I'd much rather have a regular site login than the Facebook crap.

whether it was to buy BTC for myself, or on behalf of others.

after seeing that your bank is probably filing a SAR as we speak
In my case, it's a good thing my activities are legitimate and I have nothing to worry about.
Being on a US gov terrorist list of some sort would still not be fun, even if all your activities are legitimate.  It's so sad how we are letting our own government kill off civil liberties for the *illusion* of safety.

Have you considered pointing to a merged mining pool?  No reason not to get the NMC and sell it for BTC.
You have any idea what the current "excess return" is with merged mining?  5%?  10%?
I'll take a wild guess and say that merged mining will net you an additional 2 to 3 BTC per week with your farm.  Based on comments in this thread.

cablepair, are the email issues worked out yet on the pool?  I still haven't been able to register/confirm my email successfully.  Thanks.
247  Economy / Services / Re: 13.5 GH/s contract on: December 28, 2011, 06:50:35 AM
I will not point the miners at another pool, apologies.
Fair enough.  I am curious as to why, though.  I would want to point the hashing power to a pool that supports merged mining with NMC to increase chances of making a profit.

http://www.devcoin.org/?q=node/2

you can download from here for now, its totally temporary devcoin.org site I have not had time to develop yet.
Thanks for the download link.

I was wondering about an actual repository or version control system, since that would foment collaboration and contributions to the project.  Are there any plans to use Github, for example?
249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [800,000 DVC remaining bounty] for Devcoin preliminary testing on: December 27, 2011, 10:13:02 PM
Is there a git repository, based on the original bitcoin repository it was forked from? If not, do you know the commit id where it was forked? If not git do you have any version control repository?

<snip> Anyway I have setup a git repository at:

https://github.com/caston/devcoin

Is the official devcoin code in a git repository or another repository somewhere?
250  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitparking Merged Mining Pool (PPS, 35G/s, BTC, NMC and I0C) on: December 27, 2011, 10:05:26 PM
Have you talked with Unthinkingbit or markm about that?
Yes, there was a discussion in the devcoin thread about it when I asked about source code repositories to contribute.
That's quite unfortunate.

In anticipation for changing DNS entries, you can lower to TTL to about a half hour ahead of time so that all clients will switch quickly when you make the change.  After the change you can increase the TTL again.
252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitparking Merged Mining Pool (PPS, 35G/s, BTC, NMC and I0C) on: December 27, 2011, 09:34:29 PM
Might try this pool out.  Only thing it needs is merged mining with Devcoin. (when that is implemented)
I was keen at one point to implement merged mining in devcoin. But there turned out not to be a stable source repository for it and one of the official clients had an invalid checkpoint making downloading the block chain not possible. It looks difficult to contribute to as a result. If there were a stable repository, accepting pull requests, it'd be more likely to happen.

I see.  I was looking for a "banned" user title in his posts...

Only admins can tell whether someone is banned unless I leave a note.

Dark_science was banned at the same time as astana.
Okay, thanks for the clarification.
254  Economy / Services / Re: 13.5 GH/s contract on: December 27, 2011, 09:25:28 PM
I guarantee the farm will average 13.5 GH/s over the life of the contract.
Thanks.

Payouts will be directed to the address of your choice.
Would you be willing to point your farm to a pool of my choice instead?  What miner do you use and does it support failover to a secondary pool?
255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Elitist Jerks 0% Fee PPLNS - Litecoin - on: December 27, 2011, 07:54:05 PM
When will the pool open back up?

Your sig image shows 13.34 GH/s, is this the hashing power offered in the contract?  (I realize there is variance, just curious).

Thanks.

Edit: Do you guarantee that your mining farm will mine at 13.5 GH/s or higher the entire time?

Thanks.
258  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Accusations against shakaru on: December 27, 2011, 07:40:36 PM
astana doesn't look banned to me.

In the US all a minor can do is drive a car and buy guns. Strange country they have there...

Minors can buy guns? I wish I would have known that when I was a minor.
As Holliday mentioned, it depends on the state.  The only federal laws are minimum age or 18 and 21 for *purchase* of a  long gun or handgun respectively *from an FFL*.  There are different (state) laws regarding private sales, gifts and possesion/owning firearms.
