simply to add their source of income because everything is so expensive. Saving money becomes increasingly difficult as prices rise while wages remain stagnant.
Conditions like that are definitely not easy because the demands or necessities of life can be said to be high but wages don't go up,
that is why it is important to have other sources of income and not just depend on one source,
In addition, global economic conditions also make the price of basic commodities rise.

We really need to adapt because relying on the government to raise our salaries will take a long time and we will be very stressed about it. That is why others will do any side hustles even if they are only earning low because it is another source of income and without it, your life will be more difficult. Also, prices continue to rise every month or year, which is a clear indication that we need to find another source of income to catch up and able to buy our needs and wants.
Indeed, waiting for companies and governments to make the adjustments would be a waste of time; you don't need to wait in the first place if they have the initiative to do so. There are many ways to earn money not just by being an employee; you may buy and sell things both online and personal but only a few has the courage and determination to do so. Sometimes, it is ourselves which is our biggest enemy to aid things and be better. Wanting or desiring to earn more won't be enough, you have to make your own actions. You may also accept services you can offer to ither people and charge them for the service. What if you din't have such skill? Then you have to learn something which would make them pay you.
2375  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A good way to promote Bitcoin or not? on: January 16, 2023, 02:18:35 PM
So my wife and i has a big wine 🍇 store and this includes other drinks as well, we sell in packs, and loads of people always come around to buy from us, I am thinking if this is a good opportunity to start promoting Bitcoin? I mean if some can pay Bitcoin for goods and services it will help even if they are few.

I believe this can make people start wondering what Bitcoin is and I will be waiting for questions like

What is bitcoin?

What benefits come from using it as payment?

Then I will give my answer and see if any people become more interested in it, some have heard about it but they have a wrong perspective of what Bitcoin is leading to believe it's a scam.  What do you think?
I guess, to instances as such, the outcome depends on your business and not to your consumers. Ofcourse this would be a good idea especially for crypto industry but what would matter is whether your business would survive doing so or not. Given that the market price won't continuously go up, how would you be able to sustain your business in the first place during market dips? Let's be real. Such business would require you to put stock whenever it is running low. Would you be able to sell your holdings even if the price is still low?, That would be an instant loss for sure. Supporting this industry will never be a bad idea but be sure you'd be able to compensate yourself as well.
2376  Economy / Speculation / Re: Did you sell off during the 21k price breach. on: January 16, 2023, 01:46:34 PM
Yup, managed to exit at $21k, entered at $15k. It is somewhat unplanned to be honest, I never expected that there will be an increase as early as this one given that the year has just began. However I sold my holdings at the mentioned price point because I doubted the possibility that the increase would be continuous. The known reason was the CIP Report recently but I think it is not a reason which would support market resistance against bearish market from last year. I am more expecting of a huge recovery in 2024 but I won't disregard any spike with the market prices to generate profit ofcourse. Always be mindful of the reason whenever the price is whether upward or down to help you with buying and selling decision.
2377  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Meme coin caused Solana price to rise by 40% in a week on: January 15, 2023, 11:34:59 PM
Recently a meme coin was launched on Solana network which got a lot of hype. As a result, Solana prices are about 40% up in last one week. Do you think this is good thing or bad thing for solana ? Just a meme coin causing this boost instead of some solid news like good partnerships or adoption in some company.
There will always be some pumps in the market, even on the worst days look at CMC and you will see highest gainers being a lot, and you know you won't be picking that up. Many people hope that they would buy a token, and that token would be the highest earner of the day but we all know that is not going to be the case, very few people have it and that is why it goes up that much, since it lacks liquidity so even a million dollars will make it 3000% increase.

In any case, stay with the good ones, the big names, because they would give you a good long term profit instead of a pump and dump, and less risky to keep your money there as well.
It is definitely a rare situation to find 10% or more on a red day or even a red week, but they do exists. However, we are in a good week now, which means that there were some money going around in the market and it just didn't know where to land. We have managed to get a higher amount of funds and increase everything basically, the market looks as green as eyes can see which is a great situation to be in.

I am not saying that this increase was done because of the market situation, it came earlier but at the same time the outlook towards market must be a bit green during this period if we are talking about a following market being this much greener.
To early to say, I guess. Also the increase might be because of the CIP report which somehow made an inddirect impact towards Bitcoin market price which then, triggered a domino effect towards other cryptocurrencies. It is still hard to tell whether the increase would be continuous but it does seem that it won't; we have already saw yesterday that the market prices decline already. However it is still a good market indicator to see this market in general show signs of recovery from being 'burried' for a couple of months. We may also see more price spikes this year but if you are looking for a longer one, that would more likely occur in 2024 concerning anticipated Bitcoin halving.
2378  Economy / Economics / Re: More Money Problems that Bitcoin Solves on: January 15, 2023, 10:34:17 PM
Have been asked numerous times. There are many reasons why Bitcoin is not widely accepted as a mode of payment. Firs is decentralization wherein governments won't be able to tax every transaction unlike with fiat or fiat based digital currencies. Next is the risk involved with market price volatilty. For sure not every people would be interested to invest and out their money at risk; the price moves a lot which can yield to losses at any moment. There are even businesses which accepted cryptocurrencies as mode of payment but eventually stopped doing so, simply because they cannot sustain the business by holding it whenever the market price is low. These are only few reasons why, and I guess we are not yet ready for total adoption of this technology.
2379  Economy / Economics / Re: It's Simple to understood now cash is king again on: January 15, 2023, 04:11:42 PM
Inflation depreciates cash but assets like gold and bitcoin don't depreciate, they are only volatile which increases when the demand is high and deceases with less demand. It is good you secure this assets for safety during inflation. We read of a thread in this forum that told us about a bank that used 50% of its fund to invest on  gold because that's the only way to safe the value of cash during inflation.

Cash is weak and vulnerable to attack which makes it not reliable,it can be duplicated counterfeit, it can be destroyed by fire, water, chemical e.t.c. Gold and bitcoin can not be faked, anything that is not gold, is not gold. Bitcoin works with the blockchain which makes it impossible for counterfeit. OP cash is only needed for daily transactions, store your cash at home,by next year,it must have depreciated of 5%.

There is nothing wrong with what you said, but I need to re-emphasize what you said "cash is only needed for daily transactions," and that is the most important point. Whether you invest in bitcoin or gold, after all, when you need to use them, you still have to exchange them for cash to use. You cannot use gold or bitcoin for your daily transactions. It must be said that cash has too many cons, but it has been around for thousands of years and is still the most used, so it is still king. We can't deny it, although it is far behind gold and bitcoin in terms of investment or store of value.
Simply because fiat is more acknowledged by the society. Imagine buying a meal using gold. Unless they allow to do so, most of the time, it won't be accepted not because it has no value but because of the existing system of transaction. It would be hard to extract a $2 worth of gold for a single meal. That is likewise with cryptocurrencies in a sense that not all businesses do accept such technology as a mode of payment. Regarding the reputation of cash, it will always be there in any form; digital or physical. And if one day cryprocurrencies will be accepted by majority of countries, for sure cash would be still used on normal transactions simply because of governments, and I have no problem with that; not all people are into investments anyway.
2380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Solana takes back top 10 position on: January 15, 2023, 03:48:53 PM
Solana is once again a top ten coin, I am starting to feel like I will regret not buying solana and hold for a long time because if this project survive it will bring the highest ROI in the list of top coins on coinmarketcap, the present value is even looking good, what is your take on Solana?

It is impossible to know in advance which coin will bring the highest ROI to the investor. And we will see many more examples like Solana in the next bull run. And if you are upset now that you did not buy Sol at the lowest price, I think the market will still give you such a chance.
Highest ROI or Profit? ROI should simply be a breakeven of what you have engaged on this industry. But indeed it is impossible to know which cryptocurrency would generate more profit because that would depend on the amount you have invested and the coin you chose. On my end, I am never seeking for the best one; earning profit would be enough because that'll just give me regret monitoring which coin should have I invested even if that would be impossible to be certain of in the first place; you'd only know it once an increase occur. Also, it will never be too late to invest not only on Solana but to others as well. The market still is down by a high percentage since ATH, and if you will be choosing the right coin, profit will surely be earned once bullish trend enter this industry.
