Gold is an inert, reasonably malleable, metal, made special by its shininess and humanity's magpie tendency. A bitcoin is 100,000,000 satoshi and each satoshi represents one entry on the worlds first trustless decentralised ledger, we value the ownership of those entries in USD terms. Bitcoin is very different to gold and in the long run may turn out to have vastly more use cases and therefore be highly superior - right now you are buying the discounted value of those future use cases - decide for yourself whether that value is to high or to low and invest accordingly , but don't confuse Bitcoin with gold or even link them , you are comparing apples and moon dust.

Regarding TX fees, is it really such a huge problem? It's barely used as a currency as of now.
There are scaling solutions obviously so in the future, it's not a worry.
People see Bitcoin more as a store of value, for them higher fee's is not a major problem. Of course that needs to be fixed for lower tx. Then people are wrong - the chain that succeeds will be the one with the most utility, focusing on store of value will see Bitcoin replaced by a younger fitter prettier model. Store of value is all that matters for the forseeable future. Bitcoin will not be replaced in our lifetime. If Bitcoin does not "succeed" then you can be sure that no other chain will replace it, the concept of crypto currency will have failed. The best that any alt coin can hope for is to fill a specific niche. Sorry to rain on you but have to disagree, this is bitcoin/blockchain and things move quickly, if Bitcoin doesn't develop and evolve and add utility to its bag of tricks it will be replaced just like any other organism or technology. Bitcoin % of market cap is below 50% and the trend is one way at the moment. How much importance will people place on Bitcoin as a store of value when it's <30%, <20%, <10%? The money goes through Bitcoin to other crypto at the moment, but the bulk of new money is going to other coins right now because they have the usecase propositions not Bitcoin. One upside is that the big gainer of the last few days is cripple, and that tells us that the people investing don't understand the difference between a distributed and a decentralised ledger and still think a walled garden is a viable proposition on the internet. |

Think about May 2016, price at Stamp was $450, so thats 4x in a year, so another doubling by November, and another by next May -> $7500 Or not..... EDIT - not the current BTC strength (in USD terms) could be more to do with USD weakness...... |

Isn't the whole point of blockchain technology that ledger, payment method and clearing method are one and the same?
By using Bitcoin to transact via the decentralised trustless network we eliminate the need for central clearers (visa, MasterCard,Amex etc) and the need for third party bag holders - be they banks or third party wallet holders (coinbase, blockchain, whoever). Enabling peer to peer value transfer, increasing transactional capacity increases bitcoins utility and increasing utility and two way transactional flow will over time increase its value and stability far more than maintaining an artificial transactional cap.

Now think back to 2009-10. If you'd said that bitcoin was going to be over $1700, anyone in their right mind back then would think that's "the moon". And now here we are. So I think we're already there. People expecting to go to the moon from where we're at don't realize we're there already.
In recent times when I was talking to my friend, he asked why bitcoin is divisible up to 8 digits and the basic unit satoshi seems practically no value even with prices at ~$1800 ? All the currencies and even gold also are having only 2 decimal digits and their basic unit is being used everywhere as it has some value. Like capped supply and scheduled halving, the basic unit satoshi is also determined as one in ten-millionth to be supporting bitcoin to have huge values. In future, we may have one satoshi will be valuing one US cent or even one dollar. When the basic unit achieves to have some buying power, we may assume we have landed on moon. Gold is actually measured in weight - not $$ and can be subdivided down into atoms at its smallest component, the value of 1 atom of gold is significantly lower than the value of 1 satoshi , which is as it should be as there are significantly more gold atoms than there are satoshi. |

Bitcoin died again  Seriously though the panic from noobs & inexperienced bitcoin'ers is embarrassing when there is a mini dump. I'd understand if the price plummeted $500 over night but come on  Let's hold off panicking until the price drops to around $250 |

Beginning to wonder how many coins might be "trapped" in China in the hands of people who can't access foreign banks and exchanges and whether that's messing up supply, driving up the price in the west.
Then there's Japanese demand.

Just buy a little bit every week/month and average in, treat it as monthly savings and come look at the price in 2027 and see if it was smarter than buying stocks.

Litecoin will go parabolic before BTC moons again.
I expect Bitcoin to go moon again at the end of april/or at the first days of may. I dont see litecoin going parabolic. It seems like a bulltrap. Lots of really really old litecoins are finally getting dumped by forgotten hodlers. Make no mistake. Must be a typo here to, if you were expecting the dump to be the end of April not March, guess this means the exponential move must be the end of May not April? |

By the next halving..... don't rush it - price has doubled since October it needs more consolidation above $1000 before we can push higher and stay there

BTC price has to get managed downwards so those pumping the altcoins can get out of their altcoins and back into BTC , maximise their killing.

Pretty much inline with stamp and finex..
Can't log into coinbase to buy with the fiat I parked there earlier today in order to take advantage of just this outcome...... feckers |
