241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DAG]CyberVein--A Data Value Monetisation Platform Based on DAG on: May 14, 2018, 06:01:54 PM
Many newbie warning.
I asked them a question here a week ago and they haven't responded. They keep posting their propaganda here instead of answering real questions. They are China based and as you probably know, CCP is tough on ICOs and stuff like that so I asked if they are familiar with current policies of their land and if they have any back up plans like shifting their bases or something like that. No response so far. I know they are afraid of CCP but they could give us some hint.

This subject needs to remain on top. As a warning to greedy devs.

Sounds like GPU miners like yourself are the greedy ones?

Another ASIC dog unmasked "cryptotore"
Bitcointalk:

"Hi,
I would like some help with a design to sound proof 10-20 Antminer S9's.
I've been searching but havent really found any good threads on it, hope its ok I create a new one.
This is my goal:
-Be able to run 10-20 S9 in my garage without bothering the neigbours."

"Got 6x S7 coupons valued at 0.05 BTC each available for sale.
0.025 each
0.12 for all"

Why dont you go, and start and support a ASIC coin  - SOB.

And YES i will proudly say I am nice size GPU miner and I supported a lot of projects since 2012 with donations to devs and to list coins on exchanges. Also, as for many here mining is my hobby. I dont drink, smoke or party and money is not the most important think in my life. in blockchain i see future for better world. where a GPU owner/miner in afrika or asia could provide for his family without sale his kidney to a greedy F...k like you.
WHAT DID YOU DO TO THE CRYPTO COMMUNITY, BESIDE PROFITING OF COINS, THAT OTHER MEMBERS OF THIS FORUM SUPPORTED FROM THE BEGINING?

So because he mines with ASICs hes a bad person?

P.S. Its actually cheaper for someone in a third world country to buy and run an ASIC than it is to build a MUCH MORE expensive GPU system that requires paying 4-5x the amount of import duties and makes less profit. Maybe you should spend less time dreaming of a better world and more time paying attention to the reality of this one. So you can proudly say you are a GPU miner even though it is meaningless at least you can pat yourself on the back. You have no fundamental grasp of how mining works yet you come here talking shit to someone with more skin in the game that you can ever afford to have.

The stupidity in this thread is overwhelming.
So you are saying that Asics are custom duty free ? For third world countries GPU mining is even more important. Asics are not available in retail shops like gpus are. Even in a small third world nation's small town you can go and easily buy a gpu but not the same case with Asics. Many Asian countries have informally banned Asics from entering the country, they seize them in customs but how would you know. Living in first world comfort zone and talking about third world problems.

Gpu mining is democratisation of mining and prevents crony capitalism. Any Govt. can officialy ban ASICs easily and no one would care but they can never ban GPUs as it has many uses in different industries and a only a tiny minority use it for cryptocurrency mining.

244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is this setup safe ? (Molex to Pcie adapter and satas...) on: May 14, 2018, 10:01:05 AM
My galax 1050ti EXOC requires a single 6pin for power. So with 2 of these cables I can power 6 gpus from 4 PCIe cables.

Yeah, that's what I mean. With that splitter (at your link), you were splitting 6pins PCIe (75 W), Will be better to split 8 pins (150 W) to 2 x 6 pins, safer.

Yes but all of the 8 pin to two 6 pin or 6+2 pin adapter says that 8 pin is made to go in modular PSU or something like that, maybe you are right.

The one that I mean is PCIe splitter 8 to 6 or 8 to 8 (6+2). Something like this:

You can use it to powering your cards, safer since you splitting 8 pins PCIe.
Which one will be better dual 6+2 or dual 6pin only. I can find 8 pin to dual 6+2 easily.

EDIT : looks like this is just the thing I need. Should I get 8 pin to dual 6+2 pin or 8 pin to dual 6 pin. Will 6+2 pin cause any problem ?

Cause I can find a 8 pin to dual 6+2 pin easily.
246  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is this setup safe ? (Molex to Pcie adapter and satas...) on: May 14, 2018, 09:27:54 AM
EACH of my PSU has 4*8(6+2).
This is my PSU - http://store.antec.com/earthwatts-gold/earthwatts-gold-pro-750w.html

That's better than what I thought

Sorry I don't have the same cards with yours, are you cards using 6 pins power PCIe?

if it's true,

The product at your link is 6 Pin to 2 x 8 Pin (6+2), Will be better using 8 pins to 2 x 6 Y splitter.

I am already using the setup I mentioned above for past 2 days but this looks better.
248  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hash Rate List From Main Video Cards And Algorithm on: May 13, 2018, 11:35:22 AM
All of these stats are withou OC.

My 1050ti gives 15.93 mh (ethash). It is a good card.
1050ti with oc dualfan can get more 15 mhs if memchip samsung

My rig using 1050ti zotac amp edition and get 16-17mhs
Hello friend, late reply but can you tell me which OS, miner, pool & OC settings you use ?

I am using HiveOS with ethminer or claymore(almost same hashrate) on ethermine.org

My OC setting are +200 Core(but I have noticed that it doesn't make any difference) and memory is 2000 (or +1000 on Afterburner) and 57w power or (75% on Afterburner) .

My card is Galax 1050ti EXOC (2 fans). I think memory chip is Samsung but not 100% sure. Also I can't find AMP edition for 1050ti on the internet.
249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Problem installing updates on windows on: May 13, 2018, 11:13:23 AM
Already using HiveOS for months now, before that I was using SimpleMining OS. HiveOS is good but I recently tried Pheonix miner on my desktop and loved it. Ccminer also work bad in HiveOS.
250  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why even waste your time? on: May 13, 2018, 11:06:52 AM
Haha, dude you miss few very important thing:

- If you a technical person, mining is an awesome experience and lots of fun
- You learn a LOT about different cryptocurrencies, algorythms and so on.
- My mining rigs heating my rooms in winter which spare me heating cost A LOT!
- via mining you are able to decuct electricity and hardware cost from yearly taxing if you own a company, which is a lot
- via mining you support the decentralization of a coin you really beleive

You need a reality check. Nobody mines to support decentralisation of a coin.
251  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hive OS - new Linux GPU mining platform on: May 13, 2018, 06:03:54 AM
I have 10 RX 470 cards with me mate. I really looking to go with the best os for mining. Then I conclude two OS for it. In that one is perfectmine and another one is Hive. I tried to flash both the OS on 32 GB flash drive. I did not get the problem with the perfectmine they are pretty similar option to flash use as mining moniter cum software but this Hive does not respond after I flash it one my pendrive. I do not know what is the issue happening to me mate. No responding from the board end.
Very common problem with me at least. Format the pen drive and reinstall again. Format the pen drive from Command prompt using Diskpart command- list disk-select disk x - clean (use google for more help or ask here). Unzip the zip file with WinZip and use Hdd raw copy tool only. After the software writes the OS on pendrive it will say do you want to format "name of folder" and click No. Works for me. If I format, it gives some error like grub or gets stuck on loading or just "-" blinking.
252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Problem installing updates on windows on: May 13, 2018, 05:54:15 AM
Roll back to your previous windows state

Or use the restore point

Here are other options for windows recovery

https://support.microsoft.com/en-ph/help/12415/windows-10-recovery-options

It's a fresh install on a new ssd. Will try to reinstall again.
253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Problem installing updates on windows on: May 12, 2018, 08:47:07 PM
First time trying win10 for mining, so after downloading some insane amouny of GBs (updates) now it doesn't install them. It gets stuck at preparing to install (in settings -  Updates) in various percentages for hours like at 33%, 78% etc. and finally it somehow completed and then said error retry, something like that. So how do I do this ? I can't even update my gpu drivers from device manager and if I try to install drivers from cd it says the current OS is not supported.
254  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hive OS - new Linux GPU mining platform on: May 12, 2018, 07:35:42 PM
Hi
im using latest hiveos, but i get cpu load is very very high, it slows down the miner and then freeze

How can i solve this problem? I mine with 6 pcs 1070 ti with ccminer enemy miner ravencoin.

thank you!
Same problem. Cpu load is above 10 and most of the time it doesn't report temperature which is a big problem.

Why the complete lack of details?  Huh

Why in the world do you expect help when no details are supplied.

If you want help please answer the following questions:

What miner are you running?

What processor(s) are you using:
Intel, AMD, Type (Xeon, Opteron, i-series, etc) and exact Model/Part Number?
Quantity of processors?

Are/Were you mining on the CPU before this issue?

If you are mining on the CPU then post the CPU mining config file.

12*1050ti on g4400. Never mined using cpu. When the last time I tried to mine rvn on ccminer enemy and some other fork, i got problems like it won't show temperature in hiveos.farm but I could see it through teleconsole. Mining was normal for sometime. Sometime it used to shpw temp. and few moments later it's unavailable, no data from ccminer but rig is online. I could see all the details from teleconsole though and it was mining very good. Then after sometime one of my gpu reached 70C and then I shut it down. Other gpus were roaming around 57-59C. On ver 0.5-49. Will try again tomorrow on the 0.5-50 and see what happens.
255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: DIY FPGA Mining rig for any algorithm with fast ROI on: May 11, 2018, 08:39:45 PM
The way I read this thread is that there are some credible devs looking for a business model that makes their work sustainable and profitable, more profitable than simply mining with their own secret sauce on their own expensive hardware.

There is the 'mining with dev fee' model and the hardware provider model. Both models require popular acceptance and adoption of fpga mining to work. Early adopters take a lot of risk because of the high cost of getting started with fpga mining equipment and missing proof of acceptable ROI.

pollo e huevos ?

It'd be sweet if we had a coin whose proof of work algorithm was fpga and gpu friendly but asic resistant !

They have already developed it long time ago but the biggest problem thay are facing is how monetize it. I read somewhere that with FPGA it will be really easy to bypass claymore style fee. It is really easy to copy the design, something like that.
256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Deception & Misdirection by ZEC co. Forking ASIC Resistance Bitmain Antminer Z9 on: May 11, 2018, 08:33:22 PM
Why don't these devs realise that not only gpu miners are the first users of their coin but they are also their biggest user base at any time. They are all underestimating role of gpu miners which far outnumbers the ASIC miners. They are over confident in their coin's tehnological edge but it doesn't matter if something has space age technology if nobody uses it. New and technologically advance coins will keep on arriving in future but the coin which betrays its community will turn to dust. We miners will just ignore, go over their dead body and move on.
This action is a nail in Zcash's coffin.
257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is Antec HCG-850 good for mining ? on: May 10, 2018, 06:49:05 PM
I dont see any reasons why it should not work for Mining, it provides 840w of total power @ 12v, splitted to two rails of 420w each. You should be able to use it for two Vega 56`s without any problem.

Only worrying thing is its efficiency, but thats only my personal preference to have them as efficient as possible.
You saw the wrong older PSU. This one was released a month ago. It is single rail.
258  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is Antec HCG-850 good for mining ? on: May 10, 2018, 05:32:50 PM
Antec is a normal brand and not a premium one, if you want to have 6 cards go for Corsair HX1200i and if you want 8 cards go for the EVGA G2 1500 watt PSU which has 8 , 6+2 pin PCIE cables for all your needs.

It is always better to start with a low number of cards to test the waters, usually 3-4 and then you can add as you like. This is because with lower number of cards is easier to troubleshoot.
How will a 1500 watt psu alone power 8 high power gpus ?  I like Antec because its service is good. I recently got two new PSUs in exchange for two dead PSU
259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is Antec HCG-850 good for mining ? on: May 10, 2018, 04:10:27 PM
the beast is use two PSU

and i test many PSU

the best is EVGA ( buy and forget )
Two PSU won't work for 6 or 8 high power gpus. Otherwise i'd need 1500w which are very expensive. EVGA are not sold where I live.

Other option are Corsair TX850M OR Corsair CS850M, both are $10 more then Antec.
