241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's Case As A Hedge Asset Continues To Grow on: August 31, 2020, 09:46:41 PM

However that doesn't make bitcoin not an asset or a hedge.  The US dollar is both an asset and a hedge.  It's traded in markets daily etc..just like bitcoin.  Just because it's price continues to rise, does not mean that's what makes it an asset.  An asset is anything with value technically.

No doubt with this, I agree your statement. I will say bitcoin is an asset because you can invest in it and profit or have lose but one good thing about investing in bitcoin more than altcoins is that even at loses, you can recover by hodling, it can take time but you can get some amount back when price increase.
242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I like to collect the token on: August 31, 2020, 08:03:02 PM

Do you think this is a crazy hobby?

Not a crazy hubby but keeping more value coin translate to financial gain. Keeping coin not listed or are shit coin isn't a good hubby. I keep coins too but not preferring to hodl shit coins
243  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Electrum update: A trader lost 1400 BTC on: August 31, 2020, 06:51:34 PM
I doubt Electrum has anything to do with this scam! The person was probably using a compromised wallet .exe file. See what he says,

Quote
I had 1,400 BTC in a wallet that I had not accessed since 2017. I foolishly installed the old version of the electrum wallet. My coins propagated. I attempted to transfer about 1 BTC however was unable to proceed. A pop-up displayed stating I was required to update my security prior to being able to transfer funds.

I installed the update which immediately triggered the transfer of my entire balance to a scammers address.

So I suggest you to change the subject line of your thread as it seems that Electrum itself did such scam!

I read this well informed piece. Nice @ avitz for sharing this. And Op has to adjust the title of this thread. He or she is yet to do that

IMO, the title and body isn't approximate on electrum.
244  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Investment plan on: August 31, 2020, 05:37:05 PM
a pretty good choice in my opinion, but for now I am more focused on investing in BTC and ETH, because these two coins are a benchmark for the ups and downs of the cryptocurrency market

For the profit, I think there are other good coin available that are looking good to hodl. I have been reading of avalanche, dia and again cartesi. This is not an investment advise but a proper research can be helpful.
245  Economy / Speculation / Re: History shows Bitcoin price may take 3-12 months to finally break $20K on: August 30, 2020, 10:39:57 PM
I dont think bitcoin can reach 20k in the current future it will remain stuck in the 11/10k range

At least you already seen that price is above $10/11. This is to show that the price of bitcoin is unstoppable. Whatever controls the price is still what many don't understand.
246  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Yearn.Finance (YFI) hits $28k on: August 30, 2020, 08:27:40 PM
hopefully all win get their profit

I will think this is a trap for so many who will run into this hype for quick profit. The pump is on for the risk takers but it is better to wait and see how the move is going because everybody seem to wonder.
247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Aave: Easy Come, Easy Go? on: August 29, 2020, 04:15:00 PM
And while we are at it, can anyone explain to me what is driving the people who are borrowing coins this way? I've been trying to come up with a single reason what's in it for the borrowers, and still can't wrap my head around it. If you have to provide 200% of collateral, how does all that make sense?

Seriously, what's the point?

I think loan serve the purpose of help. Someone might not have money to buy such and can go into loan platform to grow the amount given. It is same as loaning cash IMO to repay back with additional interest.
248  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Don't invest for quick gains only on: August 28, 2020, 09:00:37 PM
Altcoins are not really good for the long term, I invested a lot of altcoins in 2018 but they did not yield too many good results. The price has dropped several times and now those projects are completely dead and there aren't any updates. If you want to be safe in the long term, you should invest in Bitcoin and ETH

You have narrated the experience of many but you can't keep looking at the past or your investment that didn't grow and then you don't move forward by trying to reinvest. 2018 wasn't a good year for cryptocurrency investment but this year and more years to come can be better. The projects that Op listed can make it longer.
249  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Research and Experience, There’s No Other Way! on: August 28, 2020, 05:09:49 PM

Experience and knowledge are the best thing that we could have in order to be successful.

In all spheres , I believe that being successful knowledge is key because it is  about information you have to apply and with time on it, experience is gained. This is what the newbies are facing in bitcoin today. They are more confused, reading on the forum help.
250  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Patience above all will be rewarded here on: August 27, 2020, 05:22:42 PM
Many fail when investing in Bitcoin, because they are too focused on making instant profit. Even though the key to successful
investing in Bitcoin is to have patience, without patience only losses can be obtained. Even investors with low knowledge and
skills can successfully invest in Bitcoin with just being patient.

Patient and low risk is the way to be successful in business. A low risk investor has a long way to stay in the market but if you get impatient to take big risk because of big profit, you are likely to go out of market faster.
251  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your Biggest Crypto Regret? on: August 26, 2020, 09:28:17 PM
also the next one of the list was wasting so much time in useless bounties that at the end didn't pay nothing.

This is also one regret for me. But how can you know a bounty that will scam you? I did lots of such and they are more scamming than paying. Those were the newbie days on the forum  Grin
252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Need Exchange Info on: August 24, 2020, 11:33:32 PM
Total Noob here.

From what I can glean off of the limited info on buying/trading info out there, and maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places, but it seems I will need about 20 different exchanges with 20 different passwords and 20 different wallets with 20 different passwords to buy/trade the coins

I should say to you that you don't need as much exchanges to buy a coin. Some exchanges have loads of crypto to buy from especially the big and well known exchanges like kucoin, binance,
253  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin might never reach it's ATH anymore on: August 24, 2020, 06:57:12 PM

Everything that has honey the bees will go there..

Your conclusion speaks it all here. Bitcoin is like honey and it attracts its lovers. Not everybody loves bitcoin, so investing in it is a choice. Everybody wants a better life and investing in bitcoin isn't greed. Investment can be profitable or you lose too. Some lost when bitcoin got ATH.
254  Economy / Economics / Re: Pandemic Coronvirus Impact On Global economy on: August 24, 2020, 03:53:51 PM
Coronavirus open the door for the decentralized economy? Please justify your answer. Cool

I say it could be an opening and my reason is because the way to avoid covid-19 is to avoid touching of affected substance and money which is a physical substance is likely to be a transmitting way. This makes buying and selling affected because money is used for payment.
255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Become Universal Money? on: August 23, 2020, 09:45:46 PM
It is possible that  someday all country accept Crypto Currency and it will become Universal Money?

I don't think it is going to be easy to take off fiat from human life to be replaced by cryptocurrency. Cryptocurrency has some challenges that fiat makes it more easier because you have the details with a third party which is bank but cryptocurrency security or password is easy you can lose it and that is gone for life.
256  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain solution for Pension system of Primary school teachers of Bangladesh on: August 23, 2020, 06:31:07 PM
This is a good news. I think such collaboration is what is needed at the moment for cryptocurrency rather than trying to disregard crypto because cryptocurrency is a financial revolution taking over soon. As we know that we have different project now trying to have a crypto payment system which will make financial transaction easier.
257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto currency is all about Hodling. on: August 22, 2020, 01:20:15 PM

Most people that has been able to take profit from crypto currency trade or investment are those that have mastered the act of hodling.

But some people have complained bitterly about their experience with hodling. Hodling though is more profiting if it is a crypto your or a time that price will pick a new ATH.
258  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what new coins are promising? on: August 22, 2020, 12:44:07 PM
I think the best new coins/token that is very promising as of the moment are those with decentralized financing platform because if are always updated to crypto world you will know the hype of these tokens.

I think DIA is making the market really volatile. It might be a good project for investing. It is now being listed newly and traders are creating trading volume.
259  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good news on: August 21, 2020, 04:31:39 PM
Here is a question for you guys out there, if one did not buy at 4K, why on earth would someone buy at 12k, that would be plain idiocy.

I think it is simply readiness and conviction to buy based on the buyer's analysis. If your indicators to analyse market price tells you it is good to buy now that price is around $12,000, I think I will follow that if it is the right thing to di at this time.
260  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hello everyone! Do you still have confidence in altcoin? on: August 21, 2020, 01:43:10 PM
Whales always have a big part to play in every altcoin seasons, I believe that once Bitcoin hits a new ATH they opt out and invest in altcoins and that's when altcoins season starts, it's still good to hold few altcoins but I just prefer IEO profits

This could be the whales pumping the altcoins then but I think often times, altcoins like etheruem also follow in the bitcoin rise as soon that the bull run start and only few altcoins are left behind.
