He already played in the last match of PSG (he came on as a substitute), I have not heard anything about the fact that he will need additional time to recover. I'd argue the opposite for Sean O'Malley, since to me he has a ceiling, and it definitely isn't in the top five. He's a good cash cow up until he gets found out against ranked opponents, and believe you me, he will be found out. I don't expect him to even challenge the top five, because Dana will want to protect him as much as possible. Same as Paddy who has made a great impact on fans, I think he clearly has a ceiling which probably isn't going to be anywhere near the top five. Izzy is the exception here, one of the best fighters the UFC has seen, and he knows how to market. However, the real promoter was Conor who seems to be making a comeback sometime this year, which could be interesting if he takes it seriously, and gets that passion back that he seemed to have lost. Actually, you could be right about Sean O'Malley and paddy. But they do you seem to have a good impact on the crowd. But if they don't have the results to back their Talking up, then fans will also lose interest in them. And about Conor McGregor, I think his situation is going to be more like Tony Ferguson. I think the reason Nigeria didn’t win against Tunisia is was because of the coach, he didn’t have enough tactics and ideas and I am sure he lack experience as well, he was very predictable and it was an easy job for Tunisia who just had to mark out the both wings because that is where almost all the goals Nigeria scored in the tournament came from. And in making substitutions he made a lot of mistakes and at the end of the day he lost. Although the end of the match was a bit promising because of the tension and the team knows they needed to get something that would have taken them to an extra time at least but it didn’t come.
You maybe right and i thought as well too, right from the beginning of the AFCON Simon moses, Chukweze, and kelechi has always been the men of the game which Nigeria always score. The Tunisia players were so hard on this men, they didn't give them chance. With this situation the Nigeria coach was supposed help to come with a strategy that would have been easy the players. Actually, I think the match was good and quite enjoyable at least till the 66th minute. Even though Tunisia scored at the 47th minute, for me the red card at the 66th minute actually killed the game otherwise if you look at the stats I think the match was really even. The stats actually suggest that Nigeria was the better team in that match. But I think if Nigeria could have a little more shots on target and if they could avoid the red card they would have had a really good chance of getting something from that match. |

Dana just needs to compromise I would think. Ngannou probably wants bigger money, so instead of Dana giving him the money directly, allow him to have a few boxing fights. I'm not sure why the UFC puts it in the clause of the contract that they can't fight in other sports. It would probably be beneficial because you keep the fighters happy, and you also put UFC fighters in the limelight, and in front of a new audience.
For example, I was originally a boxing fan, never even considered watching the UFC because I fell for the appearance of it rather than actually what it is. I always thought, I don't want to watch people beat on each other to a inch of their life, but doesn't really sound like fun. I was the typical outsider thinking that the UFC was for thugs, and boxing had more honour. Though, obviously now I realise how stupid that was without actually giving it a chance, I'm now a bigger MMA fan than boxing, in fact I literally only watch the big fights in boxing nowadays, I couldn't care less about it otherwise.
So, I assume that getting these fighters in the spotlight, could prove beneficial to Dana. Dana should be upping the wages on principle alone considering how much PPV buys they have, and how low they're paying them in comparison with other professional athletes. However, I think Dana by offering fighters the chance to fight in boxing fights once or twice a year, but still restrict them from fighting in other MMA competitions could well be the way to get a happy middle ground with the fighters.
I thought the fight with Gane was incredibly close, Gane seemed to be too good moving around for Ngannou to get the connection, but Ngannou showed he can adapt, and he does have other tools to his belt. Obviously, when he was on top of Gane he effectively did nothing, but control. So, he definitely isn't brilliant at it, but its progress, and I want to see Ngannou stay in the UFC for a few years yet.
It's a gamble for Dana to do that really but I think he knows that once a star had reached its peak, will ask for more. Not saying it's bad that it goes above Ngannou's head. It's actaully good to ask more and Dana knows that if Ngannou earns big in boxing, he may not come back. It's the nature of man to desire more. Benfica have started making important mistakes and this is causing them to go away from Sporting and Porto in the standings now. Benfica fell behind after Sporting and Porto loss and Moreirense draw. Sporting won all of their games except Santa Clara loss. Porto didn't make any mistakes and got a huge winning streak, they won thirteen matches in a row after Sporting draw. That's insane streak. They always win with three or four goals, it's impressive. This year's competition is harder than ever, we don't know if Porto and Sporting keep these streaks but they already made huge difference with other teams. Now it's a two teams competition for the title. I wonder what will happen in Porto - Sporting game this February. I mean they have been together for a while and they have worked well together for few seasons now. When Haaland went down and didn't play for few games I assumed they would get worse and they would not be anywhere near the top, but they didn't miss too many points during that period neither. This is a very good indication because we all know Haaland will leave. Reus is the key figure there for these type of times, he is not only scoring goals and creating possessions but he also leads the team, he is a great role model for the young players and a great leader to listen to for other older players. But when they have them both together? They are just insane. You are right. Even when Haaland was injured, Reus along with his teammates didn't let the fans feel the void left by Haaland as scoring goals was never a problem for them. Manchester United performance today wasn't impressive. Although they managed to win with a goal.
But, they almost draw the match. However, Rashford really saved the team by scoring at the 90+3 minutes. And the winning also helped them to slide their way to the top 4. It was a bad day for West Ham, they lost the match and also their position. While Newcastle had their 2nd winning match so far this season against Leeds today. Leeds dominated the game, but had great difficulties in scoring a goal, despite having 4 shot on target.
Westham this season has really surprised me with how well they have been playing. Even more they were consistent. I don't even wanna say how inconsistent Manchester United are this season but they still managed to get the win. It was a goal by Rashford in the 93rd minute. CR7 still could score in this match which is a bit saddening. But a win is a win and it will give them a big morale boost. |

Atletico Madrid surprised me with a massive come back in their match yesterday. Valencia was leaving the first half with 2 goals, unfortunately they couldn't maintain the winning to the end. Atletico Madrid bounced back in the second half and probably scored 3 goals, which however enable them to achieve 3 winning points. Although, they conceded 2 goals, Which is quite not good. But, at least they are recovering from their bad performance. Nevertheless, they are still at the 4th place, but have to play their next matches more carefully because Real Sociedad are just 3 points behind them.
It was one of the best matches I witnessed so far. Even till the 90th minute, I was quite sure that Valencia will win the game. But when Correa scored in the 91st minute, I expected the match to be a draw. But proving me wrong, and many others wrongs, Hermosa scored in the 93rd minute and snatched the in away from Valencia. Barcelona are in a really troubling situation now in their group. Maybe they are still at the second position but they are only two points ahead of Benfica before the last matches. At least with Aston Villa being able to make 1 goal is enough, because then at least Gerrard really has the ability to build a better team.
