1381  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to get a hardware wallet in a bitcoin banned country? on: January 07, 2023, 12:07:44 PM

You are in a difficult situation and if I'd put myself in this situation, I would rather not buy a hardware wallet but just install a Bitcoin wallet on your computer and store coins there. I wouldn't try ordering from outside will be risky.
If we live in a country where bitcoin is banned, then really don't risk buying a cold wallet it's pretty risky, and we have many safe solutions like a cold wallet. In OP's case, I will buy an old computer and will use it only to store my bitcoins, not for any work, and of course, it will always be offline. I think a computer with no internet connection and only used to store bitcoins is as safe as a cold wallet.

I'm surprised though that Binance and Kucoin allowed you to have an account. I'm assuming you use VPN?

As long as you use a VPN, you can access any exchange you want, it shouldn't be too difficult.
1382  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin - what price would you sell? on: January 07, 2023, 11:57:27 AM
I am not holding Bitcoin for financial gain alone; rather, I am holding it for future use. I also have no other option for where to store my value so as not to involve third parties so that why I am saving my in bitcoin, so I cannot simply determine the price at which I can sell my Bitcoin. I might consider selling it during the next bull run, but I don't believe the concept will be very logical given due that I may not need money at time, so i believe holding it till whatever.

But I always think about using it for transactions purposes, like making purchases with my Bitcoin whenever I anticipate a delay from my bank. As a result, my main motivation for acquiring Bitcoin is to use it in future transactions.

I see the contradiction in your statement, if you are not holding bitcoin for financial gain but for transaction purposes, then you don't need to buy and hold it from now on, or you can also buy and use it from now. Buying and selling bitcoin will never be difficult because this is a trading market as long as you have money and you can buy it at any time, so to say that holding bitcoins for the future without profit is not entirely true. I know that not all bitcoin users are speculators like me, but I really haven't seen anyone holding bitcoins who don't care about the profits it brings.
1383  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: January 07, 2023, 11:11:48 AM
It is still very early to be confident about any side between Barcelona and Real Madrid to make it to the La Liga title now. Because they aren't much different from each other in the standings. They have the same points before anything else. Actually there is a difference between them now. It is that Real Madrid are much better than Barcelona in big matches. We have seen many examples of it as a proof so far in the season. This was the main reason why they had a horrible form in the Champions League.

If Barcelona don't win the next El Clasico in the league then their job might be more difficult for achieving the title. Of course being consistent against smaller teams is the key to the championship. But it feels like they will have similar forms in such matches.

Barcelona will have to perform better and consistently if they want to win the La Liga title. If they keep missing chances as they did in the first match after the break, they are not going to be able to secure three points from matches like this. And if they are unable to get three points from these matches they will not be able to stay at the top of the table and they are also not going to be able to win against Real Madrid. Without them getting the easier three points they are not going to be able to win the title. And if Real Madrid can get ahead in terms of points, there will find it very difficult to get ahead of Real Madrid again.
1384  Other / Politics & Society / Re: I feel guilty. on: January 06, 2023, 11:55:21 AM
Yeah, you introduced him but it doesn't mean that you're the sole responsible for whatever he's experiencing right now. He's at his own fault and never controlled himself. It's like someone who introduced a friend to bitcoin and then the bear market has come and the current value of his investment went down, so that person who's at loss is looking for someone to blame. Don't feel guilty about but it's a good lesson that you'll not introduce anyone anymore to what you're doing.

In this case, it is true that the OP cannot be blamed because the other friend is also old enough to be aware and responsible for his behavior, and should not blame others when failing.

But this is a lesson not only for the OP and for all of us that advising someone really should be considered, especially financial advice, because they are very risky. Before giving advice, we need them to confirm that they will take all responsibility for the outcome because when they succeed, we don't benefit from them either.
1385  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do people always speak good about the dead? on: January 06, 2023, 11:45:34 AM
I attended a burial of a well known criminal in my hometown because he was a relation. He was involved in kidnapping, armed robbery and all sorts of criminal activities. When it was time for the funeral eulogy, many people came up and spoke about their relationship with the deceased. All of them spoke of his kindheartedness, generosity, love, kindness, etc. Nobody ever mentioned about his bad character or criminal activities.

This funeral made me recall that I have never attended any burial where people speak about the true character of the dead. They only speak good things about the deceased. Are they scared to speak evil about the dead or is there a tradition that forbids people from speaking bad against the dead?

If he is really bad and has no good points, people will never say good about him, maybe he is a criminal in society, but to his neighbor's, friends and family, he doesn't mistreat them. One more thing, when that person dies, that means they have nothing left, so speaking ill of the dead does not bring any benefit. His death means that he has paid for what he has done, and now it's time for him to become an average person. Just like when you have committed a crime and have been adequately punished, you are no longer a criminal.
1386  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What makes Countries More Powerful Than Others on: January 05, 2023, 06:34:54 AM
GDP and military strength are the only two metrics that matter.

Military strength essentially being how many nuclear weapons you have. Normally the world wouldn't take a country like Russia seriously because their economy was failing for years under Putin and their military was weak -- only such problem being they had more nukes than any other country in the world so we're forced to look at Russia as if they have power.

Russia's economy has been in decline for many years, it is indisputable the country is no longer an influential power on the international stage. But saying they have a weak military is not really, if they have a weak army, how can they become the country with the most nuclear warheads in the world and not stop there, they are still leading the military when constantly developing the most advanced weapons, the latest in the world. While their defense budget is much lower than that of the US, China, or Japan.
1387  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Meeting between SBF and senior Biden officials was for pandemic discussions on: January 05, 2023, 06:26:24 AM
Meeting between SBF and senior Biden officials was for pandemic discussions. At least this is what White House claims.
Link to news:
https://decrypt.co/118319/white-house-claims-meetings-between-sbf-and-senior-biden-officials-were-about-pandemic

Do you trust this ?

The government would always cover-up its shady deals with corrupt business owners. Sam Bankman-Fried was very smart lobbying both Democrats and Republicans because he wanted favor from both. It is not possible that they discussed just his donations to pandemic victims. There would be other secret discussions that would benefit a key donor like SBF. But the White House has bluntly that such discussion took place but the next government would unveil the truth to the public like in the case of Donald Trump. Returning SBF's donations to FTX is commendable and others should ensure they refund the money they collected. Joe Biden should be a role model, let him send back the money he collected, maybe some investors might be able to get some or part of their money from these refunds.

I also wish that affected people get their money back to the maximum extent possible.

Recently, the SBF pleaded not guilty in court, and the trial was delayed to October this year. I suspect this is just a ploy to deny all responsibility to investors. The government briefly arrested and prosecuted SBF when FTX collapsed but was later able to free him and postpone his trial until the end of the year. This is really absurd. Everything reminds me of the downfall of Mt.gox, almost 9 years have passed, and not a single victim has been able to get their money back.
1388  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: January 04, 2023, 04:10:52 PM
I have the same opinion as you, I think Real Madrid will get full points against Villareal later while Barcelona are still not too sure about getting full points in the match against Atletico Madrid because I think this is a pretty difficult match of course for Barcelona, to be honest I prefer to bet on the real madrid vs villareal match than atletico madrid vs barcelona
Real Madrid certainly benefited because their opponents were not as tough as those faced by Barcelona. Villarreal is a strong team but when compared to Atletico Madrid performance it's quite a bit different. With the same points, it is possible that Real Madrid will occupy the first position again.
Uniquely, Real Madrid always moves little by little but with a definite purpose. Reaching the top of the league proves that what Ancelotti says is true. They don't need a lot of additional players, because one or two new players if they are in Ancelotti's hands will be scary.

There is almost very little doubt that Real Madrid is actually going to get ahead of Barcelona on the table and reclaim the first position. I believe that Barcelona is going to have to perform better, especially when it comes to facing weaker opponents. There is no reason why Barcelona should not have won the last match. Almost everyone thought Barcelona was going to win their last match. But they ended up dropping points.

Barcelona has the target of winning the La Liga title. And they also have to understand that Real Madrid is the main competitor for the title. And Barcelona is not going to be able to beat Real Madrid easily. Barcelona might also lose against Real Madrid. So the best way is to capitalize on the easier matches.
1389  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: January 02, 2023, 06:18:18 PM
Dortmund itself is not so strong in the bundesliga. i don't know what's gonna happening woth dortmund after it will be losing some players. The dortmund was rarely winning the trophy but it was always making bunch of money through selling its players to the another club. The fact that if dortmund will always be losing the chance to get the title if the club will always be continue its football business.
A lot of football teams and german clubs selling there good players at some point , specially the small ones mostly.
Its a normal thing as this Clubs cant handle the salary for this players if they are very good and getting even more better.
Dortmund was just unlucky in the current german League and first half of the season with a lot of injured and missing players.
I really hope that they will come back on the table in the second half of the season.

I know that a lot of smaller clubs does end up selling their players. But there is a big difference between a small club from Bundesliga and Dortmund. Dortmund is certainly not a very small club. Or at least that’s what I think. The business that they are doing for quite a long time, should be able to give them a lot of money by now. And they should be able to bring in a lot of good players that they want in the team.

I do not think that Dortmund was unlucky in any matches. I would like to rephrase that, I do not think that Dortmund would have been unlucky in any match. If they actually cared about winning any title. The problem is they do not care. I do not have any high hopes for them going into the second half of the season.

For the ones who still have doubts on why he went there.
that's a very big salary but may we see sergio ramos will be moving there too? As far as i know that sergio ramos has got an offer from al nassr. There are some names who under target by al nassr
- Sergio ramos
- Busquets
- Kante
The list might increase as al nassr has an ambitious project to recruit more free transfer players. I think that sergio ramos has got a very big offer like ronaldo.

I think if the Saudi Arabian team Al Nassr is able to pull off the Sergio Ramos deal right after securing the Cristiano Ronaldo deal, football is going to blow up in the middle eastern country.

They have already acquired Cristiano Ronaldo and it seems that they are currently linked with a few more free-transfer players. We all know that the Saudi Arabian teams will not have a problem with money as they have an abundance of them. So I think they will start to attract more players in the near future which is good for football itself as it will expand more.
1391  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: January 02, 2023, 12:14:07 PM
Obviously, India is one of the largest countries in the world and they do have a really strong manpower base. India has developed into a country that is capable of leading the world in a number of fields. So it is quite easy to understand how and why they are a team that is actually leading the cricket scene at the moment and why and how they are able to do that. In addition to that, the fact that there are so many people living in the country is also one of the reasons why they are able to generate such a high level of revenue. Considering the high level of revenue generation, I think we can say that India is going to dominate the Asian cricket scene for a significant amount of time to come in my opinion.
India stands against most of the developed countries in each and every sector. In sporting activities this is completely low against many countries. Even small countries in the world are good with sporting activities compared to India. This is due to the lack of infrastructure. The government need to give importance and improve the infrastructure for every sports than just focusing on cricket. In recent years change have taken place and maybe in the future India will stand dominant in other sports same as cricket.

India has taken a lot of initiatives to make other sports popular. But the problem is the majority of the Indian public are very interested in cricket and almost nothing else. The majority of them are interested in cricket and if you have them are interested in football. They also play a little bit of hockey. But other than that I don’t think any sport is very popular in India.

~snip~
If we talk about the big market of cricket today then India will be at the top not only in Asia but also in the whole world. India leads the world cricket. ICC is also able to earn maximum revenue from India. In terms of area and population and cricket performance, India now makes a significant contribution everywhere. One of the biggest successful events in cricket today is the IPL. Where world famous players try to play that belongs to only for India. Till to date the world's biggest franchise league in cricket is owned by India.

Yes. India had taken the cricket team in the world by storm when they introduced the IPL. There was nothing like that in cricket so far before the IPL. That is why India currently has the biggest market in cricket ever. And India is also generating the most amount of revenue for ICC.

Pelé and Maradona were finally able to play together in heaven. This is what Pele said on the day Maradona died, this is inevitable.
We have lost two world football legends, it's really a pity, but we are all human and cannot avoid the cycle of birth and death. Everyone will eventually die.
We have many stars and many contemporary football legends, but we only have 1 Pelé, 1 Maradona, and no one can replace their place in our hearts.
I hope heaven will have a soccer field where they can play together, we will never forget you two.
1393  Other / Politics & Society / Re: SBF get prosecuted, Elon got away from laws, why double standard? on: January 02, 2023, 02:09:45 AM
...he took money from users, and investors, used it for his work. And more than that, this was planned in advance and is a conspiracy to take money from customers...

I like what you described here, SBF took money from users in FTX, that’s also what crypto does exactly, we are also going to jail soon, since we are too taking money from someone else. But when we did what Elon did we are not going to jail? Because Elon didn’t take money from someone else. Interesting!

It is true that in the financial market we are taking money from each other, the market does not create money but money from the hands of the weak to the hands of the strong. If SBF doesn't take our money, we will take his money sooner or later. You are right. But if he is smart enough like CZ or Elon to make money by manipulating, then no law can put him in jail, if he is smart enough to circumvent the law. But what he is doing is ridiculous, he openly disregards the law, and they will never forgive anyone who looks down on them. With the government, we couldn't resist but found a way around to live. Elon is succeeding with that formula.
1394  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: January 01, 2023, 04:59:02 PM
But, what will happen is also surely unpredictable because things are changing very quickly in world so many decisions are making mess up like we have in this case as well but most chances things could be improved in near future with Taliban are looking for support which is not coming as they are doing things but as we all now situation is changing in neighbouring country Pakistan hopefully things could be beneficial for India in Afghanistan as well.

India is big country, and now they have ability to lead in Asia as well which is important for the balance of power China is taking few benefits but most chances things could be changed for India as well in Afghanistan, and they will be able to play their positive role in This region which will increase their strategic partnership in Afghanistan, and they will again play their sports in India as well with most chances we will have cricket and soccer in near future.

Obviously, India is one of the largest countries in the world and they do have a really strong manpower base. India has developed into a country that is capable of leading the world in a number of fields. 1395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will you buy more ETH after reading this ? on: January 01, 2023, 01:33:31 PM

I wouldnt put my money on eth in any way. I guess that investors will still be able to make money with, but its potential for dobbling investments I believe it was lost forever. Now that eth abandoned POW and is now fully POS it will become less and less attractive, and soon it may be replaced by something better and decentralized.

I don't quite understand why you think that the transition from POW to POS is a mistake. I believe that in the face of the growing energy crisis in the world, this is a positive change for the entire project in the long run.

ETH's move from POW to POS has absolutely nothing to do with the current energy crisis situation. The upgrade plan of ETH was launched 4 years ago, and after many delays, it was implemented the last year. Many people are skeptical of ETH as it becomes more and more centralized when moving to POS, but it is in ETH's favor. In addition to reducing gas fees, which is the biggest headache for ETH, the upgrade is extremely important for ETH in future block expansion. For ETH, I consider this a desirable upgrade, Vitalik Buterin knows what he is doing best for ETH. It is too early to conclude that ETH is not worth investing in when it is POS, keep in mind that many altcoins still use POW but they are all useless, unable to compete with ETH. If you need a decentralized coin, bitcoin is enough.
I Agree with you, Of course they have made countless of consideration what might happened if they transitioned into POS but at the end they have considered changing from POW to POS given that POW is hindering them and and also their users to make a progression to the project. Gas fees are number one problem with ETH and I'm sure when market gets a lot of traffic, Users are suffering from these ridiculous gas prices that we all consider when making a transaction. There are pros and cons on transitioning to POS and one of them is slowly becoming centralize. But I believe that majority users like gas prices low compared to being decentralized. It's my opinion and please don't compare this token to other coins that has cheap gas prices. ETH has it's own concept behind it.

I don't know how many people will leave ETH when it moves to POS. But I am sure that if ETH gas fees continue to go up, many projects, and many users will soon leave ETH and look for its other competitors. So upgrading ETH to POS I completely agree, although its decentralization will disappear.

Regarding investment, if investing in altcoins, ETH is still my first choice, because so far I have not seen an altcoin worth investing in more than ETH. I also do not believe there will be any altcoin that can replace ETH, it is like bitcoin, and no one can replace it.
1396  Other / Politics & Society / Re: SBF get prosecuted, Elon got away from laws, why double standard? on: January 01, 2023, 01:20:26 PM
I don't understand why you are comparing SBF and Elon together, in my opinion, both are completely different.

SBF has been prosecuted and will soon go to jail for what he did, he took money from users, and investors, used it for his work. And more than that, this was planned in advance and is a conspiracy to take money from customers.

Elon, it's true that he manipulated stocks for his own gain, others would call it dirty, but for the law, he didn't break the law.
I'm not his fan, but what he does can be said to be dishonest in business, but he has never crossed the line of the law, and that is the difference between him and SBF.
1397  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: January 01, 2023, 10:00:10 AM

Hope there will be no problem from Indian government perspective. But if the Afghan government opposes it, that is up to them. Playing here will improve their cricket as well as earn foreign currency. If the Taliban government do not like after knowing these things, I think that is their internal matter. But I think Afghan players will definitely play. No negative atmosphere will be created on this matter. And if it happens, it will be a loss for Afghanistan cricket not for India.

I don't think the Afghan government is going to oppose this idea.

First of all, they have enough problems in the country, they will have to fix those problems first.
Another thing is I do not think that the Afghan government is going to put any restrictions on the players.

Because I believe that they are not going to mind that their players are able to gather experience in such a tough time in the country. And the players will also be able to receive some money by playing the IPL because currently, the situation of cricket in Afghanistan is not good at all. And I absolutely agree that the Afghan players not playing in the IPL is going to be a loss for Afghanistan cricket.

It's not that I dislike Cristiano Ronaldo; it's just that he hasn't played well for quite a while. In the course of a player's career, his form declines, he sits on the bench, and he then plays outside of European football for a couple of years. As Ronaldo, this feels more than just a story about him securing a salary that would suit his view of himself as the greatest footballer.

After being rejected by every giant club in Europe, it is a cruel irony of fate. Thanks to Cristiano, the entire world will pay attention to Al Nassr and the Saudi League.

Cristiano Ronaldo has not performed as well as he should have over the past year. There is no way to deny it or sugarcoat it in any way. It was a disappointing performance from Cristiano Ronaldo, and I know that a lot of people are likely to hate me for saying this, but I have no choice but to say it anyway. I don't know whether Cristiano Ronaldo was really deserving of playing for a Champions League team or not. In any case, not with the performance, he was displaying at the time. For him, there was no other choice to make. It seems to me that he has already achieved enough in his life and that this is the right decision he is making at the moment.
1399  Other / Politics & Society / Re: If war starting soon where is the safest locations on: December 31, 2022, 02:45:44 PM
The war between Russia and Ukraine alone shows the terrible impact of the war and if the war between great powers breaks out and they use more modern weapons, I don't think there will be any safe place for us to stay. If we are lucky not to be affected by bombs and bullets, we are also affected by the lack of food, daily food… just thinking about it makes me feel scared. Never expect another great war to happen, it will be the end of the earth.

I think you are right. If a global war happens, there will be no place to hide. It's an illusion that places like Argentina and Chile will be safe. True, they were during the World War II, but not now. The world today is too interconnected and interdependent to have a hope of hiding in some safe place during a global crisis.

World War 2 is just a war of guns and fairly rudimentary weapons, but while World War 3 will be a war with biological, chemical and nuclear bombs. Only a virus like covid can threaten the life of the whole world, it is really impossible to imagine all the other weapons activated at the same time, and what will be left of us as a species.

Anyway, we also hope that the war between Russia and Ukraine will only stop in the two countries, and not spread to other regions like the EU, otherwise, it will undoubtedly spark a third world war.
1400  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russia/Ukraine, Who is to blame? on: December 31, 2022, 02:32:27 PM
The US, EU, Russia, and Ukraine, think about who benefits most in this war. Who has the most profit is the mastermind of this war. Ukraine is the victim, so that we won't talk about them, the EU is in crisis and has the worst inflation in 40 years, Russia is mired in war, and its economy will take decades to recover and catch up with other powers. Finally the US, they are selling Ukraine billions of dollars of weapons, tons of gas, and oil to the EU at exorbitant prices, 4-5 times more expensive than the old price.

It's true that the US benefits the most, but are they really to blame for the war? I wouldn't say so.
The was was started by Putin and he could've ended it at any moment, but he was too proud and mislead by his generals who thought Ukraine was weak and they could launch a special forces assault on Kiev and take the parliament and presidential palace. Unfortunately the plan failed when their best soldiers were ambushed and wiped out by Ukrainians. There were many times to negotiate but Russians were to proud to take a step back and now that so much blood has been spilled it's much harder to reach consensus.

IMO it's great that NATO supplied Ukraine. What would you expect them to do? I hate bullies and Russia is a one of the biggest bullies in the world. Definitely the biggest one in Europe.

The US not only reaped huge profits from war, if viewed fairly, The US benefits in all aspects. In addition to the profits from selling weapons and energy, the unprecedented advantage is that they have succeeded in migrating Russia into the war because they have always considered Russia their number one military opponent. The fact that Russia is mired in war will make the Russian economy go back several decades and difficult to recover in a short time, when the economy goes down, everything will become slow.
Previously they were ready to punish any country that bought weapons from Russia, and now they have no rivals in the arms market.
