I would be pretty sure that it would work (or if not then that at least any private keys could be fairly easily extracted from it).

The original wallet implementation did not have a passphrase (in fact that wasn't added until after Satoshi had disappeared from memory).

He's posting the same stuff in multiple topics so I'm sure that you can find him easily enough.

At the moment he is simply having troubles admitting that Craig Wright has claimed that he is Satoshi despite being presented with the evidence (including Craig Wright actually saying so).

Unfortunately @TBTB is not very good at doing (even the most basic) research and doesn't know how to ever admit he is wrong (he will now say that the BBC and everyone else is wrong rather than admit his own mistake).

And if he was saying that he just knew Satoshi and is not Satoshi then why does Gavin come out this "meeting" saying that he is Satoshi (surely he would  have told Gavin it was his friend and not him).

No - what Craig did was grab an existing signature used by Satoshi and pretend he had created it to sign a document by Sartre (which is fraud and even Gavin is not sure what on earth to make of that).

And he *is* claiming to be Satoshi (which is why he asked Gavin to come and *verify* his claim).

It would be interesting to know exactly when Gavin first heard of Bitcoin and when he might have possibly mined his first bitcoins.

Assuming this Craig Wright manages to move any early BTC amounts I wouldn't be surprised if those were actually Gavin's coins (maybe that was actually the reason for the meeting in London - so that Gavin could pass Craig some private keys).

Satoshi did not do that (it would appear that an old email account of his had been hacked back then). Of course we may well see another such email appear in the coming days but I wouldn't pay any attention to that either.

If it was true (that he could produce a valid signature) then why would you go to the effort of posting such a hoax on your website?

You should perhaps be considering Occam's razor here (the simplest explanation being that Craig Wright does not have the private keys he is claiming to have).

Well if you think that Satoshi's ideas are Craig Wright's then it might be wise of him not to lie about providing the hash of a Sartre document which he supposedly signed with a "copy and pasted" signature from the blockchain.

And someone who is prepared to be so deceitful is not the kind of Satoshi that I think any of us actually want to support (apart from Gavin it seems).

You're entitled to your high opinion of Gavin as I am entitled to my much lower opinion of him.

It is his acts of attempted coups with constant changing of what he supports (initially blocks to grow exponentially and then when that isn't supported then to grow a little less and then when that isn't supported...) that really lost him credibility in my eyes (and his willingness to work with anyone who doesn't even understand Bitcoin so long as they will support him).

His continued involvement with the very much discredited Bitcoin Foundation was another nail in the coffin but this latest ridiculous thing (associating himself with a now proven liar - and we are talking a rather big lie in pretending to sign something with Satoshi's private key which clearly he did not do) simply is too much for him to really ever regain any credibility in my eyes.
