241  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon 8 official specs released on: April 23, 2018, 09:19:00 PM
Is that with the latest MM firmware change?

This is what I'm running. I haven't updated the firmware. I'm weird, I never update immediately, unless there is some sort of problem, or a huge improvement.  Plus, I like to see if "latest" released updates have any ill side effects. Kinda old school, if it's not broke, don't fix it, mentality.

Firmware Version:

What's your room temp with them running that hot? Also fan and voltage settings? I've ran mine at 10% and -1 since I received them, but going to try changing the fan back to 100% to see if it helps at all with the one that keeps crashing. Seems like the fan keeps slowing when it shouldn't be.

Room temp is 80°f, and everything is stock on the settings. Like I've posted before, I try not to run them this hot. They are currently located in my garage, and I can't "air" it out until I get home from work. Soon, they will be moved to my basement for the summer. I also want to add, I have 2 M3's running with them as well, and I believe that they are the real heat source. They're little torches, compared to the 841's.

Here are my temps today. They are hashing away. Pretty much regular for me to see these temps.

Do you guys give miners a break or a rest period or just run them flat out until they die ?  I ask because i'm experiencing a bit of a t/h issue with my miner. Temps all good at all times between 79' and 85'.

fan speeds in and out around 4900

all chips on all cards working

but the t/h average has dropped from near 11 to 9.8 ish.

i'm running a whatsminer m3 in a soundproofed box with 5" insulated ducting , heat side direct to outside.

Over the last two weeks ive rebooted several times and it appears to bring it up then slowly back down again.

Any ideas would be greatfully received.

Thanks

Check your ethernet cable. I've found the M3's to be very sensitive with internet connection, and the hashrate will drop like that. Also, if you can, check your psu to make sure its running correctly. If it's not pushing the watts high enough, that may affect the hashrate. This will require a "clampmeter" to check how many amps it's pulling, without disconnecting the miner. Take a look through the Pangolinminer thread below. Goodluck!!!

I don't know if it helps, but I've had my 841's running at 37°c, on warmer days in my area. They seemed ok with it, as I didn't see any relevant hardware errors, and the units were slightly warm to the touch. PSU's remained cool the whole time. I try not to run them "out of range", but had no choice.

Thanks once again. Unfortunately I couldn't find BTC address posted anywhere in my previous posts. I have staked my BTC address on your referred topic now. Hope it's alright and prevent me future hassles. Still would like to get my account back somehow but chances are quite low. Should I try send Admins PM or leave it?

You can try. But, don't hold your breath. The only way I've EVER gotten someone's account unlocked, is with the signed message. I personally had to do the dame thing, from the 2015 database leak. That was a pain for alot of people here, and still is for some.
Wish you luck!!!

A signed message from an address posted nowhere other than their profile is useless.

PM sent regarding sensitive information.

I just sent you the original message through pm

If you can send me it I can unlock it.

I just sent you the message
thanks

Pablito, what ever became of this PM??? Usually hilariousandco follows through with these actions. I'm just curious, because
it's been quite a while, since that PM. Did hilariousandco not receive it??? Very odd.

Thank you mate. I already visited that link, but the problem is I don't remember if I ever posted my BTC address anywhere in this forum. Maybe exchanged it or some altcoin address in PM, but don't remember where or when? How can I get back my account if not having these details? Wish I knew it before to have it posted somewhere. I'll now include my BTC address here in this post just for future reference.

No problem. I'm happy to help. Find your profile in the member search. Then find the "last posts of this person", and check the posts for an address. Hopefully you can find one. Unfortunately, this may be your only way to try. I'm sure the Admins could ,technically find another way, but they won't bother with it. They are completely overwhelmed, with the amount of these situations, they are back logged.

To any new members here, or anyone who hasn't, take this advice seriously:

Post your BTC address in the thread below. If you lose your account, and need to have the Admins retrieve it, this will be a VERY useful tool.

Stake your BTC address here:

The noise is a deal breaker though

I've found with mine, it's the psu that makes most of the noise. The miner itself, is actually quieter, than my Avalon  841's.
Take a look at the thread below, for some sound control ideas, specifically for the M3. However, in your situation, being in
an apartment type area, ANY asic miner will be a noise problem. Goodluck!!!

Damn it, someone hacked my user account here and changed the email address. Had no further choice to get it locked instead of being misused by the hacker. So I would be known as this username for now, Kano username would be the old one named 1manshow. Anyway can I get my original account restored without providing BTC address? (as I didn't provided it earlier in my posts/profile) I can prove it as my account if Admins can verify it somehow.

Sorry for this offtopic, but this thread is the go to place where I posted mostly.  Embarrassed

You'll have to follow the directions in the link below. But--first--you'll need to see if you've posted your BTC address somewhere on the forum. They use a signed message from that address's wallet to verify ownership. I can tell you, you can get it back if you meet the criteria, but it could be weeks/months.

Be very careful with your email address and password in this forum. Never post or give either of them. If someone asks for your email address, for anything, never give them your "forum" email address, as it's probably a scam to get your account. Account selling is a MAJOR issue in bitcointalk. Hackers/Scammers use these accounts to make money from, campaigning, airdrops, merit sales, and general market place rip offs. Be Careful!!!

I suck at forum posting, so if somebody could tell me how to post this image on here it would be appreciated. Below is the embedded portion if that helps anyone.

You need to get the picture link that has .jpeg .gif or .png on the end of it. Then you put it between the code below. Or press the picture button from the menu above your post.

I sent my scout into kano pool to check out the math.
I was a skeptic.
Kano pool wins.
It's complicated,  but with the 5n value and the fees I'm doing better on average compared to nicehash.
<snip>

It's not like it's a ginormous difference, but it's important to get Noobs like me make the switch. Berating them seems counterproductive.

It's perfectly normal to be skeptical, when first coming here. It's natural to analyze every detail, of the longevity of profitability.  At some point every single one of us has been there. It's important for us to do the "homework", and have a better understanding of HOW Kano's Pool, is a better option, over the long haul. It's the "waiting it out to see" that alot of miners have a difficult time with. Naturally, while creating our "plan", we want to see numbers we simply cannot see......yet.

The difference you mentioned, is not ginormous, as of Yet. We are making some very good headway on gaining more Hashrate. As I, and others, have mentioned before, the higher the Hashrate, the more frequent we will find blocks.

Here's where EVERYONE can make a difference in their own profitability:

That space you have that's not for rent,(signature space) tell the viewers of your posts where YOU mine. Maybe they'll ask you your experience with Kano Pool, and join themselves. I've personally had this happen through PM's, and those people are members now.

Tell other miners you know outside of the forum. Word of mouth, can go ALONG way. The more people who join, the higher the Hashrate will become, and make YOUR profitability even better.

Seize the moment!!! Make YOUR Profit what YOU want it to be!!!

How do I sign up for this contest?

The contest is announced in the thread, when the previous winner's reward is finished. Keep an eye out for it, and send a PM to
K. P. Pass the Hash to enter. There is usually more than one notice while the contest is going. Goodluck!!!
