Not really sure that can be done, there is however a few of sd card images around web which Bitmain sent officially to someone for purposes of troubleshooting. Try to find it or just join Vnish group on Telegram, Taserz is active there every day, unlike here.

What is the process to revert to Bitmain firmware? I have tried to do this using the standard 'web' method but it doesn't work. It appears to upload the firmware but when the device reboots, it's still the Asic.to firmware. This doesn't appear to be documented in the manual or on the website...

Afaik, you can just use sdcard with original firmware. Not really sure if that is the only option. I cannot remember if I used normal "upgrade" via web or sdcard when I was flashing back my S17 PRO to original after it broke (it broke on original, vnish's firmware helped me use it for couple of months with 2 hashboards but then I decided to RMA it as it was broken before I even touched anything).

Place where I live I can get Solar panel of 3 Kwh for around 1.2K USD.

Would you like to take me in, I am a good cook, I know how to clean the house. I just want to use a part of your Solar power in exchange.

That is so low price compared to my country. Here 3kWh worth of solar panels is ~5.5k EURO...

But to answer your question before phil gives a better answer...
Imho, I'd wait before investing as current gear (for BTC at least) is overpriced and there is a lot less new gear on market.
However, if you are up for using used gear, there is a whole hell of a lot gear on second-hand market and you might find good deals.
244  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Purchased Used T15 on: July 14, 2020, 02:48:13 PM
how do we know the power supply is toast vs in power protection mode?

After it turns off (due to power protection or being toast), when you unplug and leave it for few hours and turn on again, if it runs normally, it went into power protection mode and you are doing something wrong if you caused that.

However, if it does not turn on after few hours of sitting w/o power, it's toast, and it means you've killed it by doing something terribly wrong (like running 240v PSU on 120v).

Stop using your gear on 120v and sell it if you value your money. If you do not, just do what you want but do not blame Bitmain or someone else later for destroying all your PSUs and possibly whole units.

You joined 8 days before him. Odd...

Imagine this conspiracy theory: Kano is actually Taserz and he is doing this as publicity stunt  Shocked Shocked

JK, but yeah, you guys joined almost exactly 2 years after bitcointalk was launched.
246  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Purchased Used T15 on: July 12, 2020, 12:42:52 AM
You beat me to it phil... I was just writing the same answer.

Also, similar problem happened here:

So, feel free to watch that thread sbcal403.
247  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain to release S17E 64TH on: July 12, 2020, 12:20:58 AM
I am not really sure why you quoted mikey and James there but okay...

I am also one of users of asic.to (Vnish firmware) and I also own a couple of different units including one S17e and I looked almost everywhere for firmware for S17e and couldn't find a legit one with actual rep that can be trusted.

Taserz and Vnish (both of them are under Asic.to) are working on it and their ETA for it is "soon" (not to confuse with actual "soon" which is adverb with a meaning: "in or after a short time" as their "soon" can mean months  Smiley ). I really hope they make it as soon as possible as these hot times are sometimes even overheating one of my chips and causing whole unit to go to safe mode (stop mining on all 3 hashboards) and I'd like to avoid that.

[...]

Phil gave you a good answer to this questions. And please, use the code for those big lines of text: [ quote][ /quote] (delete spaces or use chat bubble button when you edit that message).

All the fans are at 100%??? please check that first.

Not sure what's there to check, he either manually put them to 100% (doubt this since his/her knowledge is bad about asics according to questions put by him) or more probable reason is that environment temperature is high and you can see that startup temp is already between 54 and 80 due to Chip Warmup that is happening as well (this cannot be disabled on default firmware) therefore, fans should and will ramp up.

Also, T/S17 gear has good fan curve afaik.
249  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: miner t17+ on: July 09, 2020, 06:00:41 PM
Not sure why are you asking... Do you have any problems with machine? It turns off? Drops hashrate? Anything?

That part of logs ain't really helpful, you should put whole logs if you have any problems.

Temps are a bit higher but since it's July that is understandable. I run mine up to 86 C as above that they usually get damaged since soldering is very bad on those machines.
250  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S15 doesn't power on on: July 09, 2020, 10:42:50 AM
I tried waiting hours before plugging it into the proper 240v plug but nothing. You are correct the S15 does NOT run on 120v and isn't designed to hence the full retard moment this morning.
I pulled it apart and it seems the S15 can't do one board at a te like the S9 because it has a metal bar the connects all the boards at once not individual plugs.
Is there any user reparable parts on the PSU for the S15? I'm handy with a soldering iron, if someone knows where to check volts at I can diagnose the parts.
Or where I can buy a new PSU for the S15 on the cheap preferably.

I think you can still unscrew two boards from those plates and run it with one board.

I had a similar problem like you where my T2TZ wouldn't run at all after one hot night where it just turned off, I opened and inspected everything and it seemed okay, until I fully opened PSU and saw broken part in it (not sure how it is called). I am still yet to repair that PSU. My electrician says that repair can cost between 1USD and 100USD (yeah, I know, rather helpful guy there!) depending on what was damaged. Might be cheaper for you to order a new PSU if phil cannot help you.
251  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S15 doesn't power on on: July 09, 2020, 02:00:16 AM
Try unplugging it for 30min and then plugging it with new power cords and different power outlets (PREFERABLY 220/240v).

If that does not work. Open up the machine, check if any heatsink is loose or dropped and check for burned marks on hashboards.

Then, try plugging only one hashboard and turn on the unit, if that does not work, it's either PSU or control board that's dead. My guess would be PSU at that point.

Also, I am not sure if you should even run S15 at 120v in the first place...
252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Innosilicon A9 chain failure? on: July 08, 2020, 03:52:04 PM
Contact innosilicon support. But my best guess is that you have dying hashboard.
253  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: It is 2020 time for a new diff thread. on: July 03, 2020, 10:13:39 PM
Phil.... are you still tickering with frimware for Bitmain's ASICs?

Have your tried this below?

https://www.nicehash.com/blog/post/custom-nicehash-asic-firmware-update-2-0-1

That is Vnish firmware rebranded.
I asked and got direct answer confirming this.

I'd recommend you to try it or if you want, try original Vnish firmware, afaik, fees should be the same (or Nicehash takes a bit more) but firmware is 99% same.
254  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: T17/S17 malfunction: cases, solutions, remedies, RMA history on: June 30, 2020, 08:47:13 PM
Bad choice of words and word order on my side. What I meant is that they sent you NEW ones (ones you bought), and they were either DOA or broken in few days/weeks after NORMAL use (if that is the case, and I would assume it is). And about their so called "replacement product", they should work and not be DOA either, so that is another point you could make.

1) works much better for you imho
2) really bad idea if they give you 10% or 30% coupons. If they give you 50%+ coupons, that might be good for you.

*by % I do not mean % of what you spent, but rather the rule of coupon where you can use it to deduct only up to % of your new order*
255  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: It is 2020 time for a new diff thread. on: June 30, 2020, 03:11:27 PM
That would be fun, first time in history that difficulty does not change?

But since there is 2 hours left and -0.1% is predicted, there is no chance we can hit 0% Cheesy
256  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: T17/S17 malfunction: cases, solutions, remedies, RMA history on: June 30, 2020, 03:07:02 PM
Both units were really dirty on 1 side, like it was stored in some warehouse for 3 years, i haven't inspected the inside but fans appeared to be clean. Its not just regular dust you can wipe it out, this appeared like it was glued to the miner. You could scratch it out only. Bitmain sent out replacement units within 2 days of receiving ours, and units arrived in our country in less then 2 days via DHL, so that was fast, but our customs delayed it a lot. Also one thing to notice is that Bitmain extended our warranty period for 18 days.

If in addition to your statement, the miner was oily or dirt had oily/wet look to it. You can be damn sure they used it in immersion (either Bitmain (for testing or otherwise) or some other customer which returned it for repair).

Shipping didn't cost us very much. I think total will be 80$ for shipping, and about 62$ for customs (for both units total). But the trouble we went trough has no price. Since we ordered as company we needed to provide a total of 12-17 documents ( statements, invoices, confirmations etc etc ) regarding export and import.

So, i was aware that Bitmain sent out same crappy gear and that it is just a matter of time before same issue re-occurs. I plugged in both miners. Both worked fine but then...

After 5 minutes = 1 miner dropped a board.
After 4 hours of mining = the other miner dropped 2 boards.

So conclusion is, replacement units were DOA, One miner works with 1 board, the other one works with 2 boards ( for now ). Both miners have exact same issue ( temp sensors ). I have contacted Bitmain and they told me to try and replace firmware  Grin and if that didn't work they suggested me to send them again for repair but this time they will provide me with coupons for shipping fees. I don't mind sending the units back again for repair, but whats the point if we are going to bounce back-and forward this shitty gear until warranty expires.

At this point (as you are a company ordering from other company), I'd politely ask for a big check of compensation for all the troubles (if they give you coupons, fight that as they are mostly useless unless you plan on supporting(buying from) them (which I wouldn't do if I had gone through all that) or ask to trade your DOA and broken machines for one of their new miners (if that works for you).
If politeness does not work, you could threaten them with a legal action for sending broken machines as "new ones" and then failing to repair them, but that is totally up to you and I do not know how would that benefit you as you will probably lose a lot of time if you actually go through with it. But a little threat could work out in your favour if politeness does not as I previously stated. But it's always POLITENESS>threat.

Also do not be afraid to politely tell them that even those units that are out of warranty need to be fixed. I paid only 40 USD or something silly like that for my S17 PRO (that broke twice in a span of 9 months). First repair was in warranty and was free ("only" 2 dead boards here) and second one was like 2-3 months out of INITIAL warranty (day when I got my first unit and not it's replacement) and as I said, I paid something silly while all three boards were dead (physically there was nothing wrong with them (I personally took them out, inspected them and filmed them from both sides and sent videos to Bitmain Support)). But they kept dropping at initialization 95% of the time. Also I should note that I tried with different control board but that did not fix or change the problem in any way. Only the PSU was untested as I didn't have a different one at that time.
257  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will I know if one of my miners ever finds a block? on: June 28, 2020, 12:15:18 PM
You will if you check every miner's miner status page from time to time (or before you restart them or shut down) or your pool might have a feature which notifies you when you found a block (but I doubt F2Pool has this).

But since you are running PPS instead of Solo, does it really matter if you find a block?
258  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS S 17 pro ASIC - on: June 25, 2020, 01:31:43 PM
because the 56 Th are not pro. They are normal.

There are Pro versions with 56 TH.
259  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: The Most powerful tool created for monitoring and management ASIC miners on: June 24, 2020, 04:31:01 PM
Interesting idea, not sure how much it brings to the table since a lot of pools bring notifications with their apps, but it seems that you have it all packed in one place (I only watched the video).

You got quite a nice music and voice for that video, but it really feels like I heard that combination somewhere before.

As your acc is new and you are under different pseudonim than your "tool" in addition to no activity in bitcointalk mining space as well as no merit, I am not sure how many people will trust you with this (I know I won't).

I'd give you 8/10 for your website and youtube vid, but I cannot make myself try anything else as of now.
260  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Two Antminer S17 problems on: June 22, 2020, 08:04:08 AM
Possible, but I have seen a T17+ recovery files that are different from the S17+.

Could be, will have to check with Taserz.

absolutely not, the T17 and T17+ use a completely different control board, since the recovery firmware is MP_test which you later need to flash to the appropriate firmware I think that

S17e,T17e,S17+, and T17+ > could use the same files.
T17, S17, and S17 pro > could use the same files.

You are totally correct, T17 and T17+ are different files.

Also, I think T17 are different from S17 and S17 Pro, but I am not sure about this either.

What I am almost sure of is that S/T17e are different than S/T17+ in files but they do actually use same control board: https://shop.bitmain.com/product/detail?pid=000201912301516442301jqzV9Ep06B6
