241  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can I make my own signature and use it on bitcointalk freely? on: March 29, 2024, 03:41:19 PM
Can you please explain what does it mean “make sure it is legit” as I see most of the signatures is about casinos, so not sure that it is legit. But anyway, thanks for the answer, really appreciate that Wink
"Legit" by means it is not a scam project you are directly or indirectly promoting on your signature space. Because if it's scam, you will bare the consequences.

Take note that there are restrictions on characters that you can put in the signature based on your rank so you can't wear signature with more characters. You can read here[1]. Newbie signature characters is limited to 50 characters only.

242  Other / Meta / Re: Request for a Latex plugin on: March 28, 2024, 11:56:31 PM
We could make our own custom mod? Although I am no expert on SMF software but there could be a possible solution.
Yes, that's the perks of an open source software — particularly a forum software. I don't know if theymos did make a documentation of everything he made like what i mentioned (trust, merit, flag, etc.) for open source community to be forked, used and improved.

And yes, those are possible, but with a limited developer (theymos and PowerGlove) and demands from the community i don't think it will be developed too soon.
243  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sam Bankman Fried (scam banker fraud) 25 years on: March 28, 2024, 11:22:44 PM
I just hope that other people like him would learn from him, but it seems like scammers don't care about what has happened to the previous scammers, but they will still continue as long as they have not been caught. I am happy that Justice has been done to SBF.
These kind of people (big time scammers) are often have exit plans, it just it never work on Bankman, he is too obvious for that to not get an attention. Any businesses with frauds should be given punishment like this so people will unlikely to imitate them.
244  Other / Meta / Re: Request for a Latex plugin on: March 28, 2024, 10:55:12 PM
edit: there seems to be a mod for the SMF software: https://custom.simplemachines.org/index.php?mod=4077
This mod is only available on smf forum version 2 above. This forum is still on 1.1XX version and knowing there are lots of custom modifications added on this forum like trust, flag, merit, more on security, i don't think it will be easy just add it on here.

About the implementation, i don't think there will be enough trend of users who will use it, so this request will be probably be dumped by theymos just like those other requests.
245  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Freelancers to hire: Coinlancer.net. Anyone? on: March 28, 2024, 10:29:17 PM
What I can see is that they are service providers. It's not like a freelancing service where you can get any service from a lot of individuals.
I guess that's what OP wants to say, a service provider that consists of freelancers — as a team though, and that is the site he mentioned. It sounds like new to me. If asking about experience, only crypto project owners and managers can say that, hiring such team requires budget and security as they are new, better to have an escrow when dealing with them.
Their website name is a bit familiar as there is an existing project to it (.com), and its looks not a good choice using that the same name, only with different domain extension (.net)

247  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are you still holding on: March 28, 2024, 10:12:54 PM
Bitcoin Core (full node wallet)
Passport (hardware wallet)
Trezor (hardware wallet)
Samourai (mobile wallet)

But for holding, it is better use cold wallet for high amount of coins. Cold wallets like Electrum wallet on airgapped device. Or go for hardware wallet like Passport.
This is also good to note that HW is like an investment as it holds price too, Passport will be the most expensive one to buy, while electrum is the easy-to-go wallet that can be used for just like any other HW in an airgapped environment if an old pc is available.
I'm using electrum in an non-airgapped device yet never experience any hacking of malicious attacks, it's just a matter of good practices while using the device.
248  Other / Meta / Re: Disabling Notification on Topic Tracking on Bitcointalk Supernotifier Bot on: March 27, 2024, 08:47:44 PM
The answer above is correct and is pretty self-explanatory when using any telegram bot. I suggest you to explore that bot first before asking your next question related to it. Plus, you can ask directly to the thread instead of creating one.
249  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Minimum deposit on: March 27, 2024, 08:39:41 PM
...knowing that i contacted customer service (their service was very slow) and what they said was that i couldn't recover my money.

so for beginners here, pay attention to the minimum deposit on your exchange because it may change according to the exchange's policies.
If this is already on theirs and the cons of sending below the required amount then there's no way for you to recover it. I hope the amount is just small for you to consider it as a donation to them instead.

As for every deposits in any platform, it's best thing to do is always go to deposit page and check the deposit wallet address, i'm sure the minimum required amount is always mentioned there.
250  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Monitoring sequence of btc transactions on: March 27, 2024, 04:30:24 PM
Better to explain this in private to the escrow you will choose on the threads mentioned below. I'm sure the chosen escrow can think what's the best things to do. You can direct PM them if who are currently available.

If you still need escrows then here are some threads

1.Recommended bitcointalk escrow services
2.Few Trusted Escrow Providers
251  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: satoshi? hacker? who? on: March 27, 2024, 12:10:54 AM
These 50 BTCs came from genesis coins which were from 2010 that first mining rewards. This coins might be from OG miners who are also once or still active in this forum, or probably Satoshi himself but doubt its the latter. As there are many cases that those coins address from 2010 are moved out and also signed way back before.
252  Other / Meta / Re: Reasons of be inactive on: March 26, 2024, 11:40:38 PM
Many people have different reasons to take a break from the forum. The forum is an online platform which is far different from the real world. Many people are facing many things without our consent. The case of Leo who has been battling a deadly disease for over a decade without our knowledge. When he finally opened up, we were all surprised. I will not be wrong to say that there are other persons here suffering same fate.

Some people take break to face their relationship. Some take break because of work and many other reasons. That is why we see people in active campaigns and yet take break from the forum.
Indeed, too many reasons to mention. The reason of OP too shallow, but its a good to say that what OP's thinking is this forum is only for campaigns — just to earn. Where there are great posters — the OGs here are still posting with great contribution while not in campaign which contradicts what the OP said.
253  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ~~~When did you first heard about bitcoin 2024 Halving edition~~ on: March 26, 2024, 02:14:55 PM
First heard bitcoin on 2016, where most newbies where fond of using faucets, cloud minings lol and typical bitcoin doubler like ponzis. Well there are lots of them and high paying faucets. I remember i can earn 0.02 btc just for faucets for 3-5 days. It was a gold old days earning and stacking bitcoins.

255  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Upon the death of a bitcoin user. on: March 25, 2024, 11:56:42 PM
Those money in banks are distributed to debts and taxes of the dead person if there is any, then distributes the remaining to the heirs.
While people who have bitcoins, if the seed and/or private keys are not shared to any of its heirs or in safe place, it's good to say that it was lost forever. That's why saving those important things such as seeds and private keys offline is the most important thing, for safety, then the inheritance it may give to the bereaved family.
256  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What Becomes of Gambling if Sport book is taken away. on: March 25, 2024, 11:25:20 PM
Just as the title stated, what do you think will becomes of gambling enirly if we wake up one morning to the news of global banning of football,  or a country ban it citizens from participating in football both as a game and also a sport.

Do you think gambling/casinos will lose it popularity since chunk number of their clients are from sport bookies section?
It's a big loss of the football community, the fans, the players and big business behind it. While people on gambling will just move on about it, although it has impact but not as big as the loss of the football community. Gamblers will just try the same things on other sports where to bet, just like the old days of a typical gamblers and typical gambling games.
257  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Back again on: March 25, 2024, 11:11:30 PM
I would like to know how people typically manage to balance their offline and online work, and how I can adjust to this.
I can't give experience into that as i'm also a WFH employee so i can manage being active here. The only thing is i have to do things in my home which is the only thing that makes me tired that i need to time manage, it's tiring at first you will be used to it.
258  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin a scam on: March 24, 2024, 11:55:57 PM
It's an internet magic money, you can't force them to know and learn how things are going on why it has value and why there are lots of users, businesses (small and big) and even big personalities international used them and have interest on them.
Those kind of minds have nothing but stuck only on fiat system, or they know nothing about money, or i say dinosaur thinking.
259  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: esportsbet.io scam for 59mBTC/3860$ on: March 24, 2024, 11:48:17 PM
I passed KYC, my status at the moment on website is "Approved" after that I requested withdrawal but they rejected it again and started asking for things that are not even described in their ToS. However so far I already provided everything but they keep rejecting my withdrawals..
..
Additional Notes:
My account is in good standing in my opinion, Most bets were place on Tier1 matches, I have 0 suspictious matches in my history and they on the one day after winnings bigger amount set manually Clean Turnover score to 1/10 which prevent account to withdraw balance
So this is your first time to withdraw then experience such things.

Unfortunate there are lots of users who experience the same thing with you aside from the scam accusation threads mentioned above, there are also from reddit[1][2]

260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: End Goal or Keep HODLing? on: March 24, 2024, 09:36:22 PM
If things are going south no need to keep holding because you will just regret it. That's the experience many got on the last 2017 ATH. I hope people learn that way already. If you're came holding from 50k below, i expect you already profit some on the ATH this month. But if you came holding from 60k, it's okay to hold but just like i said learn how to let got, but so far price is keep pushing upwards again.
