241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do people around you think about Bitcoin ? on: June 01, 2016, 08:51:05 AM
I have received mixed responses from people when I asked them what they think about Bitcoin. I have friends who showed absolutely no interest in learning about Bitcoin and they thought that it was some type of fake Internet investment scheme. But I have acquaintances mostly over the Internet who are genuinely interested about the Bitcoin technology and some of them are even avid miners dabbling in alt coin mining. All in all I have seen negative and positive responses so I would say that both camps are kinda balanced out haha  Cheesy
242  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin Really End World Poverty? on: June 01, 2016, 08:39:04 AM
Bitcoin is a digital currency that is basically real money. If people don't work for it like they would do at a normal job I don't know how Bitcoin will end world poverty. Bitcoin is not a charitable foundation dispersing free coins for everyone and people need to earn it with hard work or some initial investment. Unless some multi-billionaire philanthropist starts giving away tons of free Bitcoins poor people would need to find a job paid in Bitcoin but that would be very difficult given their circumstances.
243  Other / Archival / Re: Do you use bitcoin as currency or investment? on: May 31, 2016, 08:34:07 PM
Personally I am using Bitcoin as both an investment and a currency but my usage is dependent on the current price of Bitcoin. Now that the price is very likely to increase because of the halving I am keeping almost all of my coins and I am trying to lower my Bitcoin expenditures to a minimum so as to save as many coins as possible till the end of the year. But when the Bitcoin price tends to go down or hover around the same value for a long time I allow myself to spend something on stuff I need to buy. My Bitcoin budget consists of 20%-30% spending  and the remaining 70% kept in long-term storage.
244  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin Debit Cards on: May 31, 2016, 07:09:25 PM
But neither Bitcoin debit cards nor Bitcoin exchanges are anonymous because you need to provide your ID and home address or a P.O box in order to get the card shipped to you. I think the only truly anonymous method of exchanging Bitcoin is through a private seller on Localbitcoins. But Bitcoin debit cards aside from the compromised anonymity offer a lot of advantages like being able to shop at places where Bitcoin is not accepted yet and being able to withdraw cash from ATM when you please. If you are a frequent user of debit cards online and offline I think it's a great idea to invest in a Bitcoin debit card of your choice.
245  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: May 30, 2016, 08:33:34 PM
Yeah I am sorry for Atletico Madrid, but Real Madrid is always Real Madrid, you can hardly beat them in these kind of finals. At least I won my bet of both teams to score, so thats a positive for me.

I watched the game and I have to say Atletico Madrid played way better than Real in the second half of the match. The missed penalty by Griezmann could have completely changed the match but unfortunately the Atletico Madrid players seemingly had problems performing penalties and basically handed the trophy to Real in the penalty shootout. I have to admit Real Madrid got very lucky in the final and Atletico deserved to win the match in my honest opinion.
246  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kaspersky Labs: Bitcoin Involved in only 3% of All Online Scams on: May 30, 2016, 06:47:50 PM
I wouldn't be surprised by that low amount at all because the predominant Bitcoin hacks are the ransomware attacks which require some leg work from the hackers as opposed to the phishing mails which require no background set-up process for the attacks to work and can come into action triggered by the gullibility of the users. For the Bitcoin hacks to work the user must have downloaded a script or installed a compromised program etc. I am not saying that this is always how the Bitcoin scams work but most of the time a little bit more sophisticated process than simple phishing is required.
247  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin to mastercard/debit card ? on: May 30, 2016, 06:25:22 PM
Coinimal.com has SEPA payments. If you are from Europe your bank where you have opened your bank account at could offer SEPA transactions so I suggest that you check with them for this option. SEPA has very low fees and for example you can exchange 1 BTC for like just 1 euro in fees but there is a little bit of waiting time so be prepared for that.
248  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What about Halving??? on: May 29, 2016, 08:29:56 PM
I would recommend holding your Bitcoins at least until the end of the year because there is a chance that the price may rise up a lot and reach $1000 in January 2017 and you will lose a lot of possible profit by selling too early. I think it wouldn't hurt to wait out and see what will happen to the price after the halving for at least a couple of months if you are in a hurry. If you need some fiat right now just convert a portion of your Bitcoin stash but don't convert everything keep something in there for the future because you will regret it later.
249  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What were your experiences with Bitcoin when you first started? on: May 29, 2016, 07:56:18 PM
I first found out about Bitcoin reading a blog post about it online if I remember right. I was not interested in mining or trading crypto currencies so I focused on using it as a means of digital money and of course for investment because I had heard its value would keep increasing. Well it wasn't easy to wrap my head around everything Bitcoin at first because I was learning about it on my own and it took some time to grasp all the vital information but I am glad I did because fast forward to today I am enjoying using it a lot and Bitcoin has made my life easier sending money abroad to relatives with almost no fees at all.

252  Economy / Gambling / Re: Champions League Winner on: May 22, 2016, 07:26:44 PM
I think Real Madrid will win the trophy. I admit it will be almost a 50/50 game but I think Real will have a slight edge because of better attacking wingers and forwards. The defence of Atletico Madrid is amazing and they managed to shut down MSN of Barcelona but I think it's due time for them to lose in the final.
253  Economy / Economics / Re: The Shift To A Cashless Society Is Snowballing on: May 22, 2016, 07:14:17 PM
On paper digital money sounds more secure than cash but I fear there will still be issues like outages in the network when your account won't be accessible or someone gaining access to your account and your account getting frozen for a long time while the investigations of who hacked into it continues etc. If you are solely dependent on your online bank account to pay for everything and out of the blue you are cut off from your money you are basically done for without paper money. You can't even buy food for the day  Shocked
254  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 49 days till the halving, time is flying now on: May 22, 2016, 07:04:28 PM
Electricity costs next to nothing in some parts of the world, people know to rig electricity meters. The big miners will not be switching off. Arguably it'd be a good thing if smaller scale miners gave up as it just limits supply of couns even more = higher prices.

Wait you can rig your electricity meter to get free electricity while mining? But how can you cover the thousands of kilowatts that the mining hardware is pulling from the grid? Does this trick really work in practice? I imagine you can't just stop the electricity meter from working 24/7 as this would look very suspicious to the electricity company lol.
255  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Here is why Cloudmining failed on: May 22, 2016, 06:47:51 PM
So the cloud mining hashing packages are overpriced x5 at minimum? Then how can they advertise such big possible profits to their customers? The admin fee is to cover their electricity cost per day right? I have used cloudmining before and I managed to break even and make a slight profit but that was almost 2 years ago. It looks like the situation has changed a lot and it's very hard for new users to make any money. Maybe the cloudmining companies are catering to Bitcoiners who can't maintain mining hardware themselves at home and are basically ripping them off on the spot.
256  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is doing something on Bitcoin Pizza Day? May 22nd, 2016 on: May 22, 2016, 06:32:55 PM
Hello guys and happy International Bitcoin Pizza day  Cheesy I almost forgot today was the day but there is still time to go out for a late night pizza Smiley There are no pizza places accepting payments in Bitcoin around my location but I am going to buy a gift card with Bitcoin and I know it just defeats the purpose but that is the only way for me to support Bitcoin in an indirect way  Wink
257  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Swedish Allsvenksan prediction thread on: May 22, 2016, 08:43:43 AM
Hey guys I am thinking of starting a challenge where I am going to be betting both teams to score for matches in the Allsvenskan league. Do you think it would be a better choice to try over goals like over 2.5 than BTTS? I don't have much time to do any research though so I will be picking games randomly. Do you think this is going to be a successful challenge or not? Seeing that many games in the Swedish league finish with over goals and BTTS I think there is a chance I could pull this off.
258  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Exchange volume distribution. BTC belongs to China on: May 22, 2016, 08:27:45 AM
China is just being to hype for Bitcoin, especially for the halving. This is could be a good thing, and also bad thing if the amount keep increasing.

It's an artificial hype. It's based on false volume and that's why the normal people are staying away for BTC.

Why should the normal people stay away from Bitcoin? Normal people could still be using Bitcoin as a currency and not a store of value if they wish. If normal people should not use Bitcoin because of fake trade volume and artificial hype then which alt coin do you suggest they should start using instead. Let me guess, is it Ethereum?
259  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people use so many Bitcoin wallets? on: May 22, 2016, 08:08:43 AM
I think having a lot of different Bitcoin wallets is good for the popularity of Bitcoin because this promotes competition between the companies specializing in providing Bitcoin services and this basically inspires technical progress. Also a heads up from me about online wallets - be careful with storing a lot of coins on wallets at Bitcoin exchanges as these tend to have security issues and get compromised easily so instead use dedicated online wallets if you need one. Storing your coins locally off-line is always the best option though.
260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you ever caught yourself thinking Bitcoin is AMAZING? on: May 22, 2016, 07:55:24 AM
When I used Bitcoin for the first time sending a transaction to another address I was very excited because I wasn't accustomed to this new technology and I wasn't even sure what I was doing and if I was doing it right and I thought that Bitcoin was that amazing technology that could disrupt and change how the financial world was functioning. I still get this feeling years later every time I am transacting money with Bitcoin even though I am not a beginner any more because Bitcoin ,put simply, is just amazing  Cheesy
