Use trixx to undervolt them. In settings tick the option force constant voltage. It is normal to see a lower value in gpu-z than the one you set on trixx.

My first guess was one of your gpus died. But 75C is a good temp, so I'm not so sure about that now.

But yes you may be underpowering them and the reason the 1020 watts psu died is just because it was faulty. Also some psus don't have the same power as advertised, I haven't checked your model, but reading a good review that tests the psu on full load for a long time can help you see the psu performance.

Another option would be that the rail the gpus where connected didn't support that power draw. That if the psu doesn't have a single rail for its 12v outputs.

Or if you mixed up the power connectors from 2 psus into one gpu it may cause one psu to discharge on the second one. It can also provide 2 different voltage to the gpu and that can make it unstable.

Also I understand the efficiency works the other way around. A 90% efficient psu will spend more electricity at the wall than a 80% one.  So if you are drawing 1550w at the wall the  rig is drawing 1395w (1550*.9). A good psu should be able to run at full load if room temp is below 40 C.

You should test how much each psu is drawing individually to check none are getting overpowered. You should also log the voltage in gpu-z to see if the voltage supply is stable or it oscillates to dangerous values.

You are correct I was completely backwards on the calcs, efficiency is how much power it needs to draw from the wall to achieve the wattage rating!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/80_Plus

Have a read there to understand rating and efficiency.

Just because a Power Supply "says" it's a 1050 watt 80 plus gold means that the power on whatever rail is rated at the wattage stated for your HX1050 it is actually rated at 12v@87.5A which = 1050 watts.  So far so good.  Next 80+ gold means that at 50% load the power supply will achieve 90% efficiency or .9*1050 = 945 watts at FULL 100% load it will achieve .87*1050 = 913.5 watts.  These are the rates the specific power supplies have been "Certified and tested" to operate at.  Can they do more than that?  Yes some are better than others, but the 80+ rating is all that is guaranteed from a manufacturer

Stats on the HX1050
+3.3V@25A, +5V@25A, +12V@87.5A, -12V@0.8A, +5VSB@3A
80 PLUS GOLD Certified

Percentage of rated load    20%   50%   100%
80 Plus Gold               87%   90%   87%

247  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Dual PSU rig, one PSU dies for no reason! on: February 27, 2014, 02:02:03 PM
I'm going to guess your power supplies are under powered.  The HX1050?  I think you said 1020, but didn't see that model the HX1050 has 1050 watt on the 12v at 88% efficiency is 924 watts.  IF the cards are in fact pulling near 300 watt each and the 2 PSUs are BOTH plugged into the motherboard it will also be drawing power from the 2nd power supply.  That being the case you are drawing more than the PSUs can steadily supply.  You said nearly 1550 at the wall 2 850 watt gold rated is 90% efficiency is 1530 watt.  I think you're under powered!

district PM'd you.

Diamond 6970 - detects by both win and bamt will mine for a second then lock up showing a negative temp reading?
Radeon Ref 5870 - fan drilled and oiled - detects in win and bamt - will mine for a few minutes then rate drops to 0

Those 2 cards install in windows7 and display picture fine have used them for basic browsing and such while attempting different drivers etc. attempting to mine with them.  I can't say what function they are capable of above displaying windows basics though.

Pm'd cannachris back.

I am willing to work on price on the rigs within reason, but unless someone speaks for a rig and doesn't want to purchase ALL the cards in it then I do not want to sell the cards by themselves at this time.

3 BTC shipped in the US for everything?

I believe even if it did fit the grounds/voltage are in the wrong spots on a PCIe connector.  I used the adapter above for my 1 PSU that does not have a the P4 connector.

This is 1 lot of cards as is .15 BTC or $75

Prices listed do NOT include shipping and are given for close to current value; use the USD price to calc at payment time coinbase or preev pricing.
Wanting to ship to the US only will use USPS flat rate with insurance.
Have done multiple trades with solid trust history, but if required can use trusted escrow understanding this is mining hardware and as I did the best to describe any issues it can be fickle as many of you know so would prefer escrow be released on deliver and can work with the buyers if they are unhappy or unable to get something to work.
The 3 HP motherboard do not include system fans or USB headers, but they complain on boot about those not being installed so require you to hit F1 on boot.
Edit: forgot to mention the PSUs are larger than standard size.  They have the same bolt pattern to attach to a frame etc, but are longer.

Willing to do a package deal for everything and make me an offer for items shipped. Price and packages will however stay reasonably close to what I'm asking for now.

258  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS Feeler - 4 Budget Scrypt Mining rigs/farm - 3MHs stable - 4+MHs possible on: February 21, 2014, 02:16:10 PM
Would there be more interest if I sold 3 rigs with 3 cards each and a 4th setup with the cards that have issues?  I have got messages asking for pieces parts, but I'd rather not part out 1 card at a time if possible.
259  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB]: Gpu Rigs on: February 20, 2014, 01:52:54 PM
Radeons
6790 - 200KHs - installed different fan after old one locked - mines fine
6850 - 230KHs - mines for undetermined amount of time sometimes days sometimes hours then goes to 510* and quits - consider this one failing, but possibly fixable?  I did recently reapply heat sink paste and it still happens
5830 - 260KHs - different fan installed on the open heat sink - mines fine - have an extra unopened arctic accelero mono fan, but with the clip on fan that's on it it runs cooler than my other cards so I just left it.
5830 - 260KHs
5850 - 400KHs - arctic accelero mono fan
6870 - 300KHs - This card is troublesome - sometimes mines fine sometimes causes display driver to crash in windows and cgminer must be restarted multiple times to work.  It seems better with some drivers than others, but consider this one failing
6870 - 300KHs
6870 - 310KHs - arctic accelero dual fan cooler
7850 - 330KHs
6950/6970 - 430 KHs
6970 - 430KHs? - This one mines for a few seconds then goes to a negative temp and quits?
5870 - 400KHs? - this one I never go working correctly it detects and will run for a short period in BAMT and just slowly drops to no KHs

IF everything were fixed and working with minimal overclocking and tweaking this setup would push 4MHs, but due to issues with a few of the cards noted above It's currently around 2.5-3MHs consistently pushes higher than that while I play with the other cards.  The above noted speeds with the exception of the 5850 are non-overclocked speeds.

Have a few other cards that I consider dead 2 are 5800 series bare cards that have no fans/heat sinks that aren't detected by the OS I will have to check the model on the other, but it artifacts and locks the system when you try to mine.

Systems - The HP Boards complain about no USB or System fans connected so you MUST hit F1 on startup to boot those 3 - unless you shorted the pins or installed USB headers and fans these need manual intervention after reboot or power outage.
1 - HP XW4300 motherboard - 1 full size, 1 8x, 1 1x - 2 Gig Ram (4 512 sticks) - socket 775 cpu
2 - HP DC5800 motherboard - 1 full size, 2 1x - all 2 gig ram (4 512 sticks) - socket 775 cpu - 1 of these boards to be delivered tomorrow
1 - MSI - Will get model but 2 full size and 2 1x slots - will get specs on this system

PSUs - These are Delta Electronics/solid PSUs - they are LARGER than standard power supplys, but same bolt pattern...
3 XW9400 Workstation PSUs 800 Watt
1 XW9600 Workstation PSU 1050 Watt

There are 4 complete setups with room for a few newer or different cards if you're unable to get the "faulty" cards working between the 4 boards there are 13 pcie slots with 12 cards that boot and are detected in the systems with 4 cards that do mine to a point, but have issues.  There are also 3 cards included 2 that don't detect and 1 that artifacts and wouldn't mine the last time I tested it.

I would be willing to work with a trusted escrow with payment on delivery understanding that some of these cards have issues etc.  Shipping will be pretty expensive for all of this and if you would be willing to help up front with shipping maybe .2 btc that would be great.

So 4 complete working motherboards, processors, power supplies, memory, power switches, and risers + video cards described above.

4.3 BTC in escrow .2 up front to help shipping you pay Escrow fees with trusted escrow I will also "tip" the escrow.  Escrow Released on Delivery?

260  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: BitBurner Fury Question on: February 18, 2014, 06:05:14 PM
have not yet tried the double dash will do tonight but I have 3 boards 16 bitfury 2 at 100ghs and one at 42 ghs do i enter it like this    115200:96:10:50:256

Thanks for your help

Yes from the cgminer 3.4 readme:

eg:
--avalon-options 115200:24:10:45:282

The values are baud : miners : asic count : timeout : frequency.

Baud:
The device is pretty much hard coded to emulate 115200 baud so you shouldn't
change this.

Miners:
Most Avalons are 3 module devices, which come to 24 miners. 4 module devices
would use 32 here.

Asic count:
Virtually all have 10, so don't change this.

Timeout:
This is how long the device will work on a work item before accepting new work
to replace it. It should be changed according to the frequency (last setting).
It is possible to set this a little lower if you are trying to tune for short
block mining (eg p2pool) but much lower and the device will start creating
duplicate shares.
A value of 'd' means cgminer will calculate it for you based on the frequency

Sample settings for valid different frequencies (last 2 values):
34:375 *
36:350 *
39:325 *
43:300
45:282 (default)
47:270
50:256

Frequency:
This is the clock speed of the devices. Only specific values work, 256, 270,
282 (default), 300, 325, 350 and 375.

Note that setting a value with an asterisk next to it will be using your
avalon outside its spec and you do so at your own risk.
